• Dress Code: Gentlemen are required to wear a jacket and tie (jeans and sportswear are not permitted for either ladies or gentlemen) for Afternoon Tea and lunch and dinner in The Ritz Restaurant and The Ritz Room. In all other areas of the hotel (The Ritz Restaurant breakfast service, The Rivoli Bar, The Long Gallery, and the Cigar Lounge), smart casual attire is required. Please note that shorts, ripped jeans, trainers and sportswear are not permitted in any of the hotel’s restaurants or bars.
• Please be aware that The Ritz London requires guests to provide photographic identification during check-in. Non-UK residents are requested to provide a valid passport, while UK residents can present either a valid passport or a full UK driving license.

My wife and daughter arrived at the Ritz on a cold, rainy day, soaked and freezing after being caught unprepared by the weather. They were dressed somewhat casually and hastily, simply wearing whatever extra layers they had with them, and only wished to come inside for tea, warm up, and wait for me. Instead of being welcomed with the elegance and hospitality one expects from a hotel of this reputation, they were stopped at the entrance by a porter behaving more like a nightclub bouncer. He informed them, in an extremely condescending manner, that there was a dress code. What made the situation even more disappointing is the obvious inconsistency in how such rules appear to be applied. One regularly sees celebrities, influencers, and VIP guests admitted in outfits far less appropriate than what my family was wearing that day. True luxury is not about policing appearances with arrogance; it is about grace, discretion, empathy, and hospitality. Sadly, this experience reflected none of those qualities. The Ritz no longer seems to embody the timeless elegance and class for which it was once renowned.”

Schon beim Betreten des Hotels spürt man die besondere Atmosphäre aus Eleganz, Tradition und Luxus. Jeder Winkel des Hauses strahlt Stil und Klasse aus, ohne dabei jemals distanziert zu wirken. Unser Zimmer war wunderschön – geschmackvoll eingerichtet, makellos sauber und mit unglaublicher Liebe zum Detail gestaltet. Der Komfort war außergewöhnlich, vom herrlich bequemen Bett bis hin zum perfekten Service im Zimmer. Man fühlt sich vom ersten Moment an rundum wohl und willkommen. Besonders hervorheben möchten wir auch das Frühstück: einfach hervorragend. Die Auswahl war exquisit, die Qualität der Speisen erstklassig und der Service dabei aufmerksam, charmant und absolut professionell. Der Start in den Tag hätte nicht schöner sein können. Das Herzstück dieses außergewöhnlichen Hotels ist jedoch ohne Zweifel das Personal. Selten haben wir eine solche Herzlichkeit, Höflichkeit und echte Gastfreundschaft erlebt. Jeder einzelne Mitarbeiter begegnete uns mit einem Lächeln, unglaublicher Aufmerksamkeit und einer Selbstverständlichkeit im Service, die ihresgleichen sucht. Man hatte jederzeit das Gefühl, nicht einfach Gast, sondern wirklich willkommen zu sein. Diese Freundlichkeit und Zuvorkommenheit machen das The Ritz zu etwas ganz Besonderem und heben es weit über andere Luxushotels hinaus. Besonders auch die Hall Porter (Concierge) waren wirklich ausgesprochen hilfsbereit und konnten praktisch alles schon im Vorfeld organisieren. It was truly a choice that fully confirmed his expectations. From the moment we entered the hotel, we felt like we were stepping into another world, the interior fragrance, live piano music and the beauty of the interior design captivated us. Dinner in the main restaurant was perfect, the taste of the dishes, the impeccable service, the ballroom like a ballroom from the good old days were a story. The next day we enjoyed an extremely elegant afternoon tea and completed it with an evening at the opera. The room was completed with all kinds of details from chocolate and fine candies, quality cosmetics, beautiful furniture, so the accommodation was at its best. We left with the most beautiful memories and the desire to return.

The service is super attentive and makes you feel really special and the famous afternoon tea is definitely worth it. The hotel looks stunning and elegant but some parts feel a bit traditional rather than modern. Overall it’s expensive but for the experience and atmosphere it’s something you should try at least once.

Anyone who orchestrates processes and operations in any business knows that when things appear effortless, there is an extraordinary level of thought, precision, and professionalism behind it. This is exactly how I see The Ritz — polished, classy, and impeccable. What stands out just as much is the people. Across every touchpoint — from concierge, valet, reception, and housekeeping to The Palm Court, the restaurant, and the Rivoli Bar (special greetings to a Lithuanian bartender working there) — The Ritz brings together individuals who are not only exceptional in their professionalism, but also in their cultural awareness, warmth, and presence. It takes you back in time in the very best sense. The food, the service, and the beautifully decorated rooms come together to create something close to a fairytale. We were genuinely won over. The Ritz London has gained new regular guests — we are already planning to return each year to relive its magic and the beauty of London altogether. P.S. Being addressed as “Madam Asta” throughout my stay was a small detail that brought a smile every time — charming, personal, and a reminder that what we truly value is to be seen not just as guests, but as individuals.
- decoaddict (10/5): Perfection.........! - Following a wonderful stay last September, my wife and I were fortunate to celebrate my 73rd birthday with another weekend stay at the Ritz from the 14th of March to the 16th.. And as it coincided with Mother’s Day, a double celebration. Our two and a half year old grandson and his parents who live in London joined us on Sunday to celebrate two Mums! As before when I reviewed the Ritz, everything was perfect and if possible even more so. We cannot pretend to be multi millionaires (unfortunately!) but were treated as such by the incredibly friendly and always courteous staff. You are greeted with “Welcome home”, and that’s exactly what it feels like. Nothing is too much trouble and the staff are always willing to share their extensive knowledge of food wine, London and a multitude of other subjects .It’s lovely to be addressed by name, and have things such as food allergies etc. remembered and automatically applied from visit to visit. Although the building is going through a massive development programme at the moment we had no disturbances at all during our stay – the taxi drop off point has switched from Arlington Street to the centre of the Piccadilly frontage (Uber still directs to Arlington Street so worth mentioning to your driver, though most probably know already), and the windows of the magnificent restaurant overlooking Green Park have been tactfully frosted to avoid a view of a building material lift and rubbish chute in typical Ritz style. When the Palm Court was renovated a few years ago, the entrance was concealed with the ultimate hoarding – all mirrors and gilt! And as yet no disturbance at all to the grand ground floor spaces, witnessed by myself on Mother’s Day when my grandson developed a new game of going up the Grand Staircase, three flights, then fortunately down in the lift, only touching (briefly) the emergency call button once!! After the fifth round I handed him over to his mum for a few more circuits. And when you have a little chap who enjoys pointing at chandeliers, what better place!

The food is something els. Would go as far to say one of the best meals we have ever had . We still have the rolls Royce experience today . What a place a world leader in hotels for sure . I arrived after dinner at 00.12 and the door of the hotel was closed, nobody inside ready to open and I had to hammer with my fists against the closed doors. There was no doorbell to ring outside the door. After a few minutes somebody showed up and opened the door. This is something that can be expected in a two stars little family managed country boarding house not in a hotel in downtown London, let alone the Ritz.

We also have to mention cheeky chops Ben, who had us all chuckling — such a character and a real asset to the team. The food was beautifully presented and executed with precision. Each course was thoughtfully balanced with excellent flavours and high-quality ingredients. And finally, a very special thank you to Enzo, who completely stole the show. His crêpe Suzette was absolutely spectacular and, in a moment I won’t forget, he renamed it the “Crêpe Sarah” — which actually brought a tear to my eye. An unforgettable evening with incredible food, wonderful service and a touch of theatre that made it truly special.

The doorman whose name I forget, was ever so accommodating and helpful in guiding me to the reception. The lady housekeeper was so kind to give me a tour of the hotel and help with a few photos. What can I say about the lovely, hardworking room attendant who provided turn down service! In general, the staff get all the stars! Their hospitality was deeply heart-felt and they were able to satisfy my odd requests. As for the room, it exceeded my expectations! I loved the size, the comfort of bed/pillows and the elegance of a bygone era. I miss it already and looking forward to coming back again! There is no swimming pool however, my room included a bath so I was able to enjoy a bubble bath. It might be useful to include a kettle in the room.

From the gentleman on the front doors welcoming us into the hotel , the cloak attendant and other staff welcoming us and made us feel so welcome . The selection of sandwiches , warm scones and cakes was so good and plenty of them . The waiter who served us was absolutely wonderful ( forgot to ask his name ) , telling us about what food we would be eating , checking we were all ok, offering us fresh pots of teas etc, he was so attentive . It was also my cousins birthday and they brought out a lovely little birthday cake , such a nice touch that really made my cousins afternoon memorable. The waiters also offered to take our pictures , it wasn’t a problem for them . It was just perfection and I just couldn’t fault it . Also someone on a piano playing lovely music in the background. The hotel is so luxurious and it was a total pleasure to be there . I will definitely come back to The Ritz with my friends , total 5 star experience. Thank you .

The service was absolutely first class from the moment we set foot inside the hotel. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and attentive. There was a wide selection of sandwiches (which were bottomless) as well as delicious cakes and scones. There was also a cake trolley with fresh cakes offered. Mum and I were seated at the front of the room and we couldn’t have asked for a better spot. A talented harpist playing whilst we enjoyed our afternoon tea made the atmosphere even more magical! Everything about the hotel was first class and we enjoyed every second. Would highly recommend the experience for anyone thinking of going.

Vegan vegetarian options available on request which was much appreciated and equally delightful.

As an actor, I have often heard stories of well-known figures returning to the hotel time and again, and I can now genuinely understand why. Our experience was outstanding, and I already know that my wife and I will return—next time, very likely in a suite. Although we were just ordinary people celebrating a special occasion, every visitor was treated with the same care and respect. The room was overlooking the New Year's Day Parade, so we had a Birds Eye view whilst sipping our complementary champagne because it was our Wedding Anniversary and a special birthday. This magnificent and iconic hotel in Mayfair truly deserves its reputation! First of all we were both speechless while discovering the ground floor, the lobby (with its somptuous Christmas Tree) and the Ritz Restaurant, all so beautifully and festively decorated. But this was little compared to the excitment we felt when entering our splendid Junior Suites: a huge natural and carefully decorated Christmas Tree was twinkling nearby the chimney!! Our rooms were very pretty and comfortable with an excellent Turndown Service. We also really appreciated that both our suites were communicating! The Ritz Restaurant, where we had the opportunity to enjoy a lunch just after we arrived, is one of our best memories! We had never eaten before a lunch of this quality and perfection (I am still dreaming of the Scallops, a pure delicacy) Breakfasts also reach perfection at the Ritz Restaurant, where Kevin anticipated our needs and pampered us! We were also very lucky to enjoy an Afternoon Tea in the elegant and festive Palm Court during our stay! A moment of grace with delicate Sandwiches, fresh warm Scones and cute Pastries, which we accompanied with the exquisite Ritz Christmas Tea!! And last but not least, we want to congratulate and thank the entire Ritz staff and especially all the persons that we had the pleasure to meet and that contributed to make our short stay so marvellous and unforgettable : the Reception Team (that were so patient and helpful), the waiters at the Palm Court and Ritz Restaurant (Special thanks to Kevin), the Concierge Team (so attentive, we really appreciated the proposal to bring us some tea and shortbreads to our suites when once coming back late at night!), the Turndown Service ladies, the welcoming doormen! That is what we remember most: the attentive, kind and gracious contact that we experienced in this unique hotel!! We have visited many beautiful and luxury hotels around the world but the Ritz London has that little 'plus' thing that makes our heart vibrate! It preserves the character of the space and maintains an ambiance that truly suits the heritage of the hotel. Once embraced, it enhances the experience rather than detracts from it. This was our second stay, booked through the Leading Hotels of the World Aurelian program. While we haven’t yet received an upgrade through the program, the overall service and experience remain polished and professional, and the hotel’s standards are consistently high. The Ritz succeeds in blending tradition with modern comfort, offering a stay that feels both grand and refined. It remains one of London’s most iconic hotels, and we continue to enjoy returning for its atmosphere, history, and sense of occasion.
- L9433KNlaurah (2/5): Afternoon tea - incorrect no show charge - Absolutely let down by the ritz. I had an afternoon tea reservation for 22nd December, however I was unable to attend. I tried to cancel on the link from the email, however it would not work and so I called the hotel and cancelled verbally on the phone. There policy is to cancel outside of 48hrs which I fully respect, I cancelled this reservation at 14.22 on 15th december. I have provided them with a screenshot of the phonecall to them, yet they claim I didnt make the phone call and therefore insist that they have followed procedure by charging me £240. I have advised the ritz of the financial impact this has had on me, I raised the claim with them on 23rd December explaining my mortgage was due out on 3rd January and they have still not resolved this. They have given me a final response to say they are not refunding me. I am exceptionally disappointed and suprised with the handling of this, this is an error on their behalf and not mine and I have been penalised for it financially. I am sharing this to ensure this does not happen to anyone else.

The preparatory questions were clear and relevant and helped to steer the event including the custom cake. We were made very welcome by the lovely staff who made a point of including our two grandchildren aged 7yrs and 5yrs into the festivities. The Ritz dining room is a very special place in its size, magnificent decor and outlook over Green Park but we were made to feel very comfortable in this exalted environment. The menu was limited ( always good to see ) but tempting and each dish was executed with skill and precision with attention to maximise the potential of the first class ingredients; the venison was a particular triumph. The wine list was a tome that deserved time and consideration but offered a marvellous selection of fairly priced wines for a venue of this calibre. No request is too complicated and is done with in literally a minute. Food was excellent as well. Yea is a must. We did the Christmas Eve Gala which was magical. Our room was so spacious with our Christmas tree and presents left for us. Live Christmas music played through out the hallway. I felt like a princess!

Our stay was undeniably pleasant and steeped in the timeless grandeur the Ritz is known for. The sense of history, ceremony, and old-world charm is ever present, making it a property many will visit at least once for the name alone. That said, to love it even more, a few elements would benefit from thoughtful evolution. A major refurbishment would go a long way, as certain facilities now feel dated when measured against London’s other top-tier luxury hotels. The addition of a swimming pool and a well-designed spa would elevate the experience significantly and bring the Ritz in line with modern expectations. The entry-level Superior Room is also notably compact and offers little to no view — though, to be fair, we were graciously upgraded to a far more spacious Junior Suite for the duration of our stay, which made a meaningful difference. Culinary offerings remain a strong point. The celebrated afternoon tea fully lives up to its reputation — elegant, indulgent, and impeccably executed. Breakfasts and dinners were equally satisfying, reinforcing the Ritz’s standing as a culinary institution. Service, overall, is excellent: polished, attentive, and consistently professional. The only minor note is the charge of £5 per additional bottle of water. While the amount itself is inconsequential, at this price point it slightly detracts from the sense of generosity one expects from a hotel of this stature. All in all, the Ritz London delivers a solid experience. However, as competitors such as Claridge’s and the newly opened Rosewood Chancery invest heavily in modernization, the Ritz now has some catching up to do to remain at the very top.

- Chiprafp (10/5): The Ultimate Anniversary and Birthday Treat - We chose The Ritz to celebrate my wife Colleen’s 40th birthday and our 20th wedding anniversary, it has always been on her bucket list to have afternoon tea there so I decided to do the works and stay over with dinner too! Tom welcomed us as we checked in and he surprised us with an upgrade to a stunning Junior Suite, which set the tone for the whole stay. He made sure we were looked after until the room was ready and then gave us a tour, he is a credit to the hotel and it's brand! We experienced both the traditional Afternoon Tea and dinner in the restaurant. Both were impeccable with exceptional food, first-class service, and a truly magical atmosphere. The staff made a point to acknowledge our double celebration at every turn, making us feel like the only guests in the hotel. Thank you to The Ritz for making this milestone so spectacular. 5 stars isn't enough! My words don't do it enough justice hopefully the pictures will!

The decor is outstanding, the staff attentive and profession - they are so friendly. The bedroom was perfect and exceeded all expectation. Every detail was attended to. Tea at the Ritz is an exceptional experience . Though it costs more than the average person can afford it is however, great value for what is given. When we entered the Bar we were asked do we have a reservation, our reply was no we just wanted a drink, we were then told due to our foot ware we were not welcome, and where asked to leave, even when there was another couple on another table wearing similar type of Sports shoe, how discriminating is this, our money is as good as anyone’s,and who gives anyone the right to treat normal working class people this way, on our way out we were told that they may have made a reservation, what difference that makes should not make a difference. In one word if you are visiting this hotel Don’t wear any type of sports type of shoes. Would I recommend to anyone in simple words NO!

- Hols2014 (10/5): An amazing experience for lunch. - A totally beautiful experience. Food is sublime and service unpretentiousness and profession. An expensive experience but does not disappoint. Wonderful.
- Savlat (3/5): Professionalism needs serious improvement - Location is good The hotel itself is stunning, but the check-in experience was disappointing. We were made to wait 20–25 minutes because of unnecessary bureaucracy, and the answers to my questions were unprofessional. The night manager even raised his voice at me — completely unacceptable for The Ritz. Later that night, despite my clear request not to be disturbed, I was called and woken up while sleeping. Staff urgently need proper training in guest relations. This is not the first time this happens in Ritz.
- denisec472 (10/5): Celebrate in the splendour of the Ritz! - Wow! Another fabulous trip to this iconic hotel in London. We decided to visit the Ravoli Bar for an early birthday celebration. We cannot fault the friendly, first class service in this establishment. We started with cocktails, the Ritz 110 and the cocktail of the month, both were amazing. We then had a bottle of rose Bollinger Champagne and chose to eat in the bar too, we couldn’t fault the food and finished off with a specially prepared strawberry & vanilla celebration cake. Delicious!! Before we left, we chose to finish the champagne in the lounge, on a relaxing sofa surrounded by the splendour of the Ritz. Such a beautiful hotel with attentive staff who are more than happy to take pictures for you. We will certainly be visiting again.

- Hilary (10/5): The Ritz is everything it ought to be! Grand and glorious. A joy to stay at! - We went for the very special occasion of my husband’s 90th birthday. It was just wonderful, the young man Pierre who checked us in was absolutely delightful and our stay was as smooth as satin and as sweet as honey. No complaints!
