From the moment we interacted with him, he was incredibly welcoming, attentive, and just genuinely kind in a way that felt very natural—not forced or overly scripted like you sometimes see in hospitality. He made us feel comfortable right away and paid attention to little details that really elevated the whole night. What stood out most was how effortlessly professional he was while still being personable. You can tell he truly cares about the experience guests are having, and that kind of attitude makes a huge difference. Eric is exactly the kind of person who represents a place well, and I honestly think he deserves opportunities to take on even bigger roles. Staff like him are rare and make people want to come back.

- JenNy_9164 (10/5): Relaxing, hospitable people great vibe - My stay at Shoreside Santa Monica Hotel had spectacular service a huge shout-out to waitress Lorena, the Chef 👨🍳🦐🇲🇽, Oswaldo, and Jose, and amazing manager Raul, all of them paid attention to detail, gracious, super attentive, and an assisted with any accommodations we needed without hesitation. Food recommendation: breakfast- I ordered steak (well done is still super juicy & full of flavor) and eggs with side of potatoes and I ordered this throughout my entire stay, it’s spectacular. Also try the green juice delicious! Coffee is 💯. Room #412 was awesome very clean, bed extremely comfortable firm & plushy at the same time, the best part of the room definitely has to be in the views and the shower will be the best shower of your life! (Endless Hot Water great water pressure) the see-through glass does have a privacy screen button✅. Front desk staff are friendly and helpful. Atmosphere is very relaxing, calm, quiet a perfect place for family/kids to have fun and be safe at the same time, the pool is heated & perfectly located in the center of the hotel. The bikes were comfy, easy to use (a lock is included) overall a fun experience riding alongside Santa Monica Beach. Valet parking has spectacular service, a bit on the pricey side, but very convenient all staff were pleasant & efficient. Thank you for all that you do, Raul, Lorena, Jose and Oswaldo, You all truly make a difference with our stay. 🫶🏻 Great people like them truly make our experience joyful, now we plan to return with our kids because of their vibrant, upbeat hospitality!

- AlvinC530 (10/5): Location Location Location!!! - 5 minutes walk to the beach...what more can you ask for! From LAX, you can easily catch route 3 to Santa Monica, a 40 minute bus ride ($2 ticket), and then you're there! Afterwards you can head north from the beach to the Pier or south to Venice Beach. Even if you're going to downtown LA, a short 10 minutes walk to the metro station and you can catch the train there, no transfer needed to Walt Disney Symphony, Broad Museum, Little Tokyo, Grand Central Market, Bradbury Building, etc. This hotel is over 20 years old, formerly known as Le Merigot, but completely revamped and rebranded as Sandbourne... very contemporary design. The lobby is very spacious, and so is our room. Our favorite is the breakfast...the menu is small but really good quality food. Will totally recommend this hotel if your budget allows.
- J6480LGdanielel (10/5): Modern and unpretentious, close to the beach and shopping - This is a cool, modern and unpretentious property in Santa Monica, close to the beach (but not beach front). Rooms are very spacious and feel new. We had a room with two queens beds and balcony and another one with a King bed, City view. The balcony one was perhaps not worth the extra cost as the outdoor space felt oversized for the furniture and not very inviting (it's more like a concrete terrace than a balcony). The partial ocean view is really partial, although it is always nice to see a sliver of water. The City view room was well sized, facing the main street, but very quiet. Food at the restaurant was good, but the service on a Saturday morning was way too slow. There is an inviting, very small bar at the entrance and a simple, self-service convenience store. Valet parking is available for close to $90/night, which is a lot, but the only option we found nearby. There is also a pool and exercise room (the latter with very loud music!). You can walk to the main shopping area in Santa Monica or to the beach path really easily. We loved the extra touch of being able to request weighted blankets for the room in advance, with no additional costs.

The rooms were larger than most hotels in that area, and I had a partial ocean view with a balcony, which was very nice. The on-site restaurant is excellent and absolutely worth trying. Despite prepaying for my stay, the hotel placed an additional authorization for incidentals and then charged my card again, resulting in over $2,400 being tied up for a four-day stay. This over-authorization left me without access to funds over a holiday weekend while traveling with my child. The most frustrating part was that the hotel did not proactively offer a solution. I had to repeatedly escalate the issue and provide proof that I was unable to meet basic needs due to the over-authorization before they offered limited assistance. Even then, meal coverage required constant follow-up throughout the stay. Although the room itself was comfortable, the ongoing concern that my card would continue to be charged or declined made it impossible to relax or enjoy the trip.

- moniq391 (2/5): Prepaid stay, billing issues, ruined trip. - I really wanted to love this hotel, especially given the recent renovation and the Autograph Collection branding, but unfortunately my stay was riddled with operational issues that caused real stress and financial disruption. From the start, check-in was chaotic. I arrived early and was repeatedly told conflicting information about when my room would be ready. What should have been a smooth process turned into nearly a three-hour wait, with inconsistent communication throughout. More seriously, despite prepaying for my stay through Booking.com, the hotel ran an additional authorization of over $1,200, far exceeding the stated incidental hold. This error left me temporarily without access to funds while traveling with my daughter, including over a holiday weekend when banks were closed. This alone significantly impacted our ability to eat, move around, and enjoy the trip. There were also smaller but compounding issues: * Approved complimentary amenities (weighted blankets) were not delivered until the next day, after repeated follow-up. * Food & beverage credits meant to address the situation were inconsistently applied, requiring multiple corrections. * At checkout, the system attempted to run an additional charge despite the folio showing a zero balance, forcing yet another escalation. * While some staff members were kind and tried to help, the experience at the front desk was inconsistent, and the final interaction felt dismissive and unnecessarily rude given the circumstances. To management's credit, the folio was eventually corrected to a zero balance, and documentation was provided. However, by that point the damage was done. What was meant to be a relaxing stay became a prolonged exercise in advocating for basic accuracy and access to my own money. A hotel at this price point and brand level should not put guests, especially those traveling with children, in this position. Renovated spaces don't compensate for poor systems, inconsistent service, and financial errors. I hope the hotel takes this feedback seriously, because the potential may be there, but execution matters.

Check in was a breeze, Alex made sure we had the lay of the land and helped us out with any questions we had! Thanks Alex :) We also enjoyed renting the beach cruisers and rode that along the beach, loved that they had refillable water stations throughout and lots of areas to sit. Although we didn't use this service, they offered beach towels, chairs and umbrellas for the beach. Surrounded by lots of different places to eat and shop! To save some money on parking, we parked at the Metro Station 17th/SMC for $3 a day and then rode one stop to Downtown Santa Monica Station, it was then a 15 minute walk to the hotel. Would come again next time we need a staycation.

We had a great time and even though the weather was bad we made the most of it in this wonderful hotel. It would have been nice to see a kettle and some complimentary tea and coffee in the rooms. Bathroom was small for a double queen but on the whole lovely. The parking was valet at $70 per day which was very expensive. We were not made aware of that on booking and would have been nice to know the alternatives. The valet service was excellent however and the car was available whenever we needed it day or night. No cup lids for the complimentary coffee in the lobby. Couldn’t take them in the car because of this. Bit of a basic requirement.

I'v been here twice this month (Dec 2025) and the facility is nice but lounge area is nothing special, restaurant is overpriced, no water bottles in room, no offer of water at front desk. Room heating and cooling is inefficient. Bathrooms are sparse. This hotel is not worth the money. I am here for another two nights an will likely check out and go elsewhere tonight and tomorrow night. Seems like staff needs a boost as everything and everyone is just sort of "blah".

No bath tub - appreciate this is very common these days but for such a large room, we felt this was missing. 2. Shower drainage - couldn't continuously shower without the tray flooding. Reported it in check out and they apologised and offered 10,000 Bonvoy points which was appreciated 3. No coffee machine or kettle in the room - complimentary coffee was available in the morning at the lobby bar but there is nothing like waking up and making your own coffee. 4. Complimentary breakfast for Bonvoy members - no lounge so breakfast offered in hotel restaurant and you are allocated $20 per person, however most menu items are above this and certainly by the time you add a coffee $20 is not sufficient. Service was however great and the breakfast potatoes were to die for!

The room had a partial ocean view, was very clean, and the housekeeping staff was very accommodating. From the valet outside, to the bellman, and the front desk staff, they were all very friendly and welcoming. I had a small problem with the billing for my room but after speaking with Santi in Accounting, everything was taken care of. The 1st night we were given a room at the front of the hotel, which was noisy from cars racing along the street, but after raising this with reception we were given a new room which was slightly smaller but lovely. The gym was superb. We did hire a cabana at the pool - which i wouldn't recommend. The pool staff had no idea what was included in the cabana package and we were bought over a fruit basket that we hadn't asked for but were still charged for?! Also we were given a menu to order from the restaurant, but when we went to the restaurant we were advised they weren't serving that menu and food options were very limited, which was just a pain!! One other minor thing, we went to hire free bikes, filled in all the paperwork only to be told (after being stood around for half an hour) that there were no bikes available at this time! Decent hotel, would definitely recommend, but not an exceptional property. Top tip there is a multistorey car park very close by which costs a fraction of what the hotel charges

They went over and beyond helping our family plan and find safe areas to travel and suit the needs for every age group. - julio (10/5): - It was our first experience at a 4-star hotel, and it couldn’t have been better! From the moment we arrived, and throughout our stay, it felt like we were in a completely different world—cozy, elegant, luxurious, and refined. Honestly, it felt just like us, if I may say so lol. The front desk and all the staff were incredibly attentive, always checking in to make sure we were having a great stay. One tip for anyone staying there: include breakfast in your package. The restaurant is excellent and the breakfast is amazing! Parking is paid, but I believe that for anyone who can afford to stay at a hotel like this, the extra cost for parking won’t be an issue. The hotel is very well located, and we barely used the car. There are plenty of nearby options for activities and restaurants. What we enjoyed most was riding bikes—and our tip is to rent those electric Veo bikes. The beach by the hotel is fantastic, and they offer beach chairs for guests. I wasn’t a big fan of the individual umbrella that attaches to the chair—I would’ve preferred a large Tommy Bahama-style umbrella available for guests. A solid 10 for the gym, which is essential for our daily routine. It has plenty of equipment and you can work all muscle groups. The pool is beautiful and overlooks the beach, though I do think it could be a bit larger considering the size of the hotel. Thank you to everyone for the memories we made there!

The public spaces and rooms are updated to the highest standards, and the design is upscale and modern. Relaxing space to be in. Location with proximity to the beach and pier couldn’t be much better. Havia um ruído constante e alto — possivelmente vindo do ar-condicionado — que dificultava o sono. Como o quarto era conjugado, o isolamento acústico era fraco, e conseguíamos ouvir claramente conversas e outros ruídos do quarto vizinho, o que foi bem desconfortável, especialmente por eu estar viajando com meu filho adolescente. Embora o hotel tenha uma ótima localização e um design geral atraente, sinto que as condições do quarto não condizem com a tarifa premium cobrada. Com algumas melhorias no isolamento acústico, a experiência do hóspede seria significativamente melhor.

He did an amazing job at checking us in and even provided a complimentary champagne for my special occasion. He made our check-in process welcoming, smooth, and quick! From the minute we stepped out of the car greeted by Jesus, Jose and Palmer and then assisted by Apollo and checked in by Alex - the service was exemplary! The greeting was so warm and convivial. You were instantly relaxed and knew you were in for a fantastic stay! Other friends who checked in commented on the wonderful warmth and sincerity of the valet and lobby staff when they arrived as well! Once our group had gathered at our table, the food was just beyond delicious and our servers some of the best I’ve ever had! There were 20 people in our group and everyone complimented the delicious dishes that were served! It truly is a great varied and flavorful menu! As one of the organizers of the event, I felt 100% that I made the right choice in choosing the Sandbourne Hotel and restaurant for a reunion!
