Guest Reviews
- Christopher (7/5): Good location if wanting to be in Trastevere - Location Nondescript. No character
- Maria (10/5): Yes yes yes perfect would definitely recommend - Minders sleek comfortable had all the facilities you would need so smart Stylish finish throughout very contemporary beautiful and bed was perfect
- maria (10/5): -
- Tania (8/5): Enjoyed our stay, easy entry and departure process 😁 - Good location and it was awesome to have a washing machine available Pull out sofa bed in lounge was uncomfortable and looked to be broken
- Brets (8/5): -
- Neil (10/5): - Clean, spacious and cool
- Daniela (9/5): Good value for money apartment in a nice neighbourhood - Clean, modern apartment with comfortable bed. Nice location close to many nice restaurants and food options. Walking distance to the Vatican and city centre We had a little trouble drying our clothes
- Salazar (10/5): Overall, it was a wonderful experience. We loved the location, and the apartment was absolutely perfect. I can’t wait to - Everything was perfect. N/A
- Matt and vicki (9/5): we loved our stay - Excellent location broken curtains in bedrooms upstairs
Noise
- Belinda (8/5): Great AC, clean, good location - Appeared like pictures, clean, roomy, good air conditioning. One of the rugs had a weird smell, showers could have been cleaner, a lot of communication issues with the app.
- Todd (9/5): Superb -
- Doherty (9/5): Excellent apartment, great communication and in a young and vibrant part of Roma. - This was so great for me and my teenage and young adult son. It is fun, loud and vibrant and a quick walk across the Tiber. It was spacious with room to hang out washing and reallly comfortable. Fabulous and great value for money. Next time I would request an apartment on a higher level or at the back or the block as the streets are packed with people especially late on weekend evenings.
- Menard (7/5): Good - Air conditioning remote doesn't work
- Callanan (9/5): Superb -
- Lorraine (8/5): Spacious, comfortable and clean! -
- Danilo (9/5): Superb - The location and the apartment per se.
- Emilio (6/5): - The flat condition was not that good....many things broken, very very noisy, the coffee machine not working (come on, just remove it, no?), the stairs are very noisy, so you wake up everybody else...careful...
- Indira (10/5): - I would recommend this property any time! the impeccable condition of this apartment and building in general were outstanding. It was a family trip and we enjoyed it so much.
A 2 story apartment, one spacious bathroom, and with working AC was the highlight of our summer trip.
There is a restaurant, a gelato store and a mini convenient store right outside the property, but many other options withing walking distance.
In Rome you must be very careful with properties that claim to be HOTELS, a lot of times they are dumps! Not this one, we are so happy we would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to all our friends.
- Ewen (5/5): Passable - The apartment looked nice. The location was in the middle of a lively area so everything on hand and tourist spots easily accessible...albeit very noisy. Not great kitchen equipment, so if you're thinking of doing any cooking it's very basic...minimal at best. There was no flexibility on the 4pm check in, which was disappointing...I haven't been anywhere in my extensive travel experience that had a check in that late. Very impersonal corporate managed apartment.
- Peter (2/5): Overpriced and incredibly poor - Location was good. The Internet did not work.
The TV did not work
The room was not ready at check in
The room was not clean
There were no staff around just an online chat bot
No attempt was made to resolve the issues.
- Alitsyia (10/5): Amazing - We loved our stay at this beautiful property! Location is great, it’s very clean, communication with the host was easy! We will come back for sure!
- Asaf (6/5): - The apartment is located in a beautiful neighborhood and the space itself is very spacious and well-equipped with everything you might need. However, some of the furniture was not in great condition, and the stairs leading up to the gallery area were extremely creaky. Also, towels were not replaced during the stay, which was a bit disappointing.
- Marina (8/5): Very good - Location, Sadly flat was just above some bars so chat in street below kept us awake.
Also air conditioning not working
- See-kay (2/5): Okay stay, the dust, noise and the moldy washer and dryer really was disappointing but location was great. - Proximity to restaurants and attractions Dusty, noise issues - can hear a lot of noises upstairs and next door. The washer and dryer full of mould. My friend didn’t realise and washed her clothes in a moldy washer/dryer. I only found out after when I went to use it to wash and dry the bath towel.
- Tetyana (1/5): Terrible - I arrived late at night, exhausted and dreaming of the room I had actually booked. For some reason, I was given a different one. The room I got instead strongly resembled a crime scene—or perhaps a haunted community center. Scratched walls, broken boards…
But the true highlight? The rich, bold, and sticky aroma of raw sewage wafting through the air. It was so thick and fragrant, you could taste it.
Naturally, we asked for a room change. Silly us. “No rooms available,” they said—but they did suggest we run all the taps for five minutes, like we were trying to summon a sanitation demon. Spoiler alert: it didn’t help. Housekeeping promised to come and pour cleaner into the sewage. Nothing changed.
And let’s talk amenities. The light bulbs in the loft were more decorative than functional. The coffee machine? Dead. The dishwasher? Also dead. I half expected the bed to burst into flames just to complete the theme of “everything is broken.”
In addition, the hotel was in the city center, so we could hear people partying outside. They promised earplugs. Guess what? Those were missing and never delivered. Location
- Niyati (7/5): Moderately good. - The apartment is located in a lovely neighborhood in Trastevere. The size of the apartment is good. The customer chat service is good, they responded to my queries promptly. The bathroom is on the upper floor, making it inconvenient for my parents to climb up the stairs everytime. The stairs made creaky sounds, so anyone who visits the washroom would wake everyone up in the house. I was disappointed that a property managed by Marriott would charge a cleaning fee of 41€ over and above the booking charges.
- Anastasiya (10/5): - Nice , comfortable and clean room, at great location. Everything in walkable distance. Definitely would love to stay there next time we visit Rome.
- Mikhail (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect location, easy access, instant communication.
- Emma (8/5): Very good. Recommend. - Location was perfect for us. By all the restaurants. Apartment 6 on first floor. We heard noise sometimes but was not at all bad. Lots of space in apartment. Access to items to top up such as coffee pods, dishwasher tablets, kitchen till, bin bags, washing machine powder. Washing machine was also tumble drier so getting laundry done was great! No vegetables peeler or cheese grater.
Lighting in bathroom is very dark - cannot donate up very well.
- Lewis (10/5): Great accommodation in a great area - Having not being to Rome before we were unsure where in the city to stay, and hit the jackpot in Trastevere, with so much choice of food and bars the area. I had read reviews on here about it being noisy but that wasn’t an issue, there’s a background noise of the street below but I don’t know what else people expect in a city. The accommodation was incredibly clean, spacious and had everything needed for the 5 days we were there.
- Merav (9/5): Superb -
- John (10/5): Amazing experience - This place was great. It was in a great location. Had many restaurants nearby and a good atmosphere. The public transport was also like a 5 minute walk from the apartment. The only minor issue was 1 or 2 nights of the stay it could get noisy due to the busyness of the area but they do provide earplugs to block it out which i thought was a nice touch.
- Lyndab (3/5): Poor - We didn't like the property or the location We didn't like this property, the area is not family friendly, it's very noisy, lots of graffiti and smells like urine all around the alleys.
- Ken (8/5): A great week in Trastevere - location and daylight The broken sofa bed and lack of towels
- IRIS (8/5): - It was roomy unit for family and friends. However, there was one bathroom upstairs. Towels were old. Our unit faced to noisy street.
We had a bit problem when check in. But operator is very quick to answer and solve any issues right away.
- Caroline (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bondt (4/5): Dusty and dirty floors - I cannot recommend these apartments. Tiny room on the first floor and second floor with the bed. All very dusty, dirty floors, cold and humid (in March). Bed was not comfortable.
The worst thing is that you can hear every word or move your neighbours are doing. It's impossible to sleep because of that. In general, I had a bad experience and can not recommend it to anyone.
- Robert (9/5): Superb -
- Karen (10/5): Perfect location for 3 plus days in Rome. - The location was close to the main attractions whilst still being in an area frequented by locals. We felt like we could step away from the chaos of Rome while still having it on our door step. Our apartment was on the edge, rather than in central Trastevere so again we felt removed by a degree which suited our vibe. Everything we required was on our door step, including grocer, wine bar, coffee and gelato. We walked to every major tourist attraction over 6 days and caught only 2 taxis whilst in Rome. Bed was a little firm for our liking.
- Karen (9/5): Great location with lots of dining and local atmosphere. - The location was perfect for easy walking to meals and main attractions. The area had a great atmosphere and we loved many cafes and restaurants around the apartment.
It was easy to contact the staff regarding any questions we had. I would definitely recommend this apartment. The bed was a bit firm for our liking.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely, hospitable and jolly - Beautiful area, lovely apartment with all utilities.
Perfect for people who love late nights, joyful neighborhoods and colorful quaint very busy bars and restaurants.
- Peter (4/5): Disappointing - The location was great Very dirty
- Jamie (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing Appartment Nothing
- 李 (10/5): Exceptional -
- Catalina (10/5): - The flat was great, very clean, and very well equipped with everything you'd need. It's located in an amazing area with lots of coffe places and restaurants, and it only takes 15 to 25 minutes walking to get to the most famous places in Rome, and although the area the building is in can get very busy, the flat itself is always quiet. It's the perfect place to enjoy and explore the city!
- Daniel (9/5): A lovely place in a beatiful destination - Love the room location, and all the ammenities. The beds can be more confortable, our bed had some structure issues which affected our sleep
- MARIA (10/5): - Una suite maravillosa, ubicación perfecta y sus alrededores llenos de vida. Súper recomendada
- Arnold (8/5): - The WiFi on our laptops did not function—
Message about no working ACA password for
Sonder. A disappointment easy enough for management to deal with once and for all.
- Laura (7/5): Great although .. - Location is great, amongst bars and restaurants. Appreciate the lift to manage our luggage. Enjoyed hearing the night-life and people taking their evening walks. Very safe and private They should manage the intense smell from the old pipes which, when we raised the issue, they suggested we run the water .. in the showers, basins, bidet. Not what I'd expect i need to do as the guest. The smell returned almost daily. Could not have bathroom doors left even slightly open, at all. While you can replenish paper towel, toilet paper, soap, tea, salt/pepper, from an open cabinet in a lobby on the floor, there were no coffee pods after our first day. No washing machine detergent supplied either and you'll only get one bath towel and (thick, sheet-like) hand towel for a four-night stay.
- Matt (9/5): Superb -
- Alyssa (10/5): I'd definitely stay here again and will be looking for other Sonder locations! - The location of this spot is fantastic, right in the heart of Trastevere and across from one of our favorite restaurants, Pimm's Good. The accommodations were modern amidst an old world neighborhood. It was easy access for my family and the room was stocked with all essentials for cooking at home (though we never did because of the amazing restaurants nearby). The staff was accessible and friendly and we felt very safe. It got a little noisy at night with all of the activity outside, but we managed that and it was worth it being in that location. Perhaps a little more attention to soundproofing could help, but again, it wasn't an issue.
- Marina (6/5): Pleasant - Perfect location, nice building Very noisy. Trastevere is noisy by default but the windows should be replaced, it is impossible to sleep and it should be fixed.
The bed and sofa bed were not comfortable, the upstairs toilet had an awful smell
- Paul (4/5): Lively area, OK accommodation, serious problems with water and drainage, no rely from Sonder. - The accommodation itself - the size, bedroom, kitchen facilities - was mostly acceptable (and we were prepared for the noise). There were serious problems with the hot water supply and drainage smells that ruined our experience.
On days 1 and 2, we were only able to have lukewarm water after running a shower for over 10 minutes. By day 3, the water management had malfunctioned, prompting a service call and an electricity reset (that I could have performed myself if prompted - much like during a previous apartment in Rome when Sonder asked me to go down to the garage to reset the fuses). By the last day, we were back to warm water after a lengthy delay. The maintenance engineer told me that the issue was a boiler system very far away from the property, causing routine delays in hot water (never really flagged up by Sonder before or during the stay).
Each time we used any water in the shower, the smell in the drains was unacceptable. We essentially had to choose between being clean and smelling a rotten room or not having enough water to reignite the smell.
I emailed these concerns to Sonder but received no reply (after 4 weeks).
- Maritza (8/5): - Great location to stay near the action in Rome but not right in the middle of it.
Nice loft apartment with basic amenities
Smelled slightly of mildew near downstairs bathroom but otherwise good stay
- Benjamin (9/5): Excellent apartment in a great location. - Excellent location. Lovely, spacious apartment. Strange upstairs shower with very weak water pressure
- Wendy (3/5): Poor -
- Mohanad (4/5): Excellent location is the real deal - Fantastic Location and very responsive customer service, spacious room with great renovation done, having 2 bathrooms is an added great benefit. Was wondering if I need to mention the below as customer service tried hardly to accommodate our requests but went in vain so just listing for future travellers specially to families with teens..
Check in process was a mess and we were kept out in street for 3 hours with luggage unable to check in or store our bags till they let us in ,where the housekeeping team didn’t clean up the previous mess.. The other point was hot water which required a full day to have a maintenance team visit.. Last and not least the extra bed required (couch flipped to a bed) was really bad and uncomfortable caused back pain to all…
- LaShawn (10/5): - fantastic! close to everything. very responsive and clean!
- Gelyn (10/5): - Todo lindo
- Marine (6/5): Spacious but overrated apartment in the best area - The area was amazing. Trastevere is one of my favorite boroughs in Rome, and the apartment is ideally located.
Furthermore, the flat is very spacious and it was mainly clean. Although the staff was easily reachable, they did not have much solution to offer to the few things we got disappointed about: the apartment was noisy and humid, and the shutters were not working properly.
When we let them know about the curtain, they asked for a video that we sent but it ended there. When we told them that the flat was noisy, they told us to use the available earplugs, that got brought to the building 2 nights after our check in, and when we noticed them about the humidity they said they would check but nothing really happened.
- Amelia (9/5): Great stay for a family! - We loved the location and having plenty of space for our family of 5.
- Q1956LTmikec (4/5): Great location…… but, issue and overall a little stressful - This could be a good place, it’s well appointed and in a great location. I stayed in the same loft unit twice this week. There are issues. It’s a little tough to find, a better picture/map on the app would help. The first night there were no towels except the floor mat type. That sort of sucked. There were no directions on using the A/C. When I finally found the remote it went to heat and got stuck…. For a while. The room was hot when I got there, so the heat was very unwelcome. There was no remote for the upstairs unit, so I could never get it to operate. One of the nights the lower unit could not cool the loft area, leaving it at about 80 degrees F, so I had to sleep in the much less comfortable sofa bed downstairs. I later found an extra towel, sealed in with the sofa bed blanket. The automated key function never worked on the inside door, the manually entered code worked about 25% of the time. Stressful when you think you won’t be able to get in.
- Rosemary (5/5): We did enjoy the location but for the price we were expecting a couple of nights of luxury. - The location was great. It is in a very convenient location so that we could walk to all the locations we wanted to visit. There were bars and restaurants outside the front door but the noise was not a problem. In the photographs it looked like a stylish apartment. Soon after arrival I lent against the dining table to open the window and the very cheap piece of furniture collapsed to the ground. Clearly the legs had fallen off the table before and had been badly repaired. Someone did come the next day to fix it which was good. The walls were very marked with suitcase marks all the way up the stairs and the showerhead in the bathroom was so close to the glass shower screen that you couldn't stand under it.
- Scott (7/5): Fun - Clean, modern, good location No hot water, couldn’t take a shower
- Manveen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gabriella (6/5): Pleasant - Great location bright airy apartment The wtairs felt a bit unsafe and no bathroom on main living area
- Amir (9/5): Superb -
- Cynthia (10/5): - Very clean, amazing space! Very spacious! Enough room for a family of 4 (or 5 with small children). Property manager was very helpful! I will definitely stay here again!
- Mike (9/5): Superb -
- Lior (6/5): - I would like to point out that the area of the property is just outstanding, really enjoyed walking distance attractions, its really a lovely neighborhood.
The property management team was good responding to my inquiries with any little issue.
The reason I am giving them just a three stars is the poor judgement to charge me another night after I have mistakenly booked it to my flight date, not noticing I am landing the day after.
I have noticed my mistake an hour after booking the room, I have reached out to the hotel and asked to adjust my stay to the correct date, but they have decided to show zero flexibility to human error correct an hour after the booking has been done.
In my book that's a very poor way of doing business.
The other minor issue is that the bathroom downstairs can't even fit a person to close the bathroom glass door. not a big deal as there is a larger bath upstairs.
- Sarah (8/5): Nice comfortable apartment in the Centre of Trastevere - Property is well located and has an elevator Had an issue with front door the whole stay and that’s ok - but Staff could’ve been more accommodating with a late checkout and felt they did not care .
- Mehmet (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wido (7/5): Good -
- Yoon (6/5): - We booked 5 nights. Our first night, the AC wasn’t working. Online management offered a fan the next day which we had to wait until 2pm to receive. Then they offered another room after our second night of no AC. Also had to wait until 3pm to switch. We lost two half days of sightseeing waiting around for the above. Worse, there is no way management didn’t know about the AC issue as there was already a fan in the main bedroom. Italy in late August is very hot. Extremely disappointed in losing time and the discomfort of two restless nights due to heat.
Otherwise, good location. We stay up late and didn’t mind the late night noise from the bars.
- Antonio (8/5): Sin aire acondicionado y mucho ruido.
- Yun (10/5): It’s wonderful to stay - Super clean, modern, air conditioning and washing machine Nothing
- Wesley (10/5): - Lively area
- Commisso (7/5): Lively neighborhood but too far from Rome's main attraction - Lively neighborhood with lots of great restaurants to choose from. Air conditioner was leaking water before we arrived and the floor was covered in water from the AC the next morning. It was fixed the next day however would have preferred it done before our arrival.
Staircase to loft was very narrow and felt unsafe.
It was overpriced for the area and based on the the above comments and living area was a bit tight if sofa bed is left opened.
Not a preferred place to stay. It was far from main attractions in Rome around 30 min walk/bus trip.
- Tatiana (10/5): Can’t beat the location! Modern and priced fairly - Location was amazing. Staff was great! Apts were nicely updated. We will stay again. Sofa bed was uncomfortable for more than one night.
- Mia (8/5): - The location of the building is outstanding.
The unit itself is wonderful. Spacious and comfortable.
/super convenient is every level
Would rent and recommend it in a heart beat.
I would change the mattress ASAP.
- giuseppina (10/5): - Great property very spacious and the fact it had 2 bathrooms was a bonus
- Alexandre (10/5): - Location location location ;). Its in a very good spot walkable to majo attractions and close to many very good restaurants. The best gelato we had was just next door and half price of those downtown.
- Bjorn (9/5): Superb -
- Ashleigh (8/5): - We really enjoyed our stay at the Sonder Trastavere. It is centrally located near restaurants and nightlife. The property felt safe and our apartment was very large, easily accommodating four travellers. The showers had good water pressure, the air conditioning was cold and steady. We didn't use the kitchen, other than the fridge to keep drinks cold, but it did look to have decent provisions. We had an issue with the pullout couch on the first night. It was very rocky and unstable. We contacted Sonder and they quickly sent a technician to assess the situation. He was not able to fix it so they had a replacement couch brought in and removed the original couch, all on the day we notified them of the issue. We also had to reach out about another question and they responded very quickly. The customer service was excellent. One recommendation I would make is to label the switches. There are a lot of switches for lights and other features and it was not intuitive as to what the switches were controlling. With a little trial and error, we figured it out but that would be a nice addition.
- Hitesh (10/5): Excellent modern spacious property - Excellent modern Had few issues but all sorted
- Marisa (10/5): Fantastic location - The location of this Sonder is fantastic. It is right in the middle of the trastevere with so much going on right outside the front door. It is a little loud at night but we couldn’t hear too much in our unit. The only issue we had was that the upstairs AC unit wouldn’t stay on making it quite hot in the bedroom. We chatted with them a bit and finally figured it out but the first two nights of sleep were very uncomfortable. Overall I would definitely stay here again though. It was great to be in that location with air conditioning and Netflix when we needed to take a break from the heat and crowdedness of Rome.
- Senay (7/5): Good -
- Shiraz (9/5): It was a great choice - Clean, good location, good service, nice apartment It was hot in the upper floor and we couldn’t find the remote of the ac
- Raymond (9/5): Trastevere trip July 2024 - excellent facilities and location Nothing
- Sara (10/5): Beautiful spacious apartment in the heart of Trastevere. - The apartment was comfortable, the space very well organized, we loved the layout and the style.
The neighborhood is very lively at night, but we didn’t mind. The buzz didn’t bother us. Not recommended if you need quiet to sleep.
- Dana (10/5): We very much enjoyed our stay at Sonder Trastevere. It was spacious and well functioning and in a terrific location. - The location was terrific! Many pubs and restaurants right out the door. Apartment was spacious and had a washer (not dryer) which was useful. Also great to have two bathrooms for a family of 4. The pull out couch was reportedly not very comfortable and it was noisy. Over the weekend some pubs put tables in the alley in front of the apartment so could hear people late into the night.
- Maria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bayan (9/5): Great space for 3 people, central location and super clean. - Great space for 3 people, great location - walking distance to everything. Easy check-in and check-out experience. Room was super clean, sofa bed was prepared as mentioned, staff were responsive and helpful. AC remote control is extremely confusing to use, but staff were responsive when we needed help. Slightly noisy outside as its a popular restaurant and pub area.
- Mohit (4/5): Average room needs repairs - We arrived early and they facilitated to leave our luggage. AC was not working
Leakages in the upper mezzanine bathroom
Coffee pods not replinshed
No hot water
- Catherine (10/5): A last minute gem. - Great location in the heart of Trastavere.
The staff were great. I had an original booking where the property manager was a no show, the staff at Sonder were so patient and accommodating in the circumstances and communication was excellent.
Very modern apartment with everything I needed. As a solo traveller, I always felt safe. I would book with Sonder again. Would suit all types of traveller. Can be noisy, it's in the heart of Trastevere, but it was not bothersome.
