- Diane (8/5): Great Location - The staff was outstanding. They were extremely helpful, cheerful and accommodating. The breakfast and food in general was terrific...not gourmet... just delicious. The hotel was clean with very comfortable beds and the location was superb. I didn't like the slippery floor in the bathroom. It seemed to be designed to cause an a accident. In fact, my husband did fall. Dangerous. The decor in the lobby needs an upgrade .

It took one week and four follow-up emails, and I still have not received what I originally requested. It is honestly shameful that for such a simple, standard invoice request, the post-stay service can be so complicated and inefficient. Throughout the process, I was given inconsistent information, my name was misspelled in every email, and a manager who was supposed to assist me never followed up. Overall, the post-stay service is far below acceptable standards and has seriously impacted my overall experience.

- Srib155 (10/5): Luxury room with a view! - Great property in the city center with amazing views of the Sagrada familia and the city is an ideal place to stay while in Barcelona. I stayed here during my visit to Barcelona in the first week of February. I did an early check in as I wanted to go to Montserrat that afternoon. My room was upgraded and IT had best view of the temple and the tower near by. Room was on the top floor and very cozy and well furnished. Breakfast on the 2nd floor was excellent, the spread was huge and had several local dishes to try. One could order the menu as well. Special thanks to Montse at the front desk who ensured that the room way ready and our requests were addressed. This is a very good place and I'll definitely go back.

- 517samw (10/5): Great location, good rooms - Had a great time at the hotel. It is in a great location for walking to most places but also by a train line. Has some nice restaurants close by. Room was very modern, comfortable and clean and larger than most rooms. Also a big thank you to Ricardo who asked if we wanted to speak Spanish or English checking in and then asked me lots of questions in Spanish which allowed me to practice more. Really appreciated, especially as so many people will respond in English in most cases.

- andrewaX1958FJ (10/5): Renaissance Barcelona Review - From the moment we got to the hotel (in a Mercedes Van scheduled by the staff) we were instantly greeted by the doormen Mouhammad and the other (I can't remember his name), who took our bags and waited on us to check in. At the front desk we were greeted by the amazingly charismatic Cristina, who discussed with us our travel day, our plans for our stay and even pulled out a map of the city and recommended some great places to us, including how to traverse Barceloneta and which clubs had the best atmosphere as we wanted a taste of the authentic Barca nightlife. Then she told us of our upgraded room and the complimentary mini fridge items, and the trip couldn't have gotten off to a better start, as we needed a break and rest in our room. Not 5 minutes after getting to the room, our luggage arrived, and about 15 minutes after that we received a complimentary bottle of red and some chocolates from the hotel. What an amazing welcome! The rest of the stay was just as great, as we were able to talk with the Goja Rooftop hostess and reserve the couch just an hour in advance for our apertivos. Finally, upon departure (a 4pm checkout that Cristina input for us on the arrival) we were treated as friends of the staff as we'd been when we arrived and throughout our stay, always chatting, smiling and friendly. Also, if you ever need a boxed water, they're one step ahead of you and already handing it to you before the words can come out of your mouth! 10/10 experience, or 5 stars in this instance!

- machogrande123 (8/5): Nice Hotel - This is a good hotel that is in a nice location. I stayed here 4 nights in early October 2025 and would recommend it to anything staying in Barcelona. The staff was friendly and the hotel was close to some good restaurants - it was also about a 20 minute walk to the Born / Gothic areas of town. I enjoyed my stay - would stay again - stayed here with Marriott points and was given free breakfast each day. The breakfast was very good.

The room was very nice and the food was excellent in all three restaurants. However, the view from the rooftop restaurant should not be missed. Most important, though, was the spectacular service provided by virtually every member of the staff. Thay all made us feel very welcome and at home. In particular, I would single out Guest Services for figuring out where we could attend the nearest church service when we arrived, Concierge Steve Marques who managed to find us a terrific tour of Sagrada Familia on very short notice as well as providing the names of some excellent local spots in the area, and, finally, the Front Desk and Housekeeping staffs for locating an item of clothing that was left behind and securing it for us until we could return to pick it up. We will absolutely be staying in the Marriott Renaissance the next time we are in Barcelona because of the staff’s superb performance.

- amiraO9371LH (2/5): A Deeply Disappointing Experience at the Renaissance Barcelona - As a Marriott Bonvoy Silver Elite member, I’ve stayed at countless Marriott properties—from Residence Inns to Autograph Collection hotels—and have come to expect a certain standard of quality and service. Unfortunately, the Renaissance Barcelona fell shockingly short on every level. We stayed in Room 315 for three nights while in town for a wedding, and by the end of our stay, both my wife and I were covered in bed bug bites. We later learned that other wedding guests staying at the hotel experienced the same issue. This raises serious concerns about the hotel's cleanliness and overall sanitation practices. Service was equally disappointing. On one morning, housekeeping knocked on our door at 8:00 AM to clean the room—something I’ve never encountered at any hotel, especially one catering to leisure travelers. Additionally, our coffee packets were not replenished despite multiple requests, and the in-room phone did not allow us to contact the front desk directly. The breakfast was mediocre at best, offering little variety or quality worth noting. While the service issues were frustrating, the presence of bed bugs is unacceptable and overshadows all else. I would strongly caution others against staying at this property until the hotel addresses these serious hygiene and service shortcomings.

It’s really like a 4 star at best What I liked: outstanding staff and doormen despite how busy it is. Rooms are always very clean. Good views from the rooftop Great location which is why it stays in my rotation Cons: rooms can feel a little cramped. Smaller bathrooms Standing shower infuriates me. The little half glass design is so terrible. On my most recent stay I had a shower that didn’t have the appropriate grade so water basically floods the bathroom very quickly. Guessing this is why the room smelt a little damp when I walked in. It’s probably been repeatedly flooded. Which brings me to my next point, poor AC probably not helping with the dampness in the air. I think it struggles to cool or remove the humidity properly so there’s that and I’ve noticed it on a few occasions. Could hear normal conversations from my neighbors. I repeat because it’s a solid value and I like the location for a bonvoy property. But there are levels to 5 star hotels and this is not the edition for example lol

It’s in a great location, steps from Sagrada Familia, Casa Battlo and a bus ride away from the beach. It was one of the best hotel experiences I’ve had from a staffing and location perspective.

While we were out and about most of the day, we were always so excited to return to our hotel. The strong AC in the lobby welcomed us followed by perfect AC in the room. The cold drinks in the minibar quenched our thirst from the hot summer days. The room is spacious and efficient. They have thought of everything from the toothbrush, toothpaste and amenity kit in the bathroom to the hot water kettle for tea and coffee. Comfy bed and great assortment of pillows. The master light switch by the bed. The location is central with lots of cafes, restaurants, supermarkets and shopping nearly as well as all the sights in a walkable distance. This was our first visit to Barcelona and Renaissance Barcelona was the perfect hotel!

- Venture51948628971 (10/5): Lovely hotel and superb staff - The hotel provides thoughtful touches that we really appreciated, ranging from the infused water in the lobby, free drinks in the room (replenished daily), towels by the plunge pool, room robes & slippers. The bed was amazingly comfortable with numerous pillows to suit your preference. The bathroom was spacious with helpful amenities. We loved the rooftop bar with misting fans. And while the plunge pool was small, it was great to cool off there and hang out by the bar with cool drinks. (It does close at 7pm, so cool off before dinner!) While we were underwhelmed by the food quality at the rooftop bar / restaurant, Goja, the service, however, made up for it. Decent selection of wines by the glass. We spent quite a bit of time up there, and really enjoyed the views of the city. The location is fantastic. We also considered staying at Le Meridien, but once we walked by that hotel, we were grateful to have chosen the Renaissance.

The location is excellent, and you can walk to many restaurants, bars, and important sight in the city. Check in was smooth and our room was ready early. We had a view of the Sagrda Familia church from our room. Our room was very spacious with large TV, refrigerator stocked with soda and water. Bathroom was large and nice. Lots of storage space and a large safe. We were in room 908 We had drinks at the Goja Rooftop restaurant. What great views and the staff was amazing. Great staff, great location, and we will be back.

(Steven is a renaissance man! See his lobby artwork). Tight room, like most in Europe. Great staff all around. Bar upstairs looks hot, but it was too hot to enjoy. Main floor bar opens at 5, and is well stocked. Beds and pillows are great. Good location.

The front desk, especially Mark, gave so many great suggestions for both dining and local attractions. We went to every suggested place and we were NOT disappointed! The staff is so friendly and accommodating. They truly take care of the public. I feel like they like what they do! It is a wonderful experience and in the heart of a great, beautiful location.
- Echo1112 (2/5): Loyal guests since 2011 – but Marriott failed us completely - We left a high-value item (a Balmain dress worth around EUR 2,000) in the wardrobe and contacted the hotel within 6 hours of check-out. Despite our repeated follow-ups, the hotel failed to provide any timely or meaningful response. When they eventually replied, they stated the item could not be found and that they “trusted their staff.” Over the next several days, we reached out multiple times to both the hotel and Marriott Bonvoy customer service. Despite our Platinum Elite membership since 2011, we received no accountability, no investigation details, and no support. Both the hotel and Bonvoy pushed responsibility back and forth — then simply let the issue fade away without offering any apology or compensation. Adding to this, during our three-night stay, our room suffered from ceiling water leakage for two full days — an issue that was never properly addressed either. In the end, it was our Swiss household insurance that reimbursed us — not Marriott. For a property operating under the Marriott brand, this level of negligence and disregard for loyal guests is unacceptable. We will not return, and would strongly advise others to think twice.

- 584Traveler (4/5): Marriott Platinum Elite Member - Do not let the brand of a Renaissance by Marriott fool you, not a 5 star hotel, maybe 3 star. Since we were flying to Barcelona from the States, I requested an early check-in of 12 noon through the Marriott app. And as our travel date got closer, I received an email from the Manager of the hotel a week before our travel date welcoming us to the hotel and asking if there was anything that we needed. I responded asking for the early check-in and mentioned that I made a request on the app previously as well. The email reply was that they could not guarantee anything for an early check-in. As it turns out, my flight was delayed and we finally arrived at the hotel at 3pm, exhausted and ready for a quick snooze and shower. Unbelievably, my room was not ready at 3pm; therefore, my recommendation is to not stay at this hotel if you are traveling from abroad. When we did get our room, we had one towel in the room and that was it, no wash clothes, hand towels or anything else. We were not sure if this was a Spain thing with the towels. The next day we asked for towels and did receive some, but no wash clothes. Have you ever tried to wash yourself in the shower with the liquid soaps on the shower wall? After two days, we finally got wash clothes. I also wanted to provide other feedback of the hotel. Our room was very small, and after we checked out and boarded our cruise, we realized that our room on the cruise was actually bigger than our room at the Renaissance, go figure. We never actually felt like we had a working AC system, hot every night and we actually reported it and asked them to look at it. No feedback from the staff on this after it was reported. And as for our view from the room, we saw the top of another building adjacent to us. I would also mention that this does not have a pool, the picture of a pool is deceiving. As a Marriott Platinum Elite member I would have expected more, we made the best of what we had but the stay was disappointing to say the least.

- MickeyGW65 (8/5): Good Location in Barcelona - The hotel was very busy when we were there, but they had lots of helpful people to make things go smoothly. We appreciated the cool fruit water in the lobby after a long day of touring. Also, we were surprised at the small terrace attached to our room. It was lovely to sit outside and enjoy the evening. The room was spacious, comfortable, and clean. Also, don't miss the rooftop bar and cafe here. It has a great view of Sagrada Familia. The empanadas and sangria were delicious!
- Shev61 (8/5): Hotel Staff is Amazing - Here are the great things about this hotel: 1. The staff is amazing. Everyone is helpful and friendly and especially those that work on the rooftop bar. 2. Location is excellent. Very close to all the main sights which are accessible by foot or a short cab ride. Because it is not on the busiest street in Barcelona it is a quiet hotel. 3. Shower. Excellent water pressure and amenities. 4. Breakfast. A very good buffet that has more than enough options to get your morning started right. Here are the things that are just OK: 1. Rooms. I found them to be cramped and a challenge to navigate when sharing with other adults. 2. Bed. Not the most comfortable bed but decent. 3. Fitness Center. Pretty basic but does have all you need to have a decent workout. All in all a good but not great hotel but great staff and a great location for which to set up as a base camp.
- lynne (8/5): Great location and staff but not with the price due to poor bathroom design & cleanliness issues - The location is fantastic- just a short walk to LaRambla, which made exploring the city easy and enjoyable. The staff were always warm, friendly, and helpful throughout my stay, which made a big difference. The room was clean & comfortable, and the complimentary drinks and water were a welcoming touch, especially after a long day of sightseeing. The rooftop bar was a real highlight- a fun, lively atmosphere with great views and excellent food. I especially enjoyed the empanadas! However, despite these positives, the hotel felt overpriced for what was offered. The bathroom design was frustrating: the shower door did not keep the water out of the rest of the bathroom and would spill over and pool around the toilet. I had to use towels to manage the overflow. Most concerning of all, I encountered a large cockroach in the shower, which was obviously unsettling for a hotel of this caliber. I short, I had a pleasant stay thanks to the great staff, location and rooftop experience, but based on the room issues and overall value, I couldn't consider this a five-star property. The shower door: water always came out into the rest if the bathroom. There was also a large cockroach in the shower.

- CAgirlPasadena_MD (4/5): Disappointing Renaissance experience - Hotel is well located among restaurants and shopping. The hotel itself has very poor AC. Rooms hardly cool down even with curtains closed. Also rooms are noisy. We had a junior suite and every time one next door used shower we heard it. When lying in bed our other neighbor could be heard opening closing closet doors. Lastly the breakfast buffet was very disappointing. Coffee not good, no cortado available in the espresso machine, nothing creative or unique on the buffet, no special juices. Food just so, so. Disappointed with this Marriott property.
- howardwchen (2/5): Paper thin walls, super loud - don't expect good sleep. There were bugs in our room. - We had two separate stays at this hotel. On the first stay, we were woken up in the middle of the night by people walking up and down the halls because the walls are paper thin. We could hear all of our neighbors' conversations. We had a hard time sleeping through the night due to the amount of noise disruption we experienced. On the final night, the hot water in the shower stopped working in the middle of the night and we were unable to shower. The front desk agent said to run the hot water in the sink to help the shower water turn hot. I kid you not, this is a supposed good hotel. Also, the suggested hack did not work and we showered in cold water. Against our better judgement, we came back for a second stay 4 days later after returning to Barcelona because we were promised a quiet room - but that promise was not met. It could be just that the rooms were so poorly built that there isn't a quiet room on the entire property. We could hear our neighbor every time they turned on the faucet or flushed the toilet. We could also hear everytime a employee went into the hallway closet to retrieve supplies. What appeared to be the air conditioning unit made a loud grinding/vibrating noise every 5-15 minutes throughout the night and prevented my wife and I from sleeping through the night. Lastly, there were moths in our room. We initially thought it wasn't a big deal and killed the first two we saw. But throughout the next day, found at least 5-6 more. Gross. Our experience here was terrible and we won't be coming back. Our 6 nights at this property has been the worst to date for us of nearly any hotel we've stayed at in recent years. We expected much more from the Renaissance.

One of the worst Renaissance I have experienced - Good location near a metro station, but the rooms (and broader hotel ambience) is just not worth the money, Firstly, as you walk in the entrance is graced by some rather odd looking plastic hydrangeas/flowers which add clutter and set the tone of a 90's hotel trying to be luxury. But the killer was the room. Recently renovated with an excellent shower, the killer was the outlook. There was a small balcony about 1m in depth, but with an opaque screen hiding a view of air conditioners. That opaque screen was at like a 1.6m height and created a sense of confinement and claustrophobia. The bed also suffered from the dreaded old hotel bed slope. The room was tiny - normally not something I would complain about, but I would struggle if my wife was staying at the same time. I am a Platinum Elite, so being given a room like this must mean that I had an upgrade on others.. which would imply other rooms are even worse! There is a fairly nice roof top bar. Perhaps the biggest saving grace. But really I cannot recommend anyone stay at this hotel for more than EUR 180. There are tons of better deals to be had.
