• janicerT2767XG (4/5): Not recommended. - Room was very rundown and was next to the public toilet area which was awful with 1 cubicle and 2 urinals . Felt very claustrophobic as the tiny window opened to what looked like a large pole. Very noisy with people passing the door to use the bathroom. I Asked to move and was offered a slightly bigger room in the basement also with no window. I was offered a complimentary breakfast when I went to reception. The reception area was nice and the staff friendly. The location was the best part of it . Check where your room is before you arrive as also the lifts have been out of order for a long time .
• 199martyna (2/5): Only book if you are not fussy! - Room and bed very tiny. My room was next to the downstairs toilet! The shower does not fit even a tiny person, it is a shower designed for a barge boat. Generally pretty poor apart from the location.
• Peejdj (8/5): Great value hotel. - Spent a night here after picking it up cheap on Secret Escapes. Hotel clean and tidy. Close to South Kensington tube. Bathroom good.
• 140corrines (10/5): Very nice - First time at this hotel. Arrived early and were allowed to leave our luggage so we could go out and about. Smooth book in and our room was very comfortable. Breakfast was across at the sister hotel across the road, plentiful, warm food as well as Continental. Staff at both locations were very warm and friendly. Stayed for 2 nights. On the morning of our departure again left our luggage so we could visit the National History Museum at the end of the road. Ideal location for the tube to explore further and plenty of places to eat nearby. A good stay.

I spent a week here exactly a month ago, and it was truly one of my most memorable experiences in London. From the moment I arrived, I was blown away by the hotel's generosity—they surprised me with a complimentary upgrade to a stunning Double Luxury Suite. The room was exquisite: a perfect blend of sophisticated decor, impeccable cleanliness, and that authentic, charming London atmosphere that makes South Kensington so special. The location is unbeatable. Having world-class museums and cozy cafes just a few steps away while enjoying such peace and privacy inside the hotel is a rare find. A special mention must go to the staff; their professionalism and genuine warmth made me feel like a truly valued guest. The Gainsborough has won my heart. If you are looking for a place where style, comfort, and sincere hospitality meet, this is it. I cannot wait to return! ✨🇬🇧

Rooms comfortable and clean. Breakfast is across the road on sister hotel. Plenty to eat and nice coffee. Staff all lovely in both hotels.

• Safari55983244684 (10/5): Excellent hotel - Our second stay here. Great location. Room was clean, warm and well stocked (water, tea , biscuits). Check in staff always have a smile. We had cocktails on Saturday evening at the Exhibitionist hotel across the road. A great Margarita. But the highlight again for us was breakfast at the Exhibitionist but included in our room mate. First class spread and service. Hope to make a third visit soon👍
• M2559EVmaxc (10/5): London Trip - Visited this hotel for a Premier League match with a group of friends. We stayed in the Gainsborough for a night and the location couldn’t have been better only 2 minutes from South Kensington tube station, aswell as that the National history museum just on its doorstep. Staff were so attentive and friendly in every way. We went for lunch in its sister hotel just across the road (The Exhibitionist) the food and cocktails were amazing. I couldn’t recommend this hotel more if your going to London for a trip.

• Linda (6/5): Disappointing in comparison to my last stay. - As a returning guest I knew what to expect. The too room was a good size and very clean. Sadly we had two situations which made our stay less good than we had hoped. On Sunday morning the fire alarms went off twice and we didn’t know what was happening and disturbed our rest. On Sunday Night there was a family in the room opposite with a screaming young child. We were very disturbed and this continued on and off during the night. Very poor nights rest.

• Beth (9/5): I will definitely stay there again! Great location, great value, really nice staff, - The hotel's location was ideal for visiting the area. It's just around the corner from the South Kensington station, which gives you access to three different Underground lines. My room was larger than I expected - London hotel rooms are notoriously small, and this was NOT the case! The breakfast was good. Yes, it was across the street, but it is only a short dash. As I mentioned above, not having breakfast in the building was probably the only thing I did not like about the hotel.

• Mai-Anh (8/5): Très bon séjour dans un hôtel confortable et bien situé. - L’hôtel est proche de la station de métro et des lieux touristiques Et la chambre était très propre et confortable Si je devais ajouter des points d’amélioration, je dirais qu’il faut changer le robinet dans la salle de bain car il est un peu difficile à manipuler. Et parfois, l’eau est bouillante quand on tourne un peu à gauche. Aussi, je pense qu’on pourrait également ajouter une brosse à toilette dans la salle de bain. Et enfin, il s’agit d’un détail mais les tiroirs des tables à chevet sont difficiles à tirer.

• Covadonga (10/5): Séjour au calme et hôtel très joli - La chambre était impeccable, lit simple mais très confortable. La chambre est spacieuse même si la salle de bain reste un peu petite. Les petites attentions (thé, café, biscuits) très sympas. Température réglable avec une climatisation individuelle, je n'ai pas eu froid du tout. Le personnel est hyper attentionné et à l’écoute. On peut déposer ses valises qui restent surveillées et aller découvrir avant check-in et après check-out. La salle de bains un peu petite. Je pense que pour le prix, le petit déjeuner pourrait être compris.

J’ai donc demandé à changer de chambre quitte à payer un supplément de 83,16€. Néanmoins, sans compter ce supplément, j’ai réglé 456,54€ alors que booking annonçait 439,54€. Cela est peut être dû au change de devises ? Par ailleurs ce tarif s’entend sans petit déjeuner facturé en supplément.

• Charlotte (8/5): - Great location for exploring london, inly a 5 minute walk to the underground, lots of restaurants within walking distance. The staff were friendly always greeted with a smile and a hello on entering the hotel. Room was spacious with lovely high ceilings and decorated tastefully, we especially liked the underfloor bathroom heating. Although we liked our room, a few areas that needed attention the bathroom drawer had not been cleaned with remnants of toothpaste smeared in the drawer and debris. One of the skirting boards near to rhe shower was rotten with damp and needed replacing. Tea/coffee splashes on the wall. Could do with a better tea coffee selection. Breakfast is accross the road (which was not a problem) however breakfast was disappointing, small breakfast room, so felt cramped and not enough staff to keep ok top of the number of customers. It's self serve with hot buffet offering bacon, scrambled eggs, sausages and beans, the sausages were undercooked - not able to eat, the beans were cold I did alert the staff to this they didn't even apologise or offer to rectify. Cold buffet poor selection. I would not want to eat breakfast here again.

• Clear310 (10/5): Perfect - I'm a regular costumer of this hotel by many years. The hotel was renovated some years ago, all is new and clean. Near South Kensington station, 5 minutes by walk; near the three of the best museums of London: Victoria & Albert, Natural & History and Science museum. The hotel staff is very nice and professional. In particolar, I had a lot of help from one person of the staff Emma Justin. This guy helped me a lot one time I broke my hand in London, when I was in hotel. Always smiling with all and always helpful wit all.

Located just a few mins from Hyde park, the hotel was tucked away in a quiet street while still giving us immediate access to central locations. The size of the room was really small, and especially the sink was so tiny that it made it difficult to brush our teeth or wash our face without water spilling everywhere

The room was quite noisy, I could hear people walking down the hallway and the TV from the neighbouring room at night, although this is an older building. Additionally, the cleanliness was 4 out of 5, the shower tray filled up very quickly. My deposit was not returned, with no reason or explanation provided, which was a bit disappointing.

Nice enough but room a little small particularly the shower which although very good was a little cramped for a person of my stature. Not a major problem but there nonetheless.
