- Gena (8/5): Great place to stay if you want a few days in Sydney CBD. - Ease of check in was a big plus and staff were professional and friendly and helped us to the room. Great view across to the naval base the hotel facilities were very good, breakfast was available in the cafe and it was lovely. The room was quirky in a good way and comfortable. Perhaps we were unlucky but the section we were in (3 sets of 2 rooms) was being refurbished, which I understand has to be done but perhaps don't let out the suites within that section because the drilling/vibrating and sawing started at 7am and was on the common wall that the bed abutted. Then as we tried to escape the noise with a coffee on the window seat the window cleaner appeared so we had to close the curtains, no big deal but still a bit off putting with workmen next door and outside, not sure who got the biggest surprise!!

- david (7/5): Great location, big room - The room is fantastic and the location on the proximity of the botanic gardens means the opera house is but a short walk away. If you like swimming then there is an outdoor 50m pool on the ocean a short walk away. Breakfast room. We opted to go to the Italian cafe over the road for more daylight and better coffee. The hotel's breakfast area is a bit dated and buffet style.

- leigh hobba (5/5): was not as good as usual --- we should have been consulted as to room type - check-in staff were friendly & efficient but nobody helped us bring in our luggage from the street as usually has happened on arrival in our previous stays at Ovolo. the breakfast staff were excellent and Matt makes superb coffee. the lady on recption --- sorry I gorget her name [Jah????] was very kind and helped us get our luggage to the car. she was excellent we asked for a room with a walk-in bathroom --- NOT a room for handicapped guests. we are NOT handicapped -- we just don't like showers over a bath tub --- and we have explained this point numerous times before. I wish someone would make a note about this because we are quite frequent clients. we didn't like at all the cramped space in the shower recess caused by it having a bench seat [for handicapped use] --- which we did not need nor want. it spoiled the comfort of the shower. the bathroom was very small and had minimal space for toiletries etc -- we have NEVER experienced this before at Ovolo in our frequent previous stays. also the drain from the hand basin in our room was blocked, and the basin took a very long time to drain each time we used it. this is unacceptable for a hotel of the standard and price of Ovolo

It made it impossible to relax and enjoy my stay. The coffee machine wasn’t working, and the sofa bed for my son wasn’t prepared upon arrival. Overall, it felt like the staff were doing me a favour rather than providing proper service. Honestly, I’ve stayed in many Ovolo properties before, and this one was disappointing on every level

- Robert (10/5): Modernes stylisches hotel direkt im Hafen von sydney - Wir hatten einen tollen Aufenthalt im Ovolo hotel, sehr modernes hotel in einer alten werft. Das Frühstück war jeden Tag perfekt, sehr frische und reichhaltige Produkte und tolle kaffeauswahl per Menü. Das Zimmer war grandios, mit riesigen Badezimmer. Zum Hotel gehört auch ein sehr schöner Pool und Fitnessraum und Sauna. Alles sehr modern, und stylisch. Außerdem ist die Lage perfekt, direkt am Hafen und fußläufig zum royal botanical garden mit einer traumaussicht auf Oper und harbour bridge. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

We’re walkers and enjoy access to the gardens and Potts Point. Room was not particular clean and had to dust and wipe down some of the surfaces. Placed all the hotel snacks in the drawer below the breakfast facilities (tea, coffee, etc) to give us room to make our morning tea etc. and then were billed for them after we left. Obviously the cleaning staff had not checked or cleaned any of the drawers. (We were credited after we rang and advised them.). The room and bathroom were a bit tired and generally needed a good clean. Room was very noisy as there was a wedding in the function room opposite our suite. Lots of loud music and a lot of very loud drumming while a Chinese dragon did a performance. Very clunky lift.

- Carmen (9/5): This is our second stay and we did enjoy the lovely location and surrounds near the Gardens! - We were booked in an hour earlier than expected, valet parking works well and room was large and comfortable with a lovely big bathroom, separate bath and shower recess and two entrances! Being charged, but then credited, for can of Coca Cola which we did not consume! But we had to ask for extra teabags as there were only two English Breakfast, our favourite. We also had to ask for two mugs for the tea which were not in the room when we arrived.

Suite also seemed a bit shabby - stained carpet / cramped bathroom with rectangular basin that water wouldn’t drain properly from.

- FreqFlyer1stHand (4/5): No to Ovolo, for now. - I really wanted to treat myself, relax and love my time at Ovolo - the location is fantastic but the experience just didn’t match the promise. Loft room unfortunately felt tired and poorly maintained. Tried to relax in the hot tub but it wasn't working in the pool area. There were some pretty basic hygiene issues: black paint flaking off the bathroom taps, serious visible mould in windows and vents (so much in one room that I asked to be moved to another), dust and spider webs sitting in ceiling beams, shower floor with ageing tiles and deep layers of pigeon droppings caked on the roof area above the one elevator that was working. Some furniture has clearly seen better days and the stained bedhead didn’t exactly inspire confidence. Sadly I was uncomfortable and had a really uneasy night as it just didn't feel clean. If it was not late in the day I would have checked out. To their credit, management responded and offered a free breakfast and mentioned upcoming renovations, which is positive - but it didn’t change the fact that I was out of pocket and had a really disappointing experience. Great spot, good bones - but it's a no to Ovolo… for now.

- Pierce (6/5): It badly needs renovation. I wouldn’t stay again - The central bar was good The hotel is so tired. My carpet was badly stained and the walls dirty looking. Paint and veneer was chipped and passageways were chipped and looked dirty
- Savannah (9/5): incredible property, location, and the service is always off the charts. this is our 3rd time back! - the proximity, views, and lore make this the perfect space to stay in Syd some tiny conveniences were out of order like one of the lifts and one of the drains having an issue. but it’s an historic building so we were more concerned with being in that place as a whole

- Alison (6/5): OK but lots to improve on - The room was spacious and I liked the view over the water. The bed was comfortable On arrival the reception staff treated me like I was invisible. Being a middle aged woman on her own what can you expect? No greeting of hello, I had to ask to check in! My room was right next to the cleaning staff cupboard on the 4th floor, and it was the furthest walk from reception and considering the hotel wasn’t busy I’m not sure why I was stuck away in the corner. There was a big stain on the carpet and the bathroom door was chipped and needed a coat of paint. I ordered an in-service meal of calamari and quite frankly, I would have been embarrassed to serve it. A tiny tiny portion for $30’s, over cooked with no salad. Awful. The pool was also a long walk past offices etc in the building and a bit hard to find. I decided not to use it as I was too bit embarrassed to walk past the cafe and bar and offices in my robe. The hotel location is nice on the water and I booked it as I had a work meeting at the NSW Gallery of Art but not great for public transport. A 15 minute walk up hill to get to St.James station coming from the hotel. I ended up using Ubers.

- Janet (8/5): Great location. Spacious rooms. - Great location to go and see the Opera on Sydney harbour, Botanic gardens and be by the water. Plenty of bars, pubs, restaurants around. Room was lovely and spacious over two levels with view of the water. Comfortable bed. Very quiet at night. All the amenities needed for a stay. Needs a bit of upgrading (eg one lift not working, carpets a bit old, decoration in bar/dining).

- James (8/5): - There wasn't much information about the facilities in the room. What was available and where to find it. The couch was terribly uncomfortable. One side of the bed felt like it had collapsed. Light switches were difficult to understand and locate.

- Wojciech (3/5): Not worth it - Location is ok Very dated feel of the hotel. The standard of the bathroom was really bad- the shower and taps need an upgrade, impossible to get the water temperature right. It wasn’t very clean either- hair in the bathtub. The AC in the room was not working properly, and since it was a short stay could not be bothered to get it repaired or move rooms. The stuff at the bar was pretty unexcited about working there, drinks were simply bad. I would definitely not stay there again, unless they go through total renovation and concept update.

- Rae (10/5): Fabulous and will definitely do it again. - Great location interesting design maintaining the original industrial structure. Loved the pool and all the restaurants running along the wharf directly beside the hotel. Within walking distance to the Art Gallery and perfect for an Art Gallery After dark event. Also we were given a significant upgrade and a lovely cake surprise with our Moët to celebrate our anniversary! Exceptional value for money and great staff. Nothing loved it.

- Monika (9/5): Eir waren rundum zufrieden und kommen gerne wieder! - Ich mag das Design des Hotels, das die alte Nutzung des Gebäudes in das Konzept aufgenommen hat. Das ist sehr atmosphärisch. Msn kann kostenfrei Wäsche waschen und trocknen. Es sind kleinere Reparaturarbeiten erforderlich, denn das Hotel ist rin wenig in die Jahre gekommen. Das ändert aber nichts sm positiven Flair.

- Andy (4/5): Over priced and poor maintenance - Clean and location Unable to turn down the AC fan speed, even the staff couldn’t do it. Constant dripping tap in shower, unable to turn off all night
- Anne (9/5): Fantastic location and friendly staff - Great location with easy access to town. We really enjoyed our stay, the rooms were spacious, beds comfy, food fantastic and the pool area a highlight. Bathroom was dark I couldn’t do my makeup, a second light near the mirror wouldn’t go astray. We also didn’t have any coffee and had to ask for some.
- Coastal274103 (6/5): Reputation is not deserved. - This hotel didn't meet my expectations based on reputation and price. Room has not been refurbished since opening 10 years ago. Noisy air conditioning overdue for service and vacuum, stained badly patched carpet, wonky shower fittings. No concierge. No bar or restaurant or room service after 9.30pm. Inconvenient location for public transport. Spaciousness of room, breakfast buffet, and swimming pool were the highlights, though the cushions in the poolside cabanas were mildewed. There is better value, service and convenience to be had in the CBD.

- Peter (9/5): Quirky, comfortable and superb value for money. - Lovely quiet location but only 20mins walk to the Opera House via the Botanical Gardens. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and there was a relaxed feel about the place. Great selection of food for breakfast to set us up for the day. We had no issues at all with our stay, but if we came back to Sydney we might stay closer to the centre to enjoy the nightlife a bit more.

- Krzysztof (10/5): Fajna miejscówka, chętnie wrócę. - Świetny pomysł na architekturę hotelu, design pokoju, dobre śniadanie z przemiłą obsługą, dostęp do pralni, lokalizacja. Światło w pokoju zaaranżowane z przesadą artystyczną, można bardziej użytecznie.

- Monika (9/5): Wir kommen gerne wieder! - Sehr originelles, außergewöhnliches Hotel im post Industrie Design einer alten Lagerhalle am Hafen. Ausgesprochen freundliches und hilfsbereites Personal. Tee, Wasserkocher und kleine Getränkepackungen Wasser auf dem Zimmer. An der Rezeption Wasser für den Tag. Eine weitere Toilette bei Buchung des deluxe loft. Gutes Frühstück. Die Badezimmer hatten wenig Abstellfläche. Leider war der Mischer, der die Wahl zwischen Handbrause und Rainshower ermöglichte leicht defekt. Der Dichtungsring war gelockert.

- Richard (7/5): Overall good but it looks understaffed and poorly managed. - Location is great- short stroll to lift that takes you to the new museum of art and in to the botanical gardens 1 of the 2 lifts out of order. The second was dysfunctional and I was stuck in it for 15 minutes before reception reset it. There are no useable stairs to use as an alternative to the lift. The room cleaning was a bit hit and miss and often not done until later in the afternoon.
