It’s walking distance to some of the best pizza and gelato places in Italy The “Boxton” was a terrible experience, even for one night. The biggest issue was that the “cozy up” king bed room was so tiny and poorly laid out that there was nowhere to open our two suitcases. When we laid our suitcases out on the floor there was nowhere to walk around them, and it blocked the bathroom door from being able to open. When we asked the hotel staff where they expected us to open our suitcases, she said all the rooms were like this and the only way to get a bigger room would be to pay for an upgrade. I said we shouldn’t have to pay significantly more on top of the already high room rate just to have space to open our suitcases, which any normal hotel room in Rome would have. I asked for some discount on the bill in light of this inconvenience, but they refused. They said they note the square meters of the room in the booking so it is “not false advertising.” Even in a small room, there should be room to open suitcases rather than filling the room with extraneous furniture in an attempt to look hip and modern. It shouldn’t be that hard to figure out. On top of that, I woke up in the morning with a terrible ache in my neck and shoulder. I’ve slept in plenty of hotels in Italy and this has never happened. Also, this hotel does not have a bellman to help with your bags, and the elevator barely works. For a room we paid $500 for, this experience is unacceptable. I can’t understand why this hotel is on so many recommended lists because it’s actually terrible and there are much better hotels in Rome at this price point. (We recommend the Donna Camilla Savelli in Trastevere!) But if you want a “budget hotel” experience at a luxury hotel price point … the Hoxton is the place for you! ;(

- Yuan (9/5): A stylish and cosy stay with great design and comfort - The hotel offers a highly stylish and thoughtfully designed stay, with beautifully curated room décor that I absolutely loved. Especially the retro aesthetic with apple green tones and copper metal accents. The in-room radio was a lovely touch; on arrival it was already playing lively music, which instantly set a great mood for the day. The hotel has a very cosy feel overall, and the downstairs restaurant is extremely convenient, with the option to order food and have it delivered directly to the room. While the room and bathroom are on the smaller side, the space is well designed and comfortable, and the shower has exceptionally strong water pressure. Overall, it’s a very charming and comfortable boutique hotel experience with great atmosphere and convenience. The bathroom occasionally has a slight sewer smell, so if you are sensitive to odors like me, it helps to keep the door closed and use some fragrance. The location is a bit far from most major tourist attractions and the city centre, except for Villa Borghese, which is relatively close. Getting around Rome can also be a bit inconvenient due to the unreliable bus schedule, so it’s best to allow at least 30–40 minutes when travelling to popular sights.

Great breakfast. Service at breakfast can be slow- so go early. Some staff throughout could be a little more friendly and welcoming. Their environmental awareness needs adjusting- no need for new towels daily or linen- and cleaners need to turn the lights off after cleaning- as we had.

The staff was very responsive to emails even before I arrived. I had two separate bookings for a group of people and they were able to combine them and give me rooms that did not require my people to move after the first reservation.

We needed some extra items for the room and it was sorted in an instant. Good breakfast options to set you up for the day. Team were very helpful and we appreciated their support on our requests. Fab place to wind down with some post sightseeing cocktails as well! I personally enjoyed it being in a peaceful part of the city. It is in a much more local feeling area of Rome. So you may need to be prepared to taxi or use the buses to get more into the city if you are time pressured or have mobility needs. You can of course still walk - we did a number of times and enjoyed the local experience - Trevi Fountain for example is a 35ish min stroll. We loved our stay but this might be a point of consideration for others

- rishinsharma (10/5): Great hotel, perfect stay, find Nikola at the bar :-) - I stayed at The Hoxton from 26 March to 31 March, 2026. This was my second trip to Rome, and my second stay at the hotel. I returned to Rome because I was overdue for a proper vacation, had unfinished business in the eternal city, and was also exhausted and thought to return somewhere I had been but where I would also be able to travel to new places. I picked The Hoxton because I remembered two things about it -- first, how peaceful it is, especially compared to the Campus Martius where I had spent the first two nights of my first trip; and second was how friendly and attentive the staff were. I was not disappointed. As others have commented here, if you want to be in the thick of "it," whether "it" is Ancient Rome, or the medieval city, or the Renaissance masters, or the beauty of the Church, then The Hoxton is a bit off the beaten path. But for me, that was the draw. I was a quick bus or tram ride, or Uber, from all the sites I needed to visit (Colosseo, the Forum, etc.). Indeed, my favorite thing to do was to take the metro to Policlinico and then take the tram a few stops to Buenos Aires straight to the hotel when I had some time at the end of the day. Anyway, my point is that for someone like me, who needed to rest and relax in relative luxury (both inside and outside the hotel), this was the perfect place. I was not far from the main sites, but I had the benefit of a beautiful neighborhood, excellent food (the adjoining neighborhoods have the best food in Rome, in my opinion), good public transit, the gorgeous Borghese gardens, two super markets, and so much more. For the hotel, itself, I have nothing but praise. My room was well appointed and comfortable, the amenities everything I wanted (including a U.S.-style electric outlet in the bathroom), and the atmosphere exactly what I wanted as a break from both the hustle and bustle of Rome and the rancor of normal life. The real stars, though, are the outstanding staff -- by that, I mean everyone. The front desk was efficient and helpful, from my arriving rather early, to solving my simple problems, to making sure I had everything I needed; the staff at the front bar were my hang out for breakfast, at whatever time I took my first coffee and pastry, to afternoon wine and cocktails; and the back bar was where I spent many an incredibly pleasant Roman night. It was all just a lovely experience, made possible by the people who never took an eye off of being the best. In particular, I would tell you to find any of the great bar tenders. A special shout out to Nikola, who made several of my nights just divine - recommending great wine, mixing up outstanding cocktails, and one night, even leading me on a tasting menu of delights. It's these little details, and that extra attention, and that human element that make me so loyal. On that last point, I'll pause to say that, in addition to the ample amounts of gin and wine I drank, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. It was easy for me to assume that the hotel would not be able to compare with the Epicurean delights of the surrounding neighborhood, but I was quite (and deliciously) wrong.

- Michele (9/5): Really nice, great location and super comfortable and nicely appointed! - Room and bathroom water pressure excellent. Quite spacious and clean and comfortable. The lounge was nice and inviting for gathering for a drink or snack. The risotto balls are amazing! The breakfast was not good. The eggs were off as were the other menu items. It was bad enough that we declined to return even though it was prepaid.

The wall plugs had come loose and I spent half my time worried that they’d fall out and I’d be charged for it. Staff were okay but not as friendly as the Hoxton in Edinburgh. And the food doesn’t meet up to other Hoxton’s standards, like the one in Hoxton or the Edinburgh hotel

- Jplifejourney (10/5): Hoxton Rome - We absolutely loved our stay at The Hoxton Rome — truly a hidden gem in an enchanting neighborhood of Rome (an area we hadn’t explored before and now adore). We visit Rome at least 1–2 times a year, and this stay made us fall in love with the city even more. The vibe at The Hoxton is relaxed, comfortable elegance — chic and hip without ever feeling pretentious. It strikes that perfect balance of stylish and welcoming. We especially loved our room — beautifully designed and incredibly comfortable. We had very restful sleep in the fabulous bed, which made each morning a pleasure. We were warmly welcomed with a personal note from management along with a lovely local welcome treat — such thoughtful touches that immediately made us feel valued and at home. The hotel team was outstanding. Warm, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the neighborhood, they gave us fantastic local recommendations — including two incredible bakeries/chocolatiers just steps away. There are also so many excellent restaurants nearby. A special highlight is Elio, the hotel’s restaurant — we highly recommend both the food and happy hour. The cacio e pepe and arancini were absolutely delicious. We cannot recommend The Hoxton Rome highly enough and definitely plan to return. After hearing about our experience, a few of our friends have also stayed there — and they thoroughly enjoyed their stay as well. Grazie mille for such a wonderful experience! Rome feels even more special to us now.
