Guest Reviews
- Tim (2/5): We will not go to hotel Monaco - We had a problem with our reservation and the customer service was terrible. They did nothing to try to help us, did not care, and basically said it was "too bad". We will not be re-booking this hotel again.
- Wan-Siong (10/5): - The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
- Ilya (6/5): Just ok - An ok hotel in a very colorful neighborhood. Close o the center and central train station..
- Mahendran (10/5): Excellent stay! - Excellent stay, good friendly staff. Thank you! Area was close to train station. All good!
- JeffW (10/5): - A little old, but very clean, very comfy beds, very friendly staff.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very quaint and cute.
- Robert (6/5): OK for a place to sleep - A small, no frills hotel in a not so great neighborhood (3 "gentlemen's clubs" on the same block). Convenient walking distance to the train station and Oktoberfest grounds. Room was small, bathroom and shower barely large enough for one person.
- Michel (10/5): - My only word to them : Shower-Head and review plumbing. The shower was kinda weak. Also having to wait every time to get the door unlock (Nighttime I can deal with it, but broad daylight...) Otherwise, it was very nice. I would return there next year
- Verified traveler (8/5): Affordable and in a good location - Near to Munich main station with a very friendly staff.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The bilingual staff are knowledgeable, and friendly. The breakfast is delicious.
- Heidi (10/5): This is home away from home - I felt so very welcome and at home - this is a very beautiful non-chain hotel run by a lovely woman, who decorated with love and heart
- Roderick (8/5): Hotel Monaco Munich - Hotel Monaco is a traditional German independent small hotel, that provides accommodation and breakfast. It is very centrally located in a quiet side street close to the main station. There are shops, bars and restaurants very close by. The staff are very friendly and all speak English. The bedroom and bath room are clean, neat and tidy and of a reasonable size for this price bracket.
Would return.
- Melissa (8/5): Cute clean stay - A clean and friendly place tucked above a bustling neighborhood. Decor was very cute, old fashioned. Place was clean and staff extremely friendly and helpful. Neighborhood is a bit raucous at night, but lovely diverse street life in daytime. Many good eateries around. No air conditioning.
- Cheryl (10/5): - Near train station. Neighborhood dicey at night. Good breakfast. Pleasant, helpful staff. Navigating Munich was difficult.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Clean and comfortable! - Hotel was very clean and comfortable! The hosts were amazing and very helpful with the questions we had. Breakfast was very tasty and freshly made. The noise level at night was louder than we are used to since we are not night owls.
- Mary (10/5): - Very cute hotel, with lovely staff. Extremely convenient for train station and major sights are all within walking distance. Very good value. Breakfast and wife excellent.
- Jojo (2/5): Surprise! Surprise! - hotels.com asked how checkin was and I wrote that the Candy Bar is at the address given for hotel Monaco (9 Schillerstrasse), the hotel is not even on Schillerstrasse and that between selecting my room and its confirmation, it was changed to one with shared bath. The hotel responded immediately that I was untruthful about the shared bath, and that the Candy Bar is a "gentleman's bar" and since they can be found all over the world, I had nothing to fear from it, but not why they use a false address.
When reserving a room at Hotel Monaco from Slovenia I saw that the cheapest rooms had only a shared bath and selected the next more expensive room, which didn't list a shared bath. How that became a reservation for one with shared bath is only known to hotels.com and the Monaco but they readily offered a private bath for 15 euros more, as if they knew that's what I wanted. At home I've tried to find a room listed there with shared bath but cannot.
My photos show the block at 9 Schillerstrasse and the Hotel Monaco sign above the Candy Bar, with a woman who many not be a hotel employee leaning in the doorway. If the Candy Bar is not to your liking stroll just 3 doors to the Bad Angel, or the Dolly Bar, right beside the Broadway Bar, beside the KINO Sexshop beside the Beate Uhse Man's Planet. Check these on Google Map.
If you want this, the Hotel Monaco wants you. But to check in you'd better go to Adolph Kolping Strasse, where the hotel entrance is, upstairs.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Grandma's living room in a rough part of town - Not bad as far as hostels go, it is going for quaint and homey, with pictures of flowers and angels and little quotes everywhere, but misses the mark a bit due to location. You get what you pay for I guess. Room was clean, but the mattress was a bit hard and the frame very creaky and the whole building smells like cigarettes overlaid with potpourri. A fair amount of night noise, but on a weeknight not so bad as to prevent sleep. Located close to the tram line and Karlzplatz, on a bit of a rougher side street. They try very hard to make you feel welcome though, so A+ for the staff.
- Avivit (10/5): - The room was prettier than we had expected. It was large abd clean ans we really enjoyed it. The bed was less comfortable in my opinion. There was noise from the street, but when closing the window it was reduced. Still could hear it though. I like the design of the room which was lovely. However there was no fridge in the room, so it was less practical. The service was good. They answered the door quickly and the chck in abd out didnt take much time. We stayed there one night.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - What a wonderful little boutique place. Clean comfortable place. Location to traun station is super easy. Easy walk to city center and the old town sights.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Property is very close to HB and city center. Hotel stuff are extremely helpful and nice to deal with. Room was bright and pleasant with bathroom clean and good size. Breakfast was great and room was given upon arrrival earlier than checkin time. I would definitely return to this hotel.
- Karen (4/5): - Room was great....till nightfall. Super noisy area all night long. Clubs and such that stay open right across the street. My adult son got up for a walk in the am and was propositioned by women while going to get coffee :/ Wish it was in a different location but oh well, live and learn.
- N. (8/5): - Lovely furnished rooms. Just a couple minutes walk to Karlsplatz.
- CARMEN (10/5): Nice affordable place in Munich - The hotel is nice and cosy and very conveniently located near the train station and walking distance to the city centre. The staff were super nice and helpful and breakfast was good. Will be back!
- Dennis (6/5): - Good and people were friendly. However I feel like I got ripped off with a 25 Euro a day charge or having room with bath and it should have been included
- Craig (8/5): Close to Oktoberfest, & München Hauptbahnhof - All in all we were happy with our visit. The staff very helpful & friendly. Surprised that everytime we leav e to go somewhere you have to give them your room key & then go back to desk to get it. The room was clean & comfortable. Furnishings adequate nothing fancy but a comfortable bed. No air conditioning, but not a very big deal as it would get chilly at night. Summer months could be an issue. The neighborhood on the rough side & the restaurant across street never closes and the guys are outside talking loudly all through the night. The windows when closed did help with keeping the voices from keeping us awake. Also accustomed to having a safe to lock up the valuables left behind while out and about. WiFi worked fairly well.
- Katherine (8/5): Good location, well maintained, but rather noisy. - The hotel is on the fifth floor of a building just round the corner from the main station. The room was clean, well maintained, comfortable with some nice personal touches (there was even a teddy in case you get homesick!). Shower was a little on the small side, but nice and hot. The staff couldn't have been nicer, they really seem like they care.
The only downside was that the hotel on a main road and the room is rather noisy into the early hours of the morning due to people shouting in the street. We were there during Oktoberfest, so I don't know whether it's like that all the time or not. The general area is slighty seedy but didn't feel unsafe, and being so close to the station is helpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The reception lady was friendly and gave us some good restaurant tips .
- Gregory (10/5): So cute - Amazingly cute rooms, wonderful breakfast, and a happy and helpful staff.
- JAMES (6/5): Try elsewhere. - Very noisy seedy street, no aircon so windows had to be open. Do not accept credit cards, had to get cash from ATM. Very poor wifi.
- Philip (10/5): A good night's sleep in Munich. - A bright clean, quiet room a short walk from the central station, a very central location, excellent spot for a tired traveller to catch a good night's sleep. Philip
- GayLynn (10/5): - The staff was very warm and friendly. They were extremely helpful. The room was just charming and very clean. The breakfast was DIVINE! Excellent coffee, and a smorgasbord of everything you would want for a Bavarian breakfast! It was very warm this summer, and since there is no AC we had to open the windows and use the fan. The street noise can be quite loud at times, at no fault at all to the hotel. The location was perfect for us, just down the street from the Bahnhof and 15 min walk to Marienplatz. We adored our time in Munich!
- David (10/5): - GREAT staff, very helpful and accommodating.
I saw them treat EVERY client as the most important person there...
They provided directions and tips on where to visit (especially because I had a 7yr old son with me).
The manager is so BEAUTIFUL and a true nice person. Thank you
- Calum (10/5): - Amazing place. Area is a bit seedy. Great value and near everything. Just lots of strip clubs on the same street.
- Mike (10/5): - Friendly, well located hotel with a great breakfast.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Overall was good. WiFi was not perfect and tea or coffee pot was not provided.
- Willard (10/5): - My third stay at this hotel. Always an enjoyable experience.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Red light district, street noise people yelling all night—until dawn. Front desk has earplugs available. Otherwise a very convenient location. Very nice breakfast. This place is small, more like a B&B than a hotel. Adjust your expectations accordingly.
- jetemy (8/5): - Convenient, can be a bit noisy. No ac but desk fan was in the room.
- Kelly (8/5): Gem Hotel Monaco - The hotel itself is really good, with lots of shops and eateries within walking distance. The receptionists are very helpful and so kind.
I had intended to travel by myself and at last minute a friend joined me, I forgot to mention it to the hotel before we arrived. My room was very large with three single beds in it, my friend and I thought that it would be ok that she would stay in my room with me considering there are multiple beds, she had to pay a fee of 50€ (which is slightly expensive considering mine worked out as just over 40€ per night) but she gladly paid since it was cheaper compared to other places around.
As I mentioned above, the room I got had three beds in it and was very spacious with lots of cute decor. It was very clean and welcoming.
The local area is a bit dodgy (particularly at night), but it didn't take away from my experience there.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Service was good. However we were given a room with shared bathroom with 3 other rooms. Hallway and room door are paper thin - and had to wait to use the bathroom many times. Better hope for non-obnoxious next door neighbors.
- R (8/5): Nice, particularly if you like angel styled decor - weekend at a nearby venue, hence the choice. The price was good, the rooms clean and tidy. Angels everywhere (seriously! On the walls, the light fittings, etc). The area is er, "adult" in nature. However the hotel is an oasis in this.
- Victoria (8/5): - Great hotel. Street is kind of scary at night. too many group of men standing in groups and checking you out. But it feels safe. Love the room. Very comfortable. But the air was smoky the first night. Although you can see non smoking signs everywhere, somebody, I guess have not followed the rule. It was cleared next night. Great breakfast.
I will stay there again.
- Joop B. (8/5): Cosy, nice room, not too bit, very nice people - Close to the station and city centre, cosy and nice, not particularly luxurious but absolutely ok. Unique selling point: Extremely nice and friendly people, with serious personal interest in their clients. 10 points!
- Nicky (8/5): Perfect hotel for a specific traveler - Overall very good experience! This is a clean hotel with large-size beautifully decorated rooms that are reasonably priced. The hotel staff is very welcoming and knowledgeable. The breakfast was really good and worth it, as we like to eat, then go back to our room to get ready for the day’s travels. The location is perfect as far as being close (i.e. walking distance) from both the main train station and the downtown sightseeing/shopping areas. The only negative and reason I gave 4 stars versus 5 is that this street does have a lot of men loitering about up and down the block. This hotel’s lobby is on the 5th floor, so you have to come in the unlocked street-level door to take the elevator to the lobby to get your room key. This isn’t the safest setup if you are a female traveling alone, or even 2 young women, coming home at night where you can be followed into the elevator. It also means that you do hear quite a bit of noise from the street throughout the whole evening since most of their rooms face the street (bringing earplugs or using white noise alleviates that issue). Again, overall a really good experience and we would definitely go back to this hotel on future trips!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great location - Enjoyed New Years here. Walking distance to the historical center. Staff super friendly, breakfast delicious and close to famous sites.
- Trystan (10/5): Seriously, totes amaze balls!! - Amazing staff!!!! The hotel is very quaint and feels like a Hotel in a German village. You can almost forget you are in the middle of a big city. We had an issue with our passports being left in Spain and the staff was very helpful in getting them returned to us. We have stayed at this hotel twice and will always stay at this hotel when in Munich. It's not the fanciest hotel we stay in while travel around Europe but it is less than half of all the price of our other favorites and the staff is by far the best!!! There is a little bit a street noise sometimes but it is in downtown so it's expected. Also, we have usually consumed so much food and beer that we could still sleep if there was a concert outside our window. The breakfast is also really great for the price. Thanks for everything!

- ana (6/5): - Hotel very close to train station, which was very nice. Very noisy at night and curtains are very thin which made it hard to sleep with all the light coming in. Also major detail: bathroom was shared by 4 rooms, unpleasant surprise since app didn’t say that.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely hotel - Small and friendly. A lovely Bavarian hotel. Decorated ready for Christmas too. Looked like something out of Hansel and Gretel - really pretty.
- alexander (6/5): Good place - The place is good in general, with friendly staff and a very convenient location - right by Munich's downtown. The only annoying problem was TV blaring so loudly as I was trying to sleep late at night, had to dress up and go out to complain - and someone turned it down then. One slightly inconvenient thing is that the room doesn't have a phone (that's why I had to dress up and go out) nor an alarm clock (just something to keep in mind: you have to rely on your own alarm device for waking up on time).
- Jackie (6/5): Clean room 2 blocks from train station - Location = close to train station, but not a great part of the city. Very nice staff, clean, adequate but small room. $170 euros was a lot to pay for this room, but the hotel was fully booked!
- Wilson (8/5): - The hotel cleaning can be improved if they move the bed and clean the areas covered. Softer kind of towels may also provide additional comfort.
- Katryn (2/5): Hotel close to Munich central train station - The hotel's reception is on the 5th floor and only has a few rooms. Ours faced the street. It was noisy throughout the night. It was warm and we had to keep the window open as there's no airconditioning. It was impossible to sleep with all the street noise. The street area around our hotel felt unsafe. The decor in the room is very outdated.
The breakfast was ok
Not commendable to stay here
- Ron (10/5): great service small intimate hotel convenient - we took the train from munich airport to central station and the hotel was a short 5 minute walk close to off and on bus tours the staff were all fantastic friendly helpful were able to print out from their email excellent staff the breakfast buffet was very good so was the coffee great breakfast choices I will stay there again!
- Verified traveler (6/5): bad treatment - the hotel customer service was so bad
no internet
they didn't do Any thing to fix this problem
even a try
also the room was not include a telephone
thanks for asking me about my opinion
- Ron (10/5): Great location - Comfortable cute rooms in a great location in city center. Oktoberfest & Marienplatz are only a short walk away and the train station just a couple of blocks from hotel.
- Jeff (6/5): Sketchy neighborhood - Owner was really nice and the room was very clean. It is kind of a rough area with lots of strip clubs and shady people. I would recommend if you are on a budget.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Noisy area at night with a nearby casino and strip club
- Verified traveler (6/5): Loved some things, hated some things - I'm really torn on how to rate this hotel. There are things that I absolutely loved, and things that I absolutely hated.
The pluses: spacious rooms and bathrooms, very cute and innovative decor, extremely nice and helpful staff. The rooms were clean, and the location is really convenient, with 2-min walk to the train station, the subway and the city center. The breakfast was the highlight of the stay: large variety of fresh bakery, meat, and cheeses in a wonderfully decorated dining room (and we only paid only an extra EUR 5-10 for two people).
Unfortunately, there are big minuses, too. While the area is central, this specific block is sketchy, with strip clubs, shisha bars (not of a stylish and trendy type), and congregations of troubled-looking youth. We had to keep the windows open because there was no air conditioner in the room, and it was really noisy. A few times a nights I woke up because of screams and sounds of broken glass. As two women travelling alone, I didn't feel very comfortable.
Now about the room itself. Although it was overall comfortable, it really had only the essential things (so, don't count on having things such as refrigerator, phone, air conditioner, toiletries (the hotel only provided a small piece of soap and a shampoo sample), tissue box, pen and scratch paper etc.). Also, the towels were so old and used-up that I seriously considered buying one to use while there.
- Priscila (8/5): Good Hotel near the Munich Central Station - I had a pretty good stay at this hotel. The location (a 5-minute walk from the central station) made it very convenient to travel comfortably my bags. The neighborhood is a little rough, but it's a sacrifice worth making for how central it is to everything. I had a room with a shared bathroom, but at no point did this become an issue. I did not have to wait to use it at any point. The staff were very warm and friendly. Overall, a pretty great experience.
- Scott (10/5): Good Visit. - My experience was good. Location was fine close to city centre and rail station also close bus option to airport. Staff were welcoming, room was clean and more than adequate. I stayed for three nights with no issues at all.
- Suzanne E (10/5): Great hotel! - Basic hotel room but very clean and comfortable. Great location close to train station and a pleasant walk into the centre of the historic area.
Great service and let us check in early. Good value for price.
- Robert (8/5): clean Hotel very near the old section of Munich - Very nice recently priced Hotel period a small breakfast area however the staff was very nice. it rain they had umbrellas to borrow.
- Jessica (6/5): Check if the room has a shared bathroom! - This was a very charming hotel with a very friendly and dedicated staff. Everyone spoke excellent english and knew the city very well. The breakfast was great and genuanly free (sometime it says fre,, but that is not really the case). They tried very hard to make you feel like a guest in their home...right down to the shared bathroom. Literally everything else was great, but the whole shared shower, toilet, sink thing was VERY difficult. We shared with 2 other rooms, which made for a total of 7 people vying for the same bathroom. My husband and I both had stomach problems one night to make it even better...I'll leave the rest to your imagination. And to make it worse, our room (and probable one of the other 3, based on the layout) could hear everything that was going on in the bathroom while we were in bed. Shower, sink, toilet....everything. That also led to awkard situations, considering we were on our honeymoon and figured that everyone could hear US too....didn't make for the most romantic part of our trip.
- karen (10/5): Cute rooms and quiet urban setting. - The area wasn't the best at first sight but the people were so friendly and it was so convenient I'd stay there again. Felt safe and hotel was very well cared for and well run.
- Scott (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay! Hotel Monaco offered a really unique experience. It is very convienently localed to the rail station.
- David (8/5): Central location, friendly staff - Room cleanliness good. Staff friendly. Location close to main station.
- Stuart (6/5): great stopover hotel - Basic accommodation with private facilities. Good effort with décor. Nothing flash but good value for money.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Small hotel but very clean and comfortable. - Hotel was like just renovated, very clean . Staff super helpful.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Horrible location and area - We stayed there for 3 nights, the hotel is located in a neighborhood where alot of strip clubs and bars; alot of shady young men roaming around and smoking and at night it gets very load and we heared several bar fights from our room. The walls are hearthrough even though the windows are closed. We didnt feel comfortable or safe walking around. The elevator doesnt take you up to your room and youll need to carry/walk the stairs. Id recommed finding a hotel away from this neighborhood
- Carlos (6/5): Everything was ok except the shared bathroom - Only downside is that we hadto share the bathroom with three other rooms. The other guests were not tidy.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The hotel was very easy to locate, great location to all public transportation and walking distance to Marienplatz and the shopping streets. Hotel room was clean, well organized and staff were very friendly.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Amazing stay - I stayed for one day in this hotel and it was more than amazing ,
delighted stuff ,friendly
rooms are comfortable ,clean
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Cute bed and breakfast that reminded me of "grandma's place". Lovely staff. Centrally located in city center. Shared bathroom with 2 other rooms. No issues.
- Michael (6/5): - Did not realize that we had a shared bath. Also staff not particularly friendly. Also, hotel not willing to allow us to cancel one night of our stay or negotiate a partial refund.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Charming stay for Oktoberfest - Nothing fancy but very clean, family run operation. Breakfast was very good in a charming dining room. It was very expensive due to it being Oktoberfest.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - very nice hotel with helpful and nice staff. its right by the main train station, which is great. The neighborhood was OK, i felt safe during the day, but didnt want to be walking around at night. The room itself was clean and spacious, the one thing i didnt like about the room is the door didnt have a lock that you could lock from the inside only, just the deadbolt that could be locked/unlocked from the inside or the outside. If they added an inside only lock, i would definitely stay there again.
- rosemarie (8/5): - It was conveniently located to trains, the town and shopping. It reminded me of times square area in ny. The rooms were very clean and the staff was very nice.
- Susan (6/5): Hitel walking distance to Oktoberfest - Stay was fine - walking distance to Oktoberfest. Staff very pleasant.
Shared bathroom.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I loved this hotel. It is on the same street as some night clubs and other "night entertainment", but don't let that stop you from staying. The owner and other employees are super helpful and friendly and they will do whatever they can to make you feel like you are at home.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Gem in the midst of busy, crowded streets - Hotel Monaco is a great little gem on a busy, packed street. The location to the train station and to the city center are great. Easy walking distance to both. The staff/family who run the hotel are very polite and went the extra mile to make sure that we were comfortable. The breakfast was 9 euro extra per person but was really good. The only part that that takes away a star - it is extremely loud outside (the street is full of people, bars, strip clubs, etc.). Since there is not air conditioning (very common in Europe) you must sleep with windows open. I used ear plugs the 2nd night and slept just fine. If you're used to the city sounds (car alarms, people yelling, garbage trucks, etc.), then you'll do just fine at Hotel Monaco. The hotel is on the top floors of an apartment building but there is an elevator if you don't want to carry your luggage up 5 floors of steps.
- okiss (6/5): An OK hotel - The hotel was actually clean and roomy. The staff was very friendly. My only complaint was that we had to share the shower and the toilet with two other rooms. One family was very inconsiderate and occupied the bathroom for a long-long time. That made our stay a little less pleasant than expected.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Good central location - Very friendly staff, budget hotel but not budget service
- Anna (10/5): Loved Our Stay! - Wonderful hotel, good service, and excellent location right by the Hauptbahnhof. Would definitely recommend!
- Terrance (10/5): Great choice of hotel, close to all attractions. - very nice hotel with very accommodating staff. Good place to stay very close to major Munich attractions. Parking is in a ramp one block away. Worked well.
Enjoyed it very much.
- amanda (8/5): Nice hotel but on the corner of noises street - Clean, nice hotel. Helpful staff. Great location but because of the great location it is quite noisy at night which is unavoidable. Very close links to trams and train station so it was easy to get around and to find! Wifi isn't the best but we managed.
- Ceylan (10/5): - Entire hotel was dressed for Chrismas; rooms, beds, pillows, corridors and everything. Very clean and warm rooms, friendly staff. Loved this hotel!
- Nae (8/5): Excellent - Clean, very quaint, spacious, helpful staff, right near train station. In the middle of the red light streets but wasn't at all an issue. Would stay again
- Verified traveler (2/5): Disgusting Hotel - Out of all the hotels we have stayed in Europe, this hotel has to be the most disgusting. Filthy rooms, bottle caps and dirt on the floor, dirty sinks, and had to ask for soap and shampoo. Worst of all, found a dirty toothpick on the nightstand. Told the front desk about the condition of the room, their response was no cleaning person available. Toothpick, dirt and caps on floor, were still there after our second day of stay. Staff was not helpful at all. A dingy light, narrow hallway leads to an elevator because the front desk is on the fifth floor. Did not feel safe coming in at 11:00 in the evening. Would have checked out after first night, if other hotels were available due to Oktoberfest. Hotel did not provide discount or any satisfaction.
- monika (6/5): good location, clean hotel, reasonable price - we have stayed there before, it is an odd looking building, with an old elevator that takes you up 5 floors to the check-in, we find the location convenient when arriving by train, one can walk to the Hofbrau Haus, and other toursit attractions, the rooms are clean, and the breakfast buffet is very good, and all for a reasonable price, ideal for a short stay.
- CockneyBrum (2/5): OUTRAGEOUS Extra Bed Cost - We were charged an extortionate amount to have a third small bed for our child. This was only revealed when we arrived. At no stage did the hotel or this website inform us of the full price. Had it done so, we would have looked elsewhere. I can't list the extra per night amount here and you won't find it anywhere, but it rhymes with naughty!
The location is good, staff friendly but we did not get a single night of good sleep because of the noise from the street outside and the room was very hot.
- Anna (10/5): Bang for your Buck kinda place - I am pleasantly surprised by my stay at the Hotel Monaco. Very close to the Munich HBF - about two blocks down. Greeted the old man around 10PM, after going through a seemingly sketchy neighborhood. The old man meeting us at the 5th floor reception, and he gladly made sure we got to our room. He spoke conversational English and while our room at first didn't have functioning light bulbs he was very much quick to fix it before we got comfortable in our room. The room itself was comfy and homey feeling. I stayed in a place half the size of a double room and found that suffocating. This with its wide open window made it seem like a normal room. Yes the shared bathrooms were different from what I am used to but not uncomfortable. Hopefully, you will have conscious suitemates. Internet was weird. Didn't really rely on it, and just relied on going to the HBF for the Starbucks at Platform 11. If you want the free breakfast, be sure to do what the instructions say about posting on some website. I forgot to do that and got charged for the breakfast. As far as distance to Marienplatz, or the center of the city, it was about a 15 minute walk, or 5 minute ride from HBF to Marienplatz. Take advantage of the free walking tour to get the best out of your time in Munich. Buy the Halal food across the street. OPEN late and great for those late night munchies. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by the accommodations, and I look forward to visiting Munich and this establishment again.
- Mark (6/5): A good stay in Munich - This hotel is literally right down the street from the Munchen Hauptbahnhof train station. I mean literally - we were laughed at by a cab driver when we got off a train and told him the address of where we needed to go. Ended up tipping more than the cost of the ride.
It feels like a family-run business, we saw the nice woman who greeted us ironing clothes in the back when we came to the desk during our first day. The staff at the desk is there 24 hours of the day and everybody we interacted with was friendly and helpful.
Our room shared a bathroom with two other rooms which was highly inconvenient and kind of uncomfortable but we knew it was what we were signing up for when booking the hotel.
Breakfast offered by the hotel was pretty good.
As we read in other reviews it is in what seems to be the heart of the red light district in Munich which was more amusing than anything else - never proved to be an annoyance.
- karl0sfandang0 (8/5): What a hidden gem.. Will definitely return... - The hotel is in an extremely convenient location, less than 5 mins walk from the Hauptbahnhof (Central Station). The area at first appears a bit down-market, with casinos and table-dancing bars... but actually it's not at all bad. It's not the least bit threatening, and there's everything you need on the doorstep... Chemist, ATMs, variety of food... You enter the Hotel through an unassuming door in a side street, and take the elevator to the 5th floor reception, but once you step out you are in another world. Everything is beautifully cared for, and the decor, though it might seem a bit "twee" to some, is fresh, homely, and well kept. It's lovely and clean, and the room we had (No. 604) was very spacious and comfortable. The staff are faultlessly friendly and the breakfast was superb. Overall a great atmosphere and a lovely oasis of comfort right in the middle of the city. We would not hesitate to stay there again.
- Tomo (8/5): feminin...good for family and couple - Charmig . Close to central station. Staff were friendly....It was really nice and comfortable.
- Verified traveler (6/5): close to public transport - met my expectations
- Lisa (10/5): Very convenient to Munich Hauptbahnhoff. - We had a lovely 3 night stay at this small hotel only a couple of blocks from the main train station. The decor is cute, with heart-shaped pillows, doilies and cherubs. Very clean and perfect for the needs of a college student and her mother. Not in the greatest neighborhood, but we didn't feel at risk walking in the area. Quite a bit of street noise, so come prepared with earplugs if you are a light sleeper. Very friendly people at desk who answered questions and even held one of our suitcases while we traveled to other cities (we were starting and ending our trip in Munich).
- Verified traveler (10/5): Review - This was extremely friendly, clean and very well run hotel, close to the railway station and not far from city centre. This was also the best value for money breakfast we had on our trip through Europe.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel in city environment - Christina's personal attention and the general happy atmosphere, the lean well kept room and the outstanding breakfasts, were the high points of this hotel! We chose it for location near the hautbahnhof, but paid the price of noise streets. All else was great!!
- Cheryl (10/5): A pleasant interlude in Munich - We had a wonderful time staying in this hotel. The staff were very helpful and the buffet breakfast was the best value for money we have found anywhere.
The location was ideal for us as it was very close to the railway station. It was handy to everything and we walked all over Munich without having to take public transport.
