- 850aliaha (2/5): Disappointing Experience at the Cigar Lounge - Disappointing Experience at the Cigar Lounge I’m writing following a disappointing experience earlier today at The Lanesborough cigar lounge. My friends and I (a group of four) arrived just before 9pm, intending to enjoy dinner and drinks. We were informed that, as a party of four arriving after 9pm, at least two guests were required to order cigars in order to be seated. What was particularly frustrating is that: • The lounge was nearly empty (only one other table occupied) • We were fully intending to spend on food and drinks • We had visited just days prior and were not made aware of this policy As long-standing guests of the hotel, this felt both inflexible and unnecessarily dismissive. It’s difficult to understand why a team would turn away willing customers — especially when the venue was clearly not at capacity — rather than prioritising hospitality and guest experience. Luxury hospitality is not just about policy, but about judgement, discretion, and understanding the value of your clientele. On this occasion, it felt like the opposite. I hope this feedback is taken constructively, as it genuinely impacted our perception of what has always been one of London’s most respected hotels.

- Alexandar (10/5): Amazing stay at The Lanesborough - The hotel was amazing, with interiors that were both aristocratic and beautiful. I was given a complimentary upgrade to a fantastic suite. All the staff were very friendly and professional. I was traveling with my child, and she absolutely loved meeting Lilibet the cat. The hotel also offers a variety of activities for kids, which were engaging and enjoyable. The spa is also of a very high standard. Overall the food wasn't amazing. They need to improve the kitchen.

I just wrapped up a 4 day visit and every encounter with every staff member was a master class in what spectacular service looks like. A big shoutout to three exceptional staff members who were my favorites, Daniel the concierge, Abbras the room’s butler and Kieran, the doorman, who greeted me by name at the front door upon every arrival. One thing that stood out for me was the longevity of the staff’s tenure with the hotel. The food was great, as was the room but it was the employees that made the difference for me.

Also the lady who was our butler who I sadly forgot her wonderful name but she was so lovely too! They were super friendly and nothing was too much for them! Raphaelia and the team are all so welcoming and hospitable, with excellent tea and drink recommendations. The afternoon tea is amazing, catering for all dietary needs and requirements. Beautifully themed to Bridgerton and reflective perfectly in the food and the atmosphere. We have been 5 times now and enjoyed every visit, we shall return again.

The staff went above and beyond to make me feel at home. The property itself is so beautiful and cozy, it truly feels special. The amenities the hotel offers were amazing, the location being next to Hyde Park was so convenient. I can’t recommend this place enough and I will be staying here for all of my future visits to London!
- C9466GUharrys (10/5): Peace and Quiet in the Heart of London - There is simply nothing like stepping out of the hustle and bustle of Hyde Park Corner, into the Lanesborough and into the silence of the Library Bar. With staff who remember your name, treats such as complimentary bottles of champagne, cake and buiscuits and suites that have genuine drawing room areas to relax, this is a place that you can call a home from home, while you await your butler to return with your shirt / dress pressed and ready for dinner. The Lanesborough is the most quintessentially British hotel experience and something everyone should try, even if it is just for a night, but if you can return and stay for multiple nights, it really does become a home away from home.

Great spa, great service everywhere as always although dinner at the Grill was somewhat underwhelming. Also breakfast was a bit hit and miss with slightly slow service and forgotten items but no reel problem. Lovely, safe choice for a luxury stay at one of the best locations. Special thanks to the personal concierges, the lady from Hong Kong and the wonderful Shane. Starting as a luxury travel advisor this one will definitely be on my list.

I arrived late in the evening and was greeted quickly and escorted to my room by a butler who described the features of the room and helped me settle in. I received an upgraded room through the Amex scheme with a desk area and larger bathroom. I also received free breakfast through the program which was delicious. The hotel is beautifully decorated in classic English decor, highlighted by the Christmas decorations during my visit. The best feature of the hotel though is the staff. I felt very comfortable and welcomed. I was greeted by name in every part of the property. Each staff member from the doormen, reception, concierge, housekeeping, restaurant, lounge and spa was superior! I have stayed in several luxury properties in London, but the Lanesborough really is just a step above for quintessential English hospitality! I hope to return soon!

- mlI1037AU (6/5): If you are into privacy forget The Lanesborough - Dear (Lanesborough guest); Jeffrey Gelblum, We do not know each other - but we have The Lanesborough, London in common, as we both stayed there at the end of November 2025. How do I know this? Because during my stay, all your private details were shared with me. In fact, when checking out, I was presented - in writing by reception - with your full spend and approved it, assuming it was mine. Privacy, along with comfort, is my ultimate priority when travelling. It appears The Lanesborough, London may hold a different view. Ironically, Dr. Alfred Oetker and Ferdinand Oetker, the owners of the Oetker Collection, should know better. Dr. Oetker is known as one of the most private individuals in Germany - yet this sensitivity does not seem to extend to the privacy of guests. Aside from this rather serious glitch, The Lanesborough, London proved to be a mixed bag. There were no door- or bellmen upon arrival. The Christmas decorations in the public areas were stunning. The butler concept - once a defining feature since its introduction in 1990 - was nearly absent. The only interaction occurred during the first five minutes of arrival and bore little resemblance to the original idea introduced by the hotel. Sadly so. The bar, however, is outstanding. Exceptional staff, a warm and cozy interior, and a piano player who truly elevates the experience. The restaurant is almost the opposite. We dined there on a Sunday, and it felt like a night shift operation. The waiting staff showed limited experience, and the food quality was mediocre. Our room was generous in size, though the bed was anything bot generous. After requesting a change, the front desk team responded immediately and the new room was a clear improvement. All things considered, I will not return. Which is unfortunate, as I genuinely hoped The Lanesborough, London would become a hotel of choice.

- purseglove (8/5): Lovely Hotel but overpriced in our opinion and staff need to relax more with their approach towards guests. - Lovely Hotel which has a high standard of cleanliness. Personally we felt the price of the food in the restaurant was overpriced for what you got. We also felt very interrogated by the bar staff as we walked in their. A flurry of questions fired at as before we could sit down. We felt overwhelmed by the staff. We were upgraded on arrival though we were stood around for 10 minutes waiting to be checked in before anyone took any notice of us. Staff were kind when we asked for our luggage to be stored when we were leaving as we wanted to go out for the day.

The service, with the exception of one breakfast, was great - refined, friendly, and attentive without being overbearing. The rooms use technology to make your visit comfortable. Loved the bidet, radiant floor heating, and Lanesborough products. I wish they sold their lotions, soaps and powders to bring home your experience. Dinner in the Grill, negroni bar, the Withdrawing Rooom and the Bar were all amazing experiences. Drinks were delicious. And an afternoon tea is not to be missed. We will be back. Loved visiting Lilibet as well.

As someone who has stayed in other Oetker properties I knew the standard would be high but I did not expect to be blown away the way I was simply because it was in London. The only times I’ve ever had faultless 10/10 experiences have been in Qatar or the UAE. Because there they go all out to make not only you, but your children feel special. I did not expect to receive this type of service here, in the heart of London. It began from the moment we arrived. They brought out a vip pass for my kid which enabled him unlimited ice cream. (Although he never got any because he was being a little bugger). Next time I will allow him some. Anyway. When we did check in I went for a chat and tour with one of the hotel sales directors. I left the Mrs and son (3 years old) in the lounge. When I returned I was told they gave the Mrs champagne and my boy an orange juice. Then they also brought out a special mocktail for my boy which he loved. When we got to the room there were lots of treats and lovely welcome amenities for us all. We went to the spa and when we returned they had a special alien cake for my boy. He’s obsessed with aliens and had a bag and toy with him on the day. They paid attention. We had room service which was okay. Breakfast was great though and pastries especially. I can’t fault anything. Lovely big room. And service even better. A very special place and a must see if you are used to 6* service. This is way beyond a 5* and really does amplify what the Oetker brand is about.

- Bigal1953 (8/5): Classic British hotel. Very expensive - This is a classic British old school hotel and they charge accordingly. We received an upgraded room from our Amex membership. The room and bathroom were spacious but we looked out on the back of an office building. No matter. The bed was perfect. And there was a butler… Not having been raised with one we were not exactly sure what to do with them. They brought us tea twice, kept the fruit bowl stocked and fixed a leaking refrigerator. The big question was whether to tip them and how much. Ultimately decided not to tip as we didn’t use them much and the room was $1200 a night. Good thing. Upon check out found we were assessed about GBP60 per day. Not sure if that was for tea or a service charge. We were never told about that upon check in. Other than that they have a wonderful health club with sauna steam and hot tub. The French barman made a perfect martini but ridiculously expensive. Breakfast was only OK. It was included. Only a la carte. No buffet. Coffee was terrible. Great location. Walkable to a lot of things. We’d go back

Large,elegant room,everything was working and cleabn.We were upgraded,which is always a plus. Very aristocratic and opulent environment,amazing location excactly between Mayfair and Knightsbridge. Very nice Cigar lounge on the lower ground floor. Although breakfast was offered inside a very beautiful room,the strickt a la carte system without any kind of buffet,always makes it look “poor” and limited.A combination of a la carte and some buffet always works better for the customer. We had a major disturbance during our stay,which in effect ruined everything else.We were “hearing” the room next to us,which means we could hear the neighbors TV and them talking,till 02:00 in the morning.The noise was coming through the air duct right over our bed.We could not sleep till 02:00 in the morning when the neighbors went to sleep.The problem was that they did not shout or anything! It was normal talking and room noise,but when you hear the next room at this level of noise in your room….that is a problem! When you pay 1.000£ + per night,you expect privacy and to be able to rest and sleep.Everything else comes after that. This was really unacceptable and this experience will deter us from ever booking again in this very nice hotel,out of fear that this may happen again.

- andreama (10/5): The magnificent Lanesborough - We recently returned from the Lanesborough from an 8 night stay. The best hotels in the world have a certain intangible quality you can't quite put your finger on but leave you with the feeling you never want to leave. That's the Lanesborough. I looked at many hotels before deciding on the Lanesborough for our first trip to London. The main reasons I picked this property was because of the amazing reviews and also Lillibet, their resident cat (cat tax paid with Lillibet pic with review). I spoke with their concierges many times with questions prior to our stay. All the concierges were very helpful (shoutout to Lee, Daniel, and Pal!) with restaurant and tour suggestions. My husband was quite ill during our stay. We had to call a physician for assistance. Pal (the concierge) was instrumental in calling for help. They also moved us to a suite the next day for no charge to give us some extra room. The one weakness is their breakfast in the Grill. The food is average compared to everything else in the hotel. They need to offer more menu options and it would be nice to have a different menu on the weekend. The other thing about amazing hotels - I always get the feeling the staff wants to be there as much as you do. That was the case with every person we interacted with at the Lanesborough. All of them such nice people. We will return!

The staff were exceptionally kind, attentive, and professional. Our names were known everywhere, which made us feel genuinely welcome from start to finish. What makes this hotel unique is that everything is arranged down to the finest detail. Moreover, The Lanesborough is a very discreet hotel, where you can fully enjoy peace and quiet, far away from the typical tourist atmosphere. The service was consistently excellent from check-in to check-out: the comfort of the room, the thoughtful touches during our stay, and the personal approach all radiate luxury, class, and refinement. In short, The Lanesborough combines British elegance with warm, personal, and discreet service. We will most certainly return and will choose this hotel again for our next stay.

My mom and I stayed for a few nights and we were just so sad to leave. The room was gorgeous. Our spa treatments were so divine. Lunch downstairs was delicious. Room service was perfect. The entire staff (including Lillibeth the hotel cat) were spectacular. Really everyone was wonderful. A few special shout out to: -Carmen the spa butler. She was caring and informative. Such a sweet person. -Daniel at concierge. He recommended a lovely Italian restaurant for dinner. He made us a reservation and helped us arrange a cab to the airport. -Zoltan was so wonderful. Very grateful for all he did. Helped with our bags. Walked us out when we left. Introduced us to Lillibeth. He was so lovely. -Nikolett the butler we interacted with the most. She was the best. Went above and beyond. She was super helpful, a delight, so caring and nurturing. I was so happy to have had here. -Monty another wonderful butler who was so delightful and caring the few times we saw him. Thank you to everyone! We will be back, it might be impossible to enjoy any other hotel after this experience.

I’ve stayed here several times, first more than twenty years ago, but more recently a few times in the last several years. Every time they recognize me by name when I walk in. They know my tastes and do everything they can to meet my standards. Lanesborough is very classic and traditional British, so if you are looking for edgy fashion, it’s not the place, but I can say definitively it is perhaps the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in London.

It was such a lovely time with delicious sandwiches, scones and sweet treats all themed. The tea was fresh, hot, sweet and spicy. They offered a gluten free menu which was presented beautifully. The service was spot on and the hotel is dreamy. The best time definitely recommend this place for an elegant yet relaxed tea in London.
- lorreinek (10/5): A wonderful experience and we can’t wait to return. - I decided that we had reached the age whereby we stopped buying birthday gifts and instead had a treat. I arranged for us to have lunch here. We had a lovely walk along Green Park into an oasis of calm and taste. From the doormen to the cloakroom attendant, everyone was attentive and helpful. The Lanesborough Grill was very relaxed although the decor was on the formal side. All very tasteful. We arrived early and were able to enjoy a glass of Champagne. We chose the fixed menu, which is definitely in the short side, but both of us were happy to choose something from each course. The food, the wine - so tasty and beautifully presented. We worried that the portions may be so tiny that we would be grabbing something to eat on the way home, but there was no chance of that. We were completely satiated (I am lying down as I write!). We had the cheddar soufflé, the Glazed Beef Short Rib, and we each chose a different desert. We were offered side dishes - I chose the hash browns, and my husband chose the Cornish new potatoes. They provided fresh bread too. So tasty. We only really needed one side dish. We had a lovely experience and at the end they presented Dave with a tiny birthday gift. This is an an experience, and it is expensive without a doubt - at least to us (could be many, many hundreds of pounds depending upon the wine you chose), but it’s easy to spend a few hundred pounds on birthday presents without thinking that are soon forgotten. We won’t forget today in a hurry. This isn’t a restaurant we would visit regularly, but for us, as a treat, it was just wonderful. We will definitely return. One happy couple, and had a wonderful experience. Perfect in every way!
- thediscerningguest (2/5): Disappointing Lack of Service from Lanesborough Concierge - I recently contacted The Lanesborough’s concierge with what I thought was a fairly simple request for assistance some help with making a couple or restaurant bookings. Not even recommendations. To my surprise, I was met with a flat refusal, with the explanation that their “expertise is limited…” and that they couldn’t assist with anything outside of that. No effort was made to go the extra mile — no offer to reach out to a sister property to help, no attempt to recommend someone who could help in their network, not even a phone call or email to the venues to try and assist. Just a quick dismissal. At a hotel of this calibre, you expect a “nothing is too much trouble” attitude, especially when part of a luxury collection known for its service standards. What I experienced instead was a clear unwillingness to try. It left me genuinely disappointed. Five-star hotels and clubs should pride themselves on proactive, solution-oriented service. Sadly, that wasn’t the case here.

I came because it still feels like a hotel made for people who listen to silence. It’s the kind of place where time doesn’t just move slowly, it holds still. The kind of place that doesn’t need to impress you with tech or trends. Because it already knows who it is. And it knows you, too, if you belong. From the moment you step in, it feels like entering a private world. Not cold. Not distant. Just carefully measured. The lobby carries a hush that doesn’t need to be enforced. It just exists. Naturally. Our room was a private kind of reverence. Heavy curtains. Dim lamps. A writing desk that felt more like an invitation than a piece of furniture. I didn’t unpack quickly. Somehow, even my clothes felt the need to behave. But not everyone came for the same reason. There were those, philistines with money, who walked the halls like they were owed something. Loud. Distracted. Under-dressed. Wearing shorts and oversized t-shirts like they’re poolside in Ibiza., blasting their phones on speaker, treating staff as if the staff weren’t human. One gave the cleaning lady a look like she was interrupting his life. But how could they know better? You have to be taught how to respect a place like this. How to lower your voice. How to nod to the doorman like he’s the one who owns the building. And they weren’t taught. Born rich, maybe. But never raised. Still, the hotel held its dignity. Even while they trampled through it. I spent most of my nights in The Library Bar. Not drinking fast. Just drinking until the room felt even softer than before. Not talking much. Just writing. Reading. Letting the hours pass like they used to in another time. The light in that room doesn’t feel like electricity. It feels like memory. Even the chairs felt like they’d been designed for conversation, not for posing. I walked the corridors at 2AM. Not to go anywhere. Just to walk. Just to feel. That thick hush of carpet underfoot. That softness in the air. That strange comfort of knowing you’re in a place that was built for stillness. I stopped outside my door and stayed there for a while. The wallpaper. The sconces. The silence. It all made me feel small in the best possible way. I didn’t take photos. Didn’t check my phone. Didn’t tag the bar or the room. Because some things aren’t for show. They’re for being there. And The Lanesborough, like a few other rare hotels in the world, gives you that gift: to step out of the present and sit quietly in the company of something older, slower, and more human.

It was reassuring to be able to leave my car in the garage. We arrived late after a long drive from Yorkshire, were greeted warmly by all staff who were courteous, friendly and helpful through our stay. We had a spectacular dinner with friends in the grill, enjoyed late drinks in the bar and also ate in the withdrawing room (this wasn’t quite up to the high standards of the rest of the hotel)…. Our suite was extremely comfortable and had everything we needed. Breakfasts v high quality too. Excellent gym and spa. My wife has coeliac disease and there were no problems accommodating her dietary needs. Thank you for an enjoyable stay.

- Navigator63873192557 (2/5): Hostile Treatment and Dismissive Management Response – Deeply Disappointed - My family has been loyal guests of The Lanesborough for years, which makes this experience all the more disappointing. While waiting for a guest in a public area of the hotel, I was abruptly approached by staff and security, accused of loitering, and eventually escorted out — despite explaining I had a meeting and even showing proof. The tone was accusatory and hostile, leaving me feeling embarrassed and profiled in full view of other guests. What’s worse, when I raised this with management through a formal letter, their response was dismissive and failed to acknowledge the seriousness of the incident. Instead of addressing the core issue — the degrading treatment I received — they focused on irrelevant details and ignored the broader implications. This is not the level of service or courtesy one expects from a five-star hotel.

Every member of the staff is focused on making your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. They seem genuinely excited to have you there! The accommodations are immaculate, all the food and drink options are delicious - we tried all of them. The concierge staff are brilliant in their ability to assist in any question or issue. Finally the butler service is such a beautiful touch - we spent 10 days there and wish we never had to leave. We will only stay here when visiting London!

Harry's Dolce Vita in Knightsbridge refused to serve us because 2 of our party have coeliac disease. Despite having gluten free options on their menu. She was in tears, and her boyfriend called The Lanesborough asking if they could please help us. They arranged a table, accommodated the gluten free meals thst were needed, provided amazing, friendly service, a birthday cake, card, roses etc. Nothing was too much. Her birthday was saved, and we had a wonderful evening. Mostly I appreciate the kindness that was shown to us. Thank you staff at The Lanesborough, you are wonderful.

Like stepping back to a time long since forgotten since we have all been pushed into this tech world we are now forced to reside in! Customer service at the very highest level, beautiful rooms, a lovely bar and a spectacular restaurant! With only 93 rooms, the customer is their total focus!. Politeness and friendliness abound and a location central to almost everything London has to offer. Spotlessly clean with all the 'niceties' you would expect from this level of hotel are all supplied, most within the room rate. We were both blown away with this spectacular hotel and cannot wait to revisit! thank you to all the team at The Lanesborough.
