Guest Reviews
- Maria (10/5): - The Hotel was very convenient and close to every thing we wanted to see. The hotel staff were helpful and accommodating. We enjoyed our time there.
- michelekV8043CC (10/5): fantastic stay - This hotel is in a fantastic position We arrived at the metro and it was literally across the road. All the staff were very friendly. Our room was on the second floor overlooking the street but it was unbelievable quiet when the windows and shutters were closed. The room was clean and comfy and breakfast covered something for everyone. It felt very safe in the area and we walked everywhere - trevi fountain, spanish steps, colosseum and even vatican city only took about 30 minutes. The only downside was that the coffee, tea and milk werent replaced when the room was cleaned so we had to keep asking for more
- Manuel (6/5): - The only good thing about this hotel is the location. The rooms are so small. I reserved what I thought was a spacious room and it was just the smallest one and my view was a wall, really bad for a VIP status.
- Michele (10/5): - The staff were really friendly The area felt safe and quiet and was very centrally located to walk to all the major sites
- Michael (10/5): - Property was a pleasant surprise. Staff was excellent and rooms were very nice. Would not hesitate to stay here again
- Norma (10/5): - I absolutely recommend this property excellent location ! Super plus walk distance to attractions
- erickcR1961GJ (10/5): A nice hotel in a centric place - A nice hotel in a centric place...near Spanish steps, Via del Corso, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon....and not that far from the Colliseum...Metro station is one block away, and a lot of bus lines pass near it...
- Erick (10/5): - A nice hotel in a very centric area
- Teresa (10/5): - The hotel is old but cute. The breakfast is good and the staff was very helpful. The room was a little small but it had what we needed. It is walking distance to many tourist attractions and there are lots of restaurants and stores to shop.
- X2689IVcarlosv (8/5): Happy stay in Rome - The room was clean and quiet as we had wished for our stay. Breakfast was good and had a lot of choices.
The location of the hotel is excellent, in a very nice area of Rome, and it is highly recommended in particular for a short stay in this beautiful city.
- Tom (8/5): - The hotel has a perfect location and the staff is wonderful. This is a small boutique property that’s family owned and operated. Although it’s very clean it could benefit from more attention to detail in things like floor polishing and overall care of the public areas. My room was beautiful with a small balcony overlooking Via Veneto I really feel like a little more care to the shine of the beautiful marble and iron railings as well as the vintage woodwork. Overall very satisfied with this hotel and even the breakfast was wonderful every day!
- V7406TQdavidb (4/5): Kept promising a luxury experience and did NOT deliver at all. Really disappointing. - We were really let down by our experience with Hotel Alexandra. Our consistent experience was that they promised a lot but the delivery was very disappointing.
1. We requested a car to pick us up at the rail station. Their ad showed a really nice luxury limo. I didn't expect to actually get that, but the smoke-filled mini-van that we got was way on the other end of the scale. The driver didn't come inside to meet us so we kept calling the hotel to try and understand where he was parked. Turned out he wasn't parked. He kept circling. It was just a really disappointing experience for what was a pretty hefty fee. A taxi would have been much cheaper and much easier.
2. When we arrived, they were confused we weren't a group of four. Not sure how they determined this as we specifically had e-mailed with them and told them there were two of us. This confusion led to:
3. We had booked a nice suite, but got a room that was devoid of furniture except for three beds (for four people, it seems) and a few uncomfortable table chairs. There was a lot of room, but it was not a nice place to stay. It looked like an attic that they'd had someone's nephew try and convert into a room. It did have a very spacious balcony, but the view was just of rooftops (we had some wonderful city views at other hotels in Naples and Venice).
4. Worst of all, the hotel room clearly had some water damage from the bathroom (see attached pictures). This led to a musty odor that really bothered us. We asked about moving to a smaller room and were told they had nothing. My wife tried asking again on our second day and was told they didn't understand the request the first time. They still said they had nothing to move us to.
5. When we mentioned the problems at check out, the desk clerk got very defensive and said it wasn't her fault and that she tried to tell others, but no one would listen to her.
All in all, we paid a lot of money for a luxury experience and received a very disappointing experience in every direction. Would not recommend staying here. While the location is excellent and the lobby is very nice, nothing else ended up being a good experience. Please look elsewhere for a quality hotel stay in Rome.
- 675adriand (8/5): Grand old lady of Roman hotels - This is a grand old hotel in a smart part of Rome. I thought the staff very pleasant and helpful and enjoyed my stay. Showers can take a little while to run hot, but after a few minutes they come good! All in all, an enjoyable stay.
- Leonel (10/5): - Very good customer service provided by all staff members. Very helpful and friendly.
- Ana (6/5): - Perfect location in the beautiful Via Veneto, a safe area. Near to different attractions, shopping, transportation, and restaurants. But the hotel needs some love. The bathtub curtain is a joke; I am pretty sure they can install a regular one without spending much money; the carpets look dirty.
The hotel is beautiful, as is the furniture, but the closets are smelly. They need a renovation, painting the walls would be amazing. As I said, the hotel is beautiful. It just needs some love, and for the price, they should do it.
- Toni (10/5): Great Place...Great Location - The service was great. Breakfast was great. The beds could use some updating for comfort, but overall very happy we chose this place.
- Gary (8/5): - Excellent location in this Rome neighborhood.
- Richard (6/5): - Only thing I did not like was “Stairs” with my luggage!
- Inna (10/5): - Great hotel. We will be recommend to all our friends.
- Jim (10/5): - The staff was so nice and helpful.
Room was nice and clean
Breakfast was all so nice with a nice Variety.
- Darlees77 (10/5): Lovely Stay! - We recently returned from our stay at this lovely hotel in Rome and couldnt fault it. The staff were all really friendly, helpful in recommending good restaurants, were always smiling and greating us with a warm welcome. We didnt have breakfast so I cant comment on that. We had a room on the 5th floor over looking the street which was lovely, the room was a really good size, bathroom was huge, shower was powerful and always hot, room was really clean. Cleaners came in everyday. The location of this hotel is also a huge bonus and I would definitely recommend staying here! We really enjoyed our stay and hope to return. Thank you so much to all at the Hotel Alexandra.
- Elaine (8/5): Lift problems - We were pleased with the hotel but our stay was marred at the beginning by the lift being out of order. It took 5 days to get it repaired. We were not charged for breakfast as a result, and were offered a room on the the 3rd floor. But we had booked a room on the 5th floor in order to have a terrace so decided to stay put. The 5 flights of steps we had to walk up were the equivalent of 8 UK flights. Fortunately there was a porter to carry our bags, but it did mean we used our room less than we would otherwise have done.
- Dwight (10/5): Roman Holiday - Updated rooms and bathrooms. Great location. Staff was over the top. Helped with some tours we had booked online and were having trouble getting our tickets by email. They called the company for us and got the issue resolved. Has them email the vouchers to the hotel, then printed for us. Also have good directions.
- Athena (10/5): - I would definitely stay here again. It’s a simple hotel with everything you need. Quiet and safe. It’s clean. Everything is walking distance. Great location.
- Karen (6/5): - While the staff's service was great, it was upsetting that the elevator was down our entire stay and that we were on the top floor. Of course, this made us feel obligated to tip the staff to assist with our heavy luggage. If the elevator were not down, we would have been able to manage our own luggage.
In addition, while it seemed they had gone to our room to clean up, it looked like they reused the towels we had used. This made it feel slightly unsanitary.
- Atif (8/5): - Giada had great customer service, accomodating and helpful
- Cameron (2/5): Broke elevator, no resolution - Elevator was broken before arrival. Was not informed of this. We weren’t offered a refund or other accommodations, in fact we were “upgraded” to the second highest floor. This was for 4 days and three nights without a working elevator. Paying almost 400 euros per night to walk up and down 4 flights of steep stairs is a little ridiculous.
- Kinjel (10/5): - Great location.
- Krysta (10/5): - We absolutely loved our visit to hotel Alexandra. There are so many options to eat and walk around. We would love to stay there again
- AJB1968 (8/5): Ryder Cup - Hotel was nice and clean and staff was very friendly and helpful. Only issue we had was we asked for a couple of extra pillows and they didn’t have them… kind weird that a hotel doesn’t have a few extra pillows… So overall they get an 8 out of 10.
- Brianna (8/5): - Great place to stay. Clean, convenient and friendly helpful staff
- Connie (10/5): - This hotel has charm history and was super special for our stay! The Amenities and the breakfast was also perfect. The staff extremely attentive! Thank you
- Laureano (8/5): - It is very well located with great access, nice restaurants, but a bit expensive. Off course it eas Ryder Cup week and Rome was packed. We experienced surge pricing!!!!
- sanvandur (8/5): Good in the right ways - Very friendly and professional staff, always willing and able to help out with anything. Prime location, while also being on one of the quieter streets. The bathroom was a little small, but has all the essentials.
- Laura (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay very much. Breakfast was included and the staff was very attentive and accommodating. Our room was clean and the hotel is well situated close to shopping and all sights.
- Quest405301 (6/5): You are at risk of getting an old room - For the first night we got a room that wasn't nearly as nice as on pictures when we were booking. In fact the furniture was very old, and there was an animal smell in the room. The tiles in bath were cracked everywhere. It was like it hasn't been remodeled for many decades. Definitely not something you expect from $300+ per night room, even though it's conviniently located. After we complained they hesitantly moved us to a remodeled room, which was okay. The stuff at the reception could have been more pleasent too.
- 262kirstyu (8/5): Weekend in Rome - We stayed here for 3 nights in September and it was a lovely hotel. The staff were friendly and helped us with our luggage and any questions we had. There are quite a few steps to the entrance of the hotel that you need to go up to get to the reception area. There was 1 lift and stairs to the floors. The room was lovely and clean, basic but had everything we needed for our stay. The location was fantastic just a 10 minute walk to the Trevi fountain and about 10 minute walk in the other direction to the Spanish steps. Overall we had a great stay and would happily stay again!
- Guide444156 (8/5): Oldie but goody! - Very nice hotel. Old, but will be renovated soon. Employees were WONDERFUL! Location was ideal. Great for getting around. Will be a classy hotel, once redone. Bed was comfortable and AC worked very well.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The hotel was in a perfect location, very close to the metro and walkable to everywhere we wanted to go. The hotel was very clean and the staff was great. We also had a small balcony that we enjoyed! The only minor complaint is the water pressure of the shower.
- Elisa (6/5): - simple hotel. very good location
- Santina (6/5): - Too expensive for this 3 star hotel. The person checking us in was not happy or pleasant. We went to rage front to tell them that there was water on the floor in the washroom and after sending someone to check it they told us it was probably the cleaners that didn’t clean it properly. The water sat there until I cleaned it up myself. The breakfast was horrible. I hate giving bad reviews and that is why I didn’t give it less stars but I would not go back.
- Fabian (10/5): - Very nice hotel in a walkable distance of pretty much anywhere in Rome which is just what you need metro is very easy to get to from the hotel and also very convenient as its just down the road very clean and comfortable room services available whenever staff are very friendly, air con is great just a little tip air con won’t work if your window is open we found this out by day 2 the window is linked with the air con why don’t other hotels have this I would definitely recommend and stay here again.
- David (10/5): - Absolutely lovely hotel with really friendly accomodating staff. The rooms were clean and very modern, the hotel is located in a fantastic spot in Rome. I honestly cannot fault it in any way, it was fantastic.
- Luis (10/5): - The staff was great, all of them, some spoke spanish, very helpful, great transportation near by, metro and buses
- FRANK (8/5): - Everything was close by and very friendly staff
- Josephine (10/5): - Staff are nice; I don’t remember if there was a hair dryer in the room; no iron too. The entrance is hard to carry my luggage due to the stairs. Clean room. You can hear people in the hallway outside the room.
- Dafina (10/5): - This was a great property, close enough to get to many sites and restaurants in walking distance, but tucked away so it’s quiet and safe. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Early check-in was available for a reasonable fee. The mini-suite room was extremely comfortable and spacious with a beautiful street view. Beds were very comfortable. I would absolutely stay here again.
- Gisella (6/5): - Location of this hotel is great. Walking distance to trevi fountain and attractions. The hotel itself is outdated. Rooms are very tiny and not inclusive of little daily needs like included water. Front desk service is mediocre. If you are looking for a decently priced good location hotel, Hotel Alexandra is OK.
- Samantha (8/5): - Hotel was a bit dated. But clean, great area and great staff. The gentleman at the front desk was really nice. Breakfast was good. Would stay there again
- maria (2/5): - Bed Bugs. Huge and lots of them. We checked out immediately.
- John (8/5): - Was great
- Harshal (6/5): - We booked this hotel for three nights.
The check-in experience was not pleasant; the front desk staff was not welcoming, and they allotted a very small, old, and unclean room. The bathroom was clogged and hardly had space for a shower. We asked to change the room but got no positive response. We have no option but to spend a night in that unhygienic place.
The next day we complained to the higher management of the hotel, and they immediately changed to room. The room was newer, cleaner, and very pleasant.
The hotel's location is charming, close to public transport and downtown.
I recommend this hotel only if you get a newer room.
- Shania (10/5): - Town so dos
- Erica (10/5): - Safe walking distance to some atractions and to city bus. Friendly staff.
- May (6/5): - Room is extremely small, no amenities, my room wasnt cleaned daily. I like the location.
- pranita (10/5): - Excellent location - with metro & bus top at the doorstep. Walkable to all attractions & very friendly & helpful staff.
- stephanie (10/5): Comfortable and cool stay in great location - We visited Rome during intense heat (100’degree days!) and were so relieved the hotel had amazing air conditioning. We slept so comfortably, the beds are softer than others we’ve had in Italy. Our room was clean and although not huge- totally fine for a couple with two large suitcases. The staff here is so accommodating and speak multiple languages. The hotel is near many restaurants, attractions and the metro and bus several big bus stops are just on the corner. We enjoyed the buffet style breakfast it was the same stuff every day but had many options to choose from.
- Alexandra (10/5): - Overall a great hotel, the location is perfect, and the staff were amazing. Will deff stay here again on our next trip to Rome
- Cludithe (2/5): - It was terrible. We are very excited to check in the hotel but the staff (girl) doesn’t have a good customer service. I booked a room for 2 adult and 2 kids, so I booked a junior suite. She claimed that i booked for only 1person. I showed her my reservation that shows 2 adult and 2 person. She said the she doesn’t know why it happened and she wants me to pay for 3 extra person. I’m about to pay extra, but i decided to call the expedia. Good thing the customer service of expedia caed the hotel and it resolved the issue.
- Gandhi (10/5): - Location near the Train, Big room size, very friendly staff.
There are stairs within the same floor, so after taking elevator maybe need to go up and down about 5 steps each, no biggie but fyi.
- JOSEPH (4/5): - They have this property as a 4 star which is far from the truth. The A/C didnt work, the bed felt like it was over 20 years old. The hotel seemed more like a brothel. You never feel safe when the receptionist is behind a glass window. I would rate this a 1 star hotel.
- Daniella (10/5): - Absolutely great! Just off the Main Street but a very short walk away from the centre!!
- Adam (10/5): - Excellent area with easy access to subway. Quiet neighbourhood.
- Tegan (8/5): - The area was very convenient, within walking proximity to several main attractions. There was a Metro station just at the end of the street. Lovely hotel, and lovely staff. My one negative was that the walls/doors in the rooms were paper thin. You could hear the staff on the walkie-talkies in the morning and them cleaning other people’s rooms. The bathroom was quite small but overall it’s a lovely hotel for a short stay in Rome.
- Stuart (10/5): - Great location. Steps from the subway and within easy walking distance to Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps. We had two rooms (for family of four); one room had a better bathroom, the other had its own little private balcony. No complaints!
- CESAR (10/5): - The location is amazing. The rooms are big. Good option for families
- Tim (10/5): - The staff was amazing! Went out of there way to make sure we enjoyed our stay. Great recommendations for dining too.
- Belinda (10/5): - The hotel has an Excellent location. I love the rooms very spacious and clean. They only feedback will be the old carpet in the small lobby looks very old and dirty and also the keys to the room are ver heavy to keep carrying around the city. Very great value overral.
- Andrew (4/5): Bed bugs ruin otherwise good hotel. - Bed bugs. They offered to give us a new room but no more bugs were found after they stripped all the linen so we were hoping a change of linen would be enough. It wasn’t. Tons of bed bugs the next night. Everything else was great. Great breakfast and very convenient location to metro right outside. I’d like to leave a better review but you know. Bed bugs. The room also shook every so often like a small earthquake. No idea why. Didn’t ask.
- Sean (6/5): - Very conveniently located hotel, no bar for a night cap which was disappointing but overall a very nice place to stay
- Winston (10/5): Excellent Service - Great location! - Outstanding service, greatest location! Easy access to everywhere in the heart of Rome.
- Melinda (10/5): - The Hotel Alexandra staff were all friendly and helpful - Giada was especially kind in ensuring we had a room that worked for our needs. Each room is individually decorated, with some lovely touches - ours had a beautiful chandelier and a large amount of wardrobe space in addition to a sizeable bathroom. The location on pretty Via Veneto means many classic sights such as the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, and Pantheon are within walking distance and both the Metro and a taxi stand are just down the street. This is an especially safe area; it is active with many restaurants and cafes nearby without being particularly crowded or noisy.
- kimberly (10/5): Rome’s Hidden Gem! - Great location, great staff! They took very good care of us :)
- luis (10/5): - The staff was very helpful. Breakfast option was buffet style was very good. The reception area is small but the lounge areas are comfortable and well appointed there is also a computer room for business needs. Close walkung proximity to Spanish steps, Trevi fountain, Borghese museum and gardens, Sant'Angelo castle and even to Vatican city if you wish to walk the extra mile. HOHO bus may be taken a block away from the Hotel. Other attractions are a short taxi right away. Hotel offers for a flat fee of 60 euros airport transfer, the ride is between 25 to 60 minutes depending on traffic.
- Gabriel E. (8/5): - Close to all the action, including the metro. Walking distance to every major landmark
- jacob (8/5): - grghh
- Isabel (8/5): - Staff were lovely and location was great for our 3 night stay in Rome. The hotel itself is a little run down, but I would recommend Hotel Alexandra for a short stay.
- Kristian (8/5): - We stayed for two nights, the hotel was clean and in a great location. Our room was quite small but sufficient for us, if you are planning for a longer stay I would reccommend booking a slightly larger room.
Breakfast was good and the service also was great. Food value dor money overall
- David (10/5): - Once we had a layout of the city, we knew how to walk from our hotel to anywhere in Rome. The Staff is amazing and extremely helpful. Definitely stay there again.
- Simon (10/5): - Very good hotel, welcoming staff and overall an excellent experience. We would stay there again.
- Leslie (10/5): - We loved our room. We were pleasantly surprised at how large it was and the amenities that were available. The front staff were so nice and extremely helpful with anything we needed. If we ever go to Rome again, We will definitely stay at Hotel Alexandra
- Kimberly (10/5): - Very nice staff, beautiful room. Very nice stay.
- DHAI (10/5): - Very nice staff and great location
- Freddy Roberto (10/5): - Was really nice and the service was excellent! Very close to everywhere.
- penny lee (10/5): - This hotel is in a great location. 5 minute walk to all the hop on/hop off buses. Lots of great restaurants. This is a small hotel with great staff and the 2 rooms I have stayed in where redone. If we go back we are staying here again.
- Luis (10/5): - Bathroom to small can’t fit a body
- Leah (6/5): - Great location but wouldn’t stay here again. Rooms are super small and not clean at all. Hotel won’t let you eat food in your room or take your hotel key outside the hotel.
- Lori (6/5): - People were very nice and helpful, but this hotel is way overpriced. Minibar was barely cold, and they have rules to not eat in your room which is very odd. Curtains were broken and there was absolutely nothing that would make this a $260 a night hotel. The hotel is on the outdated side. They did not give me my supposed VIP bottle of wine either. Lots of stairs as well even though there is an elevator.
- Sandra (10/5): - Four friends stayed here for three nights in October. Although this is a modest hotel, it was perfect for us. The two rooms were comfortable. The shower in one was miniscule. The room in the other was small. But both were clean and comfortable. The staff could not have been more accommodating. They provided excellent service, fulfilling every request we made. And all were friendly and helpful. The location made accessing the city very easy. An easy walk to Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain, and the Borghese Museum and Gardens. We would recommend this hotel to others.
- Julie Dawn (8/5): - The staff were very friendly, helpful and always available. Our economy room was plenty big enough although the bathroom was quite small - both were very clean and the bathroom fittings were modern and worked well. We appreciated the kettle in the room. Once we understood the system for breakfast, we liked the fact that we could have breakfast in the hotel if we wanted on the day (no booking needed and charged when we checked out).
- Kelly (2/5): - First off. I don’t know where to start with this. There’s no electric key, the ac doesn’t work.
Horrible towels and the entire room was dirty.
There were BED BUGS.
- Joanne (8/5): - Great location . Lots of restaurants in the area to choose from. Very clean. Our room was updated.
- Soorena (10/5): - Great staff and very accommodating !!
- Grace (2/5): - This hotel is so old and has so many stairs that it is not condusive for lot's of luggage. The room we got smelled so bad and it was confirmed that it was the air conditioning and it would be best to keep the windows open. So this is an obvious issue that is not getting resolved. I thought I was going to get mold poising. The location is good, but honestly I would never stay here again. We only stayed one night and that was plenty.
- Diane (10/5): - Great location. Rooms were large and comfortable. Would stay again for sure.
- Johanne (10/5): Good location, very quiet, would recommend - Stayed for 3 nights, bed was very comfortable, hotel was quiet. Location was pretty good, walked to everything, just as mentioned on their website, would stay there again
- Jeremy (4/5): Needs new management, worst customer service! - The hotel itself is great. The huge problem is the controlling management. They demand their key back when you walk out for coffee. We were chased down on the street and told it was for our safety! Your taking my room key for my safety. Lol. Not to mention, they turn off the power to the room and AC at random times during the day. I had to ask to have my power and AC turned on 4 times. We left early because we felt like we could no longer trust them because of the control they were demanding. We said we done feel safe when you chase us down and yell at us, the lady manger replied, fine you can leave! Wow! Definitely not a normal customer service experience. The staff needs a new leader and they need to treat people better.
- Alexandra (10/5): Highly recommended! - A hotel in one of Rome’s most beautiful neighborhoods, quiet but yet full of bars, restaurants, a metro station and numerous bus station right outside your door! Staff is friendly and helpful, the hotel is clean and provides everything a guest needs for an accommodation
- Farnoush (6/5): - Bed was uncomfortable and shower drain was clogged up in both our rooms. Over clean hotel.
- Suchitra (10/5): - Nice location, bus and metro nearby; friendly and helpful staff. Nice street, good eateries in the next block, walking distance to many popular sites in Rome.
