• Fearless37368940338 (2/5): Hotel/Scam/Customer service? I'm not sure what to think - Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to go. WARNING PLEASE Hotel stated three of my banking cards were invalid and cancelled my booking. only to accept 10 minutes later the same room for £60 more with no issues on the same card. I was told my card "didn't work internationally and that they did not have the time to continue our conversation on the phone and to find somewhere else to stay". hardly a great representative of the hotel I wished to stay at. I spend a lot of time internationally and have never had an issue. I believe this may be a deliberate scam to hustle more money for the same rooms. bear in mind there was 10 minutes between cancelling my booking and offering me the same one for £60 more which is ridiculous. I think the way it was communicated to me was disgusting and even though they thought I did not understand Spanish they spoke amongst themselves whilst I was on the phone and I understood this. To treat someone different because I am English and to ultimately lie to me is disgraceful. I rebooked the room at the higher rate to see if it would be accepted and low and behold. it was. absolutely disgraceful. on top of this. I asked the lady on the phone if they accept bookings over the phone (completely rational) to which the response was "no". ultimately a hotel which you cannot call to make a reservation is either delusional or simply incompetent. I am sure if they would have tried my card it would have gone through successfully and then there would have been embarrassment all around. not only does a hotel cancel your reservations for "insufficient funds or wrong card numbers" they will not accept booking directly and tell you to go elsewhere. I tried to mediate suggesting if I was to book again at the higher rate and it went through then there was clearly a problem? after that perhaps on arrival I could have the original rate and use their taxi partner for my journeys during my trio. Apparently they didn't care because the next caller who might have made a booking like mine or simply wanted to stay at their hotel couldn't and to let them know this was more important than to speak to me. I since haven't been able to get an answer from their front desk (maybe it disappeared) and certainly no message back. I have thankfully found a lovely place to stay with no issues and they have accommodated all my requests kindly. especially considering my guest is partially disabled and this was made abundantly clear. what a shame to witness the decline of a hotel. Or perhaps they were always like this and that is the real shame. I'll leave it there but I have so much more to say I think it's a disgusting disgrace and Booking.com should consider these practices taking place. I have made a call to customer service and they were very helpful in trying to have this supposed hotel respond to me but to my HUGE surprise. nothing. take my money and leave me in the dark. is it cowardice or common practise. please enlighten me
• Xploretravelvega (4/5): staff is terrible - Booked this hotel knowing the location of the metro is closer to the hotel but metro 🚇 takes at least 30mins walking since we are slow in walking sometimes will takes us 35mins..theres a bus stop next to the hotel but we didn’t know the route we didn’t try.. Room - No complaints, clean and tidy and comfortable bed..however bringing your toiletries will be much needed for your stay.. toothbrush, toothpaste, slippers, cotton buds etc., Bathroom - be careful when taking shower , water tends to leak out from the bottom corner of the glass door for the bathtub, floor is slippery Staff- My first experienced along Europe the staff are completely not friendly at all .. they don’t smile, not welcoming, No greeting, even though you say hello no reply at all..you ask something they tend to ignore..sad but that’s reality IF I will book for my future trip in Barcelona I will choose the hotel with good customer service wherein guests are felt welcome..Front staff have absolutely no idea what hospitality means... they are clearly not trained at all.

I was given a key to a room that someome else was in and the front desk guy took another 29 Minutes to get me a room and was surely with me as if I was the reasons the room was occupied. He saw me struggle with my three bags and still made no offer to help. Then I get into the room and the aircon did not work. The hotel is dirty and unpleasant. I wouldn’t stay there again.
• CRISTIAN GUSTA (8/5): Precio alto, pero se paga la ubicación. - El hotel está muy bien ubicado, la habitación es muy cómoda y grande, falta mantenimiento, las ventanas estaban sucias, pero ya desde años. El baño muy bien, pero, dejaron papel higiénico ya empezado, raro. Tuve que pedir, no me cambiaron las toallas, como estuve 2 noches, puede pasar. El desayuno no es gran cosa, está bien. El parquing lo cobran por sepaeado, caro, y es demasiado chico, complicado parquear, y solo tienen 5.

• kostasicebar (10/5): Great price for expensive Barcelona - We chose this hotel because it was the cheapest room at a descent at least condition (from reviews and photos ). Hotel is near two lines of metro (red and blue line) so it was easy access from the airport. The area is very nice with lots of restaurants,bakeries etc around. Check in was easy and reception staff very friendly and welcoming. The room was very big with everything you need,tv free WiFi refrigerator. Single beds were big with very comfortable mattress.Bathroom also big with hot water all the time. A great choice in a good price ,we highly recommend it !

• Saul (2/5): - Apenas 1 hora de haber hecho el check-in robaron en mi habitacion. 45 minutos despues de hacer el check-in salimos del hotel y al regresar pasada la media noche la habitacion estaba desordenada y ae llevaron efectivo y joyas. Al llegar y ver la habitacion en desorden, baje a la recepcion y el empleado subio y pudo constatarlo. Me indico q ellos no podian hacer nada y que tenia que ir a poner la denuncia en la policia. Recogimos todo y nos fuimos a poner la denuncia y en la policia me indicaron que debia habet llamado y no tocar nada

• davidaexp1 (2/5): No heat/ blaring rock band - Do not stay here unless you want to freeze and like noise. Temperatures dipped in early October. I tried to turn up the heat but the front desk informed me the owner had turned the heat off and there was nothing they could do so you the charge you for a room but there is not heat. Also on Friday and Saturday night a nearby establishment has a band that blares music until 2am which pour into your room Management knows all about it but you receive no warning when booking your room. I would never stay here again. But I had prepaid for four days so I got screwed.
• jenkraut605 (8/5): Decent hotel; great location - I needed a hotel just to restart after squeezing in 2 days of sightseeing...if you like to walk, a lot of the attractions are within walking distance. Not the fanciest hotel but the staff is very pleasant and helpful and the rooms are clean. Countless bars, restaurants, cafes in the area. If you want a pleasant place to stay then I recommend this hotel.
• tardan (8/5): - Shower glass panel didn’t keep water in the tub. Water leaked all over the floor no matter how I tried to seal the gaps with towels. If you shower more than once a day, morning and after all day touring, will ne an issue. Be prepared for wet floor and mopping up. Request daily cleaning and have towels replaced. Otherwise it was a good stay. Location is ideal. Walkable to most tourist spots and dining locations. Taxi is less than 30 minutes away, during non traffic hours.

• Johnny (2/5): - The hotel is in a state of severe disrepair. Numerous aspects of the establishment are both deteriorated and unclean. Room 305, where I stayed, was particularly deplorable; the beds, bathroom, floor, walls, curtains, and windows were all in very poor condition. It is evident that a lack of maintenance has led to this situation. The people at the front desk were friendly as far as possible but the hotel itself is not a place I would recommend. Also take into consideration that the attractions are about a 25min walk away. They are not around the corner like in other hotels.

The location was a good location to either walk or catch buses to see the sights. Plenty of restaurants around the area. 2 convenience stores next door to the hotel.
• bevw335 (6/5): Poor wifi - Unfortunately the wifi in the hotel worked very sporadically and we found it very frustrating. Beds were comfortable and our room was spacious. We found the hotel to be very quiet which was nice. Breakfast was adequate and the croissants were delicious!

• Jonathan (2/5): - Where do I even start…the rooms are old and poorly maintained, the beds are terrible, the walls are thin and I’m no sure if the guests are louder than the cleaning staff but it’s a close call. The only thing more inconsistent here than the internet is the quality of the service received by the staff, most of whom have no business being in the hospitality industry with their attitudes and demeanor. The only thing ok about this hotel is the price and its location which neither are superb nor worth the trouble. In hindsight I would’ve paid more for a better night sleep and quality stay but you live and you learn.
• lucychaulaituens (4/5): On Paper it looks fab in reality it leaves a lot to be desired - They say you get what you pay for and whilst Hotel Viladomat might be considered budget. I've stayed in better budget hotel chain in the UK and central europe that offered more than Viladomat did. The location is great as its pretty central and close to Bus an tube links. If you'e just looking for somewhere to crash and leave your bags then maybe this i"Hotel" is for you. But for a family of three who'd booked two rooms it felt a bit like we were being ripped off. There are no tea making facilties in the rooms you have t go down to the rather uninviting lounge area which feels more like a college empty cafteria. It has a bar which isnt a bar because they don't serve drinks. You can get breakfast in the mornings but we didn't we bought some food from a locla super market as we were only there for four days. There are also quite a few cafes close to the hotet if you want to get your own breakfast all reasonably priced. The hotel - some were very helpful and welcoming others were exceedingly unhelpful and in come cases very stand offish. Its called a hotel and they do have other sites but it was more like a glorified hostel than hotel. And even in a hostel you can get complimentary tea coffee and water. Viladomat you have to pay and its from a dispensing machine. If we'd been staying longer we would have left and asked the holiday company for out money back as its misrepresenting itself as there is an inference that this Hotel offers more than you actually get and its not an unreasonable interpritation from a prospective guest. You could see the wear and tear in our room the bidet was cracked and there was chipped tiles. Our room becsue wanted a double bed not two singles placed together was on the small side with little light as it onlu had one very small window. Access to electrical points was poor only on one side of the bed. Given that these days most people have electronic devices phones, watches, air pods, tablets, etc and if you're a couple you'd want to be able to charge up and place your items on the bedside cabinet. But one of you will have to run a cable from the opposite wall to the bed. There was no draw space and no suite case rack Very few coat hangers given that there were two of us Even if you wanted to relax in the lounge area becuase it looks and feels so uninviting and more like a college cafe we didn't. Nothing was really explained to us when w checked in except making sure we paid the tax. On the plus side the rooms were clean. It was centrally located and there were plenty of cabs that you can hail (freenow) On the first day not long after we'd landed we took a took took ride aroud the city which was great to get your bearings, see the sights in general take pictures We went to the Picasso Musem a must but do book in advance and note that the museum is closed on a Monday. We took a ride on the Mountjuic Cable car (becareful there are two cable cars) - the Monjtuic one is a seated ride, the other one you have to stand. We didnt pay to go into the castle at the top we just strolled a little way around the grounds. We also took a cab to the beach even though it was a rainy day (our last) just for the view and a change of scenery. We didnt pay to go into Sagarda Familia on advice from friends who been before they said it wasn't worth the entry price circa 30-40 euros pp. We just looked from the front and took pictures. We fond some great places to eat including Indian Bambi but the greates find was My Way in the centre a restaurant/bar which was just a real delight and extrnely good value for money. Like I said we've stayed in budget hotel chains that offer more and cost less for the equivalent three nights. When we return, which we will do for longer; if we stay in the city we'd like to stay in the same area but we'll be booking into a hotel that has room service, a bar and a restaurant. Yes it will cost more but in the long run it will be worth it.
• Albina (10/5): - The hotel is very convenient to get to, close to the airport. We reached by foot some touristic locations, such as Sagrada Familia/Gothic quart. Stuff is friendly, quick check in and check out. I would recommend this place.
• niamhphipps (10/5): Great Hotel - The hotel is in a good location of Barcelona. 5 minute walk from the local train station if your looking to exploring the city for the day! We did arrive late at night, but the man on reception was very helpful and answered questions which we had about the room! Our room was very spacious and no issues at all, cleaners came everyday and we was very happy with the service. The hotel is not far from the hospital, so this because quite noisy in the nights but not too much! Overall a great stay and would happily come back

• heatherhL4375BB (8/5): It was okay - The hotel was clean. The rooms were cleaned each day and fresh towels were given. Breakfast was daily. It was cold cheese & meats, Spanish omelette(cold), eggs, beans, and various muffins. There was options for cafe con leche and narajano. The one thing I did not like was the construction noise heard each morning across the street. This was very annoying to hear each morning. Other than that, the location was okay. There was a coffee shop also across the street and a pharmacy within walking distance. It was a short walk to the metro/bus stops.

Front desk lady was very helpful. allowed me to use the microwave as well to re heat Glovo ordered food. Location is accessible and walkable. Neighborhood is a bit noisy with major traffic and sometimes rowdy crowd partying late.

• Rizy19 (6/5): Very well located Hotel in Barcelona - We stayed there to get in and out of Barcelona on 2 separate days. This hotel is located very close to the Train Station and the many places of interest. The rooms were clean and facilities were good. Wifi, however was very poor on the higher floors, the elevators were not working well during our stay. Front desk staff were very helpful and pleasant to deal with, especially when we requested for an iron. Overall we would recommend this hotel as a good place for a couple of nights.
• Nadine (4/5): - I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE HOTEL MANAGEMENT, it was very hot in Barcelona ,they didn't have a water cooler with cold water..they provide a coffee maker in the room..or a coffee and tea station in the lobby..they have a big restaurant that you can get breakfast for a fee..but you can't get a cup of tea.... The shower in my room i had problems getting it to work, when i did get it to work everytime i took a shower the bathroom floor was flooded, because of a faulty shiwer door.. And the air conditioning in the room was so low, and i tried but couldn't get it to kerp the room cool..so i was hot and bothered all night..the hallway was just as hot... The front desk staff some of them were friendly, and others were not helpful at all,especially when you don't speak (Spanish).... There were 2 glasses in the bathroom which i used, abd it took housekeeping 3 day before i got clean glasses.. The management of this hotel needs to upgrade his property .. There were numerous bad reviews on this hotel..but i still decided to book this hotel ..and i get to see what other guests were talking about.. THIS WAS MY BIRTHDAY TRIP, AND THIS HOTEL AND STAFF WAS A BIG DISAPPOINTMENT..
• Carlos (10/5): - Really nice clean hotel. Walking distance to some attraction in a quiet neighborhood. Bed was comfortable. On the down side they will need a update soon on the hotel also waiting for the only elevator working in the morning was not good
• S7813HUbarryo (2/5): The worst hotel ever. - I am 68 years old and have travelled the world for work for over 45 years. Staying in hundreds of hotels and I have never stayed in such a bad hotel as the Viladomat Barcelona. We arrived to find our booking cancelled because we were late checking due to a cancelled fight. We were 12 hours late and had pre-paid for the room in full for 4 nights to find they had cancelled us and made us pay again. I had to pay again and claim my money back and I am is still waiting for it. I per-paid for breakfast. But when I went for it I was told I would have to pay again and clime my pre-payment back. I ended up not having breakfast there at all, as it is crap and not fit for a dog to eat. Everything is stale, old, dry and only fit for the bin. I have made a clime for the pre-payment of my breakfast, Which I still haven't received back. The woman manager was the most rude Hotel staff member I have ever meet in my life. Everything was to much trouble. Air-con didn't work. The room was to hot. The WI-FI was so slow and kept cutting off. The noise in the room was unbearable. The double glazing is old and doesn't work. A building site opposite with banging all day and loads traffic all night. The worst hotel ever and it was recommend and booked for us by TUI. Please read the other one star reviews as they are not lying. It all true and more.
• FionaK02 (4/5): Hotel Viladomat - I stayed here for 1 night as part of a tour. Pros: -Friendly staff -Clean, spacious room Cons: -There were a lot of things in the room and in the hotel in general that could do with being fixed, replaced or updated - things were looking a bit shabby -I feel really bad saying it, but the breakfast was really poor. Cold watery eggs, horrible sausages, dry pastries & bread, watered down orange juice. It was unpleasant -There was a lot of street noise After the last night of our tour I moved to another Barcelona hotel.
• Lev (6/5): - It's a decent budget option that's fairly centrally located, although about 10 minute walking to any metro stops. Staff are just not well trained. First key on checkin didn't work so had to come back down, and then got locked out by a hallway door being closed that my key didn't work on that same night again. Maid entered my room and woke me up while I was trying to sleep in even though I had the do not disturb on the door. I don't understand why this happens?? Good things: The property is dated, but everything works well, bathrooms are quite nice, very good shower temperature and pressure. Beds are comfortable enough for a short stay. There is a refrigerator in the room.
• John (8/5): - Spacious room in a modern hotel. Fixtures and fittings were not pristine but acceptable and there was no issue with cleanliness. Everything worked. Location is reasonable for the main train station (within walking distance) and there are a couple of metro stations fairly close.
• 42lizam (8/5): You get what you pay for - If you’re out exploring Barcelona all day and just go to your hotel to shower and sleep, this is a great place to do it. But if you’re looking for luxury then look elsewhere. The hotel is old and a little run down, but it’s clean and staff is friendly. This was actually my second stay there in 6 months. I knew what I was getting, a clean room, a clean bed, in a nice section of Barcelona, a little outside the craziness of downtown. It’s close to bus stops and a short distance from metro station. I like to walk everywhere, so I walked to Sagrada Familia which is about 45 minutes away.

• Richard (8/5): Good choice - Hotel is really nice and room super spacious. I met 4 different staff members and they were all very nice. The only down for me is that the rooms are a bit dated. Walls needed a coat of paint, furniture had marks from suitcases and general use and the curtains look like they really needed to be washed (or maybe they were clean but rather than white they looked kinda gray. But all in all, very comfortable stay.

• Vishal (2/5): Super Bad - Staff is not friendly and not at all customer oriented. Hotel is managed by trainees and Manager is working part time and available only few hrs in a day. Breakfast is strictly ok and no cafeteria or Kitchen after breakfast hrs. Very poor service.
• LIZA (8/5): - Hotel is a little run down, but it’s clean; and staff is friendly and efficient. it’s a little outside the main downtown area, but very close to bus stops and metro station. I stayed there for a full week and have no complaints.
• Ellen (8/5): - Basic but clean and comfy with friendly concierge. Sheets and towels were not serviced on last night which was a little inconvenient but no big deal. 25 min walk to anything but in nice neighbourhood.

• douglas (2/5): - The initial room had very, very poor Wi-Fi connection and had to change rooms. The air conditioning in both rooms did not work. The fridge in both rooms did not work. The staff was not helpful with the Wi-Fi issue and was reluctant to do anything to help.

• Joseph (8/5): - We stayed in this hotel for one night a few years ago and we liked it, so we decided to come back again. This time we stayed a week. The hotel is nice and our room was mostly silent, which was great. It does show wear and tear, it needs to be refreshed and updated. The bathroom was fine but be careful when you take a shower to keep the rotating glass panel towards the inside of the shower, otherwise the water will spill out and flood the floor of the bathroom. Cleaning service, which we used only once, was not-so-good. I don't think they passed the vacuum in the room, only made the bed. They did not add toilet paper in the bathroom and the toiletries were not replenished, and they did not clean the bathtub... The location of the hotel is nice if you don't mind walking a little bit, since is not very close to the Metro. But bus H10 will get you very quickly to the center of town and La Sagrada Familia. Also, the Eixample area were the hotel is located, is a great area to stay, full of restaurants and urban activity. Loved it! Forget about the expensive breakfast the hotel offers. Just walk South a couple of streets and there are plenty of cafés on every corner were you can have local pastries and expresso coffee at a much better price...

Loved that the big window opened for fresh air, but pleased when we closed it there was no street noise. Only wish we'd had a kettle on the room otherwise, perfect.

Only criticism was the rudeness of the staff which left a bitter taste. 2 out of the 3 staff members at reception we saw whilst there were abrupt, unhelpful and unaccommodating. Not what you want to be greeted with after a long day travelling.

• Julie (8/5): Suitable Budget Accomodation - You get what you pay for and this hotel wasn’t super expensive so it was worth the stay. We found the staff rather lazy in organising things and uninterested in providing information but there was also a language barrier. Products in our mini bar were moulding and seriously out of date but we only wanted to use the fridge for our own items anyway. Room was accomodating and location was not too bad. We like to walk so was good for us but it is a distance from the main tourist attractions but as long as you enjoy a 2-3km Walk then it was ok. Noisy during the night time, we woke a bit to ppl yelling on the street and sirens passing by. I would say it’s a good budget hotel. We are used to staying in hostels whilst backpacking so it was suitable but I would definitely lock things up as I didn’t feel the hotel was overly secure in ensuring your room was safe from theft. Barcelona was beautiful though! Highly recommend walking to Bao Boa restaurant close by.

We weren’t expecting much seeing as it was three stars, but it was amazing. The room was nice and cool, bright and the staff made sure it was always tidied by the time we got back. 10/10 would recommend. It’s only a 15 minute walk from the shopping centre and pl. Espanya!

They could clean the net curtains in the room ...black w filth..and provide toiletries each day. We had to ask for soap and shower gel when we came back to room ...after that I didnt ask...the staff were not friendly...not rude...just not happy.. I prefer a warm engaging experience. The rooms are not noise proof. I wldnt go back.

• William (8/5): Convenient - Very convenient to see the plazas and sites in Barcelona. The taxi and metro stops are right there, and plaza españa and train station are close also. The air conditioning was not very good in the room so we were lucky the afternoons were mild in temperature.
• Verified traveler (6/5): - Location was a bit of a walk into the main city but if you don’t mind walking then it’s ok. No kettle in the rooms although the rooms were really clean and comfy (mini bar was nice). The main negative were the staff, (all except for the male receptionist- sorry don’t know his name) every other staff member was rude. They did not want to help us at reception, would not call us a cab and abruptly said ‘you can get one outside’ meaning we will have to flag one down when one happens to drive past. Waited 10mins, saw no cab, went back in and after insisting they begrudging called a cab. The staff at the bar seemed annoyed to serve us a drink at 1PM! This is just a couple of examples of the many many times they were rude to us (a group of 6). The continental breakfast was 11€ for cold meats and small selection of breads/croissant not worth the money at all. We didn’t pay for this. Walk a couple of blocks and you will find lovely little cafes that do great food for 6/7€. I never normally write reviews but our family party of 6 (25-55yr) never experienced such rudeness and unhelpful ness. So would not stay here again.
