• Josie (7/5): Too much for what it was - Location, parking, breakfast Bathrooms are old, need updating General Hotel common areas too. TV was not a smart TV. Asked staff for a different ironing board as the one in room was broken. Had to ask a 2nd time to get it Did not feel it commanded the higher rate based on these factors

• Geraldine (9/5): Good location for the metro and Macquarie Centre shopping - I encountered no problems entering the car park. I was thrilled to be allocated an upgraded room that had extra space for a lounge living area. I utilized in room dining for the night. I ordered a generous serve of freshly cooked fish and chips with lemon and sauce. There is a vinyl strip that separates the entry to the bathroom. On inspection it looks dirty but is stained permanently. It probably needs replacing.

• Niru Nirthanan (5/5): An outlier for a Mercure hotel - Location. Thermostat worked well. Self-check in. Dated rooms. Some appliances (microwave, fridge) are at least 10 years old or possibly older. Stained melamine mugs (could be replaced with ceramic mugs for less than a dollar from KMart). Broken ironing table. Flickering / flashing down lights. Certainly not a 4 star hotel.

• Rebecca (6/5): Staff were lively as usual. - Location as I was having surgery at MUH so my husband and I stayed the night before surgery and he stayed the night of surgery. Dust. Lots of dust on the tiles outside of the shower and along the tissue box cover and thick dust on the shelf that holds the microwave.

When attempting to make a cup of tea in the room one cup and saucer were still dirty from a previous guest. The milk had stuck the cup and saucer together. I washed up the cup and saucer myself.

• Katie (10/5): Comfortable and clean. - I like the predictability of staying at Meriton. You always know that the rooms will be clean and beds super comfortable. I have stayed at many Meriton Suites across Australia and know that I will have a comfortable stay. The rooms are exceptionally clean but could do with an upgrade to the bathrooms. This is purely cosmetic.

• Sarah (7/5): This is an expensive hotel for what it offers - The location is good as the hotel is near to the station and university. I was very late at checkin and the friendly staff on at night helped me work the checkin machine. Like others have mentioned, it’s an old property and the bathrooms could do with updating. There are no power points beside the bed. There is no insulation from the road noise and so I found it noisy from very early.

I wasn't aware that the car park entrance had been changed. I drove around the university to try and locate it. There is only one small sign to tell you where it is. Luckily, I was able to acquire street parking nearby. My bathroom wasn't cleaned on my return for my second night. The toilet was still soiled.

The kettle in the room being plastic they really affect the water taste so having a cup of tea in room was not pleasant. As this is a facility in the room I becomes a disappointment
