Guest Reviews
- Holly (10/5): In a Great location - Great location - nice area to walk around
- Floriane (10/5): Une pepite! - This hotel is one of the best I have tried in Paris! Loved all the details of the decoration and the bath products! It's also in a perfect location Rue de Charonne!
Room was very cosy and quiet, definitely highly recommend this hotel!
- Eun Young (10/5): - Beautiful neighborhood, away from touristy spots but still quite central.
- LORI (10/5): - An absolute joy and highlight of our trip! Perfect location, light & colorful, delicious breakfast. Clever artistic interior design make this hotel in a class of its own. The friendly, authentic staff was the icing on the cake! A+++
- Beatriz (10/5): - The 11th is a hidden gem. Absolutely loved the area and the hotel was very practical and well maintained.
- Fernando (8/5): - Property and staff great. Located in a noisy neighborhood.
- Gary (10/5): - Quirky decor, very good mattress, nice linens, good shower all in a postage stamp!
- Neil (10/5): - Perfect 3 star hotel for a short city break. Helpful friendly staff, great location - bars, restaurants and metro nearby. Can’t fault it.
- Elicia (10/5): - Great room, quiet, clean, and friendly service. Incredible area for food and avoiding tourist traps
- Jonas (10/5): - Great hotel with a Few quirks
- Polly (10/5): - Great electic hotel. In a wonderful neighborhood close to sites but not super touristy. Lots of great restaurant options.
- Tracy (10/5): Highly Recommend - This hotel is very cute. I would stay here again. The room is very tiny (French thing so not complaining about that!) For one person the small room is perfect. For two guests, maybe get the slightly larger room. It worked ok for us for 2 nights - a couple. I loved the lights in the bathroom and the red tile. Location is perfect! Not too touristy and plenty of great restaurants and shops in walking distance.
- Meynard (10/5): - I liked the starlights in the washroom. It was clean, had a cool design, and had great service.
- James (10/5): - Excellent value hotel. Clean & friendly in a great location
- Dereck (4/5): - Just awful
- Lara (10/5): - Fantastic quirky decor and perfectly situated in the 11eme.
- carrie (10/5): - 2nd time staying here in a month. Would go back again. Small boutique hotel. Nice area. Easy walk to metro. Cafes around. Staff are excellent. Rooms are small but well laid out. Small cupboard with hangers. Hooks on the wall and in bathroom.
- Russell (4/5): No window should say no window - We knew the room was small and that's fine. What we didn't know was that the window could not be opened. This was a room on the 1st floor. We are fine with small rooms but when a window is locked closed this gives a feeling of claustrophobia and a total lack of fresh air. I appreciate that sometimes hotels have no windows but usually this is stated. The more curious thing is that the window was locked for evacuation safety purposes, adding to the feeling of claustrophobia and realising it wouldn't be possible to evacuate through it, should that be needed. I hadn't worried about fire until I'd read that. If a room has no window it should be made clear. Wouldn't have booked it of we had know.
- Jeanette (8/5): - A lovely quirky hotel in a convenient location to Gare de Lyon - walking distance. The rooms are small; probably better for one rather than two. Staff were super helpful and welcoming.
- Ian (10/5): - Small bedroom small lift but somehow it all worked loved the decor
- Reese (10/5): - Easy check in & air conditioned room was nice. Friendly staff
- Margup (10/5): - Love the lights in the bathroom, toilet's a little too close to the sink but the lights are so pretty still 5 stars.
- Harry (10/5): - Lovely quirky little hotel in an equally charming area of Paris. Slightly oddball room layout (shower right alongside the bed behind a curtain!) but refreshingly unique design overall. Multiple bakeries, bistros, a craft beer bar, and even a Michelin star restaurant right outside the front door. All the necessary amenities nearby. Multiple metro stations an easy walk away. Delightfully friendly staff. A real bargain and would happily stay here again on our next visit!
- Michael (8/5): - Small room but okay for solo travel. Ventilation system needs attention.
- Jordan (8/5): - Cool little hotel in a great location
- Shoshana (10/5): - Lovely boutique hotel in a great location. Lots of dining options and a quick walk to the metro in either direction. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. Highly recommend!
- Huey Yng (10/5): Perfect stay - Perfect stay at Hotel Exquis. It was in a lovely neighborhood, close to 2 metro stations. Friendliest staff and Aircon was a bonus during the time we visited! Highly recommend and will stay again next time we r back in Paris!
- Anastasiia (8/5): - We really enjoyed our stay.
- Mobolaji (10/5): - Great. Staff was 10/10. Safe, accessible transportation. Overall a great place to stay.
- Fernanda (10/5): - Great hotel, friendly staff, well located. We will come back for sure.
- Lydia (10/5): - The staff at Hotel Exquis were extremely pleasant and accommodating - especially Nicolas. The hotel itself was stylishly decorated and felt very homely. The rooms were small, but had everything we needed and were amazingly quiet for being in Paris! The beds were particularly comfy. The rooms were spotlessly clean; the cleaners did a good and diligent job, we were grateful. The breakfast was absolutely delicious! And the atmosphere was friendly, warm and cosy.
There’s just a couple of reasons we can’t give our stay a complete five stars:
- In one of our rooms, when we arrived and entered the bathroom, the smell of drains was strong; however once we used the shower (the drain in which was the source of the smell I think) the smell went away.
- The sink in our room was *outside* the bathroom which meant we had to exit the room to wash our hands and then re-enter to dry our hands; this wasn’t the most ideal layout but we coped! It wasn’t a huge deal but worth noting.
- The plug in one of the rooms was blocked.
- The safe in one of the rooms broke, but *was* promptly fixed!
- In one of the rooms, the shower was *in* the bedroom with just a curtain separating it from the bed; again, just something to note.
Overall, a really pleasant stay. I’d definitely visit Hotel Exquis again - particularly because of the tasty breakfast, friendly staff and homely, well thought out decor!
- Mohammadhossein (8/5): - It was good
- Mohammad Hossein (8/5): - It was good
- Natalie (10/5): - Wonderful hotel, would stay again anytime.
- Taye (10/5): - Great location, friendly staff, lovely room.
- Mathew (10/5): - Great spot with a great location. I was able to access great restaurants, bars and bakeries here.
- John (6/5): - The room was very tiny and we struggled to move around and ran out of places to put luggage
- Jennifer (8/5): - The hotel was nice and good for the night. However, there wasn't really a place to be able to open luggage, which seemed unusual for a hotel. Nevertheless, it was a good location not too far from the metro or train station.
- ross (10/5): - Quirky and beautiful! Staff were so welcoming and we found the area very well situated for our needs. Would love to visit again.
- Alexander (10/5): - Really friendly staff, room was small but to be expected. Was an option for breakfast downstairs which we didnt have but did look nice.
- Luwen (10/5): - A very enjoyable stay at this hotel. Highly recommended!
- John (10/5): - Excellent location close to Bastille Square
- Jonathan (4/5): - I booked two beds (and paid extra for this) but the hotel only had a double bed room for us and no other options. I don't know whether this was an expedia error or the hotels but it ruined our stay in an otherwise nice hotel.
- Cynthia (10/5): - Very cute hotel that has the little touches. They give you a welcome sleep aromatherapy kit. Small rooms but well presented and very clean. The surrounding neighborhood is vibrant and fun
- Zaid (8/5): Great location, lovely place - We really liked the 11th quarter, and the location was great. The place is quirky but nice. However the rooms are really tiny. But that’s often the case in Paris and at this value it’s a trade off that we were OK with.
- Jessica (10/5): - A beautiful boutique hotel in a gorgeous quiet neighbourhood with plenty of options for dining and drinking. Walking distance to metro stations to connect to rest of Paris. Super friendly and helpful staff. Would high recommend and would visit again
- Rachelle (8/5): - Rooms are small and quaint but has everything you need. Love the different style in the hotel and rooms. Small elevator but can fit your luggage. Nice touch was the water bottles available in the room. A mini fridge would have been a bonus but for the price was great. Not far from the metro along with amenities near by. Friendly staff. Only complain was the fact that I made a mistake in my booking due to type zone I screwed up dates. Contacted both Expedia and the hotel to see if a change could be made, it was 3 days before and it was a he said she said. Expedia said it was the hotel that wouldn't change the reservation, hotel said it was Expedia. It would have been nice to be accommodated for the issue. Leaves a bit of a negative view on both the property and Expedia.
- Emma (6/5): - The corridors were musty so it was clear they didn’t get much airing and was like having to walk through a teenage boy’s room to get to your incredibly tiny (as in barely room for your case) room. Furniture the worse for wear. Huge chips out of a number of things in the room. Think they would have done better to reconfigure the space rather than focus purely on the deco. Also still selling it as renovated in 2015… 7 years are showing. This isn’t a selling point. Area was interesting. Think shoreditch meets Fulham lots of good bars and restaurants
- Natasha (8/5): - Sleep here one night before our flight, very very small room, ok for one person or dont book standard room. Interior is cool.
- Marion (10/5): - The Hotel decor was quirky and attractive.Pleasant staff, clean room. Our room (Insolite) on the ground floor was spacious with a large wetroom. The bed was very comfortable indeed. We did not hear much noise from the street. We only had a short walk to two different Metro stations. We did not have breakfast as there were so many cafes on our doorstep. Would go back.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Run down and it shows. - It feels so run down. There were no places to charge via USB. It was strange that there so many switches for every light in the room.
The worst part was when I dropped a jar in my room. When I asked for help I was told there was nobody available to help me pick up the shards of glass. All they provided was an oversized broom that didn't even catch the shards. And what looked like a shoebox. No dustpan in sight.
The fire alarm also went off early morning. It's okay if it was an accident and happened once, but it happened twice, and took forever to stop the alarm.
- Isabella (8/5): - The location was amazing and very central to bars and restaurants in the area. The decor was unique and fun which provided a fresh atmosphere. The staff were very accommodating to various requests and questions.
- Jan (10/5): - Beautiful and artsy. Very friendly host like Vicky is an added plus.
- Lauren (10/5): Loved the hotel! - Hotel Exquis was modern, clean, and funky. Great room, friendly, staff, and great breakfast!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Hotel Exquis is a great hotel - in an area of Paris which is away from the tourist attractions, but has many restaurants and bistros, lots of shopping surrounding it. It's a short metro trip to the tourist attractions ... The price is great.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Comfortable and really lovely bathroom. There was no coffee and tea making facilities in room only a kettle.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great stay, and very helpful staff.
- Fiona (10/5): Clean and cozy hotel! - Super comfortable and cozy place! The decorations are great, the shower was super clean and spacious, and the bed was comfortable and big. Check in and out was easy and we were so happy to be able to store our luggage for a few hours after checkout. Neighborhood felt very local and safe.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location with a lot of cool restaurants and cafes. Cool interior design.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely decor, comfortable bed, modern bathroom, helpful reception.
- Florine (10/5): nice staff, perfect area, clean room - nice staff, perfect area, clean room
- Gabriele (6/5): - The hotel is decent. It has a boutique/artsy feel. However it is getting a bit worn around the edges. Worn carpets and needs a repaint. We were aptly warned that the rooms are small but that is fine if everything else is exceptional. My biggest complaint was with the breakfast server. She was scarce and often nowhere to be seen. When she did walk through She clearly understood my few questions but refused to make any attempt to respond In English. She also never smiled. I got the feeling she doesn’t like her job much. The breakfast was otherwise ok. The hotel is in a good location. We found a fantastic crepe literally a few steps away.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Amazing! Staff was great. Hotel was very cool. Cool neighborhood. Will be back next time I'm in Paris!
- Mark (8/5): - Great location, decent prices, room was quite small, but this is Paris for you.
- Josefa (10/5): - The front desk staff is always super friendly and helpful. The rooms are charming, albeit small, and I love the twinkling lights in the bathrooms. The shower is the best! It is a perfect place to stay for a quick visit and could not be in a better location! I will continue to be a repeat customer.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Hotel room was rather nice, but limited amenities were supplied. Staff were not as nice as they coupd have been.
- Shlomit Yaakov (10/5): Great boutique hotel - Great boutique hotel, nice staff, great neighbourhood and location
- Pierre (10/5): - Wonderful modern hotel.
Television didn't work and Wi-Fi acess was spotty.
- Irina (8/5): Nice little hotel with very friendly staf. - Nice hotel , the room was tiny but very clean. There was no toiletries only soap. That was little bit disappointing with this room price. The staf super friendly help me with my arangments and serve my ariely check out with coffee and crosone at lobby. The area is nice with good restaurants and bar just around the corner.
- David (10/5): Perfectly located - Great location, very helpful staff. Close to Bastille, minutes from Metro, all you need for a weekend trip to Paris.
- Maria (8/5): - Staff were helpful and friendly. Enjoyed the decor of the bedroom.
- Kiks (8/5): - Nice and original hotel. Location is ok. Could improve the amenities (towels not the same size, very cheap shower gel). Breakfast should be filled until it closes at 11 (usually at 9-10 a third of the assortment is gone and not replaced). Friendly staff
- Mark (10/5): Funky hotel & great breakfast - Amazing little hotel, funky decor and bright colours, definitely one of the most unusually styled hotels we've stayed in (particularly enjoyed the LED lighting between the black shower tiles). Rooms may look small but compared to similarly priced London hotels it was a LOT more spacious, bed was comfy, plus an air conditioned room was a bonus. Not super close to the Metro but easy enough to walk there (~10 mins). Buffet breakfast was very good. Would definitely stay here again.
- John (10/5): -
- Lisa (10/5): - Beautiful hotel, clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. Would recommend !
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good service and staff, conveniently situated and clean
- Estella (8/5): - Comfortable
- Dave (10/5): Small but beautifully put together - Stylish boutique hotel with good cafes / bars and restaurants on the doorstep. Excellent access to the city at large via metro line 9 which is within 3 minutes walk of the front door. The Exquisite has all we wanted for our two night stay , the bed was comfortable the room was spotless and the shower was great
- Agajan (10/5): - Jan and Marcello were the best part of the hotel. Top notch service, hands down. Thank you!
- Jennifer (8/5): Great location! Perfect for families! - We had a wonderful stay! The location was great and most convenient to several metro stations and Bastille. They were most accommodating for our family with young children.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great area! Hotel rooms are small, but they are super clean and cute and beds are comfortable. Great hotel for the price!
- Alan (8/5): Tiny room but reasonable location - The hotel was situated several minutes walk from Bastille metro station which was ok with no cases. Lots of cafes and bars close by. The room was the smallest I have ever been in with no space to cross one another. However the shower room was good and the bed, very comfortable. Apart from advice on getting somewhere and calling us a taxi we had little contact with staff. There was a kettle in the wardrobe but nothing else and nowhere to put it. The wardrobe itself was very small with little other than hanging space. Consequently most of our stuff stayed in cases which had to be piled on top of each other which was inconvenient. The lift to our 4th floor room was tiny but efficient.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great hotel with amazing staff! - If you are looking for a comfortable, clean, and conveniently located hotel run by a wonderful staff, choose this Hotel Exquis. The staff at Hotel Exquis were truly amazing. They helped me plan an amazing proposal for my now fiancé and they did it all well under the budget I gave them. The rooms are small, but cozy and the bed as a queen. The showers are large and modern as well. And the hotel is located within a 5 minute walk of the Charonne metro station. Next time my fiancé and I are in Paris, we will most definitely be staying at Hotel Exquis again.
Thank you to everyone at Hotel Exquis for making me and my fiancé's trip to Paris unforgettable.
- michael (8/5): - Hotel room far too small. No room either side of the bed to get in! And not one drawer
- Gregory (10/5): Excellent, creative hotel in the heart of the 11th - Clean rooms (small, but that's Paris), very recently decorated, each with its own unique theme. (Mine was nice though not quite as creative as the hotel pics.) Very good value for money. Very good location at the middle of the 11th - oyster bar and great seafood across the street (Clamato). Staff is both efficient and friendly, all young, a bit trendy. Wifi is good but I didn't really test it (didn't do Skype calls or streaming video). The lift is tiny (it was tight with me, my backpack and another passenger) - it would be difficult to squeeze in several large suitcases. Only real downside: the breakfast bar is expensive (14 euros). But coffee is free if you want to just take one and go for a croissant from one of the nearby bakeries...
- Philippa (6/5): - Great location, comfy bed and friendly staff with cool decor so overall good value. Only issues we had was that the bathroom had a bit of a smell due to poor ventilation - no fan or window. Unsure if that was just our room though. The space is the room was also very limited. not enough to open a suitcase on the floor although we were only there on a short trip so didn't affect us.
- Andrew (10/5): - Amazing front desk staff and adorable rooms. I would absolutely stay here again in the future.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Stylish individual rooms with a very comfortable bed and funky shower. Only point of improvement would be that you're unable to open the window which means the room gets quite stuffy at night.
- Francois Rouet (8/5): Yes but no - Hotel location is fab, rooms are clean and bright, breakfast is good value.
Lost an item there, reported it the very same day, had to call 3 times and send e mail only to be told 3 days later than they did not find the pyjamas we left behind, not happy with that at all, the lack of communication was dreadful, won’t use it again, shame as it was a nice hotel...
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great location, huge variety of bars and bistros - Stayed here for four nights. Highly recommend.
Great location for visiting the main tourist attractions, whilst being able to stay and dine in a more relaxed environment
- Verified traveler (10/5): Fantastic location & first class staff!!!! - The hotel was lovely. Our room was beautiful but small, which is to be expected in Paris I guess. The icing on the cake was that the staff were absolutely fantastic, no request was too much and I cannot remember the last time I received such great customer service!
- Henri (10/5): Nice staff, nice room, nice location - Really nice stay on Jan 13 for 1 night.
You feel welcome at the reception and the room is small but newly refurbished and nicely decorated.
- Aaron (10/5): - Service from Vicky and staff was impeccable above and beyond expectations. Truly an example of customer service.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - 10/10
Wouldn’t recommend any other hotel in Paris.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Amazing - It was our second time at this great hotel.
Comfortable beds, friendly and helpfull staff.
- Jenna (10/5): Unique, fun hotel - We absolutely loved our stay! The staff was exceptional, and the design of the hotel was unique and fun. Great shower and comfortable bed. Lots of great restaurants nearby, and it’s not far from Pere Lachaise cemetery. Highly recommend!
- Thom (6/5): Not worth the cost - Hotel is fine, no natural light on ground floor so very strange place to stay. Not worth the cost.
- Ramani (10/5): Good location, clean, comfortable and friendly - We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Exquis. The Metro station is just a few minutes walk away, or you can walk down the road to Place de Bastille in less than ten minutes. Most places in and around Ile de la Cite were within a twenty minute Metro ride. The roads around the hotel have a good mix of restaurants, cafes, bars and various shops and the area has a friendly atmosphere. The hotel itself was delightful. The staff were always friendly and helpful. We had a comfortable room which was clean and well-presented, as was the whole hotel .This was a great base for exploring Paris. We came back to the hotel and ate locally each evening, enjoying all our meals. We would definitely stay here again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Ideal for quick city break - Lovely place. friendy, helpful and informative staff at front desk both day and night. great location. only a 20 min trip on metro. only 1 metro line needed. metro station 2 min walk from hotel.
- Thomas (6/5): Average hotel with bad breakfast - The hotel is fine. Nicely renovated but the rooms are quite small. There is no one working in the hotel after hours and no restaurant. Coffee is terrible. Service was ok except for when we asked for room service for breakfast. Not good.
