- Elizabeth (8/5): Very convenient central location, comfortable and practical room, in a famous and magnificent hotel. - The room was small, but very well designed and the bed comfortable. If we had wanted to spend time in the room it wouldn't have served terribly well, but we didn't - of course a larger room would have been more expensive still. The hotel is an architectural masterpiece, especially the downstairs area and the great staircase. We paid for the stay several months in advance. On leaving we asked if we would pay a 5% tip which we had heard nothing about before. It was difficult to see what service we had received which would merit that. The room was rather expensive for its size, though doubtless in line with central London prices.

The experience ( and it was an experience) was second to none. The breakfast was wonderful. Brilliant choice, fresh juices, lovely pastries. The staff were outstanding. Shout out to Amber, Kristina, Jay and the amazing doorman Thomas!!!!( I hope I have all the names right).. and Matthew your specialist French polisher and restoration guy! The environment overall was a joy. The room was clean and cozy, the bathroom was well appointed. If you had forgotten anything the hotel would happily provide it. Don’t miss the cozy fire area! Great for a cup of tea and a book or chat. This is a great hotel for everyone. I was using it as a business base and it worked really well! Social hour 5-6 with a complimentary drink is highlighted upon arrival and worth a visit! Oh one more terribly important thing….. don’t miss the best Risotto you will ever have in the restaurant! Sticky Toffee pudding also amazing! I was genuinely sad to check out!

- William (7/5): It was fine, but probably won’t return. - The building is very pretty and the sticky toffee pudding is amazing. Our room was a family room, but still quite small (even by European standards). And our toilet didn’t work the best. I also don’t love that they automatically add a 5% gratuity on top of your room bill - this adds up fast. And on top of that they still automatically include service charges and gratuities on all your room service and restaurant expenses. I am happy to tip, but this felt over the top.

- richardcI9593JM (6/5): Somewhat disappointing! - The Fitzroy is located on some of London's premier real-estate on Russel Square and situated in a stunning Victorian luxury hotel; the opulent architecture of Charles Fitzroy Doll is truly amazing. IHG/Kimpton have stylishly renovated/updated the rooms to make for a comfortable modern stay. This was not however a 5 star experience for us! I get the 'shabby chic' theme, but the welcome to the hotel by the doormen was missing the 'chic'. The room was small, fine if you were a single person staying for night and only needing to unpack your overnight toothbrush, but not a couple staying a few days! The invitation to 'happy hour' was welcome but actually was 'a' drink - that was half a glass of wine at the end of the bottle! Take a hospitality lesson from some of the other IHG brands! Breakfast was good, but all-in-all, not really a luxury experience at all. Even in London, there is better value than this.

My wife has encouraged me to experience this British tradition at many venues including some very posh and glamorous hotels around the world and our afternoon tea at the Fitzroy is way up there with the best. The opulent restaurant setting, attentive staff and amazing in-house made food was top draw and we couldn't find fault with anything. This hotel deserves much praise for investing in a great British institution that is the 'afternoon tea' and we would recommend anyone to go and visit this remarkable venue.

I arrived on my birthday and they left rose petals on the bed and table and a birthday cake with a lovely note which was a really nice touch. I know London hotel rooms can be quite small but it was very small for a queen room. You couldn’t move in the bathroom without the door closed and the light switch on the outside of the bathroom meant the other person would wake up as it was so bright any time we used the bathroom during the night.

Loved the thoughtful stuffed stockings delivered to our rooms on Christmas Day. Had booking issues with guest relations prior to arrival as well as the correct number of IHG points to be deposited in our account after paying quite a bit to stay there for a week. Worked directly with the hotel’s operations manager and she fixed the issues. Thank you Estefania! And, though housekeeping did a good job cleaning our rooms, they kept forgetting to pick up our used dishes/glasses/cutlery.

From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with genuine warmth and professionalism. The efforts of Rosemary, Elliot, Heet, Ley, Lottie, and the guest relations team greatly contributed to making our stay memorable. We look forward to returning in the future, as everything exceeded our expectations. The property is gorgeous and modern with everything you need. It is safe and convenient for walking and accessing the tube system. It is worth noting that parking may pose some challenges, so utilizing public transportation or rideshare services such as Uber could be more advisable for those traveling by car.

The biggest disappointment was that there were functions on in the ballroom on both nights that we stayed. We weren’t informed of this and when we came back to the room, you could hear the music so loudly even though we were on the 3rd floor and it went on well after midnight. My partner went down to reception at one point to ask if they had any earplugs because we couldn’t sleep, they said no. When asked what time it would be finishing he said 11.15pm, but like I said it went on far later than that. It really has dampened my experience, and has made me have second thoughts about booking again.

A very big thank you to Rosemary in guest services who was absolutely fantastic with our booking. Nothing was too much trouble and she always kept in touch. From when ws first booked until our arrival Rosemary thought of everything to make our stay extra special. She is amazing and a credit to your hotel. - SavvySeattleTraveler (4/5): Disappointing Start - I rarely write negative reviews, but our stay at Kimpton Fitzroy (Jan 13–20) warrants one. We arrived exhausted from an overnight flight, soaking wet, and had to wait FOUR HOURS to check in. Four hours sitting in the lobby in wet clothes. Then, a sentimental diamond necklace — irreplaceable to me — went missing from our room. One concierge kindly looked into it, but after that? Silence. No call from management. No real follow-up. Nothing. We were left to simply accept that something precious to us was gone, with no accountability from the hotel whatsoever. And when we asked to extend our stay, we were told to go book it ourselves online. At a luxury hotel. Unbelievable. The individual staff members were pleasant, but pleasantness is not the same as care. We felt let down at every turn. This was the start of a five-week trip and Kimpton Fitzroy managed to cast a shadow over all of it. Truly disappointed. I sent four emails to the assistant to the general manager, just to follow up before writing a review. I got zero response.

What was particularly upsetting was that at the time of the incident there was no staff at the front entrance to assist, and when I later tried to seek help, I did not receive proper support or guidance from the hotel staff. As a guest of the hotel, I expected a basic level of security and assistance, especially when an incident occurred directly outside the hotel entrance. This situation was very distressing for me.

I opted for a sleeping room as I was only staying for one night, but the room was a really good size, including a large television, fridge and very good sized bathroom. This is the second time I've been, and the hotel is excellently located just around the corner from Russell Square tube station which makes getting there from St Pancras very easy indeed. There was a fridge in the room, but it just had milk in it to make a coffee/tea - it would have been nice as a mini bar with cold drinks in. My main criticism however and the reason for the lower score was the toilets on the Lower Ground floor near the gymnasium and meeting rooms. They were disgusting - there was urine all over the floor and the toilets weren't flushed - not particularly pleasant for a 5* hotel.

We had told them in advance that it was my wife’s birthday and we were upgraded to a superb room . When we arrived at the room there was a lovely note welcoming us and a beautiful cake for my wife’s birthday. We arrived early as my wife and daughter were going to an afternoon show but they made one room available immediately and placed all our cases in that room until the other was ready. We had dinner in the hotel as we wanted to relax totally and had a well cooked meal from a wide choice . There was a mix up with our main courses which was acknowledged immediately. The staff apologised and ensured we were completely satisfied by being attentive and pleasant.After our meal we were told that the extras we had ordered, plus our deserts and coffees would not be added to the bill! Breakfast in the morning was fabulous. Lots of choice , great service and really nicely cooked. I am coeliac and my gluten free toast was really good , many hotels don’t toast gluten free bread properly, but here it was done to perfection! Additionally, I was able to have it with real honey! I was also offered gluten free cereal and porridge All staff we came in contact with from the doorman , reception, restaurants and concierge were professional, efficient and totally pleasant throughout our stay

The staff were unfailingly friendly and helpful. We love this hotel and plan on many future visits. The only downside this time was that our room was exactly opposite the cleaning/maintenance rooms and thus had a lot of noise and disruption throughout the day.

It is beautiful & historic from the outside and then the inside is so unique and incredible. We got to see Lucky George the dragon (twin is at the bottom of the ocean on the Titanic), and the service was top notch. Shout out to Josepf and his team at concierge. They went above and beyond to help us navigate our first time in London, helped with bookings and print outs, and all of them came to know us well by the time we left our stay. All of the guys on his team were amazing. The room was spacious and really well done. Def an old but immaculately kept hotel, with a tow feel of a time that was more exciting and welcoming. We were sad to go!

- 14karenx (10/5): Thank You Joseph and Mykola! - I’m currently staying at Kimpton Fitzroy London, and I felt compelled to share the outstanding experience we’ve had with the concierge team. Shortly after we checked into our room, we received an email from Joseph letting us know that the doorman had noticed the top handle of our suitcase was broken. They kindly offered to help arrange a repair. Since we mentioned that we would be leaving in five days, Joseph immediately contacted the suitcase store to make sure everything could be handled within our limited timeframe. The very next morning, Mykola took the suitcase to the store so it could be fixed as quickly as possible. To our surprise and delight, it was repaired and returned to our room the very same day, in perfect condition. This level of attentiveness, initiative, and efficiency truly exceeded our expectations. The team didn’t just respond to a request, they proactively identified an issue and resolved it seamlessly. A heartfelt thank you to Joseph, Mykola, and the entire team for such exceptional service. Experiences like this are what will bring us back to Kimpton Fitzroy London on our next visit to London.

As this was a reward night, I wasn’t expecting the usual amenities and bonuses you get when you book a room in the usual way but I was wrong. They upgraded my room and I was given free breakfast the next morning as my welcome amenity. The room was lovely and very comfortable- the bathroom is stunning as are the public areas of the hotel. The staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly and when one of the staff members was showing me the way to the dining room the next morning, he told me all about the connections the hotel had with the Titanic. It was fascinating. I would highly recommend the hotel and can’t wait to go back. Thank you for a fantastic stay

Service is impeccably on time, always gave me extra food and asked about my day. This is my favorite hotel in London by far! The bed is also so comfy and it’s a beautiful property.
- 359sharar (10/5): London Holiday - We had a wonderful stay at the Kimpton Fitzroy London. The front desk was so helpful and the doormen were so attentive to our travel needs. Rahul took our roomservice order and delivered it within minutes with a bright smile and a weather update for our travels this morning. Would recommend this lovely hotel to anyone staying in London!!!
