- Don (10/5): lovely hotel with great staff, beautiful artwork on every wall and high class rooms and bra be restaurants. the view is - everything. the lobby, location and the view from our junior suite upgrade looking out into borghese gardens! gorgeous! bed comfy. bathroom divine! breakfast delicious! needed a dresser of drawers in the large roomy suite. two suitcase stands - as there was only hanging in the amour and it was not enough for my clothing at a glance.

- Ximena (10/5): Hotel boutique precioso ubicado en la mejor zona de Roma - El Splendide Royale es un hotel boutique muy elegante, con una decoración muy cuidada y bella. La habitación es bastante amplia comparada con hoteles ubicados en centros históricos de ciudades importantes. La cama es muy cómoda y en general la habitación muy linda. El restaurante Mirabelle es precioso, con la vista espectacular hacia la Basílica de San Pedro y toda Roma. La ubicación del hotel es muy buena, cerca de Piazza España y de las mejores calles comerciales de Roma. No hay nada que no me haya gustado, quizás solo mencionaría que el personal que atiende para hacer check in/out no es especialmente amable.

Hanno offerto un upgrade gratuito ad una junior suite superiore, abbiamo soggiornato in una camera magnifica con due bagni dotati di ogni comfort, letto molto comodo, mini bar fornitissimo, dotato di piccola cantina di vini nella zona giorno. AND it was was my wife s 50s birthday so, considering that we were already staying at the hotel, she was expecting a great dessert / celebration for that (we have advised that). But the experience overall at the hotel was great (10) but at restaurant was 7. Good restaurante, beautiful view, but good room to improve that! Thanks again for the staff regards

Food quality was quite poor for the price, restaurant and room service. Ordered a 40 euros cheese platter that looked like random pieces thrown on a plate. 2. - Karen (9/5): Lovely Old world charm meets modern amenities and superb staff, away from crowded areas. - The Hotel is beautiful, and the rooms are spacious, albeit our bedroom was modernly furnished with only the oversized king bed and two large comfy chairs. Pillows and bedding comfy. the Lighting was good, location of charging outlets was perfect .Bathroom lovely, was exceptionally easy, great. modern , large rain shower, marble sinks with excellent toiletries. Robes were nice, turndown service excellent, Entry has lots of old world charm in the decor. Breakfast on the rooftop was abundant and delicious. Formal restaurant at rooftop had fabulous views, Outdoor terrace not available when we were there. Dinner menu was limited but creative, very good, nice romantic place to dine, pricey, but service was superb. Wine list exceptional. The hotel is really a bit out of the way, and getting taxis was problematic, sometimes waiting about 15 minutes even for an Uber. but the staff and doorman really tried The well placed syktop bar, with stunning views, does not open for an afternoon cocktail until 5 pm, nowhere else to get a cocktail other than upstairs formal restaurant, which was peculiar location at 4:30 pm.. empty of everyone.

- Robyn (10/5): The Hotel Splendid is always our preferred Hotel when in Rome. It is like home and so comfortable - The Hotel Splendid never disappoints. The efforts they made for our 4 month old baby were exceptional. He even got his own beautifully folded towels and some cute little toys. The beds are magnificent and the rooms beautiful. We loved the breakfasts with Gina and Maura and the fabulous Brunch and bar with Gianmarco and his team. The front desk and doormen are always so attentive and helpful. Excellent service always. The hotel is across from the Villa Borghese Gardens and so is in a wonderful area, close to green spaces and the very convenient 100 bus. I don't like the additional discretionary service charge that is now applied upon check out. ( It has only just been in place for a year) We have always tipped in the past on our own and I prefer that. Of course the staff are worthy of a tip, but, as the property is on the higher scale, the discretionary tip, worked out according to the value of your stay, can add many $$ to your bill if you are not prepared for it. I also always hope that the staff who deserve it, are the ones who receive the tip, and this is another reason I don't like the service charge.
- Priscilla (10/5): Piacevole sorpresa a 10 min da Piazza di Spagna ed una vista dal Ristorante su tutta Roma e Vaticano - Ho soggiornato qui grazie ad un suggerimento di un amico, devo dire che è stata una piacevole sorpresa. Al ricevimento mi hanno detto che era un ex convento, che è stato rinnovato di recente, personalmente ho trovato un ambiente confortevole, silenzioso e molto curato. Si trova nelle immediate vicinanze di Via Veneto, in una zona tranquilla ma comodissima per muoversi in città. Avrò impiegato una decina di minuti per arrivare a Piazza di Spagna a piedi. Il momento più bello? L’aperitivo al tramonto allo Skybar, con una vista pazzesca su Roma. E a cena raggiunto da un collega, il ristorante Mirabelle è stato una vera coccola: piatti deliziosi e un servizio attento ma mai invadente. Anche se è stato un soggiorno breve, mi sono sentito davvero ben accolto. Sicuramente la prossima volta verrò con la famiglia. Ho prenotato una Superior ma non ha una vista particolare, ma alla fine per una sola notte va bene lo stesso

Conveniently located within reasonable walking distance from the Colosseum, the Vatican, and Spanish Steps. Hotel Splendide was not just a place to stay, but a wonderful experience.

Notre chambre et salle de bain étaient spacieuses et très propres….rooftop de toute beauté…déjeuner très bon et service impeccable!
- Jennie (6/5): Hugely dissapointing, relying on past glories - We have been visiting /staying at this venue most years over the last 16. The location is very pleasant, being central whilst quiet. We received an upgrade from a Superior room on check in. Oh dear. How desperately sad. We have held this hotel and particularly Mirabelle restaurant in great esteem, hence our many visits. This time, our impression was of tired decor not particularly clean and a soul less room. The Mirabelle food was average and so dissapointing for a restaurant whos' cuisine we have consistantly receommended and returned to over many years. Canapes were no longer offered, my foie gras dish overcomplicated, as was my husband's tartare. Lobster for which there was a 30 Euro supplement was just boring, the beef ok. Dinner was over 500 Euro for two courses plus a shared cheese plate, a glass of Sauternes, one glass of vintage champagne and one glass of Brunello. The room bill of over 1,000 Euro for two nights...... In short, the Splendide is in desperate need of a refurbishment, particularly the rooms and corridors and the Mirabelle needs a shot in the arm. The price for both is just not providing cost to benefit any longer and, if it wishes to remain competitive in a fierce market and on both counts, a serious re think is required. We shall be staying elsewhere in future, with great sadness.

- Sarb (6/5): Defo Not a 5 Star - You’ll be disappointed - Hotel was ok, breakfast very poor and no mention of needing long trousers on the booking site or hotel information which meant we couldn’t attend the Roof Top Bar, and another restaurant. Only reason I booked this was for the Roof Top and being a 5 Star Hotel - which it definitely wasn’t. The Carpet on the step down to Breakfast was manky and ripped/frayed on the edge which made it a trip hazard!!!

The room was beautifully designed—spacious, refined, and filled with small details that made it feel personal rather than just luxurious. Waking up to the soft light coming through the windows and the view of Rome’s greenery was something truly special. What really stood out, however, was the atmosphere of the hotel itself. It’s not just a place to stay—it feels like being welcomed into a historic Roman residence where every corner tells a story. The staff carried themselves with a perfect balance of professionalism and warmth, making me feel genuinely cared for during my entire stay. Breakfast on the terrace was an experience of its own: sitting above the rooftops of Rome, sipping coffee, and watching the city slowly come alive beneath the morning sun. It was magical in every sense of the word. Two nights here felt both too short and perfectly complete—a retreat full of beauty, calm, and a touch of romance. Hotel Splendide Royal didn’t just host me; it gave me memories I will carry with me for a very long time.

The room was comfortable and clean. The room had the European 2 pin socket as well as a 3 pin square socket. The breakfast could have had more options.

Additionally the gym was new yet had a must order and down in the basement. It was called a spa yet not a spa. Breakfast beautiful and delicious as was the night lounge upstairs
- Darnley (8/5): B - I only rate this hotel a B because I have stayed at their sister hotel in Paris an it is an amazing property with A+ services. And I certainly believe they could do better! Although this property is beautiful, the service is not consistent. The gentlemen who work the front desk are attentive and welcoming but the women are not. That said, I had a good stay and enjoyed the ambiance at Adele.

- AMMAR AHMED (4/5): Disappointing Stay – Not Worth the Price or the Br - We booked this hotel based on its affiliation with “Leading Hotels of the World,” but the experience did not reflect that standard. The first room we were given was extremely outdated — old furniture, noisy air conditioning, and an overall worn feel. Given we were paying nearly $900 per night, we asked to change rooms. The second room was said to be refurbished, and while some elements were newer, the mattress was clearly not. It felt at least 20 years old, making it difficult to get any decent sleep. There was also a strong, unpleasant smell in the room, suggesting it hadn’t been used in a while. Breakfast, which was included, was well below expectations — closer to a 3-star hotel in quality and selection. Limited variety and lackluster presentation. The only two positives were the location and the well-known brand, but sadly, the hotel doesn’t live up to either in terms of experience. Would not stay here again or recommend until major improvements are made.

Only negatives is the rooms were a bit small, only one tiny closet and not nearly enough room to put our clothes. also when checking out, the automatically added large tip to the bill, and only because I looked and asked did they tell me what it was. It is optional but was after I looked. Service is excellent, and MIrablle was one of the finest meals I have ever had
