Cees (9/5): Nice hotel in a great spot but don't expect the hotel staff to be flexible to your needs - The location on the Prinsengracht can't be beaten. It's close to everything, including many dining options, a lively night life scene with the theatres only a few blocks away. The hotel itself was great. The room wasn't overly large but nicely decorated and the bed was extremely comfortable, with a TV popping out from an encliosure at the foot end of the bed. The bathroom was modern and luxurious. The windows have shutters which, even on a Saturday, block out the noise from the street. Looking out from the window from our room was De Prinsengracht, which was a nice touch, being so close to the gracht and its iconic buildings. The Hotel Staff wasn't particularly accommodating. We had to rebook all our flights and move a lot of things around for our holiday due to the war in the Middle East, which meant we were now arriving in Amsterdam a week earlier than planned, for a 1 night stop over on our way to Finland. We tried to move our reservation with Hotel 717 to this earlier date but despite the hotel still having rooms available on that date, they would not allow us to swap our dates due to the type of booking we had made on Booking.com. I pleaded with them several times and even would have accepted a lesser room for the price we paid but they did not budge. We even explained the situation in detail but they didn't care one bit (pointing to their internal 'policies' as if breaking them would break the law of the land) and we ended up having to choose to either keep the room for the night (we were arriving in Amsterdam that day again from a European internal flight we had previously booked as per our original plans) or continue onto our next destination (staying with family we had not seen for 7 years) and decided, out of spite, to keep the room and stay the night. There was no way we'd allow them to sell the room again after being this customer-unfriendly. The hotel is nice but the owners should take a good look at themselves. We ended up out of pocket for an extra (very, very expensive) night in Amsterdam which was unnecessary if the owners had simply allowed us to swap our nights. We will not be coming back. We love Amsterdam and will be back but we'll be staying elsewhere.

Lots of places to eat in evening also close by. The stairs are steep as with fitting the property age, but add to the charm of the place. Staff are wonderful and extremely helpful, breakfast was lovely!

Leonore (9/5): Prachtig verblijf in hartje Amsterdam - Zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel. De kamer was prachtig ingericht en hygiënisch. Het ontbijt was uitstekend. Daarnaast is het hotel gevestigd in een mooi historisch pand en ideaal gelegen, op wandelafstand van de belangrijkste toeristische trekpleisters. Het enige kleine minpunt was de waterdruk in de douche, die wat zachter was dan verwacht.

He was extremely warm, genuine, and attentive to every detail, always going out of his way to ensure everything was perfect for our stay. What stood out most was how personal his service felt. He anticipated our needs, offered thoughtful recommendations, and handled everything with such care and professionalism. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble for him. He really elevated the entire experience at Hotel 717 and made our stay feel very special. It’s rare to come across someone so dedicated and naturally hospitable.
