Guest Reviews
- annabethm2024 (4/5): Wifi does not work - First of all, the entire place has a weird smell similar to the one from a hostel I stayed at in Barcelona, where a hazing football team had their teammates vomit a mysterious liquid... Anyway, that was the smell that this place had, which makes me suspect it is not clean. Second, the wifi never worked. The breakfast is okay, and the breakfast room has nice views, but that's about the only praise I can give this hotel.
- vinnyr961 (2/5): WORST HOTEL IN FLORENCE - There are multiple reasons for my 0 star review:
1: The smell in the room that came from the shower drain was HORRIFYING! It stunk like rotten eggs.
2: The wifi signal is at 0G's meaning you will have no internet.
3: If you are staying in rooms 101, 201, 301, or 401 with 4 people there is only enough hot water for 2.5 people and the rest are assed out of a hot shower which I have never encountered at a hotel in my life.
4: The room was big enough for a convicted felon because that is all they are used too being in.
5: The breakfast was better at McDonald's seriously; the woman stuck was forearm deep in the canned pear jar with NO gloves on so if you value sanitary conditions I would advice staying at the Apollo across the street.
- U6218CNsallyb (2/5): Only book if you are desperate - This hotel does not warrant 4 stars.
The room I stayed in was terrible, and small. I asked reception if they had another room I can move to but they said no. Their attitude was appalling and unhelpful. I had to drag one of the reception staff to have a look at my room. When we went up he couldn’t open the door so had to bring a master key. He then tried to figure out how to open the balcony shutters but I wish he hadn’t as the view was shocking! The safe was broken and he had to call a maintenance to repair the door and safe. Then I was surprisingly offered another room that appeared to be available but was in the same state as my room. The lady at reception was so rude when I complained to her that she told me to move aside to serve someone else and then ignored me after. She kept telling me there was no other room but I was told by another reception staff member that there was a room.
There was one small bar of soap, one hand towel and a body towel- though becareful how long you take showering as the hot water runs out.
Breakfast was not even close to continental…. It wasn’t even a breakfast and was absolutely unhygienic.
I have included all the photos that tell a story of miserable hotel stay.
- B3830FFeval (2/5): Horrible and terrible - I don't like writing bad reviews but this hotel was like nothing in the picture it had mold in the shower and had terrible breakfast the salami tasted like plastic you won't find it cause the entry looked so different
- irma (2/5): - The door to our room wouldn’t open. He promised to get it fixed right away. We could barely get our suitcases and didn’t get done.
Frame of the closet door was broken. We couldn’t even open it and I took a bunch of pictures. I spoke to them about it. He was gonna get fixed. They didn’t do it. I asked to be moved to another room. They told me to pack my bags this was on day too, and they would move my items. To another room.
When I got back at the end of the day, nobody knew what was going on and the status very rude. They made us feel very uncomfortable as if it was our fault the room we were in should’ve never been booked because everything was falling apart and bathroom smell like a sewer shower door was broken. We took a shower all the water with pee all over the place.
Made us stay very uncomfortable. The cleaning crew is excellent the receptionist they were very rude.
- John (10/5): Good budget hotel - Everything was as you would expect it to be. Breakfast service was excellent, the bed was comfortable and the shower was decent. Cleaning staff did a great job.
I did report a minor issue with the plug not working but other than that it was absolutely fine.
- Thaer (6/5): - Breakfast was excellent
- Jean (4/5): - El hotel esta en buena ubicacion pero hay mucha ruido en la noche , voces de gente
- Ricardo (2/5): - We booked a stay, tried to confirm a late checkin contacting the hoyel from expedia since two weeks before arrival, they never replied to messages or calls, we called the phone number they provided and we didnt get a replied after many attenptsx we looked them up on google and found an email, they never replied to that so we decided to book another hotel amd tried to get a reimburse, even expedia personnel confirmed that it was hard to contact the hotel and they tried to get the reimburse without success. Stay away from this hotel and look for better options they get a negative in cistomer service from even the simplest things like initial contact
- Carolyn (8/5): - The staff are friendly , breakfast is good. The only thing is the bathroom shower area is so tight in a corner n water supply is quite low.we wished we had a window that can be open. But overall its not too bad
- Rethna (8/5): - Hotel location is excellent. Near Firenze SMN station and all tourists attraction can be reached by walking. Small room size, no fridge/kettle in the room. Bed is comfortable but pillows are flat. Good breakfast.
- Darshdeep (2/5): - My whole room smelled like chemicals and had a severe headache every night when I woke up.
- Venessa A (8/5): - I was traveling alone so I didn't need much, and this was very convenient and easy. The breakfast was delicious, and the staff were helpful and friendly. My only complaint might be that the room had an odor that did not clear up the whole time I was there. I think this might be due to being in a very old building with old plumbing. I would definitely stay there again.
- MARY (2/5): - The room was so small the only place to open your luggage was on the bed. The only thing on the bed was sheets. The shower was so small you couldn’t even get shampoo on your head without being directly under the shower head.
The hallways and lobby stunk. The street was dirty, crowded and noisy.
RUN! Spend your money elsewhere!
- Susan (8/5): - The place is very close to the point of interest. Its walkable and you would not have a problem to find a place to eat. Its very close to Doumo, shopping area and supermarket.
- Stella (10/5): - My overall experience with Aurum Firenze was awesome. I really enjoyed my stay. The room was perfect. The hotel is located in a perfect spot. The staff were top tier☺️🤌 I would most definitely stay here again.
- Eduardo (8/5): - Nice little BUDGET hotel with no frills or luxury of any kind but staffed with lovely, friendly people who make you feel welcome. Convenient location close to train station and all the places you want to visit in Florence.
Small rooms but equipped with everything you need including a safe and a little fridge.
Only thing I missed and would like to have is a little table.
- Vilma (10/5): - Property is close to the station, clean, and the staff was friendly.
- YINGGANG (10/5): Great place to stay! - The hotel is located in a perfect location and is near to all attractions. The room is clean. The staffs are friendly. The breakfast is good too. I would love to have another stay if I visit Florence again in the future.
- heeman (8/5): - Convenient
- michelle (8/5): - Right near the attractions. Easy to get around
- Jesmin (2/5): - Expensive, smelly, bad attitude, bad breakfast. Almost no wifi availability. Room too small . We couldn’t even open our luggage, we had a terrible experience. Don’t come this hotel.
- ROY (10/5): - Satisfied with service
- Agnieszka Katarzyna (10/5): - Close to centre of Florence, room ok, clean
- Nilesh Prakash (6/5): - The room that we used for 5 nights was filthy.and dusty. The shower was very small, barely squeeze in. The interior was outdated with only one point to recharge phones and the cupboards were broken. The door to the room required force to open and close. Location is convenient close to transport.
- Omar (10/5): Great spot near the Train station - Great place to stay near the train station. A lot of food options nearby. We had great service during breakfast and Aida our room attendant was also great. Would stay again
- Bhavin (10/5): - .
- Anna (10/5): - Great location. Few minutes away from train station. Not so quiet. You could hear people from outside even the windows closed. If you are staying for a few days, it’s a great location.
- Leonora (4/5): - No wi-fi inside the room you have to go out of the room to access it. Room is pretty small. Shower room is really small. The place is nice because it’s close to transportation.
- Zach (8/5): - Air conditioner was excellent!!!
- Sanjeev (10/5): - Perfect stay for family
- Rodrigo de (10/5): - Hotel is well located but in a very busy street, HORRIBLE BREAKFAST SERVICE, but with a nice view
- Michelle (6/5): - Good location for city centre.
- Solomon (6/5): - Room and the bathroom are very congested
- Catherine (6/5): - Very small rooms and bathrooms. Breakfast and breakfast staff were awesome and on the top floor. Hotel room small and nothing special. Great location and quiet…but good luck getting out of a car with luggage.
- Ani (10/5): - Walking distance to all attractions and train station. Room little small but ok , loved the balcony for breakfast that was awesome. Very friendly staff.
- Sandra (10/5): - The property is very centrally located—just a short walk from the Duomo and the central train station, with easy access to the tram as well. I was pleasantly surprised by how convenient the location was. The staff were friendly, and the included breakfast was a nice way to start the day with a quick bite. The only suggestion I’d make is to provide a thicker blanket for added comfort.
- Rosa Maria (8/5): - The hotel is situated on busy street, it is walking distance from Santa Maria train station, the room was clean but small and the breakfast was average.
- Jaqueline (10/5): - The staff was amazing. Anoj helped so much getting tickets we needed. Beds cozy, room clean!
- Pui Lang (10/5): - It’s a great location. Most of the attractions are in the walking distance. The marketplace and the central train station are 5 minutes walking distance.
- Jeta (8/5): - The area outside was just a bit sketchy. But understand this is expected being close to a train station. Totally safe though
- NIRAV PRAVINKUMAR (10/5): - This is amazing little property, ran by a great staff. You have the overlook the small size of the rooms for the value. If you are there to walk around Florence and only there to relax and shower this is your place! The staff is kind and respectful, the WiFi is good, and since we were there in the summer we were thankful for the good air conditioning.
- Ben (8/5): - Great location, right near the train station, and all the other major attractions in Florence. Rooms are small but the air conditioning was great!
- Shikora (10/5): - I’ve had a wonderful stay at Autumn Hotel! It was very clean! The staff was amazing the room was perfect with a balcony you didn’t hear the busy noise from the street at night I will definitely book with them again! Thank you!
- ANNA (6/5): - The staff is very friendly.
- Ivonne (10/5): - clean
- Lucy (6/5): - Staff was great! Rooms are clean! Breakfast buffet limited however enough to start the day.
While the actual location is very convenient to train station, Duomo, Mercato, Markets the area it is a little "sketchy"
- Rebecca (10/5): Excellent for Traveling on a Budget - This hotel was in an excellent location, very close to the train station. Nothing fancy, but clean and comfortable. Inexpensive with a very nice breakfast included.
- Charlene (8/5): - great location close to the train station and public transport. Accessible with ramps and an elevator. Decent room size and property in good condition.
- Milgred (8/5): - Great location very close to the train station, but it can be busy at times. Walking distance to main attractions, shops and restaurants.
- shu hua (4/5): - The room smells terrible, wifi is not connected
- T8115QPcristinag (4/5): This hotel is not worth your money — avoid it. - I stayed here with my daughters and had a very bad experience. The room for four people was so small we couldn’t even open our suitcases. The air conditioning didn’t cool the room even after several hours. The furniture was in terrible condition, everything was dirty, there was a strong bad smell, and the bathroom had visible mold. It was simply not a place we could stay in.
The staff was friendly and did try to help by moving us to another room, but sadly, the second room was just as bad or worse. They made an effort, but the hotel overall is in very poor condition.
We ended up leaving and finding another hotel that same night. This place looks nothing like the photos, and I don’t understand how it has good reviews. The only positives: the staff was nice, and the area felt safe. But unfortunately, that’s not enough to make up for everything else.
Do not recommend.
- Hiram (2/5): - I booked a room for four people, and it was so small we couldn’t even open our suitcases. The air conditioning didn’t work even after hours, the furniture was falling apart, everything was dirty, there was a terrible smell, and there was mold in the bathroom. It was simply unbearable.
To their credit, the staff did try to help by moving us to another room — but unfortunately, the new room was just as bad, if not worse. They really tried to fix the situation, but the overall condition of the hotel is just unacceptable. My hisband and I had to leave with my daughters and book a different hotel the same night.
This place looks nothing like the photos, and I truly don’t understand how it has good reviews. Please, Avoid it.
- simone (10/5): - Friendly welcome.
- Angelo. (2/5): - It was horrible service
- Mark (8/5): - Excellent Location, friendly staff and good standard room
- R6983ATbeac (2/5): Left within 30 minutes - Stop now and look elsewhere. Pictures are bogus. One step above a "dive". Nothing but apologies...oof and on water due to maintenance.. poor AC, takes awhile...no internet, sorry.no room for any chair...flies in the hallway...poor noise control...couldn't check out, no staff on-site
- veronicarD9973HA (2/5): The worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had!! Avoid at all costs - Absolutely horrible experience. The bathroom was full of mold, the bed was dirty, and the walls were filthy and in desperate need of paint. I asked to switch rooms and was shown another that was even worse. When I requested a refund so I could go elsewhere, they refused. I had no choice but to book a second hotel, meaning I lost the money I paid here. The customer service was RUDE and unhelpful. Don’t believe the good reviews this place is disgusting! Do not stay here. Save your money and your sanity. Avoid this place completely!!
- Brad (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay.
- George (10/5): - Amazing
- Eleanor (2/5): - Only good thing was it was near train station and sights.
- Marc Antoniu (10/5): - Decent hotel near railway station, clean , friendly staff, good breakfast included. AC was a little limp, but worked. Good value for the $. Do not expect a ton of space, you get what you pay.
- Roy (8/5): - I arrived early and my room was ready which was quite welcome after a long train ride. The room was clean.
I saw another review about how small the shower is. Yes, it’s small but you can’t expect a car wash in one of these small hotels. I believe that Expedia gives the size of the room in sq. ft. That should provide a good indication of whether you can fit the Titanic in the shower.
My only comments are that a thicker blanket would have been nice. Even when it’s hot, a sheet sometimes is too little. Also that the internet access was intermittent. WiFi signal was strong but sometimes you just couldn’t get to anything but Google.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - If one is not there for a fancy hotel room, but for sightseeing, this is a great, clean, bare bones room. It is close to the train station. We were on the 5th floor and had a great view! Breakfast was also on the 5th floor. Close proximity to all the museums and Duomo, 20 minute walk or less to everything. We walked everywhere!
- Esther (10/5): - El hotel con excelente ubicación, mucho más de lo que esperaba. Excelente seguridad
- Cheryl (6/5): - The location was in the rougher side of Florence although in just a few blocks you were at SMN Doumo. The hotel was older and "rough." But we only needed a one night stay.
- mina (6/5): - The hotel is clean and located in downtown. Room is clean but ver tight. AC was not cooling enough.
- Samantha (10/5): - The staff was very helpful and accommodating. The room was clean and the AC worked great! Breakfast was good as well.
- Thu lap (8/5): - Friendly staff convenient location minutes to train station lot of restaurant and shop near by
- Luca (6/5): - Surely not a 4-star hotel!
- Scott (10/5): - Great location!
- Caterina (4/5): - I’ve stayed in a lot of accommodations, from shared hostels to 4 star hotels. This was the dirtiest one I’ve ever seen.
- Maria Elena Castillo Odena (10/5): - Breakfast is wonderful
Rooms are clean .
There is elevator
Location s perfect. Very near the train station and near main tourist attractions.
People at the front desk are very polite
- Juan (4/5): - Air conditioning was broken and it was never fixed, we also found three black spots on top of the mattress, bathroom did not smell that well and the location was terrible.
- Sergio (4/5): - This hotel is nice but is too small and the main enter is really bad, the good thing is near to the train station and the Main Street.
I requested handicap room and didn’t have it and they don’t tell me.
- Maria (6/5): - The receptionist are not helping and they aren’t kind either.
- Pamela (8/5): - Bare bones accommodations but good breakfast and friendly staff.
- Beth (10/5): - The room was clean, beds comfortable, and the breakfast was good.
- Shelley (10/5): - Great hotel in an excellent location...close to train station and city centre. Very walkable. Good breakfast with fabulous view.
- Firas (6/5): - Everything was generally good, except for the frequent issues with the WiFi. Most of the time, it didn’t work, and when I complained a few times to the lady at reception, her response was unprofessional—she acted as if it wasn’t a big deal and dismissed my concerns, ultimately leading to higher charges for rooming data.
I would recommend requesting a higher floor, as the first floor, where my room was located, is quite crowded and noisy due to the hotel’s location in a commercial area.
On a positive note, both gentlemen at the reception were very friendly and helpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Aurum April 2025 - The hotel is in a convenient location - close to museums and churches. Train station is close by.
The girl at front desk friendly and charming :)
- Iva (10/5): - Great large beds and so close to transport and shopping
- Teddy (8/5): - Closets is outdated. Should be improved and updated.
- Ashwini N (6/5): - location
- deborah (6/5): - Very small room, which was OK we weren’t in it very much however, I think the floors need to be cleaned more with water and soap. Great breakfast upstairs very nice staff.
- Fiachra (6/5): Clean but tired looking with unfriendly staff - The hotel was fine. The breakfast was okay and the room was clean. The staff (besides the cleaners and the nice lady who held on to our bags after check in) were not welcoming and I had to argue with one member of staff in order to get our shower drain unclogged. He kept asking why I didn't tell him about the clog earlier (i.e. that morning before I'd actually showered) instead of telling us when it would be fixed. The area it's in isn't great either, a lot of beggars and homeless. Check out time is also very early at 10am.
- Jacquelyn Carney (8/5): - Nice staff. Breakfast included. Good cleaning of room.. Staff wanted to help if you needed help. Close to city center and the train station. Lots of restaurants close. In
- Verified traveler (8/5): Cozy room near train station walkable to sights - Room was “cozy” sized. Didn’t have much room besides the bed to open up suitcases. Unit was on the street side on 4th floor and had a nice balcony. Free breakfast consisted of eggs, bacon, sliced meats/cheese, cereal, yoghurt, croissants, breads, and drinks. Wasn’t much but hit the spot for early outing on the town. Bathroom uses instant mini water heater so you can’t use hot water for too long before it runs out. Drain in the shower had a cover on it that prevented drainage unscrewed it and shower worked fine. Toilet was cramped into corner. Had a mini fridge in the closet but it wouldn’t get cold unless closet door was open to let out heat. AC worked even in April when it was in the 60s Fahrenheit but fan even at mac wasn’t very strong. Took over an hour to get room cool. Within 10 minute walk to the Statue of David and cathedral with Brunelleschi's dome. About a 25 min walk to Santa Croce, Ufizzi Gallery, or Ponte Vecchio. 2 min walk to the train station. Many food selections nearby and a small grocery store a block over.
- Salvatore (6/5): - Look - it's not a bad hotel, but it is a bit basic. And if that's what you want - it's perfect. I was on a strict budget so couldn't afford what the other hotels were charging for the Easter weekend.
For travellers who are intent on spending time exploring a city and use a room as purely a resting spot - this is a good budget option.
For those who want to spend time relaxing in the space - it's probably not for you.
Very few visible staff: just a receptionist to check you in, some cleaning staff and one person who prepares the breakfast. No gluten free options available.
It's a good budget hotel - that's why I've given it an average rating. It's not excellent, it's not terrible, it provides the basics for the budget conscious traveller.
- Michael (8/5): - Great location that is central to train station and lots of wonderful sites.
- Tracyyuanjun (6/5): Convenient location but small room - The hotel is an OK choice.
Pros 1) good location. Within walking distance of everything. We do not have to call taxi at all. We walked from the train station to the hotel in about 5 minutes. It is also close to all the tourist attractions. 2) we booked a room for four people and they gave us 2 rooms. We are glad we could have two separate room with its own bathroom. 3) breakfast is good. Service is good. Not crowded. Front desk asked us in advance when we will have breakfast to manage the crowd.
Cons 1) one of the room, the bathroom smells bad; 2) the rooms are extremely small . One of the bathroom can barely fit a person. All of us are small size so it is ok for us. But we could barely turn around. 3) city tax is Euro 7 per person per day which is expensive. They do not accept credit card for the city tax. 4) WiFi is bad. Poor connectivity.
- Charles (4/5): - So I had specifically chosen this hotel due to its proximity to the train station. Upon arrival we were told it our room was located in a complete separate location across the city. I had to pitch a fit to get the problem resolved. Even after that I feel we were put in a downgraded room because it was nothing as it was shown in the photos on Expedia. The breakfast was subpar and not enough was served in the room for all the guest that were present. I would steer clear of this place as the price is most definitely not worth what you pay for.
- Weina (10/5): - The location is great, close to the central railway station and less than 15 minute walk to major tourist attrations.
- Amber (8/5): - It’s in a very convenient area, clean, staff was very nice & breakfast had good selection.
The room is extremely small. We could barely fit the stroller in. It’s ok if you don’t plan on spending much time in the room.
- Pitenana (4/5): Not quite - The hotel has clearly seen its better days but today, not much good can be said about it except its location and very nice lady at the reception. The room is so tiny, you have to put luggage on the bed to open it. The bathroom shower is near useless - essentially, it's a bucket with holes through which scant lukewarm water pours down. The breakfast choices are limited and run out quickly, and ethnic music in the breakfast room was so loud, I had to explicitly request to tune it down. In short, avoid the place if you have a choice.
- Ricardo (10/5): - Prefect location, friendly staff
- Verified traveler (10/5): 3 night stay - Had a great 3 night stay for a work trip. Location is great only a few minutes walk from the station. Easy walk to most central attractions and restaurants. Room was clean and comfortable but very small, and the shower tiny! Everything functional but small! Double room was a good size for one person but would have been a squeeze for a couple. Breakfast options were limited but everything very tasty and good quality considering it is included in the room price. I would definitely recommend for a short stay for 1 person, any longer or more than 1 person in the room the small size might become annoying.
