Guest Reviews
- Eunice (6/5): - This is an okay hotel. Kinda booked it last minute so I didnt have much choice.
Pros: Near Penn station, which is very convenient (<10 minute walk). Price is not that expensive, tho could be lower based on how the property looks. Decent enough to sleep in. A/C is nice to have. Staff are nice as well.
Cons: Rooms are definitely not soundproofed, and since there’s a gap underneath the main door, you’ll hear people come back at 3am being very loud. Old hotel and conditions leave much to be desired. Property definitely needs updating. Toilet needs to be flushed in a specific method, else it wont flush properly. You need to pay if you want to leave your bags AFTER checkout (other hotels dont charge you for this), and they dont have a designated place for this (they put it just in the lobby, in front of the desk).
I would probably book another hotel in my next stay; but if this is the only one within the budget (in case i need to book last minute again), I’m not opposed to booking this place again.
- Sergio Andres (8/5): - Buen lugar en relación precio, calidad.
Cerca de todo , área segura . Práctico

- Maymay (8/5): - This hotel was a lot better than expected! I came to NYC for the Lady Gaga concert, and it was in the perfect location. It was only a 15-minute walk to the MSG, so that was perfect. The hotel was very clean and perfect for a one-night stay! The price. $400 for one night and two people was a little much. I understand that the hotel is right in the middle of Manhattan but that's a lot for one night. That is my only complaint.
- Rachel (8/5): Budget hotel, but comfy for an overnight stay. - Hotel was basic but very comfortable and clean. Continental breakfast included but offering was only bagel and toast. Would have preferred coffee making facilities in room. Staff very helpful. Lift was vey slow! Would have been quicker using the stairs but as husband is disabled didn’t have a choice.
Probably an over priced hotel for what is offered.
- Gianluca (7/5): -
- Brigit (9/5): - Clean and affordable Nothing
- Manno (8/5): For a budget stay that’s close to everything including port authority and moynihan this place is perfect. Very small r - Clean fast efficient great location n Slow elevator
- Asghar (5/5): -
- NICOLE (2/5): You get what you pay for. - The hotel room was grossly dirty - I did not want to sleep under the blankets. All the furniture was broken. The fire alarm was not there just wires hanging from the ceiling and the phone was actually not even connected so you couldn’t call 911 if you wanted to.
- Paul (6/5): - close proximity to train and food
area is under construction so was hard to locate
- Alzangana (1/5): -

- Maksat (10/5): - Very good
- Muhammad (6/5): Pleasant -
- Pavel (6/5): Small with cons, but great location. - Location
Coffee Maker
Water Filter
Wheelchair Accessibility Dirty room
Extra small (no way to move)
Noisy air conditioning (doesn't work properly)
No fresh air (hard to breathe)
Poor breakfast
Elevator jams
- Mahadev (10/5): Exceptional -
- Julie (6/5): - The room was clean enough but not the kind of hotel I’m used to. If you wanted to store your luggage on the day you leave you had to pay $10. More like a back packers hotel
- Emmett (10/5): Great Secluded Hotel - I love staying at this hotel whenever I need to stay overnight in NYC. It's close to restaurants, bars, and all transportation. The hotel is small, but it's quiet and very clean. The front desk staff is very nice and professional. I highly recommend the Hudson River Hotel.
- Victor (8/5): Very good -
- Linda (6/5): - Walking distance to lake george, shops & restaurants. The property itself is cute, pool is nice but they don't have pool towels. I stood in the little cabin its very nostalgic was pretty clean except for the bathroom there were cobwebs with carcasses in the corners & I think the start of mold on the ceilings. Staff wasn't the friendliest & the maid never came around had to go to the front desk to request fresh towels.
- Rivera (1/5): Bad -
- Ashley (10/5): - Great location and affordable for my stay
- Diana (2/5): - I had no tv. No working phone, and offered No compensation! I paid for a full service room
...UNACCEPTABLE!!!
- Margaret (2/5): - Toilets rocks when using.
Towel rack falling off.
Dead batteries in remote control. Ask for new remote I ask could I wait until the next day. Luckily I had AAA batteries in my purse.
Bathroom vent cover to small.
The room was too small.
No wash cloth given. Asked for wash clothes and was given dirty looking ones.
The floor was filthy.
This place really needs a total rehab.
- Derek (2/5): - Our bed was dirty (hair, stains, and blood stain on sheets). The guy at the front desk did not know how to handle this. I walked him through giving us another room which also ended up with a dirty bed (stain on sheets and hair on towel). Management did not care to fix issue since they did not reach out to me dispite being told by me, Orbitz, and the guy. Not proactive and could care less to fix issue. Complementary breakfast was slices of cold bread that the guy placed there with dirty hands (no gloves).
- Shunqueria (1/5): Area okay the room were nasty - It’s in the middle of everything literally They gave us A DIRTY ROOM WHEN MY DAUGHTER WENT TO TELL THEM THEY ONLY OFFERED CLEAN SET OF SHEETS AND NOT TO CLEAN THE ROOM THEY HOTEL PHONES DONT WORK AT ALL SO WE HAD TO HO FROM THE 10th floor all they way down nobody was in the front to check us in had to wait 20 minutes for someone to check us in it was terrible bn trying to contact someone to get some of ma money back haven’t heard from no one yet
- Rick (5/5): Passable -
- Jessie (10/5): Great place and great value - The staff was amazing
- Angela (4/5): Budget-friendly, but unfortunately not worth it. - It was a budget-friendly option with two beds close enough to where we needed to be. Front desk was nice and helpful. Room was definitely worn and floors were not very clean, it was clean enough fun to stay for our quick trip. The main reason I wouldn’t stay here again, is the smell of toxic cleaner. I literally went to the store to try to find an air purifier. The hotel smelled like it and the room was really bad, so much so that all my clothes smell like it even after flying home.
- Carlos (6/5): - Good experience
- Muhammad (6/5): Good location, poor hotel - It was near times square 15-20 mins walk at max and near 34th St subway station, good restaurants nearby, rooms were clean, free complimentary drinks and coffee and bread with butter The hotel in itself is bad, rooms and bed is very small like single bed size is double bed mentioned, lift was very slow and crappy and we paid $500 per night, no housekeeping and after 15hr flight and 24 hour travel, we put check in time but we had to wait 4 hours in lobby before getting a room 6 floors up without lifting working, then we paid extra for one more room and bought in 2nd floor even more expensive, better to take 20 mins subway and live in upper west or lower east area, or even Brooklyn which is 30 mins away in subway
- Firas (7/5): Good -
- Florent (4/5): Quality not matching the price - Very small double beds (around 120cm).
Shower tap not working or not working well on the two rooms we end up trying.
Quality of a budget hotel at almost 300$ per night. The good location cannot justify everything. Would not recommend it.
- Franco (7/5): Good -
- Mark (4/5): - Cost was the only advantage, small room, hallways full of trash bags, hard to locate due to construction, tough location
- Momodebe (8/5): Good for a quick business trip. - Loation is central and price is good per NY average. Easy access
- Anel (10/5): - Nice and clean
- Ellen G (8/5): A solid ‘good’ - Overall, very nice staff and a clean room with great pillows and water pressure. The host carried my bag down the steps to the front door, the front desk person was nice and I’m guessing it’s new. Not so positive: It’s a pretty spartan place in a construction zone on 36th. My tv remote didn’t work and don’t look out the window, not a view, but I felt safe, the room was clean and they had nice bath amenities. Wish breakfast had been set up. Bring your own food, didn’t seem to be anything nearby. Again, nothing unpleasant, just a solid good. I would return again, but would take a cab; it’s a haul from Penn.
- Katty (1/5): Disappointing experience due to poor conditions and double charges. - The location was convenient and close to major attractions in New York. The room was very dusty, the shower didn’t work properly, and the towels caused skin irritation. The entrance to the hotel was extremely difficult to access. Overall, the conditions were far below expectations. We were also charged twice: once at the hotel and once through the Booking app.
- Jonathan Lee (2/5): Worst Hotel Experience Ever - I wish I could give this place zero stars, but the lowest I’m allowed is one. I honestly don’t trust the reviews on here because I don’t see how this place gets anything above a 6/10.
When I checked into the room, the thermostat was set to 86 degrees. The front desk told me to “just wait for it to cool down.” Eventually, the thermostat read 60, but we were still sweating—the AC clearly wasn’t working properly.
Then it got worse. As I was getting ready to walk out, my wife screamed because two caterpillar-like bugs crawled out from under the bed. When I told the manager, he flat-out called me a liar and said their rooms were clean. No apology. No room change offered. Nothing.
At that point, we packed up and left. And despite all this, they still charged us for one night.
Do yourself a favor—skip this place.
- Anonymous (5/5): Passable - No one would help with fire alarm going off. Truly handed us a battery to fix ourselves No tv
- Raj (8/5): - The staff is extremely friendly and supportive.
- Shama (10/5): - Solid and very clean
- Stephanie (8/5): - Staff was very friendly and the hotel was clean. The elevator didn’t work half the time we were there, so we had to take the stairs up to our 13th floor room a few times. Other than that, it was a great stay!
- rana (6/5): - Small rooms. Staff is nice. Bed is ok. Tried to leave my backpack for a few hours but they said they will charge 10 dollars for each bag. This was not good service
- Thomas (3/5): Poor - The was too small and unfortunately Problem with the TV 📺
- Rodino (10/5): - Great!
- Traci (7/5): Went for the Puerto Rican Day Parade - How close it was to Times Square
- Victor (10/5): - Very good service
- Zachary (8/5): - I liked the room lights and customer service.
- Rodge (6/5): - Room was very small for 2 double beds...overall it wasn't a bad stay
- James (4/5): Disappointing -
- Taisa (9/5): Very quiet up in the room. - Good price for the area.
Timy room but good storage area for our stuff. No eggs and sausage for breakfast, Just bread.
- Julia (8/5): perfect location, pleasant stay for brief visit to NYC - We had a very brief overnight visit to NYC and spent just few night hours in the hotel. Location was PERFECT for Hudson Yards and Midtown Manhattan for walking. Bonus: there are few parking garages in the area within 5 minutes walk that was very convenient especially parking in the middle of the night. There is nothing fancy about this hotel, the entrance into the hotel looked strange at first, but hotel entrance was opened 24x7, the stuff was very pleasant, room and bathroom were clean, shower worked well, linens and towels were clean, all the toiletries were provided. Will i stay there again if need to stay in Midtown? Definitely Yes if the prices stay the same as we booked at.
- Trae (2/5): - Staff is just not friendly
- Anonymous (3/5): Poor -
- Keith (7/5): Good -
- Orlando (4/5): - Elevator take to long, most of the time I used the stairs. You opened the sink and the pressure was so much that everything got wet.
- [Blank] (10/5): - It's a relatively large place. The single person room are actually quite nice. They're prepared really well and they look just as intended. The entrance to the place was a little difficult to find due to the fact that it only tells you what the place is from one side of the street. Only then can you actually tell that your in the right place. Overall, this place is nice and simple.
- Rose (6/5): - It was shabby but unexpectedly clean and quiet.
- Peter (8/5): - It's not fancy. And doesn't look like much from the outside. But it was perfectly serviceable for a place to sleep. Much better than I expected it to be, given the reasonable price.
- Moses (2/5): - Terrible hotel. Staff not friendly. Lift broke down. Had to walk up to 13 floor.
- Lindsay (2/5): - The elevator was broken, I had to carry my luggage up 12 flights of stairs. The staff was not accommodating, they wouldn't assist me and wouldn't even provide a few bottle of water. I was with my senior mother and using the stairs cause her a knee injury.
- Delfino (8/5): - Honest and clean, enough for a work trip!
- Naris (10/5): - Overall it was a good place to stay for a night. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. A little downside though- the room phone wasn’t working and was just there as part of the furniture; there was always a problem with the elevator and we had to use the stairs. Also, construction was going on right in front of the property and that made it even noisier and traffic was heavier. Hoping the next time we book things will be better.
- Adam (8/5): - Cosmetic issues, but clean and comfortable.
An easy walk from the Javits Center, this hotel appears dated and a bit beaten up (cracked tile in places, exterior covered in scaffolding, etc). That being said, despite the cosmetic damage to some surfaces in my room and to some of the common spaces, everything was clean. The room was comfortable with working AC, toiletries provided, and the people at the front desk were helpful with holding onto my bags before an after checkout. There are a lot of dining options nearby as well.
- Cynthia (2/5): - One of the worst stays ever! Do NOT, I repeat, DO NOT stay here. We arrived around 10 PM, only to be informed that the elevators were down. They assigned us a room on the 13th floor. Since we were leaving for a cruise the next morning, we had four large, heavy suitcases and three packed backpacks. I asked if they had a room on a lower floor, but they didn’t. When I inquired if someone could help us with our luggage, the response was no. We had no choice; there were no other options that late at night. We had to carry all of that up narrow stairs for 13 flights.
To make matters worse, housekeeping had left filthy, disgusting towels and sheets from other rooms in the stairwell. It turned into a dangerous obstacle course, and I almost fell several times. By the time we finally reached our room, we felt utterly exhausted, and sweat was pouring off us due to the lack of air conditioning in the stairwell. We even had to dodge other guests along the way. After the ordeal, we requested some sort of partial refund due to these issues, but they told us to contact Expedia. I did that, and while Expedia has been great, but after multiple attempts, the management at The Hudsonwill not respond to them. It seems all they care about is money; customer service is clearly not a priority for them. While the price may be lower, you truly get what you pay for. I strongly recommend paying a little extra and choosing a better hotel. You have been warned! Pictures will follow once I have wifi.
- Maria Rona (8/5): Good stay! - It was surprisingly a great stay for 1 night within downtown and it’s affordable! I just had trouble finding the hotel and it was raining when I arrived.
I turned the smoke alarm by my hot showers because I forgot to fully close the bathroom door.
- Loureiro (7/5): Good -
- Maria Karla (10/5): - Great location, the room was comfortable for family. It was all I need for my short family vacation trip to New York. This old building also offer free breakfast with really good coffee. The assistants were very nice and happy to help.
- Stefano (8/5): - Elevetor broke had to walk up to the eleventh floor in really hot weather not fun
- Pradeep (5/5): Better to stay in Queens or Brooklyn for same price - High room tariff. Very very small rooms. Narrow passage. Overall claustrophobic.
- Anna (2/5): - Had to leave same day. Disgusting
- Charlotte (4/5): - The staff was very kind, but the overall experience was terrible. For some reason, they had construction literally in front of the door to the hotel during the entire stay. I mean, there was literally a huge hole in the concrete, flush with the front door. One early morning, with no warning, they decided to test the fire alarms in the entire building for half an hour. Again, the staff were kind, but that was the only good aspect. I would not stay there again, especially for the rate.
- Michael (10/5): - It was pretty good for
- Irma (10/5): - The staff was very friendly and the Hotel was very clean. The rooms are small but clean and comfortable
- Abel (10/5): - Great! Gave us a view from the 14th floor. Really good bang for your buck. Got us a clean room 15 mins after booking.
- Lucresha (8/5): - It was a one night trip and it was good the hotel room was very clean and I like the fact that the hotel is close to all the shopping area
- Larry Patrick (6/5): - This hotel room was immaculate but the beds were too big for the room -view wasn’t good and furniture was 2nd hand and it showed lots of wear and tear but I have to say it was extremely clean and the staff was very kind and at least they had breakfast whereas the Emipre hotel didn’t but when the construction around the property finally goes away it’s a good choice -next to the high line and Hudson yards
- Emily (6/5): - The hotel was fine. We had to request new towels and to have housekeeping come through after the second day. Few amenities. The beds were comfortable.
- Nuno (5/5): Too expensive for the quality - The location is great. The staff was sometimes not present at the front desk. Rooms are really small. Overall, not enough quality for the price.
- Mari (10/5): Exceptional - This is the second time I stay there. The first time I stayed was in December 2024 and they were in the middle of making improvements to the facilities. This time, in June 2025, there were improvements to the lobby area. The rooms are clean and the space in the room is as expected for any lodging in New York City.
- Timica (2/5): - Great for the price! Definitely not a luxury hotel however, I was in NY for a few days to see Denzel Washington on Broadway and It suited my needs. I was impressed by how clean the property was, I really appreciate that! They offered a few breakfast options each morning and staff was awesome! I would definitely recommend, especially for a short trip!
- Helen (8/5): - It was good.Everyone was very helpful.
- Mayda (10/5): - Great service and very clean
- Robin (10/5): - Afforable, clean, comfortable and decent breakfast for the prices.
No complaints for the prices they charge
- Christopher (8/5): - The streets of NYC can be dubious. The facility was secure.
- Andrea Leticia (8/5): - La relación precio calidad es muy buena
- Claudia (6/5): - Place had exactly what was important to me. Comfortable bed and shower water pressure was great. Could’ve been cleaned better and the space was tiny.
- Marilyn (6/5): - All the places I want to see is very close
- Meshell (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tellez (5/5): Passable -
- Kalifha (1/5): Bad - Pillows were heaven and they let me stay until 12pm when I asked coz I came in but late. THE STAFF WAS VERY MFKN RUDE RUDE RUDE...THE CLEANER TOLD ME TO "GET OUT" WHEN I WAS PICKING UP MY BAGS AT 11:59AM AND THE MANAGER GUY TRIED TO GET MORE UPSET THAN ME .....THEY NEED HOME TRAINING!! 😔😔😔
- V.anonymous. (8/5): Very good - Everything was fine for the most part. TV channels were limited. Only the power and volume worked, but we couldn't change channels. All the towels that were hanging were damp. And the floor towel was left on top of the toilet seat lid, a little more than damp. Elevators are extremely slow.
