• Rosemary (10/5): Beautiful convenient location, comfortable, welcoming and good value for money. - From the moment of arrival it is clear that that staff are there to welcome and assist. Beautiful location by the lake and I had a room with a balcony and view. It is on the Macquarie University Campus so with easy access stairs I could navigate to the Conference location in the University and spend time in the library and it is in easy reach of the Shopping Centre and public transport. So comfortable and the restaurant has a great range of delicious foods including opportunity to have a Gelato dessert later in the evening. Oh and there are coffee facilities in the lobby available all day and night. Nothing

Our room was modern, clean, tastefully furnished and comfortable. The breakfast menu is comprehensive, and we enjoyed excellent service and delicious food. A special and sincere thank you to May at reception. May is a friendly, courteous, efficient, helpful and very charming young lady with a beautiful smile. Nothing is too much trouble for May, and she ensures her guests are well looked after. May made our stay at the Lakeside Hotel memorable.

Some days, not every day, the staff in the restaurant at breakfast need better training or much closer supervision. Have been known to disappear, bring you the wrong breakfast and show a lack of attention to detail. Also dealing with you while having a mobile phone to one ear is not a good look.

• Rinni1974 (8/5): March 2026 - I stayed here recently as I was visiting my niece who is studying at Macquarie Uni. Here are my thoughts. PROS: - Reasonably priced for the area. - Good location for Macquarie Uni and a short stroll to the Macquarie Centre. - Clean rooms that are nicely decorated. - Nice toiletries provided, bonus points that they are from an Indigenous company - Loved the antibacterial soap dispenser in the bathroom, so much nicer and more hygienic than other hotels that just provide a small bar of soap. - Friendly staff - Free parking was a huge bonus. CONS: - Restaurant not open on the weekends. I wish I had researched this before booking. The menus looked great but as the restaurant was closed and it was raining I chose to order Uber eats however I would have much preferred to be able to eat breakfast in a restaurant as opposed to at the desk in the room. - All rooms in the wing I stayed had doors that faced out onto the grounds (as opposed to facing onto enclosed corridors). Whilst I had no safety concerns during my stay, this might be something to consider if you get anxious when travelling solo. Overall I enjoyed my stay.

• Vivian (8/5): Good value for a comfortable stay. - The room was clean and comfortable, overlooking an open green space with various native birds visiting. The bed was very comfortable. Overall, good value for staying at this location. No breakfast available on Saturday or Sunday. No cutleries or eating utensils in the room. Limited parking directly at the front of the hotel. Need to walk a fair distance to get to the main carpark, which is not ideal in wet condition.

• Kerrie (7/5): Good but could have been better - Accommodation is great for the price and great location to commute by car to Sydney olympic park We were travelling with 4 teenage children. Our 3 rooms were booked in one booking , but when we arrived we had two rooms (101 and 103) with 102 allocated to someome else, and the third room was allocated much further away, and seemed to be allocated upon arrival. Not ideal and reception blamed booking.com, not their error. Given booking was made several months in advance I doubt it was the original booking at fault.

• Glenda (7/5): Happy to stay again! - Staff are great, 24 hour reception, espresso coffee is free in reception, location, being able to open the door and let fresh air in, grounds are peaceful. Bathroom could be cleaner, particularly in corners, bottom of shower screen and around metal floor fixtures. It has had a semi makeover but still just ok. Grout is coming away from the toilet base which in the small bathroom leaves a sandy grit on the floor.

• oldie99 (10/5): Anniversary to be remembered - After stuffing up our booking for a three night stay by selecting the dates in March and not February, we could not stay in the hotel for the first night as there were no vacancies but after explaining our situation to the manager and telling him that part of the reason for our trip was to celebrate our 54th wedding anniversary, we did get a room for the next two nights. On entering our room, we found a chilled bottle of Italian Prosecco, a tray of chocolate dipped strawberries and a lovely card from the hotel wishing us a great stay and congratulating us on our time together. The room was great, the songs from the waterbirds were magical and the location was just what we needed. We could not thank the staff enough and will definitely be staying here when next in Sydney.

• Mark (6/5): Disappointed as we used it as a stop over point on a Friday night when passing through Sydney via the motorway - The room was neat and clean The car park was 100m from the property. Reception advised that restaurant was not open that night but will be open for breakfast in the morning. No breakfast on weekends. Hardly good training centre for hospitality.
