You’re literally a short-intermediate walk away from most everything in the area. I walked down to Circular Quay from here, caught a ferry to Manly Beach, walked the coast there, and back without feeling exhausted (though I will say I’m in decent shape). Regardless, you won’t be disappointed with this classy accommodation! There was nothing not to like, honestly.

Rooms are a little on the small side so you do not want too much luggage but for a short stay this is of no consequence. Bathrooms are very clean and bright but they could do with a grab bar somewhere to help oldies make the big step into the shower/bath.

• Roger (7/5): - On entering the hotel, the overall impression is excellent. The reception, bar and restaurant are finished to a very high standard with high quality fixtures and fittings. The location is good for the CBD and a 20 minute walk from Circular Quays. Staff were friendly and courteous. The 2 rooms that I stayed in however were a little dated and the corridors were not maintained to the same high standards the the other areas are. One room had such a small bathroom that there was a sliding door installed. However the rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. Wifi and connection to the TV for streaming was problematic in the second room.

It may not be flashy or modern, but it is quaint and comfortable, and my favourite place to stay when I travel to Sydney for work. The location is perfect for public transport, including light rail and train (2 blocks away at Town Hall) and Gadagal metro (one block away). Everywhere is easily reached. While the rooms are on the small side, they still have everything you need - bed, desk, tea/coffee/fridge, and a bathroom with the best hot water I've found in a hotel. The staff are always welcoming and happy to assist with anything. Last time I stayed at the hotel and had breakfast there I had to ask for Vegemite. Not a big thing, but surprised I'd have to ask for it instead of it being a standard option alongside jam and butter.

• Irma (8/5): Great room, not so great bathroom - Lovely old building with an impressive lobby. The location was great, within walking distance of most important (touristy) parts of Sydney. The receptionist was also very kind and offered good advice on what to see and where to go. Really comfy beds. The continental breakfast (paid extra) was a bit of a letdown as there were very limited options to choose from. The bathroom door was just a sliding door which didn't close properly and provided virtually no privacy. Additionally, the shower was abysmal, with very low water pressure so that the water was closer to "dripping" than "running". Finding the right balance between scorching and freezing water was also a bit of a game. Big minus for an otherwise lovely hotel.

Loved the ambience of the hotel. The concierge was very helpful and polite. The dining room was lovely where we had a continental breakfast which was more than ample - very nice. That the restaurant wasn't opened for dinner . We also went down for 'happy hour' whilst I appreciate he was making a cocktail, there was no greeting or I'll be with you in a minute.... the feeling we got that he was ignoring us, so we took our business elsewhere.

Tiene una puerta de establo, que claramente es una reparación de muy mala calidad. La descripción dice que hay lavarropas en el cuarto y no es así. Hay un lavarropas al final del corredor, para uso común del piso. La atención en general es displicente y poco esmerada. Hicimos el reclamo pertinente por la puerta del baño y nos cambiaron a una habitación correcta, con baño cómodo, con su correspondiente puerta. Es un hotel antiguo, más viejo que antiguo.

• Tom (1/5): If you value customer care.. don’t stay here - Location I’m extremely disappointed with my experience at this hotel, particularly due to the treatment I received from Cindy at reception. When I arrived, my room was already ready, yet Cindy made a point of telling me she “didn’t need to” but had chosen to charge me $20 for early check-in. The way she said it felt less like a standard policy and more like a power trip. There was no attempt to be polite or accommodating—just a blunt, almost smug delivery that immediately made me feel unwelcome. What makes this even worse is that I had stayed at the same hotel just the week before for three days, and was returning for another two-day stay. You would expect at least a bit of courtesy or recognition for a repeat guest, but instead I was treated like an inconvenience. Cindy’s attitude was consistently dismissive and unnecessarily rude, turning what should have been a straightforward check-in into a frustrating experience. It’s baffling that someone in a front desk role—literally the face of the hotel—would treat guests this way. I won’t be returning, and I’d strongly suggest management take a serious look at how guests are being treated at reception

• Rebecca (10/5): Beautiful heritage building, very comfortable stay - The hotel is a stunning heritage building, and all the common spaces were beautiful and grand. The rooms were comfortable and had all you'd need. The location was great (though I wish I'd known that Google Maps' public transport directions to and from was a bit rubbish and Gadigal metro station was next door). All of the women staff were really nice. The food offerings were a little bit baffling. I was exhausted on my last day and would have had dinner at the hotel, but they only really do finger food and snacks at dinnertime, so had to stop somewhere on the way home. Later I thought I might pop in and see if they had any dessert (as not all of their menus seemed to be online) - but they had none whatsoever. It didn't seem like the finger food/snacks approach was working for them, given that when I wandered in to the Reagh Bar at 7.20pm on a Saturday the place was completely empty, and it would've been such a great space to have been able to have dinner in.

Why would I carry a physical CC when these days you can carry all your cards on your phone. Staff was rude and essentially refused to find another option. In the end had to use one of my wife's CC's which were linked to business accounts and we would rather not have used for a social reason. In this day and age this is woeful and I would not stay again
