Clyte Mensuroglu-Nunez (10/5): The perfect 1 night staycation - This hotel is luxury wrapped in quiet elegance. It was everything I was looking for in my one night stay cation with my husband. Every single person we encountered from the concierge desk to the elevator attendant, to room service and doorman, we were met with a smile and just warmth. The hotel was decorated beautifully for the holidays and our suite surpassed all expectations. Room service was world class from Cipriani's. Special thanks to Stefan and Jacqui for their attentiveness and sincere warmth in helping us. Looking forward to the next stay cation with you! The only thing was that even with being up on the 20th floor, you still heard the 'noise' of NYC. Other than that, it was a perfect night.

Vor der letzten Nacht bekam ich die Nachricht, dass ConEdison den Dampf für die Heizung des Hotels abstellt von 21.00 Uhr bis 07.00 Uhr.....das wurde schlussendlich 11.00 Uhr. Hotel kann nichts daran ändern....aber lästig war es. Bekam ohne Probleme late check out bis 12.00 Uhr. Was aber besser kann in einem solchen Fall.......nicht nur Entschuldigung des Hotels....sondern vielleicht eine Nette Geste wie.....wir kompensieren das mit 10% Ermässigung auf ihrer Zimmerrate oder Wiedergutmachung mit Flasche Wein. Für ein Hotel dieser Kategorie würde man das erwarten.

KSViaje (10/5): Start spreading the news about The Amazing Sherry-Netherland - My husband and I stayed in room 1204 for a week-long stay in NYC for our wedding anniversary. Russell at the front desk told us that it's the best room in the house in his opinion...and OMG I have to agree! This room provides an INCREDIBLE view of Central Park and its blooming trees, bushes, and flowers. The room was also perfectly sized for us with a very comfortable bed, lots of closet space, a huge bathroom, a nice wet bar area with coffee maker and fridge, and even a nice dressing area off the bathroom. The other areas of the hotel are also very sumptuous, including the murals in the lobby and what had to be the nicest elevator I've ever been on. The elevator operator (probably the first one I've seen in 30+ years) explained how the panels in the elevator came from one of the houses of the Vanderbilt family. It's worth taking pictures of, for sure. The Harry Cipriani restaurant on the ground floor also serves great food and has a beautiful wood-paneled interior that is elegant but still also bright and inviting, plus Sherry-Netherland visitors get a 20% discount. We also had wonderful service at the Belgium-based handbag brand Delveaux's boutique in the same building next to Harry Cipriani. We told the staff that this was our first visit to NYC, and they were all extremely gracious and helpful in providing dining and travel tips - everything from how to get around on the Subway to where to get great New York-style pizza nearby. The hotel is at the corner of 5th Avenue and 59th Street and the southeast corner of Central Park, so you can't get more centrally located to NYC sites, shopping, theaters and great restaurants. We were going to stay at the Plaza Hotel but noticed complaints on Tripadvisor from visitors who thought the Plaza did a bait-and-switch on their website showing full Central Park views on certain park view rooms that actually had largely obstructed views. We switched to The Sherry-Netherland as a result of those reviews and were very glad we did. I can say with confidence that the pictures of The Sherry-Netherland's room 1204 on their website are no bait-and-switch, and what you see is what you get. We would love to visit again sometime during the fall to see the gorgeous fall foliage and will absolutely plan to stay at The Sherry-Netherland room 1204. Start spreading the news...tell everyone you know that The Sherry-Netherland is THE place to stay in "The City That Never Sleeps."

Location: perfect - right on 5th Avenue overlooking central park, easy walk to shops/MoMa etc one way and Met the other. Building itself: lots character (not a given for NY) oozing faux-Renaissance charm at every opportunity. Staff: never anything but friendly and professional. Room: we really lucked out as due to a slight mix up we were upgraded from a suite to a corner apartment (room 405). It was huge, spotlessly clean, had everything we could possibly need (including plenty of adapters). Great views across to Central Park and down along 5th Avenue too. Breakfast: Cipriani's on the ground floor - great for tanking up for the day. The coffee and fresh OJ especially good. 20% off for hotel guests.

GrammaJ (10/5): Staying at The Sherry Feels Like Comng Home - We just returned from only our third stay at The Sherry Netherland, but vow to make it a twice a year habit. We have never felt more well cared for, had a more welcoming, comfortable and relaxing visit anywhere. The location is perfect for all of our favorite things. We travel for art, theatre, great dining, music and combinations thereof. All are to be found in abundance nearby. Our favorite City View Suite is beautifully furnished and the staff is as attentive, gracious, friendly and capable as we could possibly hope for, Why would we stay anywhere else?

Shaylawinebuyer (2/5): Deeply disappointed - I booked this for two nights for ease on my wedding day in Central Park. We didn’t receive a gift of dog treats for our dog, valet took 1.5 hrs to retrieve my car, breakfast service on my wedding day only provided 1 thermos of coffee when two was ordered and the quality of the meal was immensely poor. I reached out asking for the other coffee thermos ordered and it was never brought, along with the request for water bottles for my dog. I also set a reservation at Harry Cipriani for after the wedding with close friends and family and the experience left me absolutely speechless with how incredibly awful the service, punctuality, and accommodations were. They refused to accommodate my almost 80 year old disabled mother-in-law who is in a motorized wheelchair when the wedding party came 10 minutes early to the reservation. They made her drive back into the lobby and injure her feet in the process. The wait approached the table by saying, “what do you want to eat?,” without any prior greeting or acknowledgement that my husband and I were just married. He never checked on if there were any issues with the food and multiple members at the table had to reach out to other wait staff to ask for drinks. When receiving the bill, he was not sure if he billed us correctly with drinks and had a hard time communicating with us. He also failed to give us 20% off the bill, even though we mentioned we were staying at the hotel. Also, when emailing prior to set the reservation, I mentioned multiple things, such as accommodations for a member of the party being disabled and I received only half a sentence back saying, “what is your phone number to confirm the reservation?” I promptly sent my phone number back and never received a phone call. I live in New York and have stayed at many Manhattan hotels. It horrifies me to say that I am deeply disappointed to have chosen this one on such a special occasion.
Chitin1234 (6/5): Not 5 Star - Will not stay here again. The staff are generally first rate except the doormen. Arrival was a hit or miss event whether someone would be there to assist. The elevator service with elevator men is quaint but very slow. There is no real lobby to meet people or wait, and the bar at Cipriani is pathetic. The room was nice but the bathroom was not 5 star, no matter how many Molton products you put in there. The walls are thin, you will hear your neighbors. Overall not a 5 star experience - maybe 3-4
David (10/5): Fabulous hotel and staff! - This is a luxurious hotel with impeccable and friendly service. We enjoyed the history and the great location, and we hope to return some day. Our only personal 'negative' is that although it's popular for hotels to use goose down duvets, we always remove them as they are too warm for our taste. We encourage providing a light blanket as a choice. Thanks for a wonderful vacation, one that will live long in our memories.

The property looks a bit tired for the exorbitant price to stay. Hotel seems old, cracking paint in corridors. At least one elevator always out for maintenance. Shower inside bath a bit cramped. Hotel could do with refurbishing. Very expensive for an old tired hotel however excellent location and staff.

Scareydolphin (9/5): Old style NY hotel but what a location - Everything - the room was excellent, the staff brilliant, location could not be better for what we wanted. Having such an excellent venue for breakfast/drinks/food next door was also great. All this and such a comfortable bed, and lots of amenities in the room. Please note its Art Deco or thereabouts, so some may call it old style - we arrived on the Queen Mary 2 so it fitted in with the style perfectly. It is pricy but then you have to look at location and history - if its good enough for David Bowie ... !! Other than that and a problem with the safe it was a great stay.

Perfectly located in Manhattan: Discover 5th Avenue, Central Park, the museums. The hotel staff was so friendly and attentive, you feel like beeing at home!

Tonya (8/5): Great stay but pricey for what you get - This is a cool historical hotel and the location right across the street from the park is fantastic. It’s a bit past its prime but the lingering grandeur from its heyday is still present here and there. Our room was very small and “interior” - which means we had a close up of the brick exterior of the building next door as the only view from our window. I gave 4 stars as the room and condition of the hotel did not quite match the price but perhaps it’s location location location. We also ordered room service for dinner and breakfast from Ciprianis and it was excellent (chicken was really great). We wouldn’t mind staying here again but would definitely try an alternative in the same location if the price was better.
Neal57 (10/5): As good as it gets - We’ve stayed at some great hotels and some not so great hotels. This was one of the great ones. Booking was painless and the final bill was 3 cents more than the quote we got a year previously. We didn’t quibble! It’s not cheap, but nowhere in NYC is. The staff were great - all the advice they offered was spot on. And they all could not have been more helpful. A cab to the airport? A local diner? Can we store your luggage? An early check in? If only all hotels were like this. They’re a great team who actually seemed to like working together, and take pride in looking after people. Hats off guys. I could send you plenty of staff from other hotels for you to teach! The SN is perfectly situated on 5th Avenue right on the south end of Central Park and opposite the Plaza. Everywhere we wanted to be was half an hours stroll - apart Yankee Stadium for a night game which included an authentic subway experience! It made for a very relaxing and enjoyable 5 days, even in a heatwave. We loved New York, and the New Yorkers we met were 100% lovely people. I mean REALLY really friendly and helpful. Such a surprise. And we felt completely safe. No question we’ll be back. One tip - go to the New York Public Library. It doesn’t feature much in the guide books and it’s definitely not one of the show attractions, but in their exhibition in the first 5 minutes there was the 1776 US Bill of Rights signed by John Adams, a Guttenberg Bible printed in 1455 (OMG), a Shakespeare First Folio printed in 1570, and the original Winnie the Pooh bear (which happened to be the twin of my own childhood bear which sits in my study). We were blown away………and that many a day. It was an epic trip. Thanks for everything NYC and the Sherry Netherland. Until the next time.

Our room was spacious, our bed was somewhat lumpy in places, however it was comfortable with air conditioning not being too stuffy. Nice amenities ( molten brown) bathroom was reasonably spacious. Very clean with fantastic shower. Good service from the ushers & manned lift attendants,
Emmanouil (9/5): Excellent location, fair pricing. Kind of dated building. Excellent staff. - Staff is pleasant and courteous. Location is excellent. View as well. Our suite was well appointed, pleasant and tastefully furnished. Bed is comfortable. Noisy air conditioning unit. There was no one at the business centre (on two occasions) to help with printing. Room service with limited hours, relying on Harry Cipriani - the ground floor restaurant that also acts like hotel restaurant. Street noise may be a little annoying at times ; sound insulation is clearly dated.
Richard (10/5): Just the prefect place to stay for a week in New York. We will return! - The location on 5th Av and 59th Street (Midtown, south east corner of Central Park) is just the best. The staff were exceptional and the room (1615) beautifully designed and quiet. We stayed 6 nights. The bed was really comfortable with quality linen and pillows. We also liked the Cipriani restaurant next door, which can be accessed through a door in the hotel lobby. We had breakfasts there and a lunch. Hotel guests get a 20% discount. It's a popular venue, so lunch/dinner reservations are recommended. Nothing - and I don't often say that!

We were shocked that there was no cleaning at all. After their cleaning we had pieces of food on the floor, rubbish, towels were dirty, bathroom was dirty as well. So you are literally checking into the dirty room after previous guests. Shock! The hotel is also being renovated, so all the upper floors are covered with a construction grid and you will not have any view. About which no one warns of course. The hotel itself very old, mattresses so old and has no shape, seems they don’t change them at all. The pillows are very not comfortable, for sure you can’t choose another. The furnitures so old and shabby. But of course, all of this is not as important as dirt, unsanitary conditions and lack of cleaning. Terrible hotel! Jayne (10/5): Exceptional - The whole experience was exceptional.From the moment you arrive you are cared for by such lovely friendy and caring staff. The painted ceilings are truely breathtaking and the lift interior is stunning. You are escorted in the lift every time you call it. The room. is huge and sumptous with everything you could possible need provided. This is a proper old school hotel and worth every penny. Im visually impaired and this was my first trip away in many years and they we fantastic at helping me whenever i asked. The attached restaurant which has been open since 1927 is wonderful from breakfast through to dinner. If im ever able to i would definatly stay here again. I would like to thank the housekeeping lady who was so kind and caring. There was nothing i didnt like.

Jayne (10/5): Exceptional - A truely unique and magical hotel wiyh so much history. The staff are amazing. Nothing is too much trouble. They know you by name. So frienfly snd helpful. The pictures dont do justice to the srtwork on the ceilings or the lifts. The room is amazingly appointed with everything and more that you could need. The beds are dupurbly comfortsbke. The hotel is at the top of 5 th ave opp central park so perfect. They sre very dog friendly too. If im able to return to NY it will be the only place i would stsy. The restaurant attached is supurb from breakfast through to dinner and evetything inbetween. I have no complaints at all.
