Guest Reviews
- DIANA (8/5): - LA HABITACION CON UNA BUENA VISTA MUY LINDA LIMPIA Y LOS DE LA RECEPCION MUY ATENTOS
- Fikrat (2/5): - That was the worse experience we have ever had.
- Vakhtang (2/5): - The building is very old. Front desk is not friendly. Room didn’t have hot water for 5 days. After 5 days they realized there is no hot water in the building and had to move us to different side of building.
Food was ok although not much of variety . The waitress Jazmin was very kind and polite.
Beach chairs aren’t available till 10am although people want to swim and enjoy beautiful weather. Even if there is no big waves and safe to swim the staff doesn’t let you into the sea till swim guard arrives at 10am!!! Terrible!!! I was traveling with kids and the best time is from 8am till 11 am to make sure it’s not too hot. Not all the beverages are available although we had all-inclusive package; but they had the be stages for purchase!!!
I travel to Cancun annually and never had such a disappointment.
- Daniele (8/5): - Solymar is a good option for those who are looking for something on a tight budget. The general cleanliness of the hotel is excellent, the rooms are comfortable and spacious. Food is good, don’t expect a 5 star restaurant, but it’s cozy and warm. The common areas like the pool, bars and restaurant are clean and well maintained. The best of this hotel for sure is the staff, always trying to make you feel special. We’ve noticed some things that were not as nice on the maintenance side of the hotel, parts of the ceiling falling from high heights and some of the bar top was missing. Other than that, we had a great time at Solymar. Will most likely come back in the future.
- Hadi (2/5): - Would not recommend. Reserved 2 rooms for the adults and kids. The two rooms were far apart. Both were dirty and one had no air conditioning. No towels and not enough bedding for everyone. Amenities closed before the advertised times. Access to the beach was closed off with a locked gates starting around 10pm. Would not recommend!
- Andrea (2/5): - Roaches, bad food, worse drinks, no clen sheets, no clean towels, no internet , no ATM, pretty bad and didn't get better.
- Sully Guillaume (6/5): - Drinking water is not always available.
- Yadhira Yael (4/5): - La recepcionista y meseros con pésima actitud de servicio, no hicieron la limpieza de la habitación ningún día se reportó y no nos informaron q se tenía que dejar la llave
- Ilda (4/5): - Property would have character if it was maintained. The service was not great for the amount you pay for. I would not recommend this to anyone if you are looking for an all inclusive stay.
- Jeneva (8/5): - Nice staff, quick check in and check out, beautiful beach.
- Maksym (6/5): - Nice beach. Not crowded. The hotel itself is older and need renovation. Stuff are friendly.
- Robert (8/5): - Clean
- Phuong (2/5): Worse customer service and dirty/old furniture - One of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at for the reason:
1. Over priced rooms with old, dirty, broken furniture - food crumbs from past renters
2. Customer service front desk were rude and not helpful
3. Charged me $15 for lost hotel door key which was a cheap white plastic cars with no hotel logo on it. Just a handwritten door number
4. Slow service at the bar - served me warm coconut water
5. Broken tiles throughout the compound- serious safety hazard
6. No coffee pot or basic toiletries
- Brittany (2/5): - No water available for free, fee for room card that was no explained at check in, cannot leave buffet with food, no drinks available after 11pm. Most staff don’t know English. Otherwise property clean and rooms are great size
- Bernadette (4/5): - Some more food options in the buffet would be nice, also the little guy who makes the hot dogs and hamburgers could be a bit more polite to anyone who doesn’t speak Spanish.
- Linda (8/5): - This hotel was quite a surprise, it was clean, comfortable, great AC, hot water, great location, on the beach, varied menu. Snacks drinks. You eat and drink from 7am to 11pm great choice for the price
- Liliana (2/5): - please do not stay here! horrible, old, dirty towels, not worth it!
- Michel (2/5): - This place is a Dump. Do not go there. I reserved 2 rooms. There was no internet in the rooms, tv in one of the rooms was damaged and no connection, on the 2nd room tv. There was no hot water in one of the rooms, rotten shwer heads in both rooms. I have videos and pictures to prove it. There was blood stains on both rooms bedding. Visible bed bugs.
(I have prove of it)The mattress was harder than the floor. Everything in that place was eather damaged, rotten or rusted. We end up checking out right away. Called expedia right on there while checking out and front desk staff did not care on giving a refund or giving any alternative. I have contacted Expedia to resolve this matter and the hotel management is evading the phone calls and not responding emails. I have called the Front desk, they are instructed to say there is no management on duty or management office on the property. So no refund 3 weeks after. This place should not be allow to operate at all. This hotel is a Scam. They have kept $1138.22 usd just like that. There is no other way to say it. SCAMMERS!!!
- Lorena (2/5): - Pocas veces dejan toallas no cambian los camas la comida salada y no hay variedad siempre lo mismo
- Jessica (8/5): - I likenthe beach and the food. I dont like the facility conditions
- Jefferson Pizoni (2/5): - Everything in that hotel is bad, it's crap, nothing good. Everything is old, everything is falling apart, people treat you badly, it's all. Including the fact that they want to charge you even for the water to drink that we charge.
- David (6/5): - La comida muy rica, sin embargo los cuartos dejan mucho que desear en cuanto a limpieza, los bares muy bien, también la alberca, el staff fue amable siempre
- Maria (2/5): - The customer service is poor,as well as the food
- Rafiah (4/5): - There needs to be more staff at this place.
Also, the hotel amenities are not called out appropriately upon arrival.
This place has potential it needs more customer support services along with clear instructions other than a 1 paver that doesn’t have everything called out about service.
The two guys that are always there( Javier and the receptionist at night are great).
- Elena (2/5): - The place is in unbelievably bad shape. Everything in the room was falling apart and dirty. The food was not good at all. I don't recommend this hotel.
- Kyle (2/5): - Horrible resort! Filthy. Roaches in room. Out of date. Food sucked. They ran out of liqour like tequila...a Mexican resort ran out of tequila. Thats ridiculous. Plus it was an "all inclusive " resort but they didnt provide any bottles of water. The staff never explained anything! The pool bar closed so early or never opened. The Buffet had barely any food and what they had was pretty disgusting. Overall DONT GO TO SOLYMAR
- Tammy (8/5): - Staff was fantastic! Went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable
- Cesar Edgar (2/5): - all the workers had bad attitude. we booked an all inclusive room and it showed we didnt when we got there to get our room key. we had proof and shlwed yhem and they still didnt give us our bracelet . one of the work member said we had breakfast included so when we went to get our braclets they said that wasnt included either. overall we got not help. make sure you double check what you get because in the post it say ALL INCLUSIVE and when we got there it wasnt. i asked for someone to sweep the room in the am and we got back in the pm the room was still dirty. they then later brang me the broom for ME to sweep. do NOT recommend
- Mario Enzo (2/5): - Spend some more money and go to newer or best hotel. The buffet is a joke, drinks are very limited. Rooms are old and not very well maintained (leaking water). The recepcionist looks like he is not happy with his job and we are there to waste his time. I mean it's OK if you pay no more than $100 per day (which is not the case). First experience with Expedia and probably is the last one if the hotels that they sell are like this
- Eduardo (6/5): - The staff was very friendly, helpful, and professional. The property seemed a bit rundown and desperately needing some upgrades, but even without the upgrades there were stains on the walls, missing handles on the balcony door, no hand towels or bath mat.
A very nice quiet spot on the beach but lacking these few things made it a tad more than just inconvenient.
The buffet menu was mediocre at best and kind of regret having paid for the all inclusive deal as I ended up eating out most of the time.
- Timothy (2/5): - Didnt like my stay
- Alma A (4/5): - I will run out of time but I’ll start with this part.
- Gregory (6/5): - Several areas of the property needed maintenance and it would have been really nice if the poolside bar was operating. Other than that, our room was very clean and the staff was super helpful.
- Troy (2/5): - Don't do it. If we did it over again, I would pay a little extra to stay somewhere a little nicer. Buffet food wasn't the greatest, pool was fine, beach was great, and beach bar was awesome. Hotel it self was very run down. There was a constant smell that wouldn't go away when you are by the pool/pool bar. And what ever you do, don't go into the bathrooms by the pool (ugh).
The staff here are great and were very friendly. It's not their fault the hotel needs a complete redo!
Location of the hotel is good, and wasn't to far away from shops/restuarants, about a 10min bus ride.
- Cesar Antonio (10/5): - All was perfect
- Cirenia (2/5): - We did not like the hotel, it needs a lot of work. We actually left the next day and no one offered a refund. We were not able to sleep due to a lot of noise, bathroom did not have shower curtain, water everywhere. We had to ask for towels, blankets and pillows. It was wasted of the money and time. The location is nice
- Kyra (2/5): - We paid for all inclusive when we booked. Didn’t get all inclusive even though we were willing to pay the Expedia pricing for it again. Spend 2 weeks being passed between the hotel and Expedia to try to sort it out only to have both sides pointing fingers and each other. Our room was mouldy so I was sick most the trip. Hallways reeked like cigarettes. We weren’t given towels from the start. The few we got were stained and gross. If we asked for new towels they said 30 min and then didn’t give anything until 3 days later. The only amenities in the room are shampoo, toilet paper and body soap. Nothing else. Fridge was ripped out. No coffee. The sink was rusty. Toothpaste stains on the counter from the previous guests. Only one sheet on the bed. No blankets or anything. The buffet food wasn’t great, pretty basic.
- Fernando (2/5): - Found cockroaches in the bathroom and in the hallways. Terrible experience.
- Michael (8/5): - Just few things not preferred is…:
Hotel did not have or offer any top blankets or covers on beds, had limited clean sheets and towels which we had to regularly request and self serve get our own few fresh linens and towels, and we had to ask for couple more bed pillows needed. They also did not offer and we did not have any small hotel room refrigerators or anywhere to keep small food and drink items cold and fresh. In addition to that they don’t ever have a place to just get some ice to keep things cool cold, only place is you must purchase your own at convenience store and even then back at room have no place to keep it frozen due to having no small refrigerator or freezer in room. Not as important and optionally would been nice to have, you don’t get a small room microwave to warm or freshen snacks up in rooms either. The small room locker safe also didn’t seem too secure had to pay for. Preferred…: Most overall satisfactory resort, with positive nice experience enjoyed.
- Dynasty Deann (6/5): - It is the little things that knocked them down. Not having towels for hours. A toilet seat and shower curtain that were too short. A faucet knob that didn't work and a TV that was circa 2005. Unfixed holes in the walls and little mold spots.
It was clean and the room was decent. The staff were also very accommodation.
- Angela (4/5): - The lady at the front desk and some of the staff were rude and unhelpful.
The all inclusive drinks were not good and the tequila tasted like rubbing alcohol. The food was edible but not good either. But if you only want a bed and AC, it will work. I wouldn’t stay here again.
- Olga (2/5): - Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Room was dirty, TV didn’t work. Management was awful.
- Brent Mitchell (6/5): - This was an ok place to stay on a budget. Staff was friendly and helpful most of the time. The food was sub par. They have buffet style food and most of the time the hot food was cold. I probably wouldn’t stay here again solely because of the food.
- Robert (10/5): - Small and quiet. Friendly staff.
- Pablo (10/5): - Nice and affordable
- Christian Joaquin (4/5): - Cockroaches and unhelpful employees
- Vincent (6/5): - To many stairs. It was supposed to be all inclusive but my reservation got screwed up and management would not make it right. The room I reserved was leaking water and got put n a smaller room at no reduced rate if I can hep it I will not stay there again.
- Roop (2/5): - The Room what expedia mention online was not available, hotel staff said expedia always lie and you will get very basic rooms, no hot water and coffee machine, no iron, no kitchen, not even towel and toilet paper, if you ask for anything staff said talk to Expedia, you don’t have anything included.it’s better to book directly with hotel, Expedia lies
- Rolando (2/5): - Worst thing in my entire stay was when I saw the so called owner staring at everyone at pool from her balcony entire day, ones I took a drink on plastic cup “out of the bar that’s inside of the pool” and lady came down and screamed yes literally screamed at me from one side of the pool to the other YOU CANT EST OR DRINK INSIDE OF MY POOL!! What don’t you understand!! so I told her if there was a sign then I would have not done it. But she doesn’t know how to control her anger or treat her clients avoid that old lady from 5th floor at all times Very Rude and disrespectful.
- K P Kamani KUMARI (2/5): - our room has moldy and feels like chocking. overall property is not in good condition. I do not recomend for families who looks for safe clean place to spend vacation.
- Valdev (2/5): - First i was put into Room 1210 it was dirty with smell of mildew there was mildew in the washroom.
Then I got transferred to Ocean view room the next no taps were working i complained to
Abel he was excellent and said he will get in touch with plumbing. It was not his fault its the owners responsibility to make sure Maintaince us up to date. Abel was not at fault in anyway
- DELMER HILDEBRANDO (10/5): - Ok
- Rafael (2/5): - Broken everything , under construction. No food , smells like cigarettes
- Farman (2/5): - Expedia sold me the booking as all-inclusive resort with pools and beaches instead it was a construction zone and Expedia and the resort hasn’t refund me and will not even allow me reach customer service based in US. Ruined my vacation especially because expedia like to scam you for the money. Sells you one thing and gives you another and then customer representatives who are located in developing countries will keep you waiting for hours then hang up on you. Basically telling you to F*** Off. One word for Expedia is they are a bunch of SCAMMERS.
- Ocean (2/5): - Under construction and noisy
- Svetlana (10/5): - The hotel is conveniently located, nearly to the airport, a wonderful beach bar with delicious cocktails and burgers. Good room cleaning and nice staff. Of the minuses - there was no fruit for lunch and dinner
- Leanne (2/5): - I hate to complain but…When we checked in our room. The beds had no blankets on the beds, so we went to get blankets for 2 beds & they only had 1 blanket available. Said come back in the morning when more would be available.
They say to lock your stuff up in the safe but our safe was broken, so they put another locking safe on top of the bolted safe. Which would be fine but someone could just take that safe because it wasn’t bolted to anything.
It is not a resort what so ever. It is a small hotel with a tiny building where the food is cooked & not much of a variety. They do not even provide toast for breakfast which was very disappointing for us.
Our shower stall didn’t drain so only one could shower & then we had to wait 2 hours for it to drain. Toilet seat was broken, just about fell on the floor a couple of times.
Large spots of black mould under the window.
The on & only positive was the beach was absolutely amazing.
- Nancy (8/5): - Polite staff, beautiful view but very old buiding.
- Kerith (2/5): - Do not go. The property was beautiful but our room smelled of mold. The pools were both out of order when we arrived and the owner/manager would not refund us or let us have our money for the un-used days to let us go to a hotel that had a pool. The food was delicious but there is only one restaurant that is part of the all-inclusive. The all-inclusive doesn’t included bottled beverages of any sort. The beer on tap is warm and disgusting. I am told they have beautiful condos that overlook the ocean. The beach was nice but rough while we were there and there’s not enough chairs. The regulars and owners are very nice and accommodating. If you go do not get an all inclusive package or be okay with one restaurant and well drinks. Very good authentic food.
- Victor (4/5): - This property shows lack of maintenance plan, because many areas are not in properly state including the room
- JAYANTHA (10/5): - The wash room wasn't cleaned when we came. It was full of leaves inside the toilet. Linens were not changed in all 3 nights. When raining water flowing to the room from the bottom of the sliding door. There wasn't any light to the mirror and it was fully dark.
- Rockin' (4/5): - BEWARE! Our room was broken into. Be mindful when staying here and lock all of your stuff up or carry it with you. Generally this would have been a better review except for the break in and the lack of response or acknowledgement from the hotel staff and the security personnel seemed to just delay and probably were hoping we would "forget about it." We lost all of our cash (around $600 USD worth) and our stay here was disappointing because of the break in on our second of 6 nights there. It made it hard to trust anyone and we felt trapped there and having to sleep at night with one eye open was no fun either. Otherwise this trip would have been fine. The buffet food was good and the beach of course was awesome.
- Priya (2/5): - Terrible hotel that calls itself a resort. It’s falling apart. There were flies in the room. No Microwave, no refrigerator. Had to ASK for blankets. Towels were all torn up in threads. No beach towels.
Also, NO LOCK ON THE BATHROOM DOOR. Extremely rude and unhelpful hotel staff- especially people working at the front desk. Literally choose any hotel in the hotel zone expect this one. You may spend a bit extra but you’ll get at least 3-4 times better experience. Don’t stay at this piece of crap.
- Lizet (6/5): - I usually don’t rate any area that I go to but I had to rate this one and I had to give my honest review the location was good it’s really close to a lot of stores, other hotels, etc. but the staff was not the best. Everyone was nice but there are specific people that are homophobic and I was not really able to enjoy my stay because the specific person would stare at me and give me dirty looks.
This person is in charge of the snack so it’s not some thing that you can just ignore because you physically have to give her order. I remember the first day that I got there. I said hello and I asked oh can I have a hotdog with fries and she literally looked at me up and down and she said OK we waited 45 minutes after everybody got their food I went up to her and I said I know you’re kind of busy but do you want to give me an estimate on when I’m going to be receiving my food, she looked at me and she said what food and I said with the hotdogs and fries and she’s like well. I’m on it right now and I waited 30 minutes after and I asked her again and she rolled her eyes and she looked at me and she said it’s coming so I was very upset. I went to the front desk and I told them all about it. They said that they were going to “handle it” and they never did that’s the only person that made me feel very uncomfortable when I stayed there i am part of the LGBTQ don’t recommend it here she was very welcoming, and she made me feel very awkward. Every single time I had to come get food.
- Radoslav (6/5): - Good location and perfect beach. But the cleanliness is poor, the food not good enough and they'll never sort your problem. My friend went wet because whoever cleaned the lobby windows throw full bucket of dirty water on top of her. The explanation was that the cleaning company is different and noone can even apologise
- angelica (8/5): - No wifi which I think it is necessary
- Jorge (6/5): - I would like more options for food and the bathroom needs improvements
- Ilse Carolina (2/5): - This Property was so dirty, bathrooms mirrors, faucets, were opaque from all time not been cleaned. Roaches around. Room had mold smell. This properly is been sold as all inclusive RESORT but its really just a hitel. Pictures are nothing like what yousee when you get there. Sodas and bottle waters are sold so its not included. Food is so poor. I will not go back there or believed in the vacations expedia sells. Because when i called expedia they did help at all.
- Jose Antonio (2/5): - Everything was bad, from the infrastructure it self to the no towels or toiletries in the room, nasty sheets. Limited food and reheated the next day. Below below below anything we’ve experienced before. Please please stay somewhere else. There’s no price to feeling safe on vacation.
- Jorge (6/5): - Overall ok but could be way better due to the location
- John D De La (2/5): - Nothing.
No wifi, no towels, sporadic room cleaning, too noisy with lots of children. Pool was too crowded. Hotel personnel were grumpy at best. Seemed that they didn't like americans much.
- Sanmattie Sukhram (6/5): - The meat served at the bar By the beach wasn’t real!
The swimup bar at the pool is out of order, if you wanted something to drink you have to go all the way to the beach!
My room was never cleaned for 5 days only the beds were made!
- Michel R (4/5): - This property is in serious need of renovation. It is old, and outdated. They have 1 restaurant, 1 “snack bar” and 1 “bar for drinks”. The restaurant is buffet only and although the food was ok, the presentation and variety was horrible. They have a swim up bar but it was not open and didn’t appear to be functional.
- Robert (4/5): - Didn't like that the manager told me and my friend there were cameras everywhere yet there were none. He also wouldn't let my friend walk into my room unless he paid $40 extra. Showers did not have warm water. The outlets were hanging out of the walls. This hotel is bare-bones, a safe place to sleep. Not much else other than easy access to the beach and bar. Also, nothing too great. Just good enough
- Jeanine (2/5): - The property had no wifi. The food was awful. I have never written a bad review for anything but this was BAD!
- Aleksandr (2/5): - At the hotel, when l went to breakfast, they stole 2000 $ from my room. It happened on 06.06.2022.
- Michael (10/5): - Clean and quiet
- Rubi (8/5): - Staff were nice and helpful and the food was great
- Kimberly Stephanie (2/5): - Roaches, dirty pool, rude staff, horrible customer service.
- LETICIA D (4/5): - El personal es amigable, pero las condiciones del edificio son incomodas duenos o gerentes inviertan para mejoras. !!!!!
- Igor (6/5): - I don't like to write negative but... Solymar is old, neglected, very dirty place. Everything greasy and filthy especially their buffet and bar on the beach. Bartenders use same single use plastic cups (just washing them in front of you without hesitation) Pool looks like a dirty dish with soup. They were doing drywall repair works in hallways during the day right in front of customers walking with kinds, breathing the dust and walking over debris... I can continue, but make it short - I wont stay there again even for free.
- Rodrigo Javier Amador (10/5): - Have more options in menu
- Melissa G. (8/5): Beautiful place - Friendly staff. Good food. Nice views
- Raymundo (8/5): - Quite, friendly
- doug C (8/5): - very quiet and relaxing....laid back feel. i wish the pool swim up bar would have been open but otherwise the place is a great option if you are not looking for an expensive all inclusive with a lot of people and noise.
- Marija (6/5): - It was ok
- Kathleen (4/5): - The resort is very old and needs repair
The food was terrible and extremely expensive
- Bryan D. (8/5): - I would have liked that the pool bar was open. You had to walk to the beach to get a drink. Also the rooms do not have WiFi. Only the lobby.
- Nazmije (2/5): - Poor Service, poor food and most important no internet connection!
- ROBERTO (4/5): - Están muy viejas y abandonadas las instalaciones, no sirvió la TV, no hay botellas de agua en las a habitaciones
- Miriam (6/5): - The location and cleanliness of the hotel was a great 10 but the hotel is very outdated and pools looked dirty due to the outdated color. Food was not the best either. Very limited on food and drinks for all inclusive. It looked like we were being fed frozen dinner meals. The staff at the restaurant and bar also need more training. Not very friendly. Resort has great potential but needs alot of work.
- Isabel (2/5): - Tienen una pésima atención, no hay wifi en los cuartos , Lis alimentos estaban pasados no hay variedad . No vinieron a limpiar el cuarto.
- Boris (2/5): - They have no beach, food is terrible and almost no options.
- Ali (2/5): - Only location is nice or else nothing is great , staff is terrible and grumpy rooms don't have wifi , microwave , refrigerator, bathroom doors don't have locks. We don't like the property.
- Rocio (4/5): - The place is old. The beds and the shower are old.
- Floriberto (4/5): - Nothing exciting
- Umair (6/5): - Overall good experience but back elevator was out of order for few days. Had to carry stroller up and down 15 steps at least 6-8 times. Hotel is a bit far from restaurants and other activities. Resort is good however.
