- abbysG6422BV (10/5): Great 5 day stay !! - We had an amazing stay at The Royal Sands, and the pool bar service was great! A special shout out to Manuel at the pool bar — he was incredibly friendly and always made us feel welcome. What really stood out was that Manuel always remembered our drinks and always had a big smile on his face ! His great attitude and service made our vacation even better. I hope that him and all the hard working staff get recognized for doing such an awesome job! Also, as a younger couple, this resort was definitely chill & relaxing but also a great place to meet other people! We found there was lots of areas to lounge and the beach was 10/10.
- Ashley (1/5): Avoid at all costs!!! - Avoid at all costs this is a cheap time share complex pretending to be a hotel and ripping customers off Terrible customer care. We asked to leave early as to not ruin our summer holiday, we even offered to stay part of the time and leave for the other part as a compromise but the hotel refused and made us suffer a full stay there. Massively over priced for being such a dump. There’s nothing around it so you are forced to stay in the hotel and there is nothing going on there in the evenings either, the only bar shuts at 11pm Honestly disgusted with how we were treated by the hotel staff when requesting to leave. Nothing but bad things to say, please avoid as there are much nicer hotels just along the road for half the price that are actual hotels and not time share apartments. Oh and my partner found an elastic band in her food while eating dinner! Disgusting.

- Sherrie (9/5): Love the Ocean Front View - Best Vacation Yet! - Beautiful views, palm trees, landscaping, plants, flowers. Felt safe every where we went; security & staff at all locations. Restaurant & mini bars limited hours, room service took anywhere from 30 mins to 1 1/2 hours depending on the time; so someone must be in the room during that time. Domestic beer was not included in the all-inclusive & it was very expensive at the resort market. Requested a few items for the room prior to arrival & didn’t receive them until after several additional requests after arrival on 3rd day in the room.

- 5280ET (10/5): Great at its price point - We had a really good stay at Royal Sands overall. The location is excellent, the beach is beautiful, the pools are a big plus, and the grounds are very well kept. Our room was clean and clearly cared for, and the kids’ club was a standout. The teachers were great and made it easy to feel comfortable leaving the kids there. The water park was also really great. The resort also felt like a solid value for the price. Like many all-inclusive resorts, the food was fine but not the main reason to go. That said, the experience was mostly positive and family-friendly, and we’d be happy to return. The only real downsides were some maintenance issues. The fridge made an obnoxious screeching noise, and it didn’t get fixed on the initial call and I had to call a second time. We also noticed the main CO and smoke detector had no battery in it, which was concerning and should have been caught sooner. Overall, Royal Sands is a strong choice if you want a clean, well-kept beachfront resort with good pools, a great kids’ club, and decent value. (My final star rating is based on comparable properties. We paid $1,100 for 4 nights of an all inclusive, and this was a 5 star experience for that cost.)
- Excursion298993 (2/5): Not happy - We stayed at the sister hotel and came here on our last day just to use the water park for kids. It was closed, we had to take my disappointed son back to the other hotel, wasted an hour on this and had to pay for a Taxi back. We couldn't stay to use the pool because all the chairs are already reserved. Staff is also not friendly at all.

- tripreviewer1957 (10/5): One of the best Holiday Inn Vacation Resorts - We've been Holiday Inn Vacation Resort owners for 10 years but this was our first visit to this location since they only recently acquired it. I wasn't honestly sure what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised! It is one of the nicest resorts of all the ones we've been to. The location is perfect - and the layout of the resort makes it feel as though you are the only hotel on hotel row (and there are A LOT of them). The units are extremely clean - although a little bit dated in terms of decor. The bathrooms could use updating as well, but are perfectly fine. The kitchen is a good size and very adequately equipped. I also think this was the cleanest location in all. The service personnel go out of their way to make you feel welcome and are eager to address any questions you have. Our room attendant Marisol de la Cruz was fabulous. The pool, spa and workout facilities are all top notch. We used them all during our 1 week stay. If I had one thing to ding them on, it was the lack of a washer/dryer in the room. I had read online that these were included in the units. However, when we got there, we were told no, but that there were laundry facilities on the site. Somewhat disappointing. But not enough to take away from the overall experience. There are some good dining options on/near the resort - the Bistro and the Hacienda Sisal are tops. Two other restaurants within walkable distance were excellent: Puerto Madero (we went twice!), and El Fish Fratanga. Absolutely include those on your list while in Cancun. One of the concerns I had before going pertained to safety. We walked at night to and from restaurants, walked to the mall and banks (for ATM), and never felt unsafe. So don't let that be something to prevent you from going. We had invited friends to join us (we reserved a 2 bedroom lock-off), but they were reluctant to go due to this issue. While I understood their concerns before the trip, I can honestly say it was not an issue at all. One note on outside activities: we took the excursion to Chichen Itza, to a small Mayan village, and to a ceynote. These are places not to be missed. My only recommendation is not to book through third party. When we booked it we were told we would return at 7 pm. But we ended up being a part of a group of people from lots of different hotels which took up a lot of time for pickups and dropoffs - didn't get home until 9:30 pm. Too late for dinner. So just be sure to check on timing of the excursion - you should be able to book a smaller group tour. Overall, my husband and I had a wonderful stay and look forward to going back again next year.

Resort sem programação a noite. Tem que dar gorjetas para ter um bom atendimento. Não tem área para caminhadas. O Gran Salon tem dias específicos para abrir. Enfim, sem entretenimento algum a partir das 11pms.

Keep in mind that seagasm season is last week of April through September in Mexico. Appreciate that its not a "party zone". The grocery shopping on site is great and you can get wine and beer. The hotel is solid and you dont hear anyone above, below, or besides you. You can do nothing all day or go to the coneirge excursion desk and do everything. There is rarely any vendors and they do not bother you. The wait staff and housekeeping is unparalleled.

Don't even ask for a recommendation on a drink a menu will be slapped in your face. Once you order a drink it tastes like rubbing alcohol half the time. Mimosas and beers were the only consistent drinks.( except one mimosa that was made with beer (gross) Safety concern.... you are made to yell your room number out at every resturant and bar for all to hear. As a female with children or solo travelers everyone now knows exactly which room to find you....

From the initial planning to the final departure, the experience was seamless. Planning & Logistics: A huge thank you to Omar for helping us book this trip; the arrangements were perfect for our large group. Also, the airport transportation with Thomas Moore was prompt and professional, making the "back and forth" completely stress-free. Staff & Service: The service at the resort is top-tier. Housekeeping kept our suites immaculate, which is no easy task with a group our size! A special shout-out goes to Edith in the events/concierge team. She was a lifesaver in coordinating two birthday celebrations, including a beautiful "Black and Gold" surprise for my wife. Her attention to detail with the cakes, flowers, and midnight sparklers was amazing. Amenities & Grounds: The beach was truly the best part—the sand and water were incredible. The pools were well-maintained, there were plenty of kids' activities to keep the little ones entertained, and the dining facilities were great. Whether you are traveling as a couple or a large multi-generational family, The Royal Sands knows how to take care of you. We highly recommend it and can’t wait to come back!

Excellent variety of food and beverage choices. Really nice kids aqua park. Thomas More on site, Jesus has looked after our transportation needs and excursions for many years and provides such great care and professionalism. This trip, the Jungle Tour was great fun, speed boats and snorkelling, located just a short drive from resort. Ask for Flash on the Jungle Tour - he looked after us and made this 2 hour tour a great experience. We love the Sands - the beach is beautiful and clean. We swam in the ocean every day. Enjoy!!

We were given a room but were told that we would have to check out of that room the next morning, April 18th, and check our luggage with the Bell Hop for storage until another room was available. They could not give us a time when another room would be available. We kept checking with the front desk throughout the afternoon hoping to get in a room. We finally got in an another room around 4:30 pm that evening after retrieving our luggage, which was suppose to have been delivered to our room. We paid for our accommodations for April 17th to the 21st, 2026, with the assumption that we would have a room for the entire stay. We have never experienced this before and it was very disappointing that we were inconvenienced for a whole day for a room we had paid for. If we had known in advance we would not have reserved this resort.

We never were able to reserve the restaurants. The facilities are in good shape overall. Loved the place in general. The fact that is mostly calm and relaxing giving family vibes is true. This property it's a giant time share. Being told about the time share was shocking news to us. It's common that many hotels have a small portion reserved for that, but the consequence of this in our case is that after the first night we had to be reallocated to a different room. We were on the 4th floor at first, and then we moved to the 2nd floor. For a 6 days stay that sucked.

- 906shermans (10/5): Continues to Meet Expectations - Another great three week (time share) vacation at the Royal Sands Cancun! After 20+ years it’s good to see that the resort continues to meet our needs and expectations. RESORT is starting to show its age but overall it’s well maintained and clean. We stayed in a ground level beach front one bedroom suite and it appears that people sat on the couch in wet swim wear as the cushions were stained and felt grimy. People please do not sit on the furniture in wet/ damp clothes! We shouldn’t have to put towels down in order to sit on the couch. Otherwise the unit was generally pretty clean. BEACH was in good condition even with the seaweed as tractors came by and tilled it into the sand on a regular basis. Weather was great as expected and water was warm making for a fantastic beach experience with the exception of people playing music/using electronic devices without earbuds or headphones. People please be aware not everyone likes (insert whatever music you want here). Not everyone will like it. But back to more positives. It was great to see the long term STAFF as well as meeting some of the new faces. One thing that’s consistent is that employee/ staff are friendly, welcoming, and hard working. Special shut out to La Veranda / Char Hut manager Wilbert aka “Capt Willie”who always makes our vacations extra special. Also la Veranda servers Eduardo Pacheco and Miquel Chavez. Thumbs up also to Char Hut servers Moises, Roberto, Gabriel, and Enrique. Food at La Veranda has improved especially with the nightly themed buffets. Good quality and variety. Looking forward to coming back.
- evanM7269AV (10/5): Great Time: Will visit again now that we know the tips. - What a great location! Our 5 year old loved the kids hot tub, which always had great families to meet. Our room was 5402 one bedroom suite with a great view of the beach and hotel zone strip. Our maid Miriam was fantastic, and the beds were great. The pools were fun, although the southern main pool (close to building A) was less windy and more convenient for our location. The kids club was a big hot. The trick is to tell your kids to choose the daily activities they want to do at the beginning of the day so they know what time things are happening. (ex. 10am face painting, 2pm treasure hunt, 3pm tie die shirts). The kids slide area was fun. One section is for for adults and big kids (over 50 inches i think), and the other was only for kids (30 inches through 50 inches i think). There is a snack hut open after noon. The kids area opens at 11am. The beach was raging. It was red flag the whole time we were there, but that was fine since the waves are so big and fun to play in. They had staff watching out for everyone who went too deep in the waves and blew the whistle at them. Its hard to build a sandcastle, so we went to the sister property at Royal Cancun. That beach was so easy for sandcastles, and just playing and wading in the shallow quiet beach. It's great that they let you visit the other property, and the food there was great as well. Nothing was annoyingly noisy because the wind and the waves were so loud. The sports restaurant had a great menu, and the sushi restaurant is located next to it. The Hacienda restaurant has live music in the form of 4-5 people moving around the restaurant. This works great for Mayan or Mexican music nights. Book a few days early to get a dinner table. We took the red buses up and down the hotel zone strip. We never took a shuttle. The red buses cost 12 pesos per person (70 cents), and run all the time. Like all the time. We waited 1-2 minutes for the next one to come by. They drive fast, but they get you were your going. So much easier than shuttles, and we didn't want to deal with taxi's. Our hotel zone trips were down to the El Rey Archeological ruins, which were covered with iguanas since the iguanas live under the ruin stones. Totally worth it for our sons age. We went to the interactive museum and the dolphin splash experience. Far too expensive, but it was a great time for our little one. And we took the red buses to the Royal Cancun sister property (about 10 minutes). Cons: The pizza is terrible. LOL That was a surprise. The veranda restaurant is better if you order off the menu. Many places do not allow food to be taken to the hotel room, unless you sit down and ask for a to-go box. Room service takes about an hour, and is useful but you have to plan in advance and the menu gets a little old after a few times. When you check in they try to sell you on a timeshare, suggesting if you listen to a 90 minute presentation they would give you a $145 credit. No thanks. They even called our room a few times to see if we wanted to be part of a presentation after I already said no.

We particularly enjoyed the extra attention paid to us (and our guests) by Angelica, who went out of her way to keep the villa spotless, and to Isela Rodriguez, who has been in charge of the guest laundry services for many, many years. We are always happy to see Isela! Her communication skills are excellent, and she always checks to make sure what settings we want and if there are any special handling items. She's not as visible as the wait staff, the front desk staff and the concierges, but her cheerful services are critical to any of us who stay for more than a week! We would also like to extend our gratitude again to Julio Ibarra, who graciously hosted the Back of the House tour for ourselves, our guests and our friends. The machinery, facilities and employees who keep the Sands in tip-top shape are unbelievable, and we are happy to see that Royal Resorts remains committed to the environment and to supporting the incredible staff. Thank you, Julio! A quick shout out to Jesus in Hacienda Sisal, to Orlando in LeBistro, and to Christian at Thomas More, who arranged multiple tours for our very diverse group over the course of two weeks!

Activities are great and kids loved the kids clubs and aqua park. Whilst food was great and of good quality our daughter has milk allergy and options were limited. The only downside was check-in experience was a bit slow and then you get handed off to a concierge who tries to get you to a timeshare presentation. We made it clear we were not interested in timeshare and he got up walked off without even saying goodbye which we thought was very rude. On the whole this made the check-in experience stressful. However we soon forgot about this as everything else was great.

- 634candicet (6/5): Timeshare Resort Beware - This is a timeshare hotel this is very important to note because if you arrive on a day that runs through a Saturday and you’re not a member of the Holiday Inn Vacations Timeshare program they will literally change your room. I never would’ve booked here had I known this. I am well traveled and leave honest reviews you can trust to make a sound decision. The ask you for your room key every time you sit down for a meal, need a drink anytime you can possibly incur an up charge they ask you for your room key mind you we booked an all inclusive package unfortunately this is one of those resorts where all the really good seafood and fun looking drinks cost an additional charge even for the room service menu which is not the best but you won’t starve. Also, there’s a specific time for things like making a reservation when you can pre order food which for me while on vacation is annoying I dont want to have to remember all these different timeslots to be accommodated for badic service it becomes like a job. Reservations start at 8 am the phone line was busy every morning we tried using concierge to get a reservation the phone was busy for the desk as well. Room service took 90 minutes one night. We wanted more coca-cola they are absolutely delicious and nothing like the States when the beverage guy came to restock the fridge and saw we had 2cans already in the fridge he asked me WHY I wanted more lol smh and I literally swapped out the beer with him IN EXCHANGE FOR THE COKE again we bought an all inclusive package. We arrived on a Thursday and had to switch our room to the one next door on the Saturday so they could put a “member” in the room we had an oceanfront view that we paid for and then was changed to a room with an obstructed view if the ocean. This resort caters to guests that are timeshare members and new guests that buy the program presentation they pester you to participate in for the first 3 days we had to keep telling this one staff member we were not interested. I try my best to avoid resorts that offer all inclusive but really dont and this was my first time getting caught up on a timeshare property of all the reviews I read no one mentioned this and its absolutely a NEED TO KNOW! The grounds were well maintained had a much better time with the locals and off the resort. Only one staff member made us truly feel welcomed and accommodated and that was Moses at The Hut he was just warm friendly and provided great customer service he made us feel just as important as a member and that really made an impression for us. If you’re into timeshares and membership presentation and programs and setting alarms to make sure you get access or a reservation for the things that would make your trip easy breezy and enjoyable this is the place for you. If all you want to hear is YES and ofcourse and yes this is included too and not give up your room key for every single thing and seeking a relatively lively resort this IS NOT the place for you. You have to be a member to appreciate an easy enjoyable vacation at this resort. It was a teaching moment for me and now I know exactly what to look out for when I want to book a 5 star all inclusive resort stay. FOOD all around was great drinks are not strong at all you gave to ask for shots on the side, beach is beautiful and quiet no music uhmm chairs were easy to claim they give you flags to hold your spot its supposed to be for 60 minutes at a time they are very lenient with that we saw empty chairs for hours reserved with flags. Pool was huge and clean. Overall like I said I learned more about why I would never stay at a timeshare property again that offers up charges for things other 5 star resorts offer with an all inclusive package that guests would prefer. Members are the priority here and it seems I came across mostly member reviews where their stay and experience would be starkly different from a non member such as myself. There are better resorts options in the Cancun area that truly give a 5 star all inclusive guest experience go there.

There's plenty to do at the resort with entertainment, restaurants and a bar/ club. If you want a fantastic vacation, this is the place to go!

Also, the lines at La Veranda for breakfast and dinner is inconsistent with the concept of all inclusive. There seems to be a need for more dining options.

- kelly181012 (10/5): Family Paradise - We spent spring break as a family of 4 (2 teens) at Royal Sands and were very impressed! The atmosphere and overall appearance of the resort is gorgeous and well maintained. The beach is walkable and has beautiful water. There are shady beach spots and plenty of chairs. There are 2 wonderful large pools as well. I worried about how busy it would be and the ease of finding chairs, but we had no problems. They give you flags to reserve spots for a short period of time. The villas for a family of 4 to spread out are amazing. They are very clean and we had an ocean view. The beds were firm, but plenty comfortable. The food at Hacienda Sisal and the pool bar was our favorite. The buffet was as expected, but had lots of options. We went to Royal Cancun to eat at Trattoria, which was also really good. We were able to get reservations, but often had to select between 5:00 or 9:00 pm. We enjoyed the sushi and sports bar food as well. Drinks were plentiful at any location. We really enjoyed spending a day at Royal Cancun to kayak a paddle board. The all inclusive package works there too! Overall we were really impressed with the service. We planned to bring small bills to tip and had no long waits ever. It was paradise and we would absolutely return!

Our villa was great, lots of space and great view. Tons of activities (pool, beach, aqua park) for adults and kids. Food was amazing, great variety. Thomas Moore Transportation brought us to and from the airport - great service provided and the people were very welcoming and nice. 10/10 vacation! would definitely go back!

Et le personnel en charge de « présenter » l’hôtel qui vous présente les excursions massage et boat tour que j’ai trouvé désagréable et surtout vicieux. Nous ne parlons pas très bien anglais, elle nous a parlé d’une présentation courte qui devait durer 90 minutes sauf que nous avons compris 19 minutes. 19 minutes c’était pas grand chose alors j’ai accepté puis elle a imprimé un document où c’est noté 90 minutes et que si je ne me présente pas la somme de 500 pesos serait prise sur le dépôt de garantie. Je lui ai alors dit qu’à aucun moment elle n’a parlé de cette somme et qu’en lisant le document je m’aperçois que c’est 90 minutes et non 19 et que c’est trop long pour moi, une perte de temps durant mon court séjour et en plein après-midi en plus. Je lui dis que je ne veux plus y participer et la elle me répond d’un air très dédaigneux « ça ne vous gêne pas de perdre 500 pesos alors » . J’étais outrée et lui ai demandé d’annuler ma présence et que je me plaindrais à la direction. Ce sont des méthodes dignes d’escrot! Je retournerai sûrement à Cancun mais pas dans cet établissement. Cet accueil a été le point noir de nos vacances et dès le premier jour, ça refroidi énormément. Autre chose, lisez bien les informations car si vous ne venez pas un samedi vous vous devrez changer de chambre le samedi au milieu de vos vacances et remballer toutes vos affaires car les réservations se font du samedi au samedi

The pools and splash pad are incredible and perfect for families. The resort has huge potential to be a 5-star experience as the facilities themselves are beautiful. The room was big and we loved it The Food: Truly disappointing. It was tasteless and poor quality—a major letdown. Pool Seating: A nightmare. People grab chairs at 6:00 AM, and there is nowhere to sit if you arrive later. The hotel must manage this better. Spa: Way overpriced, triple the rates in the US. Beach: Too much seaweed which brings endless bugs/gnats. Bottom line: Great potential, but the food and seating issues ruined the luxury feel.

All of the activities staff made our stay a very enjoyable and memorable one, filled with lots of fun and laughter. Walter, Roger, Omar, Sofia, Rodrigo, & Zairy are the best! They keep a smile on their faces despite a grueling schedule of back to back fun activities for all ages. They work as a team with energy, laughter, & pazass. They lead everyone desiring to join in the fun of the day with morning yoga & water aerobics, pool games, beach volleyball, Mexican bingo (Loteria) at noon, kids club, bingo, dance lessons, casino card games in the afternoon and Wednesday Casino fun playing blackjack and Texas Hold'em and last but not least Karaoke on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Entertainment at its best! Thanks for making the activities at the Royal Sands so much fun for everyone! We also appreciate the activities center office managers Karla & Felix. - J8087QWianh (6/5): Mixed experience but there are some need to knows! - Sharing our experience of our stay at the Royal Sands Hotel in Cancun. For any UK guests visiting for the first time (especially families), this will give you a clear heads up of what to expect.... 🏨 Check-in & Timeshare Policy (IMPORTANT) The check-in experience was really disappointing. We were told on arrival that the hotel operates as a timeshare, which we were not aware of when booking meaning If your stay goes over a Saturday, you MUST change rooms mid-stay. For example, if you stay Thursday to Thursday, because your stay includes a Saturday, you’ll have to move rooms on the Saturday regardless. This is: ❗ Hugely inconvenient ❗ Disruptive to your holiday ❗ Means living out of a suitcase for part of your stay 👉 Had we known this beforehand, we likely wouldn’t have booked this hotel. 🛏️ Rooms The rooms themselves were: ✅ Very clean ✅ Well maintained ✅ Fridge fully stocked with water and soft drinks No complaints about the rooms at all. 🛏️ Sunbeds (MAJOR ISSUE) This was one of the biggest negatives of the entire holiday as reserving sunbeds is an absolute nightmare!! To get four beds together, I had to wake up between 5–6am every day. 👉 We found that the American guests were going down as early as 2:30am to reserve beds. This completely takes away from the relaxing holiday experience, as there’s constant stress about securing beds. The hotel claims: If beds are unattended for 60 minutes, belongings will be removed but in reality, this never happened once during our stay as beds were reserved and left empty for hours 👉 This really needs addressing as it significantly impacts the overall experience. 🍽️ Food & Restaurant The food was very good overall. 🍳 Freshly cooked options every night were excellent 🍽️ Buffet was good. 👨👩👦 Always something available for both adults and kids A special mention to Mario, Alberto and Francisco: ⭐ Fantastic service ⭐ Very attentive ⭐ Always made sure we were looked after (cappuccino with no cinnamon!) 👉 The restaurant experience was one of the highlights. 🎭 Entertainment & Atmosphere This is where the hotel falls short as the sports bar is the main evening option but it’s usually very busy so it's hard to get seats or use facilities like the pool table. 👉 There is very little alternative entertainment. We did notice a silent disco near the beach one night, but It wasn’t advertised well and we only found it by chance. 👉 Overall, evenings can feel quite limited and underwhelming. 🌬️ Weather (Just an FYI) When we visited (March/April), it was very windy all of the time so you couldn't really sit outside playing cards for example. I don't know if this is due to location or time of year but just an FYI. 🏥 Medical Experience Unfortunately, our son developed an ear infection during the trip. The first doctor was: ❌ Unhelpful ❌ Distracted (kept using his phone when we were asking him questions) ❌ Poor experience We weren’t comfortable with the medication prescribed so I sought a second opinion. 👉 We then saw Dr Claudia, who was outstanding: ⭐ Caring and attentive ⭐ Reassuring ⭐ Checked on us daily ⭐ Went above and beyond We had to stay an extra night as our son wasn’t fit to fly, and she supported us throughout. 👉 Dr Claudia was exceptional and deserves huge praise. 👍 Pros: - The sea views are absolutely stunning. One of the best parts of the stay - Clean, well-maintained rooms - Fully stocked fridge - Great food and freshly cooked options - Excellent restaurant staff (Mario, Alberto & Francisco) - Outstanding care from Dr Claudia 👎 Cons: - Mandatory room move if staying over a Saturday - Poor communication about timeshare policy - Sunbed situation is extremely frustrating - Hotel does not enforce its own sunbed rules - Limited evening entertainment - Sports bar overcrowded - First medical experience was poor - Windy conditions limit outdoor relaxation 🧠 Overall Verdict We still had a really enjoyable holiday, but there are some major drawbacks that you should be aware of before booking. 👉 Would we return? No. 👉 Would others enjoy it? Yes – if you go in with the right expectations.

We stayed in one half of the condo with a small balcony. We were gone most of the time on tours so only used the pool occasionally. The red flag was out so no swimming in the ocean but it wA pretty to observe. The food was mostly good- we typically ate in the buffet, with some bar food and one night room service. The market onsite is great for other items you might need and Starbucks coffee since there’s not a specialty coffee location in the all inclusive. The property is convenient to take a city bus in The hotel zone for 12 peso. We went to the isle of mejueres ferry, the isla mall and the Mayan museum. However you can grab a taxi onsite instead. The onsite shuttle is nice but coordinating the times is a challenge. Runs between a sister property. We did take it to the sister property and back before we tried the city bus so we waited for long periods getting back - two hours. So had dinner at sister property. The staff was very friendly and helpful! Concierge, front desk, room service, bellman, restaurant staff.

Friendliest service, best beach, amazing pools & restaurants, and Sofia’s yoga class is amazing. Very easy to take the bus up or down Kukulcan and easy walk to stores and La Isla.

- MrsRamirez9510 (8/5): Great stay at the Royal Sands - This is a Holiday Inn resort property which I didn't know when booking. My heart sank when I saw "Holiday Inn" on the sign. Being from the U.S., to me, Holiday Inn indicates an adequate but unimpressive stay. Not what I want for an all-inclusive Cancun resort. But my expectations were exceeded. Pros Exceptionally clean and well-maintained property. Staff was cleaning day and night. Rooms were updated and well-kept. Every area from the hallways, to the spa, pool and lobby we spotless. They even scrubbed the outdoor floors. Plenty of pool space. With two large pools, two good size kiddie pools, two heated whirlpools (one for families aka kids), the lap pool, and the Waterpark you never feel crowded for pool space. Lots of activites for kids...and adults. I was able to spend a few relaxing hours in the spa while my 9 yo daughter made tie-dye shirts in the kids club, painted pottery on the pool deck and hung out by the pool. Cons This is a timeshare resort so it has varying levels of all-inclusive. I booked through my company's travel site so I didn't know this. The only alcohol included were well drinks and there were several menu items that had an upcharge. In some cases it wasn't bad. A top shelf margarita at the sports bar was discounted for all-inclusive guests to $10. But a dirty martini I ordered at dinner set me back $22. Eating required a sit down or poolside order situation. Other resorts I've stayed at had pop-up carts or other grab and go options throughout the day. At the Royal Sands, you either need to put in an order with a poolside server or sit down at one of the restaurants for even a quick bite. Otherwise, you were stuck buying something from the market. Pool deck chairs are all reserved by dawn. This is a common problem at resorts that Royal Sands has tried to alleviate with a flag. Each person in your party is given a flag upon check-in that you affix to deck chairs to reserve them. Policy states that you have to be present in the area of the reserved chair and gone from the chair no longer than an hour or else security will remove the flag and you'll have to pay a not inconsequential fee to retrieve them (can't remember what it was but maybe $50USD). As you can imagine, this is difficult to put into practice especially when sp many guests are timeshare owners or guests of timeshare owners. When I would had to the gym at 7am every chair would already have a flag and no one would be at the pool. I recommended sitting wherever you want and if/when the flag owners show up, you just move to another ghosted chair. Tips for a fun stay Take the shuttle to the sister property Royal Cancun. The calm waters are great for little kids and there you can kayak and paddle board for no added cost. They also have an area to dive off the pier that is staffed by a lifeguard. Don't get suckered into the timeshare presentation. Just say no. The spa credit isn't worth wasted time on your vacation. If you want to go to the spa, just spend the cash and get the most out of your spa day. Book an afternoon or later spa appointment. Have a workout or brunch then head to the spa to relax before your appointment. Follow the recommended hyrdo process described in the spa (try not to have eaten much within 45 minutes of starting). It takes about an hour but it is peak relaxation and a great precursor to your service. FYI, there are no food options in the spa other than while fruit. There are two malls near the hotel, a small luxury mall just steps away and a larger luxury+ mall about a 5-minute drive away. For those up for it both are probably walkable and worth a visit if you're into that type of thing. The larger mall also has a few attractions including a ferris wheel. Enjoy!
- hesails (10/5): Jimmy’s the Best - We spend 3 weeks at the Royal Resort. We are always greeted by Jimmy with the Bell staff who takes care of us from the time we step out of the airport van and until we left. Jimmy truly makes it a vacation.

- Max (4/5): Auf gar keinen Fall!! - Nichts. Hätten lieber ein anderes Hotel buchen sollen. 16 Uhr einchecken ist eine absolute Frechheit. Zudem wenn die Poolbars ab 18 Uhr schließen die Angestellten aber schon ab 17:30 Uhr reinigen und einen nicht mehr bedienen. Das Restaurant war ok mit Abwechslung aber jedes Mal seine Karte abzugeben um nach dem Essen Trinkgeld abzukassieren ist einfach nur nervig. Zudem gibt es eine Unterteilung ob man member ist oder lediglich All in inclusive gebucht hat. Dadurch wartet man gut 10-15 Minuten um an der Rezeption ranzukommen. Am Abend haben wir nicht mal irgendwo Wasser bekommen, dafür sollten wir uns beim Roomkeeping melden. Nach 2,5h warten und drei Anrufen haben wir dann zwei Flaschen Wasser bekommen. Das Hotel gleicht einen Ort für besoffene Amerikaner.

- alfandri (10/5): Perfect - We booked to celebrate my son's 6th birthday and the staff did everything they could to make him happy and ensure he had the most fun possible. They took care of him with flowers and decorated the room, brought him a cake, since he wasn't allowed to be in the sun much, they let us stay in the cabin for a few days and decorated the cabin with balloons for him on his birthday. The pool staff and the restaurant staff were the most kind, helpful and pampering you could ask for. A wonderful place to spend a relaxing and pampering vacation The pool is a bit outdated.

The NOT so good…NO dinner reservation availability for the restaurants until day of if you are not a member & even then the only time is 9:30pm. The food overall was a 5/10. NO pool chair availability unless you reserve them before 6am. We paid for an “ocean view” room, but because we were on the first floor all we saw out our balcony was the pool & a wall. TIP: As for a room 5th floor or higher.

The all inclusive plan is expensive and not worth what you can consume. The drinks are watered down and the food quality is mediocre, at best.
