Nombreux commerces, bars et restaurants à proximité. Avenues animées mais rues calmes avec des arbres .et de belles maison. Chambres très spacieuse avec espace cuisine. Beaucoup d'espace de rangements. Lit très confortables. Personnel très accueillant. La salle de bain est petite par rapport à la superficie de la chambre et est un peu vieillotte et ne correspond plus aux critères actuelles mais moi j'apprécie justement ce côté ancien.

Hope to come back soon ! - The appartment was bigger than expected, the 2 beds were very comfortable, there were enough kitchen utensils to cook for 4, the dishes were done everyday (waow !!! thanks Susan and co !) , the room was extremely clean, we were welcomed by Mister Miguel, who was extremely warm and always smiling, he gave us some plans of NY as soon as we arrived and some good addesses were to buy some food ! We also met Luc, who was extremely cool with us ! Everybody in the hotel was very kind with us ! Nothing!

The staff were friendly and helpful . The lobby was a nice place to stop and regroup while in between activities. Very walkable to subway.

- Pamela (10/5): The Hotel Beacon is a class act at an affordable price! - Location, service, style. A wonderful stay at the perfect location. Gorgeous view of the Ansonia looking west. Super comfortable bed, nice kitchen, fast elevators. The rooms are large and very comfortable.
- Calvin (6/5): - Excellent location with friendly staff. Very close to the express 2 and 3 lines which is great for getting downtown quickly. We traveled with our 1 yr old son and they had a crib and high chair set up when we arrived. They even let us check in early so that we could keep him on his nap schedule. The facilities were somewhat dated, which by itself we didn't care about it so much. We did have a run in with a few cockroaches which was unpleasant, but the staff sent someone up to deal with it which was helpful.

- TerryM-Sydney (10/5): We enjoyed Hotel Beacon in 2019 and for two stays since, we expect to enjoy many future stays. - “You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time”. So we all have different expectations and experiences. For the Beacon to maintain its Travellers Choice Award, certainly gives confidence about what it is offering and delivering. From Tripadvisor website "What is Travellers’ Choice? Tripadvisor gives a Travellers’ Choice award to accommodations, attractions and restaurants that consistently earn great reviews from travellers and are ranked within the top 10% of properties on Tripadvisor." I have been fortunate to have had three extended stays at the Beacon ( 12 nights 2019,19 nights 2022, 21 nights 2025) and plan to return again, such is the level of our satisfaction and comfort at the Beacon. First stay highly recommended by an airline staff Facebook group, airline staff recommendations do not come easily. As others have highlighted the location provides easy access to the subway, Central Park, Fairways supermarket, multiple restaurant options and staff who will gladly share their wisdom with you for any and all enquiries. We had also paid a deposit for a return stay in 2020 and Covid blocked that stay and as an example of the staff working to support us and still get great value, they allowed us to use the deposit towards our next stay in 2022. We have always booked a suite and enjoyed the space to spread out and treat it as our home for the time we are in NYC. Being health conscious of what we eat, the kitchenette is excellent to avoid eating out everyday or for all meals. Eating healthy mostly allowed for the Citarella cakes to be enjoyed more often, along with an abundance of walking, discovering the Upper West Side attractions / ambience, trips to outer boroughs and all over Manhattan itself. I can appreciate others will have different expectations for possibly shorter stays and with the value of the Australian Dollar (Pacific Peso) never strong against the USD a suite for an extended stay can be considerable, but the value for the space and comfort it brings, will always be a winner for us. For anyone planning a stay, I will strongly recommend that you join the Beacon insider mailing list and get to take advantage of the discounted bargains offered throughout the year. We have always prepaid fully for our room the last two years, 6-7 months in advance to make the most value for our stays, especially helped by Dawn the reservations manager. The rooms are well maintained and as old as the furnishings are, they are comfortable despite some wear acquired in their lifetime. The comfort of the King size beds was the factor that had us get a King sized bed when we next upgraded at home. The only non worrying challenges we have ever had was (Towels and bathroom shelf / storage space) trying to hang multiple bath towels to dry, given multiple showers during the summer stay, errands, outings and gym. The chairs in the room easily solved the towel challenge. The bathroom has a small shelf to hold what you would have in your bathroom for an extended trip. I only mention these two bathroom challenges as the good news is that, a makeover of the rooms has commenced. Having been fortunate to have seen a makeover and the capacity for the bathroom challenges to be resolved, I believe will go a long way in making for an even more comfortable stay in the future. The features and furnishings will I believe only get better with the makeover, fortunately the continuing experienced care of the supportive staff and willingness to share their wisdom in all sections has continued to impress from our first stay. I believe it is the comfort of the rooms and the staff are why the Beacon Hotel maintains its “Travellers Choice Award” and I will happily recommended it to others, especially in spoiling yourself with a suite booking.

Le supermarché juste en face de l immeuble qui nous a permis de faire nos courses pour manger dans l appartement : on a pu faire des économies certaines. Un personnel parlant français. Manque d'ustensiles dans la cuisine. Pas d'aération dans la salle de bain. Eau tiède dans salle de bain qui demeure vieillotte. Les lits double sont trop petits pour 2.

In the room we had that was not renovated yet, the shower faucet wasn't properly connected to the wall and there was old, chipping paint. It needed renovation, but the renovated room we had was really nice.

- Fearless783139 (8/5): Solid UWS Base Camp — Just Bring Your Own Water - First time staying on the Upper West Side and the Hotel Beacon delivered where it counts. Staff — 5/5. Accommodating and helpful across the board. Well done. Cleanliness — 5/5. Should lead with this. It's the baseline for any hotel stay and they nailed it. Location — 5/5. Subjective, but hard to beat. Large natural grocery store across the street, coffee nearby, walkable to plenty of restaurants. Rooms — 4/5. We booked the king suite and by New York standards it felt reasonably spacious. The kitchenette, full-size refrigerator, and utensils were a nice bonus — not the reason we chose it, but came in handy. Two minor complaints: the door between rooms didn't close properly, and the shower was just okay. Had a bit of a Hampton Inn plastic feel. Amenities — 2/5. This is a quiet, no-frills property and that's fine — but there's no water on arrival and the fitness room is cardio-only with a single cable machine and, critically, no water dispenser. I can't recall another hotel gym without one. Easy fix: add a refillable water station somewhere in the building. Bottom line: I'd stay here again if I needed to be on the UWS. Not a bargain, but a solid, clean, well-staffed option. Management: please add a water station. Seriously, it's an easy win.

The room was giving on a rooftop that was basically at the same level as the window. Didn’t even have water in the rooms!! You needed to go to buy water from a dispenser somewhere in the hotel. It is really overpriced on all fronts.

- 5050clo (4/5): The only good things about this hotel is the neighborhood and the size of the room.They are doing noisy renovations - They are doing renovations and wake us up by the noise every morning but they won’t tell you. The woman receptionist is very rude and lies. When I complained about the noise she even said that I asked specifically for this room because I wanted to see the Hudson !?!? I didn’t and you can’t see that from this room. She could have just said sorry . Why lied? That’s rude. Also forget about getting a bottle of water like every other hotel. I certainly wouldn’t go back

It's in a lovely residential neighborhood on the Upper West Side away from all the madness of Midtown but just two blocks from 72nd St subway station from where you can easily get anywhere in the 5 Boroughs. It's so much more restful than anywhere else we've stayed in NYC. There are restaurants and cafes all around, the rooms all have kitchenettes and there is a Fairways Wholefoods market and a great Deli opposite if you want to self cater a bit. The room are bright and spacious and the staff are delightful.

- farawayNJ (10/5): Lovely hotel on the Upper West Side - Stayed at the hotel for a concert at the theater next door. SO convenient! Furnishings and bathrooms are a bit outdated but still in great condition. Beds are obviously newer and super comfortable. Our room had a kitchenette with fridge, microwave, 4-burner stove, and a small oven, so it’s easy to save $ if you want to prep your own meals. Given other options in NYC, the Beacon is great value for the price, and located in a lovely, safe, residential neighborhood away from the “touristy” areas. It’s a short walk to Columbus Ave (lots of restaurants/shops), Central Park (Strawberry Fields), the Museum of Natural History, and Lincoln Center. The #1 subway is 2 blocks away and that line will take you north to Van Cortlandt Park, or south to Times Square or Penn Station, and all the way to South Ferry. A few things to note: Check-in is 3pm, check-out is noon. This is more generous than many other NYC hotels where check-in is 4pm and check-out is 11am. Spring for a few extra bucks and get a room with a view on an upper floor. You won’t regret it! Make sure to grab breakfast at Slate Cafe around the corner on 74th St!
- richard (10/5): The Wonderful Hotel Beacon - The Beacon is in a great neighbourhood on the Upper West Side, away from all the madness of mid-town. The rooms are spacious and light, and with kitchenettes so you can use the Fairways wholefood market and wonderful deli opposite the hotel. The staff are delightful. The Beacon is the best hotel we ever stay at in NYC and it's our first choice every time. There is nothing about the Beacon that we don't like, it is exceptional.

Have stayed many times and look forward to more visits. It would be nice to have an onsite cocktail lounge. We miss the Beacon Bar and hope it opens again soon.

They reduced it a bit lower when asked still would not keep it at the rate I was paying for the first. It felt unfair because we were already settled into the room and I did not want to pack and move so we paid more just to stay put. - no breakfast available at all was disappointing especially given it says there is breakfast for a fee on booking.com!

I manage a restaurant in the Area and so when the blizzard of February 2026 hit, I needed some place to stay warm and safe for a night or two while NYC got cleaned up. People come to my restaurant raving about their stay at Hotel Beacon all the time. I officially get the hype! The front desk team led by Victor & Yomi…amazing. From door to car assistance, to a hand written custom note and Bubbly! Yomi & Victor thank you, and to the entire Hotel Beacon team!
