The beds were comfortable and we could spread out, talk, relax, make oir pwn food in the kitchen. The location was easy walking to the Park Ave Armory where we attended a show and shopping. We could use a few more tables and towel racks in or near the bathroom for two ladies to get organized and share the space for toiletries and such.

- Pam S (7/5): - I liked the location and the concierge were very helpful. The lighting in the rooms was great, i always find that other hotels in New York have very poor lighting. There was no kettle in the room and had to boil water in a saucepan. Our room was at the end of the corridor, there was no heating in the bathroom and the water was not very hot, the bath was cast iron so when the water hit the cast iron bath it cooled the water down thus making a cold bath. The temperature in New York was exceptionally cold and we had not way of warming ourselves up in a hot bath. Another family member stayed in a room that was not at the end of the building and did not have this problem.
- 966lorrainew (4/5): Got Flea Bites from staying here for almost a week - Rooms are spacious and light, and clean. However, when I found out that dogs stay in the rooms, I asked for a room that had been animal free. Apparently the hotel do not keep a section of the hotel that has never had animals in, but I was assured that the rooms were thoroughly cleaned after a dog has been in there with its owner. I was a bit wary as I know many dog owners allow their dog to sleep on their bed with them, but I was led to believe quilts and everything were thoroughly cleaned! I stayed for almost a week, and by the end of my visit I had about 10 spots on my right thigh and leg, that were red and itchy. I saw a dermatologist when I returned to the UK, and she diagnosed the spots were flea bites!!! I have never had flea bites in my life. I think it is atrocious that you pay for a supposed upmarket accommodation, and that this happens as a consequence of sloppy, 'not caring' management. In the UK, hotels, have separate parts that remain animal free for those guests that prefer that. I was not expecting this to happen, but now it has I ask that you consider changing your policy to one that accommodates all guests, and their wishes. There are many people, while they still love dogs, do not choose to share their bed, their bedroom, or even their couch with a dog.

Subway stop less than a block away for when we were going further afield. Suites were a good size which is a rarity in NYC I was disappointed in the standard of decor - it felt quite a bit short of what was displayed on the website. Suites were nowhere near as plush - more basic and a bit tired in places.

- Brittany (10/5): Comfortable and even better than expected! - Loved the location. It felt safe and like a neighborhood and was quieter than a lot of other parts of the city. Also, much cleaner and well maintained. The rooms were big. A full kitchen was a bonus, and the extra make-up space was nice for getting ready in the morning with 5 people. Also, there were hooks, a small drop-zone bench and lots of storage. It was well thought out in the design for having a family be able to stay together in New York without having to get 2 rooms.

The rooms were very clean. The furniture and beds were comfortable. We asked for extra pillows and blankets and they were delivered in a timely fashion. The lobby had a coffee machine which was always stocked well. A laundry room in the basement for guest. They also had an exercise room with adequate equipment. We would definitely stay here again

- 732blairl (10/5): Elective surgery and weekend recovery - I had to bring my wife into New York City for some elective surgery on a Friday with a weekend recovery and a private nurse. Our room was equivalent to a small NYC apartment which included a kitchen, dining area, sofa bed, bathroom and a separate master bedroom. The front desk bell hops and cleaning crew were great and very accommodating. I want, especially like to thank Michael for his assistance.

- portlandlilly (2/5): What the heck happened to this place? - I’ve stayed at this hotel at least five times when it was the Affinia. It has gone so far downhill it’s shocking. Yes if you are a large family and need a lot of room and cram everybody in it’s a good place for that as it is very spacious compared to other New York properties. If you are a business traveler or anybody that needs a competent room forget about it. The outlets don’t work and there are no hubs to plug in all your stuff, the TV isn’t a smart TV so you can’t even bring your streaming services with you, there are no amenities in the bathroom and if you ask for things they have to scrounge for them, there’s no salt or pepper in the kitchen, which was a given for any hotel that had a kitchenette, and there’s literally nothing except water and soda and chips available at the front desk. If you are a tea drinker, bring your own because they don’t have any in the room and down in the lobby there’s the cheapest Lipton tea, no herbal tea for the evening, they’ve cut corners in every direction. The room is huge, but there’s no desk or chair or any place to do any kind of work. They do have a mini sofa and chair, none of this furniture looks like quality whatsoever.On the plus side, the staff is nice, housekeeping people are lovely and helpful, if you’re on the backside, it’s quiet, if you’re on the front side it’s not, the gym is small but decent, but I’m paying almost $500 a night with tax and for a little bit more I could be staying at a luxury hotel. This place is only worth it if you’re going with a gang and the decor is more like a best western, this hotel chain does not know how to do luxury. so if that’s what you’re after being on the upper east side, you’re not gonna find that. You will find a kitchenette, but it’s a big premium for that and next time easy enough to save a lot of money, I’ll just get Eggs on a roll down the street. I won’t choose to stay here again, even though this has been my go to Hotel for at least 15 years. Sonesta could’ve done better and kept the standards of the old hotel but it’s just not in their DNA.

- pico1 (10/5): A great hotel for visiting New York City - especially for several days - For the last 25 years, I have visited New York about 4 times per year and always stay at the Sonesta Gardens (it had other names before the ownership changed to Sonesta). I think it is terrific; a great location on the upper east side but close enough to walk to Fifth Avenue, art museums etc. It is a converted apartment building so every room has a small kitchen which is a huge benefit if you are staying several days, which I do. The staff is very friendly and competent, and the rooms are well furnished and kept very clean. My only complaint is that the bathrooms are a little small, but that is really unimportant when you consider the other advantages of staying there.

Unfortunately, they charged me for the first night I booked, but due to the plane breaking down in mid-air and its forced landing - I physically couldn't get to the hotel for the first night. So, I paid for what I didn't get; 2. The curtain in the bathroom smells really bad (there are a lot of germs there)… 3. There was no kettle in the kitchen; 4. The mattresses were too soft

- Bianca (9/5): - Excellent location, super clean and comfortable. Felt luxurious for us, and for being in manhattan, super quiet. Slept wonderfully here. Not much of a lobby or anything, but rooms are great. Would stay again.

- max (9/5): Good suite - Spacious, clean, friendly staff whenever coming or going, felt at home in the suite. Nothing, location maybe a little out of the way but that would be personal to where you go
- Ginger (6/5): - We were a little disappointed after staying at two others formerly Affinia (Sonesta) Hotels in NYC previously. Older but uptown and in a quiet area. Hospitality was lacking in comparison to other hotels

- Cristina (10/5): - I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The place was very clean, and the check-in process was quick and easy. The staff were extremely welcoming, which made the experience even better. The room was spacious, featuring two comfortable queen-size beds and a fully functioning kitchen — perfect for families or anyone who likes the option to cook. The bathroom was spotless, and the entire space felt fresh and well maintained. One of the highlights was how peaceful it was. The room faced the garden, so there was no outside noise, making it easy to relax and rest. The beds were very comfortable, ensuring a good night’s sleep. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone staying in NY, especially families, since having a kitchen adds so much convenience.

- Maria Eugenia (6/5): Ruidoso - La amplitud de la suite Hubo trabajo de remodelación en el cuarto de al lado y en otro cercano. Nos despertaron 2 días los ruidos de martillos y taladros y siguieron haciendo ruido todo el tiempo. Cuando pedimos cambio nos dijeron que iba a ser lo mismo en otro cuarto!

- rrsimon (10/5): BEst hotel in the city - This hotel is the best I have stayed in while in NYC. I have been here before and will return. I have no clue how anyone would rate this below a 5 star. The front desk people like Laura, and others are superb. Cleaning of my room was done by Kat and was emaculate. It is unquestionably the best deal for the money. Robert Simon,M.D.
