- Tlee29615 (2/5): Grossest Hotel Experience We’ve Ever Had - The hotel is in a great location, but unfortunately, the cleanliness and customer service were terrible. When we first arrived, the bidet had dirty towels in it and the bathroom floor clearly had not been cleaned properly. We went out to explore Rome, and housekeeping supposedly “fixed” the issues while we were gone. After a long day, we came back to the room around midnight and discovered that two of the beds had obviously dirty sheets covered in other people’s hair — not just a stray hair or two, but enough to make it clear the sheets had not been changed at all. It was disgusting. I went to the front desk, and the employee told me she needed photos before she could send housekeeping. So at midnight, I had to go back upstairs, take multiple pictures, and bring them back down. She never even looked at them. Eventually, she sent a very kind maintenance/housekeeping gentleman upstairs to help change the sheets, and he was the only bright spot in the experience. What shocked me most was the complete lack of concern from management or staff. No one called afterward to check on us, apologize, or make sure the situation was resolved. The next morning, no one acknowledged it at all. While waiting for our taxi, I asked for a bottle of water and was told I would need to buy one from the vending machine. I stay at Hilton properties often and am Diamond for Life, so I’ve experienced many hotels over the years. We had just come from the James Suite in Florence, which I highly recommend, and the difference in hospitality was night and day. I have honestly never been treated this poorly at a Hilton, and experiences like this are what make loyal customers consider switching brands.
- T1308VVtimb (10/5): Everything We Needed in a Great Location - GREAT LOCATION ! We were able to walk everywhere including the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, and the Spanish Steps. The Vatican and St Peter's Square were about a 35 minute walk. The hotel building was originally built in 1891 so it is not as accessible as newer hotels. There is an elevator but some steps are required to get around the hotel. Rooms are modern and clean but lacking in space to unpack or put things away. Our fourth floor room was comfortable and very quiet. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The rooftop breakfast area had great views. The food the was well stocked and had a good variety to choose from. The two people working every morning were welcoming and quick with your coffee. Thanks for getting us off to a good start every day!

Given the location in close walking proximity to the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, etc. the fact that the room was very clean and well organized including the bathroom and the staff was very friendly and accommodating, this hotel was perfect for our Rome stay. The room rate for mid-week I felt was a good value. However the room rate for the weekend was more than double (we stayed mid-week). Given the location, the modern rooms, cleanliness, and friendly staff, I will give this 5 stars.

Our room was quite spacious, a size that's understandable when you're in the center of a city like Rome. Breakfast with a wonderful view. The staff is always smiling and friendly.

- 468kodyg (2/5): Not worth it, look elsewhere! - One of the worst hotel stays we’ve had. This property is nowhere near worth the cash rate or the points required. It felt more like a roadside motel than a Hilton, and the room looked nothing like the photos. Despite being a Diamond member, we were denied an upgrade and moved to a room with a sofa bed on a floor accessible only by stairs, which was extremely inconvenient while travelling with two young children and prams. On the first night the electricity repeatedly cut out, frightening one of our children. The front desk showed little concern and offered no real solution. A thoroughly disappointing stay. We would not return and would advise others to look elsewhere.

- Sherryl (4/5): Uncomfortable, cannot recommend, not vale for money. - The room was clean. The bed was comfortable but the pillows were terrible. The shower was good and the water was hot. The staff were friendly although often had no answers about the area. No public area to sit, maybe have a drink. No restaurant worthy of the name. Breakfast: no fresh fruit, tired scrambled egg and bacon, very small area. Lift absolutely tiny, plus stairs to climb to get to the lift and more stairs between the lift exit and the actual floor. Room badly laid out and uncomfortable. Reception who recommended restaurants that were closed. Hard to believe it’s 4 star. What you get is a bed and a bathroom.
- sherryl154 (2/5): Not value for money, over priced, just a room - I cannot recommend this hotel. It was an uncomfortable stay. I’m not sure that it should have 4 stars. We traveled as a family, all adults. We booked a room each. As a Hilton, and as 4 stars, we expected a public lounge area with a small bar - there is none. We were told there was a roof top bar / restaurant with a view - it was only open for breakfast, no other time. So we had to be ‘out and about’ all the time. Breakfast was not at all a Hilton breakfast. The rooms are small, no coffee maker, shabby and small. The lift is tiny, 3 people without their suitcases! Reception were unable to recommend any places nearby for dinner or breakfast that were open. The place they recommend for dinner still hadn’t opened after 3 days. The cafe next to the hotel was described as ‘not at all nice but they sell coffee’. Trying to be fair, the rooms are clean, the shower works, and it is close to the Colliseum and the Trevi Fountain.

- tommyjP4383FT (10/5): Great Stay! - We spent 3 days in this small but cozy hotel. Their location is top-notch! We were able to get to all the places we wanted to see in just a few minutes, and that makes all the difference for my wife and I. We booked a queen room, and it wasn't very spacious, but that wasn't a big problem for us because we spent entire days exploring the city. Having traveled extensively in Europe, I can say that I've had rooms of similar size even in the center of Madrid and Paris, so I think it's something to expect in European capitals. The staff was super friendly, they answered our many questions and suggested tons of great things to do. Highly recommended if you want to avoid public transportation.

- 588jurgenr (8/5): Location, location, location … - The main attraction about the Cosmopolita hotel is its location as it truly sits in the heart of Rome. Furthermore, the beds are comfortable (even the pillows were nice) and the rooms were clean. So why not the maximum rating: the breakfast was not very high quality, the rooms were small and a bit noisy. Note for people with wheelchairs: the elevator dos not go all the way to the fifth floor where the breakfast is being served.
- carlapR304MS (10/5): Home in Rome - Hotel Cosmopolita - The best location! We arrived very early, and the front desk staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. They kindly stored our luggage and even called us before the official check-in time — despite it being the busy season! The staff are wonderfully multicultural and speak several languages, which made communication so easy and pleasant. The hotel’s location is absolutely perfect for exploring all the must-see sights of Rome. We could hardly stay in our room knowing that the breathtaking Roman ruins were just a two-minute walk away. We’ve heard some people mention that the rooms are small, but honestly, nothing compares to the charm and character of staying in a beautiful historical building right in the heart of Rome. Don’t miss the stunning view while having breakfast on the rooftop terrace and it’s truly unforgettable! I’ll definitely be back to explore more and experience the city like a local!

- sirim244 (10/5): Why stay anywhere else? - If you’ve been frantically searching for just the right hotel for your stay in Rome, look no farther. For our 6 days in Rome, we wanted a clean hotel that had a good, walkable location with breakfast included. Hotel Cosmopolita was all of that and more! The location is fantastic. I don’t know why you would want to stay anywhere else. It felt like everything took 20 min–or less–to walk to. The people staffing the front desk were super helpful. They gave us tourist advice, called us taxis, and gave us a great overview of the city. Breakfast was terrific with views out towards Trajan’s Forum. They always had gluten-free rolls for us. (NOTE: there was a half flight of stairs to walk up to get there.) For meal planning purposes, the elevator even noted what times of the morning were the least busy. -Our best tip: visit the Domus Museum (Domus Romane di Palazzo Valentini) before visiting the Forum. It’s just a block and a half from the hotel. It appears that tours are every hour on the hour. Don’t know why this isn’t a major tourist destination. It has the benefit of being out of the sun and cool. Glass floors allow you to walk right on top of the ruins and a light and sound show (VR/AI) brings them back to life, allowing you to see what a life of luxury would have looked and sounded like in ancient Rome. (Spoiler: it was basically what it is today – a home gym, hot tub, and private swimming pool.) It was the highlight of our stay. -What we would do differently: after walking 20,000+ steps each day of our visit, I think one of the custom golf cart tours would have made a lot of sense. The hotel is able to book them for you and they’ll go wherever you ask them to. -To note: you might have to wait a while to get into the Basilica of St. Mary Major (where Pope Francis is buried). The first time we tried, it was over an hour wait. -We visited from May 20 - 26. We bought timed tickets for the earliest possible times whenever we could and the city honestly didn’t feel that crowded at all. It also let us come back to the hotel for a mid-day refresh if we wanted to. -Gluten-free traveler tips: Grom for gelato; Pizza in Trevi for lunch/dinner – try the mortadella pizza; Rissotteria Melotti Roma. Most grocery stores in the city (most of the groceries in Italy, in fact) carried a section of gluten-free products. We stashed some rolls and snacks iin our bags for train trips, etc.
- Andrea_Watson76 (6/5): Great Location - I stayed here on 27th September. The guy at the desk was very pleasant. I arrived quite late at 11:30pm. I checked out to start my day of sightseeing at 06:20am. I stayed in room 120. The Air Conditioning in the room worked very well as the room was freezing when I arrived. I managed to warm the room up quite quickly. The room itself was fine, very clean, nice toiletries. I managed to get the room with my Hilton Honors points, otherwise the room would have been €560 for the night. It definitely was not worth that much. The location was great. I did get breakfast including but I checked out before breakfast so I am unable to comment on that. I would stay again if the price was cheaper as the area was fantastic.

They also knew it was our honeymoon and delivered a bottle of prosecco and biscotti which made us so happy on our last night in italy! so we appreciated that a lot ! no complaints!

- Whataview76 (8/5): Great stay in the heart of Rome. - We stayed here one night after flying in late morning and before heading to the cruise port for the cruise. Our experience was nothing but good. Check-in staff were very helpful and kind. The room was modern, clean and had some great A/C. And then we used the breakfast in the AM which was good and easy. I was prepared to be disappointed by the hotel but know I was close to attraction, but we got both. We easily walked to many sights without a problem. Great overall stay. only negative is you pay for the location convenience, that's for sure!
- christopherhL8767SK (2/5): Horrible Air Conditioning and Terrible Management - DO NOT stay here. General manager would not respond effectively to our pleas for help. Being forced to stay here due to lack of refund if we would check out. Upon entry, the room air conditioning was already running at full power but the room was still very warm and did not cool effectively. • We requested assistance. A staff member (the luggage attendant) adjusted the controls, turning the system to a higher temperature and the fans off. I corrected the attendant but unfortunately he did not speak English. • When maintenance arrived they indicated the fans were not on high and I had explained what had just occurred with the luggage attendant incorrectly adjusting the air conditioning. The core issue remained that the AC has not been cooling the room effectively since our arrival (in the room now for approximately 2 hours with no relief). • We asked for a different room, but were told the hotel is sold out. We then requested a refund to check out and go elsewhere. We were offered a complimentary breakfast instead, which unfortunately does not resolve the problem. Then we were offered a 50 Euro decrease in price, this is all that can be done. Kimberly, the manager on site said this is all that can be done when she spoke to the general manager. We have a member of our family that has a chronic health condition and we had a concern that the heat will not help the situation. They would not even acknowledge our concern. This hotel is horrible, on site manager Kimberley is unable to make a decision without talking to the general manager and generally unhelpful. I stated, If you pay for a service with an expectation (they advertise AC) and they can’t fulfill the service, you need to be allowed your money back. We just wanted to check out and go somewhere else within 45 minutes of checking in; we were not asking for a discounted room! This hotel and general manager was so greedy and put money before guest safety and comfort. One last thing, the sink does not drain.

- steveandamyg (10/5): Perfect spot for exploring Rome - We stayed at this quaint property during our 4-night visit to Rome, and it was a great choice! The location is fantastic—right in the heart of the city and within walking distance of iconic spots like the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, and the Roman Forum. The neighborhood felt safe and was mostly quiet, except for a few kids running down the hallway to get to the breakfast area on our floor, but it was not a big deal. There are tons of great dining options nearby, and our room was surprisingly spacious—even with a king bed and an extra chair/bed. Everything was modern and super clean, and the staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. The air conditioning was a lifesaver in the July heat! We were on the 5th floor, and while there is an elevator, you do have to navigate a few steps to reach the actual floor. It’s a bit tricky with luggage, but honestly, that’s pretty typical for many European hotels—just something to keep in mind and adapt to.

I was worried when I read the other reviews and after staying here I’m wondering if we stayed at the same hotel. We stayed on the 5th floor in a quiet, modern room facing the inner courtyard. It was a King room with a chair bed and I thought it was a decent size for three of us. Truthfully we were only in the room to sleep so I wasn’t expecting any amenities other than a clean, comfortable room with a/c. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful and gave good restaurant recommendations. You can walk to Trevi fountain in 8 min, coliseum in 10. We also walked to the Vatican but that was a little far. (45 min). I would stay here again for a short trip to explore Rome. Yes, there is only one elevator but we didn’t wait very long. We got breakfast in the run- did not bother with the breakfast which was 25 euro a person.

We knew the room would be smaller than what we are used to, but these rooms were a decent size. We had a room with two twins and a room with a bed and sofa sleeper. The elevator is small and the stairs are spiral shaped. We took the stairs almost every time (all that pasta and gelato), stayed on the 4th floor. The AC worked really well. The onsite breakfast is overpriced and not great, we have had better. The cafe attached to the hotel makes great coffee and the wine and food was good too. The location of this hotel can’t be beat, short walk to pretty much everything. Staff was helpful and pleasant. Will definitely stay again the next time we are in Rome.

Didn’t dare try the lift due to other reviews so couldn’t comment on that aspect, or the ice machine. Yes, water temperature erratic in the bathroom. When in the bathroom you can also here a conversation in the next room, word for word! We asked reception to book us a taxi for an event at the Auditorium Parco Musica that we had booked but were told that we couldn’t book in advance, so asked us to leave it till 15 minutes before required, which we did. The taxi arrived on time. The venue is 5km away from the hotel and out of the way somewhat. It would have been nice for reception to give us a little local knowledge And enquire as to how we were going to get back?? Long story short, we had to walk, as even uber wouldn’t work. No Taxi ranks available! Hotel is overpriced and lacking
- carolbG2945CE (6/5): Disappointing Stay - Paid for a 4* Hotel, but it did not Deliver a 4* Expierience - To start, the hotel lacked the elegance and grandeur typically associated with Hilton’s four-star establishments. Instead of walking into a grand lobby, guests are greeted by a neon sign and artificial greenery, with staff seated behind computer screens at a large desk—not the most inviting first impression. While the hotel staff was friendly and helpful, providing recommendations for local restaurants and attractions, as well as offering to make reservations for dining or golf cart tours, the overall experience fell far short of a four-star Hilton property in Rome. Despite being a Hilton Diamond member, recognition was minimal, limited to bottled water and breakfast. No room upgrade was offered, nor did we receive any exclusive perks. T The absence of an onsite restaurant was disappointing, and the breakfast was underwhelming, especially considering the premium rates. Having stayed at multiple Hilton properties during our two-week vacation, we expected a much higher standard. In comparison, the Grand Hotel Villa Toretta in Milan far exceeded expectations, whereas the Cosmopolita felt more like a Hampton Inn masquerading as a four-star Hilton, at a Hilton price. Additionally, there was not even a minibar or convenient food options, aside from a half-empty vending machine. When I attempted to bring a yogurt to our room for my husband before an early tour, I was refused a spoon—no silverware was provided, and disposable utensils weren’t an option either. This was a first for me in all my years of traveling, especially at a Hilton. We inquired about the golf cart tour the staff had told us to consider to get pricing and availability. We were told the hotel would call us while we were out, but we never received a call, and by the time we returned, the person was gone. There was no message or attempt to follow up. Finally, accessibility is a concern. If you cannot climb stairs, this hotel is not a viable option, unless you limit yourself to the first floor and forgo breakfast. Overall, the hotel and its breakfast area are in need of a facelift. While the staff was friendly, the property itself simply did not deliver on its four-star Hilton promise.
- FarAway06113986308 (6/5): Proximity to tourist sites versus onsite restaurant trade-off... - Went to the hotel as a family and booked two rooms and taxi transfers to and from the airport, through the hotel. Taxi transfers worked perfectly and hotel was easy to communicate with, in English. Taxi fares to and from the airport are fixed and reasonable value for money. Random taxis about town are a rip off and I anticipated this which is why I booked this hotel - it is within reasonable walking distance of all the major attractions and even just a 45 min walk to the Vatican. 15 mins from the Colosseum, 15 mins from the Pantheon and Trevi Fountain, 20 mins from Spanish Steps. If you are looking to hit all the tourist spots without paying for transportation then this is a perfect option. The hotel has excellent staff and the rooms are clean and well appointed with plenty of pillows. The air conditioning is excellent and the showers and bathroom are relatively new and there is good hot water. There are power outlets with USBA and USBC connectors next to the ned and a table in the room so no need necessarily for plug adapters. The hotel printed out attraction tickets for me without fuss and were happy to help at all times. There is a breakfast room and the breakfast is good quality with helpful staff on the fifth floor roof terrace which is enclosed. They offer to make you tea and coffee and the buffet is standard Italian options but good quality. The cooked breakfast is a reasonable attempt but not really up to much. I stuck to the continental options and juices. The main downside to this hotel is that there is no room service or on-site restaurant for lunch/dinner. There was a vending machine but it was poorly stocked and had, for instance, no coke zero and was only filled up on our last day. There is a fridge in your room to keep drinks (and as a Diamond member, I got 2 bottles of water per day), which is good, but if you want food then you need to go out and get it, which I find very inconvenient. The hotel did what I selected it for - got me close to the tourist sites for 3 days, but after my trip I think I would rather go somewhere that has a restaurant and room service and travel a bit further that stay again at this hotel but that is my personal preference based on wanting some time in my room without needing to go out for food rather than because the hotel was, in any way, poor quality. Overall, nice hotel in the centre of Rome but to get close to the attractions, you sacrifice the ability for room service and a restaurant. It is your own personal choice which one you value most.

Must be something better in Rome at this price point
- asilemeter (10/5): Excellent service and location - The room was updated and Americanized, I wasn’t specifically looking for this but did want air conditioning during our visit to see our kiddo during study abroad. We stayed nine days and toured around. The room was large enough for our kid to take a break from the sorority clones she got stuck boarding with. Excellent front desk and breakfast staff, great service and so helpful. Beautiful view at rooftop breakfast cafe. Exceptionally comfortable, clean room and great amenities. Very quiet even though we were adjacent to an excavation site - fascinating. The location can’t be beat - it’s literally between ruins and Le Domus Romane di Palazzo Valentini - just astounding! No complaints!
- bettyhA9616IQ (8/5): Nice Hotel - The hotel was good for us. Close to almost every attraction and restaurant all within a walking distance. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable with an excellent AC system. Downsides, the TV doesn't have many English channels and no way to stream or screen mirror to. The room was a good size but not enough space for clothing especially if your stay is a long one. Being centrally located, it does take in a some noise from the streets especially after 1am from a bar nearby but not overly loud. Being higher up from the ground level helps eliminate some of it. Overall, we had a very pleasant 10 day holiday.

- Neuron (10/5): - i lost and could not find two hundred euro in the room in my wallet soon after i re enter the hotel after i checked in and left my luggage there. i initially thought the hotel staff might have taken it when i left the room and left the money in my back pack. since i thought it was my carelessness and my own fault and i had myself to blame so i did not say a word to the hotel. days later, a few hours after i checked out, i got an email from the hotel frint desk saying the staff found two hundred euros in my room. that is concrete evidence that the hotel staff was honest, upright and professional. guests will be safe and well taken care of in the hotel. i highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel is clean, comfortable and well maintained. We received a lovely welcome and were given lots of helpful advice and help with restaurant bookings. Would definitely recommend and would love to return.

- CW2022dfg (8/5): A Positive Experience - We stayed at the hotel for 5 nights this week and enjoyed our time there. A huge benefit of this hotel is the location. We were able to walk to every major attraction, even the Vatican (35 min away), and we're out of shape 60 year olds. Our room was quiet and clean but small, so quite suitable for a couple but unlikely to work well for a family. As mentioned in previous reviews, the hotel has multiple steps (to the elevator, to our room, to breakfast) and therefore is not suitable for someone who has mobility challenges. There were no wash clothes for bathing so if that's important to you, bring your own. Our room was quite warm the first night, but upon request we were provided with a fan and it worked great. We found the staff to be accommodating and friendly. For a couple who intends to be out and about all day seeing the sites of Rome, we would recommend this hotel without hesitation!

Shower stall was ridiculous, bathroom was decent size, but shower stall was so small. Uncomfortable to shower, asked to change rooms and only option was not much better. Definitely will stay elsewhere next time in Rome.

We were given a room on the 5th floor which was great for us! There was a lift then about 10 steps to get to the room. We had our 2 year old with us but this was fine. The room was spacious and had a big enough bed for the 3 of us to sleep (they did have another bed made up for us too). We had breakfast in the hotel for ease. The setting had lovely views and the food was good too! All staff we came across were very friendly too.

- mindfulday (10/5): The Best Location! - Wow, this place was great! The location alone is worth the stay. You can get to most of the best sites in Rome in a ten minute walk. The hotel is in an old building, so yes, there are long hallways and you might have to walk up five steps to get to your floor (we didn't - I think only one floor had that). But the room we had was spacious by European standards and had everything we needed. The staff was beyond helpful. They offered to double check all of our dinner reservations to make sure everything was in order - a huge plus since we were there over Christmas. The lobby is understated, but functional. They don't heat the 4th floor, but instead give you a small space heater. Even with the 14 foot ceilings it kept our room warm. Lastly, the breakfast was awesome and you were on the top of the building. The views were picture worthy.

Just a terrible hotel with a terrible attitude. - We are very experienced travelers and have stayed at many Hilton hotels over the past five years. We are diamond members. We are very familiar will all Hilton brands. This is by far the worst Hilton we have stayed at in many many years. So many issues with this hotel. Entire block was closed off for construction making access difficult. Staff never notified us about the construction and were unhelpful and untruthful about the construction. Rooms cold and dirty. No heat, they gave us a space heater! Heated towel bars did not work even though they are pictured in their hotel listing. The "coffee making" facilities advertized in the room were a small hot pot and instant coffee! In Italy instant coffee! The breakfast was very mediocre and we found dirty dishes among clean plates numerous times. We both got sick. No real lobby. Front reception people sat behind their computer screens at a desk more concerned with their phones than the clients. No real management at the hotel. It is a nice location but just a terrible hotel. Stay far far away.
- Summer (8/5): - Great hotel walking distance to many historic sites, restaurants and shopping. Staff were very friendly and assisted with restaturant recommendations and directions. Great cafe next door also. I would just recommend carpeting in hallways and rooms to allow less noise transfer as you can easily hear anything going on in the hallways, especially when trying to sleep. I would stay again though due to the convenience.
- Harold (6/5): - First and foremost you are paying for the location. It is very central and extremely walkable to many key locations. The cleanliness is average. We stayed for a week and there are a few occasions that they did not resupply the coffee, sugar and toilet paper. The front staff were polite, but occasionally apathetic. If you are looking for hotel transfer, there's a flat fee of 55 Euro to and from the airport. However they will prompt you to use their car service which is 80 Euro cash, or 88 Euro by credit card. The ride is about 35 min by car. Public transport is a nightmare after a long travel day. The building is old but tidy, and the single elevator will accommodate only 4 adults. The fire alarm goes off not infrequently, and it usually a false alarm. The rooms are tiny but North American standards. There is very little space for your luggage. We had a room with a pull out sofa bed and that's were we kept our luggage. We have had the benefit of staying in 4-5 star locations all over the world. This is a 3-star accommodation in a 5-star location.

Attendant kept bins stocked and had good coffee, eggs, ham (bacon), cold cuts, breads and pastries. Breakfast was good enough to get you going in the morning, Remember you don't want tyo load up at hotel, since part of the awesome Italy experience while you're out and about visiting sites you want to try the local small pastries shops and coffee, sweets and gelato... so don't fill up at hotel Although room was a good size compared to other european hotels our room at the Cosmopolita didn't have any drawers so basically spent three days with clothes in suitcase.

- Noorhan (5/5): Clean and Central Hotel; Small Rooms - I think the only thing I liked about the property was the location and that it was clean hotel. Rooms are the sizes of matchboxes, walls are paper thin, you can hear conversations from next door at 2am. When I asked for an upgrade and would happily pay, they claimed they didn’t have but it was available on their website and bookings. I think the staff was not bothered with the process of changing. If you’re planning to stay just for the location then it’s fine, after a long day of walking around room you kind of want to spread out and relax which was not possible in the way the room was designed. I would also like to comment that the pictures provided on the bookings.com don’t reflect the actual size and look a lot more spacious.
