The historic building and the decoration are very striking, but the whole hotel is still very comfortable. No breakfast available on premises, even if the available coffee and tea are excellent.

• Jan (8/5): Prima hotel goed gelegen en prima prijs. - Heel mooi oud authentiek hotel met alle middelen van nu. Eigenlijk niets. Er is geen lift vanwege het oude pand handig om te weten voor andere bezoekers.
• Timothy (7/5): Great bed for the night for a NYC break - Good location, good room, peaceful considering it is very central - good travel links. Would recommend. Be aware the hotel is light on amenities - lounge was never open and the mexican restaurant is also currently closed - luckily plenty of other local options. It would be good to just get a drink in the hotel and sit in a comfy chair. The website potentially a bit misleading.

Se escucha todo lo que ocurre en la habitación de al lado. La cama tampoco es como sale en la foto. No tiene sábana, directamente nórdico. No te dejan ni siquiera una botella de agua, de amenity. Dejé el cartel para que me hiciesen la habitación y no entró nadie. De noche encontré tal cual el cartel lo había dejado colgando del pomo de la puerta. Espero esto pueda ayudar a mantener los standards de calidad de booking. El hotel debería ser trasparente con lo que está ofreciendo. Si llego a saber que ese era el cuarto de baño, no me alojo en este hotel. Gracias

The bedroom was lit by an Edison bulb and small spotlight lights that all cast orangey-yellow hues and did not properly illuminate the room, making reading at night headache-inducing. Even the bathroom was lit by the same yellow-ish lighting.

They showed me “the roomtype I booked” but really it was a much smaller room. So this was really misleading so they practically forced me to take the larger and more expensive room. It was a really bad experience to start with.

Rooms have good AC, nice firm comfortable beds, elongated toilets, hot showers and coffee available in the morning. Decor is very interesting shabby sheik and don't forget to say hi to Hermin on your way down the stairs. Plenty of good restaurants, coffee, and access to transit nearby. Nothing comes to mind.

Everything provided by your hotel was excellent and each and every one of the hotel staff we encountered were very professional, considerate, and quick to help us out (e.g., carrying luggage up to our room, recommending places to eat/drink, housekeeping, etc.). We are already looking forward to our next stay.

I would have given a five-star review, but the room we stayed in was right on the intersection of Bowery and Broome, and the noise was constant. We did not have restful sleep any of the three nights we were there. Besides that (which was something the hotel couldn’t do much about), the rooms were very clean and comfortable. The location is really great and right in the center of Chinatown and Little Italy. There’s a ton of great stuff right in the area, and if you want to do something farther away, the nearest subway stations are a five to ten minute walk away.

When we complained about the thermostat in the room not working, the lady got a heater for my room. When I asked the front desk for tea they got hot water and milk. I didnt like that we had to walk up 3 flights because there was no elevator. I didn’t like that fact that the thermostat wasn’t properly working. It was cold that first night so my husband was very cold. I was glad that the next day was warmer and so we didn’t have to deal with cold temps but we had the heater if we need it.

The shower had a leak that was damaging the dry wall and had clearly been avoided. Details were missed around the room which felt careless. There were no amenities at all.

• Erin (7/5): Great location and super cheap, would stay again! - Great location, only 10 minutes to the Brooklyn Bridge and a couple of minutes from a train stop. Super affordable cost, can’t complain for the price we paid! Work was being done in the hotel (I believe upgrading rooms so hopefully the cheaper rooms get this treatment soon), it was unbearably loud but the staff kindly moved me to an upgraded room (free of charge), to get away from the noise. This room was much more modern with so much room! Just be advised the cheapest rooms are very small and in need of updating. These rooms are also very basic with nowhere to put clothes or luggage BUT the cost reflects this and I WOULD stay again!

• Avril (6/5): Comfortable, clean for New York - Great interior, great location very clean, the outside and lobby area is spacious and comfortable. I really appreciated the beds and towels being changed everyday. Absolutely nowhere to hang clothes, toilets dated and tiny. Also I with the other reviews about the lack of coffee/ fridge in the room would have been nice. My final comment is the lack of toilet facilities in the lobby wasn’t amazing for us to freshen up/ change before our long flight; put a stress to the start of the journey home.

• Breen (10/5): It was my nieces 16th Birthday and the hotel experience was great. The staff was amazing and super accommodating! So man - Very Fun for photos! The heaters get hot but those are NY heaters. Putting the air on made the room feel comfortable. So no complaints.
• tzee05 (6/5): Don't Book a Standard Room Unless You're Hard of Hearing - FYI: When you book a standard room, beware that the walls between your room and the adjacent rooms are tissue thin. I could hear EVERYTHING in the next room including the person going through his packages. Then he started hacking and coughing so I immediately asked for a room change. It seems to be a common issue because the room upgrade contract sheets were waiting at the desk when I walked up to deal with it. Also, if you are told that the upgrade is a certain price, you will also see additional charges such as taxes per day and a Service Fee charge per day which was $25.

The highlight for me was the heated floor in the bathroom. What an amazing feature! Great location as well. Note that there are no elevators in the hotel so if mobility is an issue you may want to skip this one.

• traveller4190 (10/5): Great Stay with A Few Quirks - I really enjoyed my stay at Sohotel and would recommend it to any family or friends headed to New York and looking for a place to stay... with a few FYIs. The hotel does not have an elevator. Keep that in mind if you have mobility issues or will have a lot of luggage. The lobby is also located on the second floor. I would consider the rooms very 'open concept'. If you are the kind of person who likes to unpack in a chest of drawers or a traditional closet, you won't find that here. The rooms have open shelving and an open closet, so there is still room to unpack and hang items, but not in a traditional sense. The bathroom was so warm - literally. The floor was heated! Such a nice surprise when visiting in the winter. The amenities were so luxe I wish I could have taken them home with me! The lighting in the room wasn't the greatest. If you're looking for a place to work or read before bed, there isn't really a desk(or wasn't in my room type) and the only 'bedside' lighting was on the ceiling in my room - 20ft above me. The atmosphere around the hotel was relatively relaxed and there wasn't much outside noise. I also barely heard other guests! A huge positive for me. The last thing I do want to say is the pillow situation is actually quite awful. You could probably squish one pillow to the size of a small melon. Luckily I was traveling alone so I stacked all the pillows up for myself. If you need a supportive pillow, I'd consider bringing your own.
• D8450RQtracyw (10/5): Stylish and historic hotel, great service, comfortable rooms - The location was perfect, rooms were stylish and plenty of space. It was quiet and the beds were comfortable, we slept very well. The bathrooms were heated floors and wonderful shower. The design was historic and modern mixed. The staff was very helpful and friendly.
