• Dana (2/5): Caveat Emptor - Front desk clerk was very nice, there late at night and early morning. Helpful and accommodating. Communication was good prior to arrival. Location proximity to Paddington Station. Clean sheets and towels were about the only clean thing there. Good water pressure in sink and toilet. Temperature was comfortable for a 4th floor room. Difficult access from lift around 2 corners, down 3 steps in a VERY narrow "hall" to room door. Clearly used to be the attic/servant's quarters and had hardly been updated since. Arrived to housekeeping sitting on floor outside room, sorting towels and sheets on the floor from adjacent closet. Mattress was absolutely abysmal, the worst I've ever tried to sleep on. It was not stable when sitting, much less lying down. It was thin, old and completely worn out. It had to have been over 30 years old. Mattress foundation hardly could support 2 average adults. Pillows had seen better days as well. Ripped, burned curtains. Filthy windows. Crusty TV remote with missing battery cover. Stained furniture. Microscopic bathroom size with ill-functioning cabinetry. Afraid to try the shower. Bathroom door would not close properly. Only 1 chair for a "double" room. Barely enough space to turn around in.

The staff were really friendly and helpful. There are good restaurants nearby. We would have preferred a room on a higher floor but given that we had to book on the day of arrival and arrived late in the day we accepted a basement room who’d had little daylight.

• Karadimova (8/5): Would recommend for overnight / short stay - The place is super close to Paddington and it’s a great hotel for a short stay. I agree with other comments that the rooms might be a bit small for big suitcases but if you’re traveling with a backpack it’s perfect! Had a great sleep as well. Everything was super comfortable, the room and bathroom clean and the reception staff friendly. I most definitely recommend. And it was an amazing value for money.

• Flavia (5/5): Only the location is a positive in this hotel - The location is great, but that's the only good thing about this hotel. Oh, and they changed the towels (even though in modern times we're used to being asked, for sustainability reasons; then again, the towels were so cheap that changing was inevitable). Where should I start? The hotel is gloomy, outdated, and doesn’t feel clean. The room is extremely small, the air conditioning barely works, and there are no instructions on how to use it. It was very hot inside, and the window wouldn’t open at all. The bathroom looks incredibly old—like something out of an elderly relative’s house. There’s nowhere to even place a toothbrush on the sink. The toiletries and towels are very cheap; I honestly hadn’t seen toiletries of this quality in years. The carpet, both in the room and throughout the hotel, is worn down and looks like it hasn’t been properly cleaned in ages. The same goes for the curtains, which seem like they haven’t been washed in years. The lights were so unreliable—some working, others not—that we half expected it to be the ghosts of past guests playing tricks. The reception staff seemed disengaged: no smile, no greeting, barely any acknowledgment of our presence (the cleaning lady, however, was kind). When I asked whether breakfast was included, the man at reception simply said, “No breakfast. There are coffee shops on the street.” After seeing the room, I was honestly relieved not to have breakfast there. But none of this compares to the beds. The mattresses were so uneven and worn out that you would roll into dips and almost get stuck. They genuinely felt decades old—lumpy to the point of feeling like they were filled with hay. I have never slept on mattresses in such poor condition. It almost became a joke—but paying nearly €1,000 for a double and a triple room for two nights and ending up in a hotel like this certainly wasn’t.

Very small bathroom, with very poor small shower, access to it was very tight and once in could hardly move. Room very small couldn't open the door fully to access it as there was a cupboard behind the door.
• Mariangela Alessia (8/5): Soggiorno piacevole e ben posizionato - Ho soggiornato presso l’Hotel Edward a Paddington e nel complesso l’esperienza è stata discreta. La posizione è sicuramente il punto forte: molto comoda, ben collegata con metro e autobus e vicina a Paddington Station, utile per i collegamenti da e per l’aeroporto. Anche Hyde Park è facilmente raggiungibile ed è un parco bellissimo. Lo staff è stato molto gentile e disponibile, e ci hanno permesso di mangiare in camera o nella lobby, cosa molto apprezzata. La struttura è semplice e un po’ datata, con camere piccole ma funzionali per soggiorni brevi. La stanza era leggermente stretta per tre persone e qualche centimetro in più avrebbe aiutato a sistemare meglio le valigie. Le finestre erano leggere ma isolavano comunque bene dal freddo. Il cuscino era molto sottile, tipo “sottiletta”. Pulizia e comfort nella media. Colazione non disponibile.

Everything looked a bit old, shabby. The TV remote and two lamps didn't work at the beginning. The issue with one lamp and the remote was solves on the day I reported it though. The rooms weree extremely small.

The room was dirty and when I complained at asked for a refund this was refused despite the inconvenience of having to cancel my plans and go home a day earlier. Everything the hotel was shabby, my room was very dirty and grim Their was not adequate bedding and the toilet constantly gurgled. The shower was unclean the whole experience was awful. The website has lovely photos of the hotel but this is false advertising don't be tricked. Avoid.
