• Franknstan (4/5): An unpleasant experience - It's not a very nice hotel!! Needs a definite clean and make over. It's sad, tired, and neglected. When you go away, you expect some comfort. This hotel has none. Breakfast was very basic. The staff were nice and helpful but sadly they don't have the tools to provide a better stay. It's such a shame because Naples is such a beautiful place to visit.
• W7420IArebeccab (10/5): Great Hotel, would stay again - I have just come back from a week long stay at the Caravaggio Hotel. A solo traveller and my first time in Naples. It was perfect for what I was looking for. Really central location so easy to get to all museums, places of interest, train station, port, etc. The rear entrance to the Duomo is directly to the right of the Hotel entrance. Even though it is central it is calm and tranquil in a square off the main Via dei Tribunale, so a welcome haven from the pace of the City. The staff are all fabulous, helpful, friendly and very professional. They were really helpful and supportive with a problem I had with an airport taxi transfer company I had made the mistake of booking with. Rooms are cleaned every day to a high standard by two really lovely ladies. My room was spacious with all I could ask for. A double bed, wardrobe, fridge, tv, in room safe and a spacious bathroom. Plenty of clean towels provided daily. Breakfast is a good continental with plenty on offer, including my much needed morning cup of tea, made for you on arrival to the breakfast area (all types of coffee also made if you prefer). I would stay here again and definitely recommend. Great value for money.

• Kimberly de (8/5): - Het hotel ligt in het hart van het historisch centrum aan een rustig hofje waar ook een beroemde kathedraal gelegen is. Het personeel is uiterst vriendelijk en behulpzaam. De kamers zijn erg ruim en niet gehorig wat fijn is in een drukke luide stad als Napels.
• 679lynng (10/5): Well worth staying here - We have just stayed for 3 nights at this small but charming hotel. The rooms were very spacious and plenty of towels. The reception staff were very welcoming every time we passed the desk. The breakfast was very good and the coffee excellent. Its based on a quiet square but literally minutes walk from endless bars and restaurants.

The hotel was secure so no worries abut non guests sneaking in either. Nice breakfast with freshly made proper coffee. Super big bathroom with large walk in shower and nice selection of toiletries.

• Venture11389715080 (10/5): Good hotel, excellent location - Was a bit concerned reading some of the reviews, but the hotel was great. We stayed in room 104 so had a view over the Via Dei Tribunali - great for people watching. The rooms were clean, the beds comfortable, the air-con worked, the staff and room service were lovely, breakfast was good, and the location is first rate - right in the center of the Historic Quarter. We have never been to Napoli before, but really enjoyed our break, and would definitely go back. The area is full of life, with places to visit, convenience shops, bakeries, and graffiti, but is very safe and friendly. Napoli is chaotic, but if you learn to embrace it you will have a great time.
• FRISKY111 (2/5): HORRIBLE HOTEL , STAY AWAY - STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE Absolutely the worst place in Napoli in my opinion... They are liars and thieves, I was told that I didn't return the keys to them, I had a taxi waiting outside to take me to the airport... I had given the keys to the desk clerk and turned to get my bags and leave, I had forgotten that there was a tax applied for each night and the clerk said that I needed to pay it and and return the keys, I said that I had just done so and he said that I hadn't... As I was in a rush to leave, I didn't realize what was going on. I know very well that I had given him the keys back but he said that I hadn't and a search ensued... I had locked the door on my way out, came straight to the front desk and gave him the keys, but he said that I hadn't, and that I would have to pay a hundred euro for the loss or I couldn't leave... I had to go to the airport and obviously didn't want the situation to escalate so I paid it. I realized that I was being scammed by these guys but I wasn't going to miss my flight. I was in Naples only to take a tour of Pompeii and herculean which I've always wanted to see...and owing to the tiny streets of the old city where this "hotel " is located, the tour bus couldn't get to my location ...the "owner " told me that he was happy to take me as it wasn't far... I assumed that he was being friendly with a tourist and followed him thinking we we going to his car... Turns into a twenty minute walk and then he wants me to pay him for his time and trouble... P.s. breakfast was supposed to be included with the room and when he asked me for ten euro he also informed me that I had to pay for the coffee as it was not included... I've never been scammed like this before in any of my travels anywhere.... Certainly left a bad taste in my mouth for Naples... Also they told me that the trip to the airport was twenty one euro, but the driver charged me thirty five... maybe this is not the first time they have pulled this... I had this scheduled as a side trip just for my visit to Pompeii, I had spent the previous days in Rome which was wonderful, I certainly wish I could say the same thing about the HORRIBLE HOTEL CARAVAGGIO

We had a shared very small balcony that has large cables running across the middle: The balcony was also shared by the room next door (very strange) Very shabby condition. In need of a good make over. Curtains hanging off one side. Hair dryer not working properly. Good location for the sightseeing. The staff were impeccable and very friendly, and always helpful. Were it not for the staff, this hotel would be pretty bad instead of okay. Breakfast was okay, but with limited options.
• EMcK96 (8/5): Not as dire as people seem to be suggesting - Excellent location and this is perhaps what made the review 4 stars, but it is a bit of a run down hotel. I wouldn’t say this is a 4 star hotel by British standards, more of a 3 star. Staff were friendly and helpful in my experience, and breakfast was reliable if not a little too sweet for me (and same food each day). If you’re not a hotel snob, and you can look past it being a bit dog eared, the hotel is excellent for those of you wanting to walk around the city and have a safe hotel to return to in the evenings. Finally, the pizza place on the main road blasts music into the early hours so if your window overlooks it, bring earplugs. Otherwise, most pharmacies will sell them for about €2.

Hoteller kunne godt bruge renovering og værelset er mørkt og der er meget larm, ligesom at det bliver utrolig varmt og aircondition larmer. Den parkering de henviser til, er forskellige garager som tager 40-45 euro pr dag for at holde din bil. Vi tog den som hoteller skrev lå tættest på (100 meter væk), den lå så 350 meter væk.

• davidgM4795ZN (6/5): NEVER A 4 STAR - I think Stevie Wonder rated this hotel, never in a million years is it 4 star, Booked here for 4 nights and before our arrival we decided to book a hotel for the night in Sorrento, thank god we did Room was very dated and could have been doing with a good lick of paint, room looked onto a very busy street, we hardly slept due to the constant noise of scooters and car horns, people shouting, loud music and dogs barking Bathroom was nice I must admit except for the window in the shower that opened up to a view of the CORRIDOR Corridors like the room could be doing with painting There was a door that should have opened up to an external staircase which I hope was not a fire exit as the door handle was broken off

Elle se situait sur la place où sont installées une trattoria et une pizzeria De plus au dessus de la chambre, il y avait une terrasse avec des plantes qui étaient arrosées tous les matins à partir de 6 h. Il serait judicieux de proposer des bouchons d'oreille et un masque pour la lumière au même titre que les produits pour les cheveux et le corps.

• Cruiser755615 (4/5): Never a 4 star hotel - This is never a 4 star hotel, the bed move during the night as we turned over leaving me slipping between them. The toilet seat was too small for the pan and was loose. The shower head leaked, both towel rails were hanging off the wall, there were electrical wires loose above the bathroom mirror that powered the mirror light. the cup holders in the bathroom were also loose and on one occasion turned over and deposited my tooth brush on the floor. The toilet flush was broken and once fell off the wall. The roof garden was locked off to guests and twice in the week we had to phone the hotel to let us in as the front door was locked. I would avoid this hotel at all costs

• Rosaria (6/5): - I’ll start by saying that all the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Our flight was delayed meaning we didn’t arrive to the hotel until half past midnight but we had no problems checking in. However, the condition of the hotel is really poor. Pretty much everywhere you look there’s cracks and holes in the walls, or they’re completely covered in scuff marks. Attempts have been made to fix the larger holes but nothing more than a very bad filling job with no attempt to redecorate it. The shower cubical was extremely small with nowhere to place shower gel/shampoo etc and the water temperature is not stable. The hotel is located down a pedestrian only road but is only a couple minutes walk to the main road. It’s a little tricky to find as it’s in a court yard and you can’t see the name of the hotel from the path, we walked past it a few times before realising where it was. Having said that it was in a great location with lots of restaurants and shops nearby.

Sanitaires bien en deçà des standard internationaux : salle d'eau aérée par une ventilation asthmatique dont la grille d'aération n'a pas été nettoyée depuis....Garibaldi ? Douche exigüe, bac plein de traces de tartre et de rouille, ameublement symbolique. Un 4 étoiles napolitain à peine à la hauteur d'un 1 étoile français et encore en anciennes normes. En fait un hôtel tout juste correct, destiné à constituer une halte pour des touristes épuisés, qu'une literie de caserne (qui fait des matelas aussi durs ?) ne rebute pas. Ceci étant, le personnel est accueillant et souriant.

• Gloria Cristina (8/5): Cómodo - El hotel está bien, ubicado en una calle muy concurrida pero no se escucha el ruido, por el día encuentras de todo y por la noche varios restaurantes El hotel está muy cerca de la estación de tren a 15-20min caminando, mi sugerencia es que si traes contigo equipaje aunque sea carry on, toma un taxi y NO te vayas caminando aunque sea cerca, para llegar todas las calles están empedradas o en malas condiciones para rodar las maletas, además de que la sensación es de inseguridad aunque se supone que en general es segura para los turistas.

Concierge cortesi, disponibili e bravi nel fornire informazioni ed utili suggerimenti. Massima pulizia, comfort e silenzio come già evidenziato da altri clienti la colazione è migliorabile in quanto dovrebbe essere più varia ed aggiungerei la frutta per esempio. Tout court l'albergo è consigliabile per un piacevole soggiorno nella pittoresca e accogliente Spaccanapoli. Vedi Napoli e poi torni. È proprio vero.

• Verified traveler (6/5): - I transited twice through this hotel in a ten day period. Both of my rooms were very clean. I preferred the second room because it was larger, had better air conditioning, and had a shower. The walls in both rooms were very thin. On the first night I was disturbed by my neighbour who obviously had an early departure. On the second night, I could hear my neighbours TV as clear as if it were in my room but I was lucky insomuch that they switched it off about 10.00 am. Breakfasts are very basic and are not served until 8.00 am. There was a notice in the room saying that the hotel would not take responsibility for cash and valuables but the room did not contain a safe (which in Naples would be desirable).

The room that I was given had a bath but no shower and did not have a safety deposit box, which would have been useful. The walls to my room were incredibly thin, and my room was next to my neighbours bathroom, which meant that when they got up early to leave, I was dreadfully disturbed...,,
• Verified traveler (2/5): - Plug in air fresheners everywhere made it impossible to breathe. Told them but nothing changed. Had to wear a mask. Room was supposed to have a balcony but didn’t. Window opened to a noisy residential courtyard all night. Bed was 2 smaller cots pushed together and hard as a rock. Should have been a king bed. Bathroom was awful. Shower was tiny and moldy with no where to put anything. Amenities looked used. Doors didn’t close properly and the hand held shower was broken. No hook to hang bath towels. Safe in room behind a picture opens with a key that the reception asked for during the day but sign behind door stated staff not responsible for anything missing because there is a safe in the room. Staff was nice but didn’t offer any information or even a map. Was told there was internet but it was only in the lobby and very weak. Not even in the breakfast room.

• Verified traveler (6/5): Hotel review - Location: We walked from the train station, which took about 20 minutes. It is located in a mini plaza, fairly easy enough to find. Amenities: Breakfast is available daily, you can drink water from the pitcher left over from breakfast. There is also a bar which served coffee and alcoholic beverages but it did not appear to be staffed with the exception of the breakfast hours. Cleanliness: The shower would not drain. This was disgusting and even after getting it "fixed" there was no change. Noise: There are only two floors-the ground floor and the second floor. Sound traveled in from the outside.

• Verified traveler (4/5): Not a 4 star by any stretch! - This hotel, although in the city center, is a terrible location. The hotel itself was certainly nothing close to a 4 star! The room was tiny, barely space to walk around the bed. The shower stall was also very small. The "mini bar" was an empty refrigerator that wasn't even cold. The bar/lounge didn't serve wine which is shocking in Italy. In fact they didn't even have ice cubes for our warm drinks. The breakfast was sub par. Totally disappointed in this one.
• Chris (8/5): Good hotel w/blemishes - Good central location, lots to see/do nearby, manyrestaurants, friendly hotel staff, area from train/ bus depot (Termini) to hotel fairly seedy and hotel location not easy to find, it's within a small plaza off Via Tribuno and not visible from the street. The given address of the hotel is not based on street location, rather on hotel's presence in an off-street plaza. Maybe taking taxi from Termini (or whatever start point) to hotel would be easiest (we walked and suffered). Street layout is labyrinthine and thoroughfares not well marked if at all. Wifi works only in lobby, not rooms.
• Verified traveler (8/5): Good location - The hotel is at the heart of the old centre with many restaurants and beautiful churches to visit. The staff was friendly. The hotel though is very simple. More a 2 star. My bedroom didn't have a window more a sky light. The bathroom old but clean. Very small shower which was fine for me but for a bigger person it could be a problem :) The breakfast was simple but fine with croissant, cheese and cold meat. When we requested we could have a boiled egg. Overall we had a good stay as the hotel was just a place to sleep for us.

Avoid room 103 if you can't sleep in bright room. 'Window' over door to hall so when motion trips lights it's disturbing. Friends room 203 much nicer. Breakfast not exciting. Staff super helpful.
• Tom (6/5): 3* not 4 - Nice hotel in the historic centre. Close to a lot of sights. Friendly staff but the hotel should not be categorised as a 4* hotel. I was disappointed with a number of things: - WiFi not available in the room - The windows in the room didn't shut properly - The shower door was broken - The staff did not replenish the toilet roll - The safe in the wall did not work.
• Ian (4/5): Disappointing because nowhere near 4* - It's a pity that this hotel over-rates itself as 4* rather than a passable and quirkily appealing 3*. (It rather questions the credibility of the rating system in Naples.) It looks like it got half-way to becoming a very attractive and interesting boutique hotel - eg the quite a lot of the décor in the public areas and the imaginative use of a genuine old Naples building - but somewhere along the line gave up and lowered its standards. Just two examples out of many: the sink was cracked and the "mini-bar" was a tired, stained and empty small fridge tucked under a table. I would also expect 4* to have Wi-Fi in the rooms and breakfast area. On the upside, its location and immediate surroundings were excellent.

• Councillor (10/5): Beauty boutique hotel! - Clean n comfortable room with superb shower, room safe and personal fridge. Plush lounge seating in reception that always had smartly suited staff in attendance. The breakfast was always early (even on Sunday), well stocked with good choice of fresh products. First class service at all times by a respectful and attentive staff.
• Curt (2/5): Beware of bait and switch - Booked Caravaggio hotel (and pre-paid in full through hotels.com), but when we arrived to check in (on Thu, Oct.6) they told us "we have an issue". They said that the hotel was overbooked, but that they would send us to their sister hotel (Grand Hotel Capodimonte). We really didn't have any choice but to accept as it was late afternoon (and raining) in a city where we had never been before in a foreign country. After getting home, we looked up the nightly costs of the two hotels. For a similar reservation (2 nights, starting on Thu, Oct.20), the Grand Hotel Capodimonte costs almost 1/3 less than the Caravaggio. It appears that the Caravaggio is running a bait-and-switch scam where they get potential guests to pre-pay and then switch them to a cheaper hotel when they show up at the door and have nowhere else to go. They never offered to reimburse us the difference in room rates or to compensate us for the inconvenience of being further away from the various tourist sights we had pre-planned to visit in Naples. Note: Never got past the lobby of the hotel, but there is no way to submit this review unless some rating is selected for the property, room, and local area (so we gave them middling values as a reflection of our general dissatisfaction).

• Nicholas (8/5): Clean and courteous hotel - European hotels have a different standard than North America and the friendly staff, flexibility, clean rooms and breakfast make this a place we would stay again. It's also stuck away on a great street Tribunale that has everything to offer.
• World traveller (2/5): A one or two star hotel, not four stars. - The beds were extremely hard and uncomfortable. There was a large cockroach on the floor of our room. There was no elevator to our room - we had to access the room by climbing up an exterior iron staircase that was very poorly lit at night. The room itself overlooked a dingy interior courtyard. There was no wifi in the room. Breakfast was mediocre. The staff were friendly and tried reasonably hard, but they could not make up for the terrible state of this hotel. There is absolutely no way that this a 4 star hotel as they claim.
• J on holiday (4/5): This is a 3 star hotel. - The hotel is ok overall but disappointing for a 4 star rating. I think the price is off as well, I think its over priced for the state of the installation and for its location. There is not much to see near by, so perhaps its more for a business visit than a holiday. BTW they do not have a shuttle to the airport or port. They do however negotiate very good rates with cabs for you.

• Amanda (8/5): Hip, Hyper Modern, Comfy - Modernesque decor, new showers are hip but impractical, nice staff, interesting location. In the evening, recommend going west (right as you come out of the small square at the hotel entrance) on Via dei Tribunali. Past the Chiesa di Santa Maria delle Anime del Purgatorio ad Arco are a couple of good pizza places and further on is a sort of book district which was wonderfully lively.

• Sally (8/5): Great Location in Historic Centre - Enjoyable stay in a very lively location. The staff were very friendly and helpful, breakfast was good, with help yourself buffet. The location in old town, with very narrow cobbled street, and bustling night life may not be to everyone's liking, but we found it fascinating and thought we were seeing the 'real Naples'. the hotel is a 15 min walk from the bus and train station. Plentiful pizzerias and coffee bars nearby, all very reasonably priced. We recommend using the funiculare to get to the Castell St Elmo, where there are breathtaking views of Naples, the bay and Vesuvius.
• nancy (8/5): Location couldn't be better - This hotel is in a great location for visiting Naples old center. Valentino at the front desk is very helpful and has very good English skills. The other staff is very friendly also. Some with better English than others. I had room 104, no balcony but It was a good sized room with a nice bathroom. No english channels on tv. only one outlet for refrigerator and tv, so either or. All the rooms are on the first floor and you must use the elevator. Breakfast was minimal. Espresso machine was broken so they went next door to get cappicino for me. Naples is a fabulous city! I would recommend staying here
• Timothy (8/5): Very good - Nice hotel in a great location for sightseeing in the old town. In particular, the famous Caravaggio "The Seven Works of Mercy" is opposite the hotel's piazza in the Pio Monte della Misericordia. Our only beef was over a mix up with the crib. It seems hotels.com didn't inform the hotel we were travelling with a baby and didn't provide a crib initially. When we requested one, the receptionist didn't know where it was and told us we had to wait until 9pm for it. Since that's past our little one's bed time, we told them not to bother and deliver it the next day. Annoyingly, the crib was delivered at 10pm the same night - 3 hours after her bedtime - almost waking her up. So, traveller's tip - make sure you mention crib requirements in the hotels.com "Special Requirements" box when booking.
• Dana (10/5): Best customer service in Naples - The staff at the hotel made our stay great. So accommodating and friendly. Valentino gave us great recommendations for transportation and restaurants.
• U (6/5): Not a 4* - This hotel is very basic for a four star grading. The rooms are very basic and dated, though kept clean. Breakfast is simple with no hot food. There is no wifi in the rooms due to the age of the building. Rooms were cold and heating did not work well. The good points are that it is very centrally located and the staff are extremely helpful.
• Verified traveler (6/5): Good location - The room was clean but no frills. HIgh ceilings, nice big windows that open. Bed was moderately comfortable. The breakfast was good serving cereal, yogurt, breads, meats, cheese, eggs, assorted juices and coffee. The location was nice and convenient for exploring.
• Waggatail (6/5): Great location - The hotel is right bang in the middle of the amazing atmospheric Centro Storico. The staff were all very friendly and efficient. The breakfast was adequate. The minuses: if we could have chosen, we would have gone for a room with more light - we were at the back with not a very nice view. The 'roof garden' was a bit disappointing. Main, serious negative was the drains in our bathroom - they were VERY slow. However, all in all a pleasant place to stay - so handy for the ancient city.
• Verified traveler (4/5): Stay away. - Clearly someone had a vision to set up an arty hotel in Naples. Whether the plan went wrong as ill conceived or the economy frustrated it failed. Our bathroom toilet set itself to constant flush early in our three night stay. Staff said it would be fixed and then ignored us or the problem. Sleeping over the noise of Naples is difficult anyway but with the added issue of the constant sound of a flushing toilet things get beyond reason. We had nothing stolen but staff clearly paid too much attention to our belongings as things were not as we left them when we returned at the end of the day. This hotel is run down and neglected. Things don't work. Staff don't or can't give decent levels of service. Avoid.
• nowinsince2k (2/5): Take plenty of cash - Best to use google street view before booking, just type hotel caravaggio, naples into map search. Seemed expensive. As for 4star hotel (carravagio in naples) we couldnt find anyone impressed with this. No parking, our room door found open when collecting our key. Hall light not working so trying to find lock in dark every evening. Breakfast fruit juice is some sort of childrens sugar water with colouring, probably a powder mix. 5 large litter wheelie bins outside hotel smelling with people searching contents of night. light in room not working, both lights mentioned at reception nothing happened. Local tax required at checkout, would only take cash, no credit card. Tax? really? Cash only? Bustarella I think (not a profanity,just means little extra cash). Hire car return (Budget,booked through expedia). Oh, your compressor is missing from your boot. look at your contract, its written in pen that there was one. So you lost it? Maybe your hotel took it. Che palle, as they say. Fibbing little fat man - I say. I never was without the keys and i dont want a hire car compressor. Another Bustarella wanted maybe? Really left bad memory of last day. Every last opportunity to con you out of your hard earned cash. Naples, never again. Expedia??

• Tony & Jean (8/5): Well placed, clean and friendly. - Room was clean and quiet especially condidering it's location in the centre of the old city. Breakfast was adequate but not notable - could have been better with more attention to detail and no extra cost. Staff were very good. Directions to hotel are difficult when arriving, easy when you know how. A 400 metre walk to the local bus/train terminus but we got lost the first time. Airport bus is good and reliable, 3 Euro to airport. A map was provided free on arrival.

• John & Sarah (6/5): Small, friendly hotel in historical centre. - The staff were very friendly and helpful and the location is ideal for visiting the different tourist areas of Naples. It's only about three quarters of a mile from the Central Station and right in the heart of the historical centre of the city. The Royal Palace/Piazza Plebiscito area is only about a mile away. The first room we were allocated had a shower rather than a bath and only a high window that we couldn't see out of. However, when we asked for another room with a bath, we were given a much better room with a bath and with a window overlooking the street. It's worth asking for one of the rooms with an outside window when you book.

• Verified traveler (6/5): Nice location in old district - Very welcoming staff. However, maintenance problems in bathroom as our sink did not drain properly and showering caused leaks on the floor. Room was spacious with high ceilings. Breakfast had many choices but quality was not high (note: it would be nice to have real orange juice at breakfast). Great location next to Duomo and walking distance to the train station and Archeology Museum. Great pizza just down the street.
