• Nadja (6/5): Questionable hostel - This is a hard one as I am a permanent traveler and visit about 200 hostels a year so I will give my honest review about this property because I chose this property by reading the reviews and they were all good but I experienced it different. The location is okay, 15 min walk from Tokyo train station, its a business area quiet at night, convenience stores around and multiple restaurants in different price ranges, the owner is a lovely 82 yrs old Japanese who travelled in his younger years and probably started this hostel some years ago. There is no space in the hostel I think that's the main thing what bothered me, you can not even call it cozy small, there is just no space as the owner stocks on stuff and doesn't organise the place! WIFI in dorm is not working properly, beds are layered with 2 thin matrasses, cleaning is questionable as yes the bins are emptied but bathrooms and floor are not clean with multiple guest coming in and out I think it is unhygienic. Now the owner focuses mainly on putting a small free breakfast in place every morning in that tiny space where he wants to gather the guests which ofcourse is a nice gesture but hardly people came down for the breakfast, sad I feel, his communication is a problem here. I think I became claustrofobic in that place and it made my stay in Tokyo different then I expected but yeah a traveler needs to be flexible all the time so I survived my 4 nights, next time I will definitely check at least 20 reviews before booking a property! • oldschoolgamergirl (10/5): Nice place for solo travelers. - Simple breakfast at 7am with coffee or tea was good. Directions to the place from google were wrong. From otemachi station you have to turn right its a 30min walk not 9 mins, go past tokoyo hotel, left from seven eleven up 3 streets then turn right.
• Cristian (9/5): Totalmente recomendable - Lo mejor es Jiji, es muy amigable, trata que uno este siempre comodo. Es muy servicial. Prepara todas las ma;anas un desayuno cumplidor (gratis) para arrancar los paseos con energia. Las camas estan muy bien, tienen cortinas pero no son tan privadas. Quizas tuve suerte pero los demas clientes eran silenciosos y respuetuosos, por lo cual, descase muy bien. La ubicacion en Kanda es excelente. Quizas es dificil maniobrar si alguien va con muchas valijas. No hay tanto espacio en el edificio

• Munzir (1/5): - Good location. The place is run by an old grandpa that seems to enjoy drinking and flirting with the ladies backpackers in the evening. The toilet and especially the shower in the dorm is very dirty, absolutely unacceptable. The red tap doesn't work so you'd need to shave or wash your face with cold water. No soap or shampoo provided. Just empty containers. The towel was also small, more like a face towel, and it had black mould spots on it. How this property has a really high rating of cleanliness is beyond me.

• Sarka (10/5): - Jij is an amazing person. He made me feel very welcome, and I had such a lovely stay. I also met wonderful people there, which made the experience even better. It’s a great spot if you want to connect with others, enjoy a nice atmosphere, and stay in a very convenient location.

En bonus les petits déj de Jij. Le matelas était vraiment fatigué mais ce n'est qu'un détail pat rapport a l expérience general qui a été superbe.

• Algregg (9/5): Its a little nice place to stay. - Jij the owner will treat you well. The location is about a 20-minute walk from Tokyo Station and is also close to a subway, making it easy to travel around Tokyo. It offers dormitory-style bunk bed accommodation, with shared shower and bathroom facilities.

• clement (7/5): Beside my neighbor, it was great and filled the purpose for a very reasonable and affordable price. - Jij was an amazing host. Thanks for being such a great person Jij. The location was awesome. Loved it. I actually forgot the breakfast was included, it was a nice surprise. I've met nice people in there. It was not directly related to the place. I didn't sleep much because one of the girl didn't sleep, had a light on all night (she was the bed next to mine so I had as much light as she did). At 5 in the morning, she went to take a shower which is in the room....

• Lbk (9/5): Superb - Great location for both metro and train with many different lines in less than 10mins walk. The hostel facilities is basic but enough for what you need. A drink with grandpa owner and others was a nice treat after a long day out to explore Tokyo.
• Madison (10/5): A Memory of Japan - Jiji provided me with one of the best experiences I had in Japan. From his flexibility with my check-in to providing me suggestions on where to walk around, and simply taking the time to get to know me, this was such a special part of my trip. Very grateful to you Jiji and will be stopping to say hi next time I'm in Tokyo. Also on another note, the location was great and breakfast the next morning was an added benefit to meet the others staying in the hostel

• Carlos (10/5): Good, pretty and budget-friendly. - Excelent hostal, clean and warm. Gigi is the best host and he makes sure every guest have a good time. The dinner table at nights can become a truly international community along the other guests and maybe a drink or 2. For the price and location, there is nothing wrong with this hostel.

The accomodation is conveniently located, with options for food, laundry and shopping within a 10-20min walk. My stay was comfortable and quiet :)

• Bengü (7/5): Good place for a budget travel - The location was great and the owner was very helpful. There was no windows so no fresh air in the room so it made it difficult to fall asleep. And it doesn’t have an elevator so its pretty hard to take the luggage to the room.
• Grace (8/5): Love Jiji, he's the best. - Jiji was very welcoming and so nice, honestly he's the whole experience. The bedroom was incredibly hot and muggy at night because one of the other guests had taken a shower and not aired things out. That made sleeping incredibly difficult. Some things could have been cleaner, but I wouldn't necessarily call the place dirty.
• Gaby (10/5): Kindest host in whole Japan :) - Jij is absolute the best! Of all the places I’ve stayed in Japan nobody comes close to him. When I asked him why he decided to put this place, he said that he was a poor backpacker… And people would give him food and shelter for free… So he wanted to return that. How amazing is that!? We need more people in the world like Jij! He also serves breakfast for free! How kind! And it was great, that we ended up all chatting in the big table sharing our stories. I didn’t stay in many hostels in Japan but this one, it’s something else. I will definitely come back to stay at Jij’s place. He is the kindest! Not a biggy, but as a shared bedroom, of course, you depend of how silent and considerate is the rest of the people. But the facilities are great!

• Caroline (8/5): It was nice! - The owner was very sweet and wonderful! Location was a good distance from the station. Fair price for the time I stayed. The bathroom needs a deep cleaning. The air conditioner was shared in the room, and someone had set the heat overnight- because it was a closed shared space. it was very hot and sweaty.

• Vahideh (1/5): the worst experience with Booking.com. - This has been my worst experience with Booking.com. How is it possible that a place is rated with a cleanliness score of approximately 9, but when you arrive, it's dirty, and there’s a cockroach walking on the floor? I immediately left and booked another place. The owner messaged me, offering to return my money, but I didn’t want to go back to such an unclean place. I hope Booking.com improves its system to prevent false ratings.
• Shu (9/5): Superb - Location is very convenient and the owner was very friendly and went out of his way to make sure that all the guests were well taken care of. Nothing I could think of, really.
• Mariah (1/5): Disappointed. - Doesn't accomodate people who travels from far place and arrives later than 8pm Arrived at midnight and the owner shouted at me in the middle of the road saying that I do not follow his timings. As I have booked in advanced and advised him that I'll be arriving ag late night because my fkught to NRT just landed at 7pm.
• Noemi (10/5): The most loving hostel I've ever been to - Was my first time in hostel as solo traveler, and I loved it! Place is super comfortable and cozy, like a real “mini house”, however, the most is given by Jij (the owner) who treats the guests as his grandchildren!! He’s a super funny, helpful and loving person, who puts his heart in what he does. Every morning he prepares breakfast, and in the evening he is always ready to have a chat with a soda. Position is great, less than 10 min walking from 3 of the biggest line of Tokyo and price is very affordable. I’ll definitely come back!!

• Valeria (10/5): Comfortable, nice, cozy - Gigi, the hostel owner, is such a nice man! He helps you in anyway he can and he is very flexible. He is so welcoming to travellers, he really makes you feel you arrived at your grandfather´s house, definitely would recommend! If you carry big luggage, the stairs may be a problem.
• Swati (9/5): Cute little place by a welcoming granda - Host/owner: Jiji (which translates to grandpa in Japanese) is the perfect host, very welcoming. Breakfast: basic breakfast but the way he sets it up is really cute, good enough to get the day started with coffee/tea, toast and boiled egg. Location: it’s not in the happening area of Tokyo but conveniently located from 10-15mins walking distance of train station. Bed: could have been better, not the best mattress to sleep on. Bathroom: clean but small and located within the dorm, so can be disturbing for a light sleeper.
