• Adventure652163 (2/5): Management negligence! They need to act up! - I was with my family for 6 nights there! Very bad experience on the very last evening!! I slipped very hard on one of their slippery tiles, injured my knee and almost broke my hip and back yet their management still took it very lightly! I don't even think they believed me even though there were more than 4 witnesses who saw the terrible accident at the time! I wasn't able to stand on my own or even walk!! I had to use a wheelchair that evening since I was not able to walk at all, and I also had to use it at all the airports on the way back home the next day!! Management can apply a very simple not costly solution to this dangerous hazard but they're probably waiting for a little kid to break his neck, only then they will take it seriously! Too Bad!

The à la Carta very nice. Need to give a special shout out to VINILLLI and Alfredo the servers from the buffet is exceptional goes above and beyond treated us like VIP. The rooms are very spacious very clean housekeeping did a fantastic job. The hammock on the balcony is a really nice touch for the upgrade. The beach was beautiful. The pool was always very clean. Entertainment was great. All bars and drinks were phenomenal. I would highly recommend this resort those smaller resort. It was very well. Maintain the Services exceptional. It’s more calm and relaxing than party vibes, but it has beach volleyball ping-pong. Lots to keep you busy. The marina is literally right beside the resort so you do see the ships and boats coming and going all day, but it wasn’t as loud or as much as a nuisance as expected, but it does make for a smaller beach and swimming area but still Crystal Clearwaters it was absolutely fantastic One point where there is room for improvement would be there pretty much no seats with shade either at the beach or the pool. There are some umbrellas around the pool but none by the beach that is where I would say there is room for improvement.

Nothing luxurious, but everything you need. Chicken, beef, pork, salads, fruits, ice cream, desserts, and so on. The sea was also very nice. Clean beach, bar at the beach. Plenty of pace for everyone. Water is clean and enjoyable. I would recommend the hotel.

After reading through some of the reviews and seeing a handful of negative experiences, I had real reservations. But I’m so glad I pushed past that hesitation, because this turned out to be the best hotel stay I’ve had in Mexico, and that’s saying a lot. For the past five years, I’ve made an annual trip to Cancun for dental work, and each year I’ve tried a different hotel. I’ve had good stays and forgettable ones. The Occidental blew them all out of the water. From the moment I arrived, the check-in process was smooth and completely pressure-free — no hard upsells, no confusion, just a warm welcome. The staff throughout the entire property were genuinely friendly, not in a rehearsed way, but in a way that made you feel like a valued guest. That warmth carried through every interaction, every day. The food was excellent. Again — I’ve stayed at several all-inclusives in the area over the years, and the quality here stood out. Plenty of variety, consistently good, and never disappointing. Checkout was just as seamless as check-in. No surprise charges, no billing confusion, no awkward back-and-forth — my bill was exactly what it should have been. That kind of clean, no-drama experience means more than people might realize. If you’re on the fence because of some mixed reviews, I’d encourage you to book with confidence. My experience was nothing short of exceptional, and I’ll absolutely be returning next year.

O hotel tem atividades durante o dia e noite. Ótimo atendimento. Possui academia, sauna, jacuzzi, quadra de vôlei, canoa, restaurantes, sports bar. Spa disponível com serviço pago à parte. Localização é ótima, mas se fosse mais perto do shopping La Isla acredito que seria melhor situado. Restaurante de especialidades mediante agendamento e só pode ser utilizado uma vez a cada 3 diárias. Bar da praia poderia servir algum tipo de comida mais rápida pra quem quer ficar apenas ali.

Os quartos são limpos todos os dias e toalhas trocadas todos os dias. Eu amei! Piscina grande, atividades, hotel familiar. Sou brasileira! Indico também o SPA Única coisa que eu não gostei, é que o hotel possui 3 restaurantes que vc tem que fazer a reserva 2 dias antes para conseguir jantar lá e também por exemplo se vc se hospedar 5 noites, você só tem direito de fazer 2 reservas, os outros dias você tem que jantar no buffet e não posso jantar nesses restaurantes. Eu penso, que a pessoa deveria poder reservar todos os dias, já que os buffets tem sempre fila e esses restaurantes de reserva sobram até lugar.

• Egonzalezf (4/5): Not a great experience - Our stay at Occidental Costa Cancun was unfortunately disappointing overall. Check-in service was slow and lacked urgency. We arrived early (around 11:00 AM) and did not expect our room to be ready, which is understandable. However, the reception staff did not seem interested in providing a welcoming or efficient experience. Since it was the start of our vacation, we decided to overlook this and began enjoying the resort until we finally received our room at 3:15 PM. The property itself is very small and does not feel like a true resort. There is only one small pool and a very limited beach area, which is located next to a main canal where ferries and boats constantly pass. This results in a noticeable smell of gas and oil, and it raises concerns about the cleanliness of the water. Overall, it feels more like a hotel with a pool rather than a proper resort, as there are no additional recreational areas beyond the pool and lobby. The buffet food is average at best, with nothing particularly memorable. The à la carte restaurants are better, but reservations are required and difficult to secure. They can only be booked two days in advance, and they are usually fully booked, making it impossible to enjoy them regularly during your stay. One positive aspect is the service from the waiters and waitresses. They are attentive, friendly, and genuinely try to help guests and accommodate their needs. The rooms are outdated and not well maintained. Our room faced the pool, which made it quite noisy. Additionally, the pool umbrellas cannot be opened due to wind risk, which makes little sense—if they cannot be used, it’s unclear why they are even there. Transportation is another downside. Taxis arranged through the hotel are extremely overpriced—about twice the cost of using Uber or private transport services, of which there are many excellent options available. Unfortunately, we learned this the hard way. In summary, there are far better real resorts in the Cancun area that offer better value and experience. I would not recommend this hotel, especially considering the constant attempts to sell memberships during your stay. Save your time and money and look elsewhere.
• Adventure12732337077 (2/5): Pick a different hotel! - Someone who hasn't ever been to Cancun might like this hotel, but as someone who goes often, choose a better one! This hotel is on the smaller side so it gets really noisy at night and a lot can be heard from the rooms. They have a private beach but it's small and feels/looks more like a lake. Views from the beach or rooms are not pretty. Rooms were great and clean; the cleaning ladies took their time on them. Food was horrible. It was most of the time bland or too salty. It was also stale from sitting out and not hot enough at all, sometimes even cold! Staff was not as caring or attentive as at other hotels. Check-in takes forever since they do it "one room at a time", and we had to find our rooms on our own and take our luggage up on our own (usually someone takes us along with our luggage!). Don't waste your time or money - find a better hotel! (I recommend fiesta americana)

• wanttobetheir (10/5): Great place at a good price - Well as usual it is a few weeks late getting this review out. But I was there Feb.26th. to Mar.9th this was my 3rd time there. When I arrived it was a few hours late so my room wasn't what I had hoped, but the front desk told me to come in the morning and they would move me. Got a great room then, view of the pool and ocean. First nite ate at the Mexican rest. Awesome had one of the best steaks ever. Went to front bar for a drink, the waitress grabed me and said hello Utah friend. I got my phone out and showed her a pic. of me and her 2017. Jvani was awesome the whole time there. The bartenders both main and beach were the best, drink got low, a new one showed up. Pool was great Entertainment very good, Michael Jackson was the best and lasted the whole hr. Meri Hernandez Mgr. and Linda Montano waitress were the best at the Seafood,and Italian rest. At the buffet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner the service and food was over the top. I'm sorry I lost all the names I wrote down but they were great. The Gym was clean and good weights. Snack bar upstairs great for something quick and to go. I had the best sleep because of the great beds, most in other resorts are hard as rocks. I was nice to just walk 50ft. and get the boat to Isla Maris spelled wrong. but u know the island, great ride once every hr. over and back. This resort was always clean as were the rooms great staff. • Sunder Dharmar (6/5): Great Value and Service, but Bar Hygiene and Pool Policies Need Attention - The Occidental Costa Cancun is an amazing choice within the Zona Hotelera, offering very competitive prices for the location. The Highlights Service: Most of the staff were excellent—attentive, friendly, and professional. Dining: The buffet and specialty restaurants offered a good variety. While taste is subjective, the service in the dining areas was consistently high-quality. Areas for Improvement The Bar Experience: Unfortunately, the bartenders’ behavior was a stark contrast to the rest of the team. There was a clear "pay-to-play" culture where guests waving cash were prioritized. As someone who prefers to reward the entire team’s hard work at the end of a stay, I found this transactional attitude disappointing. It made me feel less inclined to tip rather than more. Pool Hygiene: A significant issue was the lack of hair-cap requirements for guests with long hair. It is quite unpleasant to encounter stray hair while swimming. Glassware Cleanliness: I observed inconsistent cleaning at the bar. On one occasion, glasses were dipped into a dirty sink and wiped with a cloth rather than being properly sanitized. This is a hygiene risk that needs to be addressed immediately. Direct Note to Management I am sharing these observations because simple solutions would significantly elevate the guest experience: Standardize Glassware Cleaning: Investing in a high-speed commercial dishwasher at the bar would ensure all glasses are sanitized to the same standard and would improve guest confidence. Pool Policies: To maintain hygiene, I recommend making swim caps mandatory for guests with long hair or enforcing a "hair tied up" policy to prevent shedding in the water. Staff Training: Reiterate to the bar team that equitable service should be provided to all guests, regardless of whether a tip is visible upfront.

As instalações do hotel são espaçosas e os quartos grandes. Facilidade em marcar os jantares nos restaurantes especiais Atendimento dos funcionários e qualidade dos drinks. Funcionário não eram atenciosos e os dis bares não eram simpáticos. Se quiser atenção atendimento rápido, esteja pronto pra dar gorjetas. Os drinks não eram como o esperado, muitos não tinham sabor, parecendo raspa raspa de praia.
• Experience401565 (10/5): Another great trip - This was our fourth time at this resort. The staff really make the experience. From Daniel in the Italian restaurant to Alberto, Alfredo and Vanelli in the breakfast buffet these guys make you feel at home. Special mention to Sergio and our main man Guilberto who also work the buffet. Sandra and Juanita at the lobby bar sure no how to take care of you. Looking forward to next year already.

Main reception lobby is a bit chaotic with many luggages on the side. We were only there for 1 night however I noted that there weren't a lot of activities during the day.

• Journey05487312493 (8/5): Good hotel at an unattractive location - Travelled with my wife March 2/26 for a 10-day stay. Both of us are seniors in our seventies. So, my review is a bit biased towards seniors. CONS -The Occidental Costa hotel is pretty badly located, neighboring a major marina. A lot of noise during the day and some Diesel fumes smell coming from large and small motorboats running back and forth all day. Also, tons of noisy see doo-scooters running back and forth. -The so-called “beach” is pathetic. A strip of sand about 160 feet long and may be 30 feet wide, covered with growing palm trees and tightly arranged beach lounge chairs touching one another. The area for swimming is about 160 feet long and may be 60 feet wide, cordoned with small red buoys. Vary shallow water, so, basically only good for walking. All in all, good for little kids not adults. -We didn’t like beds in our room. They have enormously thick box springs and mattresses which made the bed very high to crawl into it. -Wi-Fi was very unstable and sometimes nearly disappearing in our room. PROS -All hotel facilities are very clean. Our room was very nicely cleaned every day. -We have room #106 at the ground level with a large terrace, facing the beach and sea. Having this opportunity, we would like to thank Mr. Eduardo Garcia, Reservations Manager, very much, for assigning this room to us after our email request. Room has also a mini bar that is replenished once a day for free, with water and beer, both Mexican and European. -Food is very good both in the primary buffet (Albatros) or in the Italian restaurant (La Trattoria) where we usually ate breakfast and lunch. -The best think for seniors in this hotel is that all noisy human activities like a stage entertainment, are cut off at 10:00PM. Everything is quiet and one sleeps like a baby.

• DouglasHMbr (8/5): Amazing all-inclusive resort - The resort was perfect for a 8-day vacation. The location, the pool area, the beach, the bars, the restaurants were all very good. The only downside was that the next door guests were too loud and kept us up for 3 nights. If there was some kind of acoustic isolation, it would be perfect.
