- MMIHaria (10/5): Wonderful hotel - We stayed at the King George Hotel in Athens over New Year, and it was truly a wonderful experience. As a Lifetime Platinum member, I was very pleased to be upgraded to a lovely, generously sized room with a spectacular view of the Acropolis. The room had two balconies overlooking the square, which made the stay extra special as we were even able to watch the New Year’s celebrations directly from our balcony, an unforgettable moment. The location is excellent, right in the heart of the city. Everything is within walking distance, making it easy to explore Athens and its main sights without needing transport. Breakfast was absolutely amazing, both in quality and variety, and the view of the Acropolis from the breakfast area made it even more special. The service throughout the hotel was outstanding. I honestly cannot find a single negative point. We also appreciated the thoughtful touches: a beautiful chocolate shaped like the hotel façade, and on New Year’s Eve, we were pleasantly surprised with a Vasilopita cake to enjoy on New Year’s Day. These gestures really made us feel welcome and valued. Overall, an exceptional stay with fantastic service, an unbeatable location, and memorable views. I would happily return and highly recommend the King George Hotel to anyone visiting Athens, especially for a special occasion.

- Fearless14425444554 (10/5): Excellent hotel! - Such a wonderful hotel! My family spends 90 nights a year in hotels all over the world and I would place the King George right up at the top! Right off the bat, it’s in a perfect location. It’s one block to the Parliament building (don’t miss the changing of the guard at the top of every hour!), a 15 minute walk to the Acropolis, and an even shorter walk to all the shopping and restaurants you could ever want. The restaurant on the 7th floor has an amazing view of the Parthenon and a fireplace for coziness. The breakfast buffet was large, varied and delicious. The staff couldn’t have been any more attentive, friendly and helpful. We had two connecting rooms (fantastic for families!) and they were spacious with fresh flowers and nightly turn down service. 5 stars, two thumbs up, 10 out of 10. Just a great hotel!

It is luxurious, beautiful, and perfectly located. The staff are friendly, efficient, and anticipate your every need. Communication prior to arrival was simple and helpful. Our gorgeous room had a view of the Acropolis, an unexpected treat. We had dinner at Tudor Hall and it was the most fabulous meal of our trip with impeccable service and creative cuisine. All in all, a perfect visit. I hope to return and wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Athens.

Over the past 20years I have stayed in hotels across Athens for a week. This luxury hotel is truly superb with the venue, staff's caring lovely atmosphere, attitude and attention to me, a solo traveller. I felt like a valued guest. The bedroom was luxurious as well as the beautiful marble bath. For once I did not feel as if I was staying in a box room due to being single. Breakfast exceeded expectations overlooking the acropolis. The bespoke cocktails in the ground floor were delicious and unique in flavour. I shall definitely return. Fantastic value for money.

- Swindoneric (10/5): Truly wonderful from start to finish. - We stayed here for a few days earlier this week and felt it was one of the best hotels we’ve ever stayed in. Our balcony room was utterly immaculate, serviced to perfection twice a day. The air conditioning was silent but effective, the bed was incredibly comfortable and the balcony gave us a great vantage point for the Independence Day parade. Breakfast is comprehensive and superb, and the downstairs lobby serves great cocktails and small plates. The staff are wonderful, polite but genuinely welcoming. An amazing experience and we will undoubtedly stay again.

- Wander50194987389 (2/5): Terrible experience - Today, my sister and I were subjected to an absolutely unprecedented and deeply disturbing experience at the King George, a Luxury Collection Hotel in Athens. After an exhausting overnight flight, we arrived at the hotel by taxi, hoping for nothing more than a smooth check-in and the opportunity to rest. Instead, during the registration process, a concierge service employee named Cleopatracategorically and unapologetically informed us that we would not be allowed to check into our pre-reserved and confirmed room. Her reasoning was that she was allegedly unable to charge the payment to a virtual credit card belonging to our brother, a Marriott Bonvoy Ambassador Elite member, who had made the reservation for us. Despite the fact that this method of booking has been used by him repeatedly around the world for his children and close family members without ever encountering any issues, she insisted that this was “Marriott policy” and that she would not accommodate us under any circumstances. As a result, we were forced to wake our brother in New York, in a completely different time zone, to explain the situation. Even after he personally clarified that this booking method is standard practice and has never been questioned at Marriott properties worldwide, the employee stubbornly refused to offer any solution whatsoever. For two hours, we were left standing at the front desk — exhausted, jet-lagged, emotionally distressed, and utterly confused as to what was being demanded of us. The employee’s behavior was irrational, dismissive, and openly hostile. I finally expressed to her that her conduct and attitude toward guests — particularly loyal members of the Marriott Bonvoy program — directly contradict the values and standards publicly upheld by Marriott International. We have stayed at countless Marriott properties across the world, in hotels of various categories, and have never encountered such rudeness, incompetence, and blatant disrespect. I requested to speak with a Senior Manager in order to formally file a complaint regarding both the incident and this specific employee. In response, she deliberately misled us, pointing to various staff members and falsely presenting them as Senior Managers, until those employees themselves confirmed that they had no such position. At the same time, my sister began recording the situation on video in order to document the events. At this point, the employee became hysterical, screaming and aggressively demanding that the video be deleted. We refused. She then called the police and began telling them fabricated stories in Greek. Without going into every horrifying detail of what followed, I will state only this: all staff members present in the lobby positioned themselves at the exit, physically blocking our way and preventing us from leaving the hotel. The police eventually requested that the video be deleted, clearly recognizing that the concierge employee was behaving in a completely unprofessional and unstable manner and that the situation could otherwise escalate indefinitely. My sister deleted the video, and we finally managed to leave the hotel. We left what is, without exaggeration, the most offensive, hostile, and least customer-oriented Marriott property we have ever encountered.

We were a family of four people with two rooms for one week over Christmas. Prior to check-in, the hotel confirmed all of our arrangements and asked for any assistance including reservations. The concierge team did an amazing job helping us find places to eat as my wife has celiacs. Every meal was wonderful. Check-in was an easy and they were able to provide a connecting room which was not requested but greatly appreciated as it enable our family (4 adults) to stay together. The rooms were beautiful and housekeeping twice a day was sure to make sure our rooms were clean and tidy everyday. Breakfast overlooking the acropolis was breathtaking eery morning. Chrisa Dimitriadou and the entire team were amazing every morning. The Buffett had something for each member of out family and the menu items were plentiful. I personally feel in love with the sampled eggs mixed with smoked salmon and chives. Finally, the whole team was spectacular. For example, I had read that the hotel did not have parking and was fully expecting to have to find a local garage for an evening for the rental car. To my surprise, they said just bring the car to the front and the bellman would take care of parking it and retrieving it for us. Location location location. This was center to everything and would stay no other place upon our return. Yes, we will be returning. Great Job King George! Well done.

- MeydanBM (8/5): Luxurious experience, with some minor faults. - I have been several times to Athens and always wanted to visit King George hotel. Finally we had the opportunity to get a room and it did not disappoint. The view of Syntagama square added a lot, especially since it was already decorated for Christmas. The staff were very helpful and professional and overall everything was smooth and convenient. I want to point out four minor issues (this the 4 and not 5 stars): - Gym is too tiny and kind of poor. Feels like it was a "check" on gym without much thought. - The chocolate on the pillow is always a nice touch, but why do you place the cheapest greek chocolate? It feels kind of lazy. - We switched a room because the bath in the first room was very bad, low water pressure and we had to get very close to the edge of the bath to shower. The second room was similar, but had a very nice walk-in shower... even though in this shower the showerhead leaked and I got a splash of cold water each time. - Breakfast is very nice, but I think you can do much better on the eggs preparation. For example, my scrambled eggs and egg white omelette were very dry. Also, the coffee is kind of mediocre and I expect more from a luxury hotel. So overall, very good hotel, that does need a bit of a touchup to make it prefect.

- DebOChicago_IL (10/5): Great service, central location - This is a wonderful, centrally located hotel with excellent service. Our room was small but quite comfortable and well appointed. We only stayed one night but enjoyed the hotel bar with its excellent view of the Parthenon and also the very good breakfast in lovely surroundings.

- 345charlottes (8/5): The King George Hotel, the best place to stay in Athens, bar none. - If you’re planning a stay in Athens, Greece, look no further than the King George hotel. It’s in an excellent location (no car needed), with sumptuous accommodations, excellent service and delicious food at their Tudor Hall restaurant.
- Kiwi75 (10/5): An excellent central Athens option - We stayed last year at the sister hotel Grande Bretagne and thought it would be interesting to compare the two hotels. For us the rooms were fairly similar – in both cases a Junior Suite and the staff were all lovely. Housekeeping and breakfast were both excellent, which was impressive given the hotel was at 100% occupancy. Where the difference was noticeable was at reception where it seemed like there weren’t enough staff to deal with all the guests at the same time. Being able to access the Grande Bretagne facilities was a definite advantage. We ate at Tudor Hall for dinner which was superb. Make sure to book early though as it can be hard to get a booking.

Odalar genel olarak sessiz olmakla birlikte,sabah erken saatlerde üst katlardaki oda temizliği biraz rahatsız ediciydi.

- Asolare95 (10/5): A lovely stay! - Arrived before noon and they accommodated us and got us into our upgraded suite (thanks to our titanium status). Amazing room. Front desk assistant was so friendly and attentive. Room was well equipped, breakfast was very nice. We love that we could utilize the rooftop bar and restaurant at the Hotel Bretagne. Every staff member in both properties went above and beyond to take care of us. Location was perfect. I booked a private tour through Viator and saw all the sights with an amazing guide, Antony. We did have dinner at Tudor Hall. Met and exceeded our expectations. The chef is creative and innovative. Would highly recommend this beautiful hotel!

- patopti (10/5): Pleasantly Surprised - We arrived on a Saturday morning post cruise and we were dreading not being able to get into a room before afternoon. I apologize for not knowing the name of the man at the front desk but we were greeted with a smile and he felt sure we’d get a room soon. We went to the lobby bar, waiting area which is plush and welcoming. After a short wait we were called back to the front desk. The man we had encountered handed me the key cards with the room number 212. My face dropped. I always ask for a high floor. He assured me this was a suite. I had NUA’s attached to my reservation for months. While on the cruise I kept checking upgraded rooms and only the basics were left which is what I’d reserved. My NUA’s never went through and were put back into my account. As I entered the room, it seemed spacious enough but there was a couch coffee table and a beautiful desk and no bed (?). Then I looked to the right and saw another spacious room with a bed and a dressing room!!! I was so excited that we’d got such a beautiful room. Believe me, when you come off a cruise ship with a tiny room and see this as your hotel room, I was just so thrilled that I forgot to tip my bellhop. Of course I went back down the elevator to thank the front desk for our beautiful room with tip in hand for our bellhop who had showed us the many features in the room. I was quite happy with my hotel selection and the bed was heavenly. I got the best sleep I’d had in more than a week. I will return. On top of this being a luxurious property, it’s also in an outstanding location. Metro just steps away that will take you to the airport. We got a private car because my husband knee was hurting. May I add that breakfast is delicious. You can order off the menu AND choose items from the buffet if you are a Bonvoy Platinum member or above. Our lovely and efficient breakfast server, Anna, was the icing on the cake. She treated us like we were family and I hope restaurant management recognizes the way she interacts with guests making them feel like they are her favorite people. She surely goes above and beyond to make the King George breakfast guests appreciated.

- Sightsee24229154076 (4/5): Insanely overpriced for disappointing room and service - Some context: my wife and I booked a trip-of-a-lifetime style 2 week excursion through Greece, with stays at luxury properties in the Cyclades and Athens, using mainly points and miles accumulated over nearly a decade. Our hotels were mostly fantastic and we felt like we got what we paid for- until we got to Athens and our 3-night stay at the King George. That said, this is less a review of the hotel than is advice: there are VASTLY better values in Athens for your money. I'm sure there are many factors that go into a stay at a hotel like this one, and this is only based on our recent experience. First, some positives: The location is fantastic, and I would imagine that the view would be impressive, should you pay enough to have one. The hotel is stately, elegant, and historic. It has the feel of being expensive, solid, and extremely well built, like a high-end German car or a fine Swiss watch. The doormen are truly wonderful, helpful, and attentive. There was a phone next to the toilet, which would have been extremely impressive in 1962. Now to the less-than-stellar: The room, which the staff seemed subtly reluctant to give us because we paid with points, was small to the point of being cramped. 1/3 of the already-small room was taken up with a large desk with an uncomfortable chair, and a large shelf-like protrusion, which I assume housed HVAC ductwork of some sort. No room that retails for $1000+ a night, anywhere in the world, should feel this small and uncomfortable. There is no pool, spa, sauna, or even a lobby common area at the King George. However, as a guest, you are allowed to use these facilities at the much grander Gran Bretagne hotel directly next door. You’ll enjoy traipsing outside with your swimsuit, making your way through the GB’s more spacious and luxurious lobby, and slinking downstairs to the spa area while the GB guests sniff at the rabble from next door who only spent a $1,000 a night on their rooms. Our room’s view, if it can be called that, was of an odd interior space with metal posts and what appeared to be bare light bulbs. Even with the drapes open, it was impossible to tell if it was day or night outside. We purchased some truly outstanding street food in downtown Athens and brought it back to the hotel. However, since there wasn’t room (or chairs!) for two people to sit and eat comfortably in our tiny room, my wife and I opted to sit at a small corner table in what is ostensibly the King George’s lobby. Within 2 minutes, we were informed by the staff that this table was reserved for bar guests. Keep in mind, we were paying the equivalent of $1100 a night in Amex points to stay here. About paying with points: my wife and I both noticed on more than one occasion that there seem to be two classes of guests at the King George: those who pay in cash and pony up $2k+ for a nicer room, and “guests” like us who are in smaller rooms and/or used points and are placed into luxurious broom closets. No breakfast or meals of any kind were included with our stay, which also seemed to be related to our paying with points, as every other guest I saw while checking in was told that breakfast was included. This was the only hotel (out of 4) of our 2-week trip to not include breakfast, and it was also the most expensive. There was no way to turn the bathroom lights on or off while you’re actually in the bathroom. The only light switch for the bathroom is next to the front door, or situated on either side of the bed. The floors of the bathroom are very nice marble, which turn into an ice skating rink with the barest hint of moisture. Helpfully, it was impossible to take a shower in the oddly-situated tub/shower combo without completely drenching the floor. TL;DR - for the price we paid for our TINY interior-view room- and yes, using points is still paying, despite what the front desk staff seemed to think- we could have booked a suite with a private balcony and an Acropolis view at one of the nicer boutique hotels in an even better location in the city. Learn from our experience. Even if money means nothing to you or someone else is paying, there are vastly better values in Athens.

Rooms were clean, comfortable and large. Easy walk to coffee, restaurants and shopping. Would not stay anywhere else if I return to Athens!

- WDWDolphinFan (10/5): Excellent hotel in a great location! - We had an outstanding 6 night stay here in mid-September. The location is excellent, and our “city view” suite had a great view of Syntagma Square and the Parliament, including the hourly changing of the guard. The hotel was elegant and old world style, and our suite had a nice layout. Breakfast at the rooftop restaurant was a delight, with a terrace with a great view of the Acropolis and the city, and a wide selection of options, including very good scrambled eggs and a variety of Greek breakfast specialties. The service here was remarkable - truly above and beyond, with bellmen and front desk personnel all greeting and welcoming us back every time we returned from an outing. Seriously - every single time, we were warmly welcomed back by multiple staff members. The concierge was also extremely helpful in recommending restaurants and a tour. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and I would love to return.

There’s is an indoor pool available at the building next store that you can access but we did not take advantage as an outdoor pool is more appealing. Location wise it was perfect for walking around Athens and making it over to the acropolis. 1 negative was the air conditioning stopped working mid stay so the room was pretty warm

Waking up each morning to a breathtaking view of the Acropolis was an experience I will treasure forever. There is something magical about opening your curtains and seeing history, culture, and beauty all at once. The combination of exceptional hospitality, comfort, and an unmatched view made this hotel a true highlight of my trip. I will always carry the memory of this stay with me, and I can’t recommend the King George Hotel enough to anyone visiting Athens.
