Breakfast was a fantastic selection, beautifully presented. All the team are helpful, speak English, and very friendly. The mattresses are the best I have ever slept on! I would absolutely stay again!

- Youngtraveler1996 (10/5): Great hotel for Florence Stay - Stayed at Hotel La Fortezza and had a really solid experience overall. The location is super convenient—close to the train station and about a 20-minute walk to the Duomo—while still being in a quieter neighborhood, which we really appreciated after busy days out. The hotel itself is newly renovated, very clean, and has 24/7 reception. The staff were all incredibly nice and helpful. We stayed on the first floor and found the beds soft and comfortable, and the showers were great (though the shower handle did try to pop off once). A couple small notes: the city tax is paid at checkout (we’ve more often seen it collected at check-in), and the mini fridge is included/free, which was a nice perk. For getting to the train station, we recommend walking on the right side of the park with the Ferris wheel—this route had less incline and better sidewalks compared to the left side, which was steeper and more worn down. Overall, a great stay—comfortable, convenient, and good value.

- Mhappy8 (10/5): Totally upgraded! Impressive amenities! - This hotel is VERY nice - we happened to stay while they were renovating in one of the newly completed rooms. Amazing, modern upgrades that you don't often find at this price level in Italy. Spaces rooms. Totally renovated. Keycard entry and modern amenities. The breakfast buffet downstairs was delicious and included in your stay. The location was an easy 15 minute walk from the train station right near a park. It's another 15-20 minute walk to the heart of downtown Florence.

- tourdest (8/5): Great location and lovely staff - The hotel is located two minutes from tram stop 1 which can take you close into the city centre and about 10 minutes walking from tram stop 2 which could take you directly to the airport. My room was clean and very spacious with plenty of storage space, lots of hangers & a very clean & modern bathroom. There’s a safe and a mini fridge with two complementary bottles of water. There’s also a kettle to make coffee/tea but flimsy paper cups not reusable/ceramic mugs. The bed is relatively comfortable, although I personally found the sheets, a little too rough and scratchy. The only downside was the room temperature. Florence was 25 Celsius and the heating was on in every room. I did ask on my 2nd night for the heating to be turned off, but then it became stuffy as there’s no other ventilation, so I had to leave the window open all night. Which also means you hear the constant outside traffic. Breakfast was decent, just eggs, cereal, yogurt and lots of cakes and pastries. I did find all the staff very friendly and helpful especially at reception and in the breakfast section.

- Gathergoods (10/5): Great accommodation, highly recommend - About a 10-15 minute very easy walk into the centre of Florence/Duomo square. After exploring around I think I'd much rather stay 10 minutes out than in the bustling city center, where cars cant access. Nothing was a problem with the staff they were great, from organising taxis to storing bags. We had newly renovated rooms (we had 2 rooms) & the beds were exceptional, very comfortable. We discovered a cafe just down the road Valu Cakes & Bakery - highly recommend

Petit déjeuner très varié, aux produits frais de qualité. Situation géographique à 15 min à pied du nord du centre historique. Nous avons été ravis de notre séjour.
- Basch1023 (6/5): March 2026 - It was a very clean and modern hotel. The stay was fine. It was a nice hotel. It’s not ideal for maneuvering with a stroller as every time you enter you have to walk up a long flight of stairs. The hall ways are very narrow. But the rooms were very clean and solid. Shower was great. Bidet was excellent. Breakfast was included but was just ok. As I’ve said several times throughout this process, the ongoing construction was disappointing. It was on every floor. The entire building was essentially under renovation. I almost felt like they should just close it down until it’s done. Was noisy at times. They also were sawing right outside my window on the outdoor stairwell. They had a clear view of my room (unless we closed the curtains which we did). The location is also not great. However, it IS right next to the tram that you can take. So it’s do able.. however, I obviously wish we could’ve just walked to the main areas of the city instead of taking the tram. But overall it wasn’t too bad doing that. Just was an extra step.

- Urs69 (10/5): Perfect Stay - What a gem of a hotel. Location superb with a bus and tram terminus within a 5 min walk. Hotel is currently undergoing a complete renovation but this does not affect your stay. The rooms are well furnished, clean, bright and amenties provided are kettle for tea and fridge with bottled water. The tea is replaced but not the bottledxwater. Bathrooms have large shower, bidet, hairdryers and shower gel and soap. Beds very comfy with 2 pillows. Staff are excellent, welcoming and helpful. English and French were spoken. Breakfast available to book separately if required. Comments - no coffee was included only English Breakfast and Earl Grey and no milk. We didnt ask for any so im sure it would have been provided. Cups on the tea tray were cardboard cups. Would have been nice to have a real cup but I appreciate it keep costs lower. Highly recommend this hotel, would definitely stay again. 10/10 on all scores

Rooms are modern and bathroom was fantastic (best shower ever). I do hope they can maintain some of the classic visual charm i saw online though. Breakfast was very good, a few more savory items might have been nice though. Originally thought it was a bit out of the way, then discovered a very convenient tram line at the end of the block. Excellent if coming in/out of train station. Very happy with the stay.
- Dreamer431587 (10/5): Great Reception Staff and High Quality Rooms - We stayed two nights at La Fortezza because of its location -- easy access to transport options to the airport at the end of our Italy trip, yet still within walking distance (1 mile) to the heart of Florence or to the train station. The room was very clean & comfortable, and the breakfast buffet was fine. But the best part of our stay was the reception staff — all three of the folks we encountered at the front desk were very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, as well as bilingual, just what you want when staying in a new city in a new country.

The rooms are clean and big. the price is the best in the area for such a great hotel. in good walking distance to the city center and also near the tram. Nothing. everything is perfect with this location. we have stayed many times. we will always choose to stay here. we never have breakfast though because we prefer eating outside so i would not be able to comment on the breakfast.

Colazione standard, magari metterei qualche attenzione in più alla qualità dei succhi proposti e qualche alternativa in più sul salato, i dolci buoni. Letto ottimo e camera adeguata al livello. I booked a double bedroom more than 4 months in advance and this is terrible. - Cristin.T (10/5): Alles was top – een perfect verblijf in een warm en vriendelijk hotel! - Hotel La Fortezza in Firenze is werkelijk een uitzonderlijk hotel – en dat zeg ik als iemand die veel reist en in tientallen hotels in verschillende landen heeft verbleven. Dit hotel heeft al mijn verwachtingen overtroffen. Vanaf de vriendelijkheid en het echt professionele gedrag van het personeel – van de receptie tot het restaurant en het onderhoudsteam – tot de dagelijkse, onberispelijke netheid, alles was perfect. De geur in het hotel is aangenaam en van hoge kwaliteit, en het design van de kamer, vooral van de badkamer, is gewoon prachtig. Ik maakte zelfs een grapje: ik nam een foto voor de douchewand en vroeg mijn vrienden voor welk standbeeld ik in Firenze stond – niemand raadde dat het gewoon in de badkamer van het hotel was! Zonder twijfel, als ik terugkeer naar Firenze, zullen we opnieuw in dit hotel verblijven. Het voelde als een warme, familiale plek, zelfs al was het onze eerste keer in deze prachtige stad. alles was perfect

It was easy to get around and the facility was really clean. The hotel staff during all hours of the day were super friendly and I really appreciated all their help with storing our suitcases and getting taxis.

- DeeHL123 (10/5): Very enjoyable stay - Had a great stay in this hotel. About 25 mins walk from central Florence (Uffizi museum etc) & about 20 mins walk from station. Very pleasant & friendly staff. Rooms very clean & comfortable. Breakfast was excellent.
- MarcusW257 (4/5): Room 126 “stay away” - We stayed in Room 126 and were extremely disappointed with the condition of this hotel. The pictures shown on the website and even in some of the positive reviews are completely misleading. They make the rooms appear clean, updated, and well maintained, but what we walked into was the complete opposite. The room looked old, neglected, and dirty. The bathroom shower was full of mold, not just a little bit, but thick buildup along the tiles and grout that clearly hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. It felt unsanitary and uncomfortable to use. The air conditioning system barely worked and never cooled the room down. We had to open the windows just to get air, but since the room was on the first floor near the patio, cigarette smoke from guests outside constantly filled the room. It made it impossible to relax or sleep comfortably. The walls were filthy and covered in scuff marks, the paint was chipped, and the furniture was stained, scratched, and worn down. It was obvious that maintenance and cleaning are not priorities here. The condition of the room looked nothing like the polished photos advertised online, which is incredibly misleading to guests who expect at least a clean and functional space. The only positive part of our stay was Elisabeth at the front desk. She was genuinely kind, polite, and did her best to make up for the poor experience. We have taken pictures to document everything described here, and we hope management takes accountability and stops advertising rooms that look nothing like what guests are actually getting.

Le petit déjeuner est juste super pour un 3 étoiles, notamment une salade de fruits frais, viande, fromage, miel naturel et des spécialités italiennes. Les chambres sont grandes et confortables. - David_B-Billericay (10/5): A good option for a weekend break only a short distance from the city centre. - Situated with easy access to both the T1 and T2 trams and several bus routes, this hotel is only 2 stops or a 15-20mins walk from the main city. It is nice to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city to recharge your internal batteries before going out for the evening. We had a Photographic Superior Room which was a good size and has recently been refurbished. Safe and coffee making facilities in the room and a 6ft / 2m bed. Good sized bathroom with large shower and bidet. A good breakfast with lots of options. A variety of coffees can be ordered or you can use the filter coffee. We had an early departure on our last morning and a takeaway breakfast bag was provided. Staff were very helpful and friendly helping us with tourist and travel advice and eating recommendations. No hotel bar (although drinks were sold from a fridge at reception). All in all a very comfortable stay and I would return if visiting Florence again. Tourist Tips: Evening meals at Il Clarinetto (5 mins from hotel) or Trattoria Guido; Lunchtime sandwiches from All Antico Vinaio (they are huge!); Pizzas from Garbo Pizzeria (try the Romano style); and ice creams from Gelateria dei Neri or Antica Gelateria. Take the bus to Michael Angelo Piazzo to see the famous Florence views. Trams and buses take credit or debit card payments on board, but the trains and monorail, from Pisa airport to Pisa station, require tickets purchased before boarding. Take a free 2 hour guided tour (1.20 Euro for headphone hire and suggested 10 Euro donation per person) – a bargain compared to the well-advertised tours.
- Duoadrift (10/5): At this price point, great hotel - 4 tips buried in my review. - At this price point, Hotel La Fortezza is a huge win! I secured one of the recently ‘refreshed rooms’, which I strongly recommend (Stayed in #218). The bed was comfortable, the room quiet and the décor modern. From the moment we checked in the front staff (Young woman during the day and in the evenings a gentlemen) were always welcoming and helpful. Bed was super comfortable, nice chill box in the lobby with a small selection of reasonably priced beverages and wines for last minute purchase. In addition to being a great hotel and wonderful stay, I will add four tips that make it even more special: 1. Pay a nominal amount more for the refreshed room when booking (Already mentioned but foot-stomping as important), 2. It is a 20-25 minute walk to historic town, and 2 minute walk to the metro for transit to / from the airport (12 minute walk from rail station). Take the metro direct to airport, two Euro per person and 27 minutes, so easy, 3. Walk to “The Florence Irish Pub” (5-6 minutes). If you need a break from Italian food – the wings, burgers, pints, service, vibe and music are all 10 stars. Finally, 4, If you advance book there may be an option to prepurchase the breakfast each day – we did that, at 7 euro per day per person which I found to be a valuable price point and definitely worth it. I do believe absent prebooking the breakfast it is around 15 Euro per person per day, which I would have likely passed on and eaten in town. My one suggestions and this is on the margins – they need more steamers / irons. Believe there was only one for all guests and you may have to wait if another guest is using it….would love to see one in each room, especially the refreshed rooms. Bottom line, strongly recommend, we would stay again and thank you Hotel La Fortezza!

Would happily stay again. The guy on reception went out of his way to help when our flight got cancelled and the hotel was full and found us another hotel.

- cappski (10/5): Excellent affordable option in good location - We were looking for a place that offered breakfast and was centrally located to the train and the sites we wanted to take in. Hotel La Fortezza was the perfect option. The staff was professional and courteous, the property was well appointed / clean and although the property was older it was nicely updated and well kept. Be sure to include the breakfast with your stay, it was fantastic!

- jessandc (10/5): A Caring Hotel in Florence 's Chaos - This beautiful hotel is just outside the busy city center, but it can reached within 10 minutes by foot. The rooms were clean, spacious and set up for travelers with appropriate shelves and places for suitcases and incidentals The front desk ladies (one in the earlier hours, one afternoonevening) were so very helpful and gracious with their time. Elizabeth spent so much time trying to help me with an airline issue, and map understanding. When we had to leave at 4am, they made sure we had a breakfast bag made up for each of us to take along. That meant so much to us weary travelers!
