Breakfast service staff very rude. Made no attempt to speak to us apart from asking the room number. When asked for milk my partner was ignored. Clearly speaking to other guests but we got ignored. It was clear this was because we were Irish. Although we did have basic Italian. Room was that of a two star rated hotel at best. Bed was extremely uncomfortable. TV was no bigger than a laptop screen with only one English channel (news). Shower was covered in mould. No public transport close to the hotel. Taxi to vatican area cost €25 minimum. Definitely would recommend spending a bit extra and staying in a clean closer to the centre as you'll spend the extra money on taxi in and out.

We initially stayed for 3 nights and had a great experience. We were upgraded to a lovely room on the 4th floor, and everything went smoothly. At checkout, we asked if we could have the same room when we returned a few days later for another 2 night stay, and we were told we could request it. However, when we returned, we were given a much smaller room. While this was slightly disappointing, we accepted it. When we politely asked if another room was available, the receptionist told us the hotel was fully booked and to check again the next day. The real issue began when we entered the bathroom. There was visible dirt, including a hair on the toilet, and the towels were clearly unclean. I went back to reception and asked if we could change rooms due to the cleanliness issue, but was again told no. I then requested for the bathroom to be cleaned. Shortly later a cleaner arrived with just a single cloth and no cleaning products at all. She did not speak any English, which made communication impossible. I then watched her dip the cloth into the sink, then into the toilet water, and proceed to wipe down the entire bathroom, including surfaces and the floor, using that same cloth. She even used one of our towels to dry the floor afterward. This was completely unhygienic and honestly disgusting. After witnessing this, I immediately went back to reception and asked to speak to the manager. The same receptionist told me she was the manager. Instead of listening to my concerns, she was dismissive and rude, telling me to “just say you don’t like the room” rather than allowing me to explain the serious hygiene issue I had just witnessed. She repeatedly interrupted me and showed no concern whatsoever about the situation. Strangely, she then offered to change our room despite previously insisting the hotel was full. I then watched her dip the cloth into the sink, then into the toilet water, and proceed to wipe down the entire bathroom, including surfaces and the floor, using that same cloth. She even used one of our towels to dry the floor afterward. This was completely unhygienic and honestly disgusting. After witnessing this, I immediately went back to reception and asked to speak to the manager. The same receptionist told me she was the manager. Instead of listening to my concerns, she was dismissive and rude, telling me to “just say you don’t like the room” rather than allowing me to explain the serious hygiene issue I had just witnessed. She repeatedly interrupted me and showed no concern whatsoever about the situation. Strangely, she then offered to change our room despite previously insisting the hotel was full.
