• limerboy1 (10/5): Location! Location! Location! - Really can't say enough about how well this location worked for me on a 7 day trip to London. The key is it sits between two Tube stations, one block off of Oxford Street. and two blocks away from Hyde Park. From there you can cover the whole of West London, which is all the interesting parts. We strolled down through Hyde Park to Buckingham palace, walked the length of Oxford, and took the Tube everywhere else. There was food around galore. Just a few blocks to the west is the start of the Middle Eastern restaurant district, but we actually more frequented Selfridges and Marks and Spencers department stores which are both a few blocks east and have good food courts, especially Selfridges which is well worth a visit. Pretty much every afternoon I had chai at Roti and Chai, an Indian restaurant within view of the entrance of the hotel. The hotel itself is quite tasteful and clean, and compared to say staying in San Francisco or New York I found the price quite OK. Shoutout to Iskander one of the concierge's, always polite and helpful, but the whole staff were great to deal with. If I am going back to London, I'm heading right back there.

• NowakMA (4/5): Poor on fundamentals, noisy with poor loyalty benefits. - Checked in on a business overnight trip as a Gold member, I was given a room called Trafalgar which sounded like an upgrade. It wasn’t, I ended up in a basement room with a blacked out window, level with the outdoor pavement. The room was incredibly noisy as you can hear conversations by pedestrians as they walked past. Given the window is not existent I don’t know why you wouldn’t notice proof the room better. At checking in I was asked if I wanted breakfast or points, I chose breakfast. The next morning I’m told that if I wanted two boiled eggs I needed to pay a supplement as this hotel has a strict (and very limited) continental offer. Really strange and whilst within the benefits small print the continental offer is very poor. Overall a really poor night sleep and poor breakfast, so failed on the fundamentals of what you want a city hotel to be.

• Bushra (8/5): Lovely hotel, good location. - Room was fine as I was travelling alone, on a single bed was a little uncomfortable would have been better if a little larger size. Bathroom was fine and clean. Locality was perfect as easy to get to my meetings. The people next door were very close and disturbing throughout the night and banging doors. I could hear their conversations in my room so I had to be mindful I didnt disturb them when i was on my phone. Rooms are too close together and the stairs were difficult with bags.

Just outside our bedroom there is a small flight of stairs, these are not carpeted, therefore we heard every person who came up and down these stairs at all times, it is very noisy. We were woken and disturbed by other patrons who came back into the hotel at 3am, as they appeared to "fall" up their stairs/were very noisy traversing up the stairs. My feedback would be to get these stairs carpeted.

• Rana (1/5): Horrible - they didn’t return the deposit . Scammers - Only location and they didn’t return the deposit. Scammers I booked a prepaid room via their website and contacted them several times to charge it – they didn’t. I had to make a second booking due to their poor communication. When I arrived, they charged me for both bookings plus a room deposit, without informing me. What’s worse, the receptionist took my card claiming it was just for the deposit, but then charged the first booking while I was standing there – no warning at all. Staff (Vivek, another Indian receptionist, and the British manager) were rude, unprofessional, and acted like children. The only decent staff member was the Afghan porter – very polite and helpful. Apparently, other reviews also mention overcharging – my mistake was not reading them earlier. This hotel clearly has a habit of this. Avoid. Total lack of ethics and basic customer service.

• Justin (3/5): First and last stay at a Doubletree hotel - Its location, cleanliness, most of the staff were attentive On returning from our night out we decided on a night cap however there was no bar staff and the bar was closed. I managed to get the receptionist to serve us in-between her duties however she was unable to take my order correctly but after 5 mins of explaining what I wanted I just accepted what I had been given as too tired and by then others had turned up to use the bar. I didn’t notice until the morning but I was actually overcharged! We returned back to our room around 00:20 and found that the bathroom fan running and was unable to turn it off. Seeing it was so late we didn’t fancy calling maintenance so just shut the bathroom door but a few hours later the drone woke us both and had a very disturbed sleep. Reported when we checked out and the receptionist just apologised for the inconvenience.

• MiaMayo (6/5): Decline in standards - We have stayed in this hotel many times and are honors members. The three stars are for the fabulous concierge, the helpful reception staff that gave us our room early, the comfortable bed and the location. The room, 215, is tired and really needs a refresh, the shower powerful but the bath is very high for climbing in and out of particularly when wet. A hazard to the non nimble. The worst aspects were the cleaning. It was sub par. I found a used fake eyelash on the bedside table .. yeuch! The phone had a film of make up on it that i had to wipe snd the whole room reeked of air freshener or carpet spray or some such. Even airing the room by opening the window all day in -3 degree temperatures did not shift it. Really unnecessary and unpleasant. I did not report the cleaning issues at the time as I feared a further spraying of air freshener would ensue.
• Chris Smith (10/5): Staff make this hotel a gem in Central London - Sekander, the concierge, was fantastic! He went out of his way to be friendly and helpful every time we saw him. The location of the hotel was also ideal for visiting all of central London and the rooms were very comfortable and quiet. The only small downside was that one of our 2 rooms was much smaller than the other. It was, however, still very comfortable, clean and quiet so no real complaints. We will be back. One of our rooms was much smaller than the other.
