The only minor disadvantage was having to climb into the bathtub for a shower. Breakfast was excellent, lots of choice. A special commendation to the very friendly and knowledgeable reception staff.

The direction noted that it was my wife's birthday, checking her identity card, and we founded a bottle of sparkling wine and the famous viennese chocolate cake, with a rose and a very nice letter. It was delicious and very elegant. Thank you very much and best wishes.

The staff are all very friendly, very knowledgable and very accommodating definitely a hotel worth contemplating if you’re going to travel to Vienna . Nice large double room at the front of the hotel. There was some noise from the road, but this was not intrusive. Good buffet breakfast. Will visit again and would highly recommend. The blend of past and present is seamless, offering truly modern comfort: the Wi-Fi was fast and available in all areas of the building, and the sleeping experience was excellent, featuring high-quality mattresses with an additional topper and a dedicated pillow menu. The room's design perfectly complements the hotel's overall style, creating a balanced and cohesive atmosphere. We chose this hotel primarily for its excellent location and close proximity to the city center, as well as my personal curiosity about staying in one of Europe's truly ancient hotels. Our expectations were met: the staff was highly experienced, attentive, and helpful whenever we needed assistance. We especially appreciated the cleaning, which was consistently top-notch. The only minor issue we encountered was the absence of a dedicated plug socket in the bathroom, which was inconvenient for charging a shaver or electric toothbrush. The restaurant, however, did not satisfy our expectations in terms of taste. While the staff there was kind and took good care of us, the food itself felt too typical and could benefit from a more sophisticated menu than the standard fare found in other local restaurants. We chose to dine elsewhere for our remaining two evenings. Despite the restaurant issue, I would definitely recommend this cozy place to my friends; it offers a wonderful experience at honest prices.

- Excursion747526 (2/5): Subtandard Accommodations - My wife and I have been guests of yours since 2009. We were always pleased with our sojourns until this year. Our room was unusually small as was the bathroom. The noise from the courtyard was terrible throughout our stay ; it sounded like a shipyard. It was also very difficult to gain access to the room as the lock was defective. I cannot tell you in detail how often we had to try before success was ours. When my wife could not open it herself she sought assistance at the front desk. The employee who helped her was unhappy with his assigned task and made his annoyance evident. One of the two ladies at the front desk appeared unskilled in performing her tasks. In other words, we were most dissatisfied with our stay.

The bed was very comfortable and the neck supporting pillow was brilliant. Good breakfast selections. Staff very welcoming and helpful. The location of the hotel is very good, easy to walk to the old city centre and museums. Less than 5 minutes walk to line 1 underground station. No.2 tram stop nearby that goes all the way to museum quarter.

From first contact with reception, via the bar and breakfast all the way to check out. Nice clean room, clean bathroom. Friendly staff all over. - cheshire3131 (8/5): Lovely stay - We stayed for 3 nights in October. This hotel is not a modern hotel in appearance as it has retained alot of original features and characteristics but has all the modern facilities. There are clocks everywhere but sadly none have the right time 🤣. The rooms are of good size but ours overlooked the inner courtyard which could be noisy at times. It's also in close proximity to a church which from 6am chimes every quarter of hour so you can't have your windows open but this is not the fault of the hotel. The breakfast I would say was average in it's choices but the staff there are efficient and friendly. The reception staff are excellent and have really good knowledge of the area, and will book restaurants etc and also asked us our opinion of where they'd booked us for future guests. Didn't come across any members of staff who wasn't friendly. Overall a great stay and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again if we were in Vienna.

The location couldn’t be better, with easy access to public transport and convenient Uber rides to the airport. You can walk to many attractions or take tram lines 1 or 2 to reach all the main sights. We included breakfast in our stay, which was excellent with plenty of choice. We also had dinner at the hotel one evening, and it was very nice as well. Overall, an excellent hotel that offers great value and convenience. Highly recommended.
- FiddleJoe (10/5): Hotel Stephanie is a great choice in Vienna - The Hotel Stephanie is a wonderful experience and a great location in Vienna. The hotel is old style with a lot of class and very friendly and helpful staff. It is located across the river from the center which gives you a nice short walk to get to the famous sites but because it is a cross the river it is calm and inviting. I wasn’t sure if this would be a problem but after the first day walking around Vienna I was glad to walk away from all of the noise and crowds and return to the Hotel Stephanie. Rooms, very clean and comfortable. We are at the restaurant twice and were very satisfied. They serve traditional Viennese food and it is very good. Again, a much more relaxed atmosphere than anything downtown. You should take at least one meal at the hotel. The breakfast has a nice selection and is presented well. The bar, well we spent some time there after our walks and very much enjoyed the beer and company.
- sarahhM9656GJ (10/5): A fabulous hotel - An amazing stay in this amazing hotel. Very ideally located in relation to the city centre with good access to public transport. The hotel is beautifully maintained. It is clean and tidy and very comfortable. The staff are polite and friendly and when we had an issue with a leaky tap it was sorted straight away. The food is good in the restaurant and the little bar area is a nice space to have a beverage. We would absolutely stay here again and will be recommending it to others.
- Michael (10/5): - Old hotel with a lot of character. Air conditioning was wonderful in late August. Enjoyed the convenience of having a mini bar in the room with reasonable prices. Breakfast was great. Only a few minutes walk from public transport, various dining options, and ice cream shops. Fun tip...If you do the Hop On/Hop Off bus to tour the city, there are two stops very nearby. That was very convenient, and I used it as my public transportation for two days. I enjoyed my stay and would stay again.

- GAGCasadeFamilia (8/5): Too expensive - Nearly 300 euros per night is very excessive for what it is. The “most ancient hotel in Vienna” thing is not worth the value. I was charged three different nightly rates for each day, between 295 and 317 euros!!

The hotel is in a great location, impressive interior, clean, tidy, spacious rooms (we stayed in a suite), comfortable bed, adjustable room temperature, excellent breakfast, and yet all of that is nothing compared to the hotel staff. Kind, smiling, unobtrusively present, ready to help and meet all our needs. Our little girl celebrated her birthday during her stay, and the hotel staff did everything to make her feel like a princess - champagne in the room (children's, of course), flowers, a cake, and, most valuable of all, a personal handwritten letter - a congratulatory note.The oldest hotel in Vienna has lived up to its name and the name of the city - synonymous with culture and decency - We wish the hotel staff many happy years ahead, and we will definitely be back.
- astride892 (6/5): Ok hotel communication cold be better - The hotel itself was fine, but the communication and attitude regarding parking were unacceptable. We had reserved a parking spot well in advance and had even exchanged emails to confirm this. Despite that, upon arrival we discovered that the parking was overbooked. The hotel insisted that we leave our car key at the reception for the entire stay so they could move the car if necessary. This crucial information had never been communicated to us beforehand. When we made it clear that we were not comfortable with this arrangement, we were confronted about it multiple times. The manner in which this was done felt intimidating and highly unpleasant. Because of the poor communication and the unprofessional, unfriendly attitude of the staff, we decided to end our stay early and left after just one night.

The building, the decoration, the rooms and the atmosphere were all very good and very special, The staff is very nice and helpful . We, me and my son had two rooms on the third floor, one to the yard and one to the street, both were quiet and big and very pleasant. I love the feeling in the hotel of old and new, the hotel has his old history as the first hotel build in Vienna in 1600 but is still very modern with everything we need these days. Breakfast is very rich, healthy, fresh various and very clean. The location is great, it is in the center and one can walk to almost everywhere by foot. all in all, we were very happy to stay there.

No GF biscuit or pastry, for a 4* I would have expected a little more effort. A separate toaster could be available (bring your own bread etc.) Not easy to have an afternoon coffee, snack or drink on the terrace which would be welcome. Toiletry selection poor for a 4* only bodywash and shampoo combined in the shower, I would expect shampoo and conditioner at prices paid. Perhaps catering more for the business traveller? Overall we had a nice stay loved the city of Vienna, hotel was purposeful
- Susan (6/5): 4 day stay - I had informed the hotel in advance that I have celiac disease its not a lifestyle option but a necessity to have a GF diet. The Celiac options were poor (so only ate breakfast), GF roll was soggy no other option provided (staff didn't seem to understand how to even prepare the rolls adequately) Luckily I brought my own toaster bags & tried to rescue the soggy offerings. No GF biscuit or pastry, for a 4* of this calibre I would have expected a little more effort. I have stayed in many hotels before some provide a small separate area, toaster (bring your own bread etc.) avoid cross contamination gives the celiac confidence. Buffet was ok, day 1 small fruit salad available, after that only canned peaches, (fruit available if you wanted to prepare your own fruit salad), not ideal. Not easy to have an afternoon coffee, snack or drink on the terrace which would be welcome for weary travellers. Toiletry selection poor for a 4* only bodywash and shampoo combined in the shower, for us ladies I would expect shampoo and conditioner at prices paid. Every single one of them was incredibly attentive, professional, and very warm from start to finish. I would particularly like to highlight the banquet manager and the restaurant manager. A big thank you for your patient care. The food is perfect, the room is extremely clean, and the all-round service is simply TOP! All our expectations were more than exceeded. - 728alw (10/5): Stay at Hotel Stephanie - Wonderful historic property in excellent location in Vienna. Sourrounded by history, but with its own history in addition. Rooms are generous, staff extremely cordial and helpful, Concierge very knowledgeable. Great breakfast buffet. Only a short walking distance from Schwedenplatz and transsportation around the city was great.

My only complaint is the staff can be very cold towards you, especially the bar staff. But the lobby and reception was really nice😊
- JMD_Belgium (10/5): 2 Nights in Vienna - A wonderful 2 night stay at the Hotel Stefanie. The location was great, being close to the centre (15 minutes walk) as well as good public transport nearby. The staff were all very friendly and helpful during the stay. I had a room on the 4th floor facing the inner courtyard, so there was no noise at all. Temperatures reached 36C during our stay and the air-conditioning in the room was excellent meaning a good night's sleep. The bed was also extremely comfortable. The breakfast was excellent with a wide variety of food, and with such good weather, we were able to eat outside in the courtyard which added extra charm to the stay. With all of the history combined with modern charm and wonderful service, I will definitely return to the hotel.

Enormous rooms and giant bathrooms, 2 minutes walk from the very centre. Staff were amazing and gave me an early check in. The sort of wonderful European hotel that are now becoming rare. Comfortable bed, good aircondition, nice view over yard and greenhouse, excellent breakfast with lots of fresh fruit such as papaya, pineapple, melon. But best of all is the staff! They see you, they greet you, they are there to help you with almost everything. One of the best staff I ever seen.

- NorthStar34007466730 (10/5): 50th Wedding anniversary celebration - my wife and I travelled from Dublin, Ireland to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary and found the hotel management and staff to be extremely helpful, kind and considerate. Beginning with a lovely gesture of a free room upgrade as well as a bottle of champagne left for us in our room on the 1st night! Breakfast was superb both food and service and we were lucky to have it in the courtyard each morning which was a beautiful way to start one's day. We could not stress loud enough how good this hotel was in all its offerings. Will certainly be staying again and will be recommending to our friends in Ireland.
- FlemishKid (10/5): Feels like home, but with the hard work taken out - Clearly the customer comes first here, all staff are exceptionally helpful, and they are sincerely so. Breakfast is elaborate and excellent in every respect. Beds are comfortable, and high enough to be easy to hop in and out of, for those of us who are less nimble than they once were. Airco and heating are fairly quiet and certainly effective. Privvy has it's own space and door. Everything is as clean as can be, no trace of wear and tear, no marks on the walls, everything is like it was installed yesterday. I slept like a baby every night, and that isn't often the case when I travel. Wifi signal and internet access are very decent. There's nothing that I can really fault here - if I'm picky, I could remark that having to stand in a bathtub is not my preferred way of taking a shower, what with a folding glass screen that feels a bit like a nasty accident waiting to happen. And because of the glass screen, there's no rail on the wall to hang on to when stepping out of the bath, either. However, there are anti-slip mats available at the reception, to improve on this situation. For anyone under 70, or intending to take a bath laying down, the shower arrangements shouldn't present a problem though.
- 118tania (10/5): Magnificent Hotel - The Hotel Stefanie is a beautiful hotel. From check in to check out I found the service impeccable. The rooms are large, mine had a great closet area big enough to store the luggage. The bed was comfortable and overall a really nice room. Breakfast was delightful - something to suit every taste, they even had champagne if you are that way inclined! The hotel is short walking distance to the main attractions of the city and 200 meters up the road is the bus stop for the Hop on hop off buses which are also good if wanting to get an overal of the city sights. If staying in Vienna I would definitely recommend
