- Gabriel (6/5): - Breakfast was great, staff were friendly, unfortunately the elevator was very loud and heard down the hall. Also the walls of the rooms are very thin and sound easily passes through. Location is very close to the Rome train terminal which is helpful but a good hike from all attractions. Lastly ran out of hot water very quickly so we had to boil water in the included kettle for any baths. Good hotel, but definitely not worth the price.

- Marouene (8/5): Great Hotel Near Rome Termini - Spent one Night layover on my way from Sardinia to Singapore. Loved the location, i usually stay in that quarter, few good restaurants nearby and very close to Rome Termini ( Rome Central Station) to hop in the train to the Airport. Room was spacious and clean, reception was ooen wven when i arrived late evening , there was also breakfast provided , although didn't use as i was running to catch the Train to Airport.

- Jing (10/5): - The hotel staff is very friendly, he allowed us to store our luggage in the hotel before the check in time so we could go visit Rome. The location is very good, it close to Termini, and bus stops are only 50 m away. Metro station is about 100 m away. The supermarket is also 50 m away. The breakfast was excellent, a lot of fresh bakery. The room was clean, only one issue is the bathroom shower door only cover half of the burg tub, so the water will splash out if we did not careful. Overall, it was a great place to stay in Rome!

There is paint peeling from the walls and ceiling, flooring is distorted due to water damage. Bed and blanket covers were dusty. The room had strong smell of cigarette smoke. The tiles in the common areas were all cracked and seemed like we were in a real historic Rome building to give us the experience. Walls were thin and we could hear someone coughing all through the night. Street noise, especially during the night was super audible. Wonder what the rating system even means with all these issues.

The walls are paper thin as I was hearing every person who flushed a toilet in the rooms on top or next to mine, not to mentioned anyone opening or closing doors. Breakfast is fine but not that good. 2 redeeming qualities are the good staff and the proximity to Roma Termini. I would not go back there nor would I recommend it.

- Kevin (6/5): a 3 days weekday getaway in Italy, ok stay here - The hotel has some issues on hardware that makes it hard to believe it is 4 star. We had noise problems and broken socket (and TV wire broken). However, the services provided by the staffs and managers are excellent. I would hope they upgrade the hardware soon (probably 2 stars), but with excellent services and reasonable Italian breakfast, the overall is 3 starts. It is also very close to the main station.

- Melanie (10/5): Nice Hotel - This hotel was pretty and had the best breakfast of our stay in Italy of 2 weeks. The rooms were fine and I even had room on the sink to place my things without them falling into the sink. This hotel had charm but still felt spacious. It overlooks a street in Rome. The front desk staff were helpful and nice. They let us keep our luggage there after we checked out for free while we continued to tour the city. This hotel was a good walking distance from some of the main sites to see so be ready to walk.

Next time we are in Rome, we would not hesitate to book this hotel again.

- Thomas (6/5): This Stay Was Not One I Would Repeat - This booking did not impress as a 4 star hotel by any stretch. Very dated, very basic. A 3-star rating in our opinion, would be more accurate. It was clear a lot of updates done on what is an old hotel. Still, our room was not impressive & lacked a 4-star level of comfort. The bed was not comfortable. Things like a coffee maker, kettle, face cloth were available but had to be requested thru the front desk. Although there appeared to be a number of English-speaking clients, no English channels were offered on the television, which would have been nice. Breakfast offerings were self-serve and certainly adequate. We walked the area in which it was located. There was broken glass and garbage on the sidewalks, which is in no way a reflection of this hotel but certainly something to be aware of when booking

Room decoration could have been a bit more modern and a little more variety for the breakfast buffet but overall very clean, good bed mattress and staff were very accommodating to any requests we had. - Nathaniel (6/5): Nice Hotel, Terrible Bed - We booked a superior room. The service at the front desk was great, everything was clean and the room was good size. The balcony was small and the room only came with one chair so we couldn't sit outside together. The hotel is situated on a small street so the noise level is relatively low. The location is OK, 10 minute walk to the train station, but a bit far from all the tourist attractions. The breakfast was not great. We don't care for Italian breakfast to begin with but most of the other places we stayed on this trip had sliced fruit and a better selection of meats and cheeses. We would not stay here again based solely on the bed. It was hard and lumpy which made for a terrible nights sleep. The worst bed we slept in during our trip around Italy where we stayed in ten different hotels.

- Susan (10/5): Great Experience - We just returned from a one week stay in Rome and our experience with the Hotel Villafranca was excellent. The priced was reasonable. The hotel's location was very convenient for walking to restaurants, metro stops including the Termini and walking to city sites. It wasn't in a pristine part of the city but it wasn't bad either. We were about a ten minute walk from the Termini station which connects you with all of Italy. The Castro Pretorio metro station was a 2 minute walk. This is the blue line that takes you straight to the Colosseum (2 or 3 stops away.) The hotel had a nice lobby with a bar and also a sitting area. Our group was able to pick up food and bring it back to eat there. The front desk staff was fantastic. They went above and beyond to be friendly and helpful, especially Serena and Joseph. They always got us where we needed to go safely and when we were trying to call somewhere unsuccessfully they offered to make the call for us and took care of the details for us. The breakfast was really good. They always had scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage in addition to various breads, cereals, meats, cheeses and fruits. When we had a very early train to catch or tour to meet, they provided us with a breakfast box to go. All in all we had a very nice experience at the Hotel Villafranca. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Need to ask for tea and coffee making facilities if you want them in your room. Great breakfast included. Would recommend to anyone looking for a good reasonably priced stay in Rome.

- Gina (8/5): Nice hotel - We had a suite on the 6th floor with a beautiful balcony on the first stay. Then we came back later in the week and stayed in a 6th floor room with a balcony. The suite was worth it.

- Mardi (10/5): What a great way to start a holiday ! - From the moment we were met at the airport until we were taken to the Rome cruise port we were more than pleased ! It was really appreciated that after our overnight flights from Canada and arriving at 9am - we were able to check in by 1030 ! Thanks to Valentino and Serena - cant thank you enough ! rooms were really nice and so easy to get to train station, metro etc. Serena also helped us find some new destinations as we had been in Rome before and she recommended a short train journey which we enjoyed. Every evening we relaxed (there were 2 couples) and CoCo (barman extrodinaire !) kept us cheerful with cold beers and munchies. Then he would direct us to a restaurant which we were always happy with. CoCo is priceless !

The staff was very friendly and helpful, our room was surprisingly good-sized, clean and quiet, and well-priced. It was an easy walk with our bags to the train station. We would stay there again

- Mike (10/5): Great hotel close to Rail Bus and metro - It is the second time we have stayed there and the staff could not do enough for us they were both very helpful and courteous. All of our questions were answered and breakfast is a first class choice. We enjoyed our second stay immensely.

- Verified traveler (8/5): Good value! - The location of the Hotel Villafranca was great! Close to Termini station and the metro system. Also, only about half an hour walk to the Colosseum and other popular attractions. At night the area was quiet and felt very safe. We arrived very early in the morning (around 1 am) and the hotel staff was very friendly and checked us in very quickly so we could get up to our room and to bed. The room was very spacious and clean. Only complaint was that the bed was very firm. Would stay here again!

- Laurent (6/5): - We stayed at this hotel for a long weekend in Rome. The room was very clean, nice and bright with a lovely balcony. Hotel is not exactely close to the main touristic areas but is at a walking distance from Termini (Rome main train station) and very close to a metro station so it's still a good choice for a weekend getaway. On the negative side, the room was quite noisy. We could hear our (noisy) neighbours and their t.v. as if they were in our room! Breakfast was not exactly what you would expect. All food was industrial and tasteless, same for coffee and juices. We stayed 3 nights but only had breakfast once and went out the other days.

- Markie (4/5): Good location, poor WiFi, breakfast etc. - This hotel is in a good location, less than 10 minutes walk from Termini, the main station in Rome, and a couple of minutes walk from another metro station. I would not rate this hotel as 4 stars, I would say 3 at best. The room was a decent size and clean, however, it looked very tired and in need of refurbishment. The shower is very badly positioned resulting in the bathroom floor getting covered in water. If you don't shower first thing the hot water is only luke warm (i.e. by 8.30am). The maid did an okay job of cleaning but wouldn't wash cups we used for tea or replenish the tea. The WiFi in the room was very poor, if able to connect at all it was quite slow. Most of the time I couldn't connect. The breakfast is okay, but nothing special. Consists of bread, sliced and rolls, for toasting, croissants, doughnuts, pastries, fruit, hot dog style sausages, scrambled eggs (that were awful), and some sort of bacon that was mostly fat, as well as tea/coffee and juice that was basically a glass of sugar.
- TP (6/5): Ok hotel a few blocks from Termini station - The hotel lobby was nice and breakfast was fine. The room was small, but as expected for this type of hotel. The staff was accommodating and nice to work with. Our toilet did not flush and although we asked repeatedly to have them fix it, each time they said it was fixed but still only flushed occasionally.
- KENNETH (10/5): Highly recommend this hotel and breakfast was fab - Our stay in Villafranca was very nice , would recommend it highly and I don't understand some of the reviews I read as I nearly cancelled booking after reading them. Thank God I didn't, a lot if not all of the negatives I read were completely untrue, it was a lovely central friendly clean big room modern decor ,A1 in my opinion. One thing I might ask them to consider is putting a microwave in the breakfast room to hear up cooked food eg scrambled eggs as they can get cool in Ban Marie (excuse the spelling) when there for a short time. But overall no complaints , we would have no hesitation staying there again.

- Verified traveler (8/5): Central clean hotel - Good experience. There was an incident with an employee who entered in my room with his own card to recover an object wich was found by me on the street. Strange event! I do not think that this is normal because I was there, sleeping.
