- crdaus (6/5): Average stay - I stayed at two hotels with almost identical room tariffs when I was in Istanbul recently of which the Sofitel Taksim Square was one. Therefore, I had an unexpected basis of comparison and I have to say, overall the Sofitel falls well short of the other I stayed at. Located just off extremely busy Taksim Square which is at the top of a hill, the Sofitel has good views of the Bosphorus although distant ones. I noted that maintenance is an issue – there was a cracked window in my room, a basin plug that didn’t work, slow drainage of water in the shower, and a general impression that maintenance is not a strong point as you moved around the hotel. It does have a ground level open terrace restaurant which is pleasant, but the executive lounge and breakfast rooms are located in the basement with no natural light and seem dark and dingy, although the food offerings are good.
- LeeAnn58 (8/5): Location good, service variable, clean and comfortable - Our review is very mixed. There were some parts of our stay outstanding and others disappointing. Our first room on the 17th floor corner room had a nice view of the Bosphorus but like Zober review we were woken up two nights at midnight with the thumping of bass music from the nightclub below. When I told reception they were rather unsympathetic and said they didn't think you would hear the music from the higher up floors. I asked to move rooms - next door was perfect - although no view - very quiet. What was Outstanding -was the housekeeping, Muzaffer was super helpful when I couldn't get the coffee machine to work - turns out it was faulty. Cleaning - perfect. Breakfast buffet and the attention of Irfan was first class. The food variety was great and everything was fresh.

- Moudjeb (10/5): My experience - I recently stayed at Sofitel Taksim Istanbul with my family, and our experience was absolutely amazing. We had three rooms for six days, and everything exceeded our expectations. The hotel is spotless, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the location is perfect close to everything we needed. The breakfast was excellent each morning, and I would like to extend a special thank you to Maher, Krisna, Ankit, Irfan, Guver, and Merve for their warm hospitality and wonderful service. They truly made our mornings enjoyable. At reception, Hatice was incredibly helpful and kind throughout our stay, and the housekeeping team was attentive, detail-oriented, and always ready to assist. We are really glad we chose Sofitel Taksim, and we look forward to staying again in the future. Highly recommended
- Expedition800390 (8/5): Clean hotel in a great location - Great location, excellent service, clean rooms, and great views of the Bosphorus. Muzaffer was great! On our arrival on the night, there was a protest around the restaurant, and we couldn't get the car close. They sent staff to move our bags from the nearest parking spot we could find, which was a super nice gesture.
- zobiar2023 (2/5): SOFITEL TAXIM ISTANBUL IS A 3 STAR HOTEL STANDARD - This hotel is certainly not a 5*. Shabby hotel and filthy. Same 30 year old furniture since the hotel was built. Service despicable. There’s a nightclub on the rooftop in the next building (after doing research) and I’ve been trying to get to sleep past 3 hours - I’ve just called reception and they were unsympathetic as said noise is coming from the nightclub next door ! After complaining volume went down ! If you really want a 5* hotel standard and professional service go elsewhere Shame on Accor

The location couldn’t be better: Taksim Square was just steps away, and Istiklal Street was right there, so we didn’t need a taxi for shopping or exploring. Plus, the metro station was right outside the hotel, giving us easy access to the rest of the city. There were several excellent cafes Hafiz Mustafa and Moda as well as restaurants to dine at. Highly recommend for anyone looking for comfort, convenience, and warm hospitality in Istanbul.
- FOXinBloom (2/5): Disgusting place. Deception. - We contacted the hotel by email the day before. We inquired about upgrading to a suite for the highest Diamond status in AccorLimitless. Garen Nazaretyan replied that upon check-in, if such rooms were available at the hotel, we would be upgraded. We arrived in Istanbul. We checked the suites on the Accor app. Yes, the suites were available. We took a taxi to the hotel. Upon arrival at check-in, Okan told us that an upgrade to a suite was not possible because they were out of stock. We showed them in the app that they were available and available for booking. The answer was: yes, we have three suites, but we can't upgrade. Why? Because there aren't many left. The first lie: there are no suites, but as soon as we showed them, they immediately appeared; there just weren't enough. I show him the email with Garen and how he promised an upgrade if a suite was available. Okan can't resolve anything. He calls Candan, the guest relations supervisor. She arrives in 20 minutes. She listens attentively to us. Okay. I'll contact Garen and resolve your issue. And then she just disappears. Another 20 minutes pass. We wait. We ask to speak to the general manager, but they tell us he's not at the hotel. I don't know whether to believe this or not. The receptionists ignore us, explaining that the case is complicated and we need to wait. When we ask: what are we waiting for? Is the room ready or is there a decision on our behalf? The unprofessional staff can't answer any of these questions. They just shrug their shoulders. Terrible unprofessionalism. Finally, after an hour and 10 minutes, a third person, Utku, arrives. He listens to us again and says he won't upgrade. We explain the situation and show him the email confirming that the upgrade will be granted if suites are available. We explain that we specifically came to the hotel under these conditions. That we have the highest Diamond status at Accor Limitless. To which he again responds with something unintelligible, saying there are only three suites available and that the hotel is almost full. The heartless Utku doesn't care at all. I ask: why did Garen deceive us then, or are you lying? They confirmed our arrival, and we're told there's no availability, even though there are rooms... Who's lying? No answer. It turns out everyone at the hotel is lying: from the simple receptionist, Okan, to the reservations manager, Garen, and guest relations manager, Candan. As a result, we waited 75 minutes for who knows what. We weren't upgraded, and we left the hotel in the silence of the unprofessional receptionists. No one apologized or said goodbye, or tried to somehow resolve the situation. Incidentally, we'd called the spa the day before, wasting our time booking treatments. But no one at this hotel cares. Avoid this hotel. The staff here are liars and unprofessional. We wasted a ton of time and stress, paid for two taxis to and from the hotel, and ended up with nothing. A complete scam. Avoid this dishonest place, the Sofitel Istanbul, if possible.

We decided that on our second visit we would come to listen to her. And we came, I want to share our impression. Nadya is really excellent musician! We liked her performance very much. She plays with her soul and creates special atmosphere at the hotel. She is a real artist and the face and status of the hotel! But I’m confused to see that professional pianist helps at restaurant with other things. For the first time in my life I met such a situation with professional musician and felt myself very uncomfortable. I think this is not good for status of 5* hotel.

I was offered a standard room for one night instead of the four nights I had originally booked! Considering the mess up no one spoke to me the following morning. Definitely not 5star service and not Sofitel standard! Lucky I didn’t stay here longer. I stayed at a much better hotel for the remaining 3 days! Would not recommend - chaotic and again ripped off over taxi arrangement to next hotel.

- thefoodieworld (4/5): The most disappointing Sofitel I’ve ever stayed in - We stay in Sofitel hotels a lot. This was the most disappointing experience we’ve ever had. It started at check-in. Despite arriving after the advertised check-in time, we were told our room was going through ‘final inspection to make sure it was perfect’ and would be ready in 15 minutes. Given we are Accor Platinum, we asked to wait in Club Millesime - more on that later. We were shown to the bar area and offered a free drink. An hour later and in desperate need of a shower after a very hot flight from Dubai, we asked what was going on. After being met with vague responses, a Guest Relations manager intervened. She showed us down to the ‘club’. Hah. Apart from some very stewed Turkish tea and a pot of coffee, there were no amenities whatsoever. About 15 minutes later, we were given the keys to a room on the 2nd floor overlooking the Bosphorus. The state of the room was hardly perfect. All the mirrors were dusty and smudged but c’est la vie. We were too tired/bothered to worry about that. We were even too tired to shower that night, just heading back to the club for evening drinks and canapes. Don’t get excited about the evening drinks offering. Local red/rose/white wine or beer. No spirits, no cocktails. Water, soft drinks. The rose/white wines were barely chilled, stuffed into an ice bucket. The water was not chilled at all. The range and quality of the food, however, was decent. The next morning we were heading out for a tour, so went down to breakfast first. Other reviews here have described the offering at La Table as exceptional. I struggle to understand how that’s possible. There was no love/care shown to the display. Cut fruit was just tumbled onto a platter and, when ordering an omelette, it was delivered to the table mangled and completely overcooked. On subsequent mornings, the omelette improved slightly but was way below a professional standard of cooking. The range and quality of local foods for breakfast was also very disappointing. We sat in the ‘club lounge’ for breakfast. The doors are merely thrown open for breakfast and there is nothing apart from the aforementioned tea/coffee there. You go into La Table next door and get what you want to eat and bring it back. Anyway, back to the room and into the shower. This particular room had a raised floor in the bathroom for the shower/bath. The moment we turned on the shower head, water flooded out over the step and through the bathroom/entry way. We cleaned up as best we could, reported it to the front desk staff who shrugged and said they’d report it, and headed out for our tour. On return, we turned on the shower. Immediately the water started surging over the lip of the step. We went back to the front desk who said the problem had been fixed. Sigh. When we said it hadn’t, we were offered another room on the 4th floor. It was much better, with no raised platform in the bathroom and an alcove with a small seat overlooking the water. In many other Sofitels I’ve stayed in, there is a pillow menu. Not here. It took 3 days and one of the few helpful staff members to track down a softer/lower pillow. Be aware that the rooftop bar has music which, interestingly, seems to start at 10pm. Bring ear plugs if that’s your preferred time to sleep. There is also a rooftop pool. If you’re seeking a shady spot to sit by it, you’ll have to go in the morning. There are around 8 sun lounges but it’s not a particularly relaxing spot, surrounded by air-conditioning plants. We didn’t use the gym/hammam/indoor pool in the basement. On departure, which was very early in the morning, we went to reception to check-out to be greeted by a distinct odour of cigarette smoke. I get it that smoking is a big thing in Istanbul and there is an external bar about 30 metres from the front desk which allows smoking/hookahs but this was 3am and the bar was closed. Not a pleasant experience. A few factors stopped me giving this hotel the lowest rating possible. Muzaffer, who serviced our room on the 4th floor, did his utmost to help. A couple of staff members in the restaurant area were also quite pleasant. The wi-fi was fast and worked reasonably well. Club Millesime however, was a total bust. If you don’t have Platinum/Diamond status with Accor and get it included, you’d never pay extra for this. It was absolutely the worst club lounge, from any brand, I’ve been in - outside of the US. I just can’t get my head around how this hotel won a Traveller’s Choice award.

- Tim (2/5): - Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend you booking the premium rooms. Whilst the view is beautiful, I wasn’t able to sleep at all. There is a nightclub on the rooftop and the music was playing until the very early hours. When speaking to reception, it seems that this is a known issue and the receptionist showed very little compassion. I question why sell these rooms at a premium price, if you can’t sleep at all.

I've requested from the bellman a luggage rack not received, I called the GR officer & asked for the luggage rack & another call to follow up after long time with 3 calls was delivered then asked for laundry to be picked up and waited and waited and waited and been picked up after my call to duty manager and then ordered salad it took them 45 minutes for salad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think the service is BELOW EXPECTATIONS and they have a serious issue with the service over all from 1st two hours.. I've been travelling allover and never had these issues all at the 1st two hours. Really very disappointed and I will contact the head-office to raise it up NOT RECOMMENDED Regards, Naji

Then at the hotel, they charged me full price. It’s been one month of chaotic emails: “you’re right”, “you’re wrong”, “we’ll do the refund”, “we won’t do the refund”. Still nothing. I’ll probably get the moneys back after Court, but what a mess.

We had requested three rooms on the same floor, but upon checking in at 6 PM, we were informed that the third room wasn't ready, even though check-out time is at 12 PM. We were asked to wait for 30 minutes, which was acceptable, but the front desk staff were unhelpful. When we finally got our room, it had a double bed instead of the king bed we had booked. The next morning, I informed the hotel, but they couldn't change the bed and asked if we wanted to move to another room on a different floor. This was quite shocking.Eventually, we moved rooms, wasting an hour of our time packing and unpacking, and the hotel didn't even offer to help. Pillows are like balloons, called housekeeping at 9.30pm for feather pillows to be sent up immediately, they arrived at 11pm. We had booked this hotel for the indoor pool, but when we went to the pool the next morning, we were told it was closed for maintenance. There was no notice on the website, nor did the hotel inform us before our arrival. The breakfast was also subpar; for example, they didn't have butter, only Buffalo cream. The bedrooms were tired, the taps were loose, the shower tile was slippery, and I am pretty sure it doesn't meet Accor brand standards. Honestly, we couldn't wait to leave the hotel.

The staff particularly Ankit in F&B and Fatih in Housekeeping were brilliant. Both were highly responsive and helpful. They both were not only efficient but friendly too. Overall a good experience.
- U3304HXelodies (10/5): No words to describe how much love we have for this hotel and our experience - It was total perfection. To come off a long-haul flight to this hotel was just incredible. The room is stunning (and huge), we got upgraded to the Bosphorus view (highly recommend), the bed is the most comfortable (to the point that my partner never felt me move at night - amazing), the pillows were fluffy (maybe too much so), the gym was awesome and had everything you needed (plus an amazing steam room and sauna), the breakfast was insane with so many options (we didn’t need to eat for the rest of the day), the staff were so accommodating including letting us check in 5 hours early (unheard of), and my personal favourite was the pool area which had the best music and an amazing view. Also a shout out to the wonderful cleaning staff who gave us heaps of water and were so so so kind. It was just such a privilege to stay here. A massive thank you to Candan and her team. We loved every moment. The short of it - don’t stay here if you actually want to see Istanbul, you won’t want to leave ever! We will always stay here.

- Irina (10/5): Don't be misled by the parking offer - Classy and well furnished and decorated apartment. Poor sleeping facility for the third person despite the pretty high price. We were attracted to the hotel for its parking, which was advertised on the website, but it turned out that it was not run by the hotel and we had to pay separately to a different company a lot of money for keeping our car outside the parking on the busy Taksim street all the time and we got stressed that it would be damaged by the flying by cars and bikes. There are cheaper, safer and more convenient parkings 50m away, so we felt misled and cheated.

- vickyed888 (10/5): SPLENDID SOFITEL! - Thanks to Turkish Airline's Stopover Programme, my wife and I had the privilege of spending two nights at the Sofitel. The hotel is very conveniently located with Taksim Square, the Metro station and Istiklal Avenue only a few metres away. With both the Metro station, the nostalgic tram and the Funicular neaby, it is very easy to get to places like Kabatas, Karakoy and Sultanahmet. The Sofitel itself has beautiful facilites. The bedrooms are spacious, comfortable and clean. The breakfast is varied and a good start to the day. The staff are all courteous and helpful. We hope to stay here again on our next visit to Istanbul.

A special mention to Tibet in guest relations who went above and beyond to welcome and advise us. Check out by Yajmur was efficient and well explained. Bagus offered excellent waitor service. - Mom_of_Scotty (10/5): Delightful Stay - We stayed in a club suite. The room was luxurious with Bosphorus views. What made it special was the housekeeping staff. They work hard to please. On seeing our kid during evening turndown service, they brought him child-size bedroom slippers with a 'little prince' design and an ungodly amount of chocolates. The breakfast had a wide variety of food and juices. Endless strawberries!We enjoyed the warm service of waiter Bagus from Bali. The evening canapés at the club lounge had a surprisingly small variety of food and drinks. But the good thing is, the lounge is open to only very few guests. We encountered maybe 10 guests at most, so it felt peaceful and genuinely exclusive. The spa, gym and pool facilities are state-of-the-art and impressive. The free sauna and steam facilities come with an ice machine to cool down. Had a spa session in the hotel's hammam and the therapist Deniz was the best! The only imperfection with our stay at the Sofitel was loud, thumping music from a club until midnight. So bring earplugs if you sleep early. This happened on one night, but the other nights were absolutely quiet. Overall, it was a delightful stay.

- HMF111 (2/5): Do not waste your money - I would recommend skipping this hotel for your stay. The receptionists aren't particularly welcoming or helpful, and the rooms really need extra cleaning. The coffee maker and kettle are not in the best condition, stained and dirty. No refreshment done like simply tissue unless you ask for! The room service isn't very tasty despite ordering simple cheese burger. Additionally, it's surprising to see street cats lounging on the reception chairs in a place that claims to be five stars! Overall, it doesn’t seem like you’re getting your money’s worth, so it might be better to look for a cozier and cleaner alternative. I'm glad my two-night stay is finally over! The one good thing was the gentleman who delivered my food to the room—he was very nice and attentive. Thank you, Mr. Mahmeed.

- 820nusrati (10/5): Excellent!! - We are frequent travellers to Istanbul and have stayed at many 5 star hotels in Istanbul but Sofitel has to be one of the best hotels in Istanbul in our opinion due to its prime location, convenience and beautiful views of the Bosphorus sea and the new mosque opposite the Sofitel and most importantly the wonderful staff who work there!!! We were given an upgrade by the wonderful reception staff - they were all friendly and went of their way to be helpful. Sadly I can’t remember all their names but Okan was very kind at the reception desk and his kindness was much appreciated. We went for half board and this was very helpful after exploring Istanbul all day. The menu was very varied and the food was delicious. Umut who served us was amazing- he very friendly and looked after us very well. At breakfast all staff were very efficient and went out of their way to serve us - sadly again I can’t remember all the names but Cho Cho and Ulku were very polite and helpful. The staff really are a credit to this great hotel. The spacious room, the aesthetic of the grant hotel, location and friendly helpful staff makes Sofitel the best hotel for convenience and comfortable stay! We will surely be back next year God willing - Inshallah!

- frankpO3921AS (10/5): Heavenly hotel - Recently, I spent a wonderful week at Sofitel [Taksim Square]. The staff [”Ambassadors”] made my trip unforgettable, especially Nadezhda. Each evening, she entertained us, playing the piano. She also dressed beautifully: gorgeous sequin dresses. Nadezhda also personally delivered some of my meals to my table. Other memorable “Ambassadors” were guest relations; Corsair; front desk; and the entire meal service staff. Unfortunately, I am permanently disabled. This staff took very good care of me, during my stay. Also, the breakfast buffet each morning is amazing! It includes custom omelets. Juices, and Turkish tea. I also had a relaxing massage in the hotel spa. In Istanbul, they say that “Each guest is a gift.” During my holiday, I felt like a treasure at Sofitel.

We understand that we came at 2:00 pm but room was not ready by that time as the check in at 3:00 pm some other 5* hotels they accept to handover the room at 2:00 pm Apart from that complaint all was good
- acitopapi (10/5): Great time in Istanbul - The hotel is in a vibey location. Very easy to walk around to lots of food and entertainment. It gets loud at night which is not a problem for me but could be to someone who values quiet times. Our cleaner was very friendly and did a great job. He even brought a toy for our baby.
