Everything was great aside from the surly, non communicative staff member on the front desk when we checked in. No explanation as to how the hotel worked etc. (it’s a bit more self help than other hotels). The advertised room service also didn’t seem to be an option.

Peter (10/5): Wonderful stay - will stay again if we visit Amsterdam again. - Very spacious room with great view. Location was excellent for our requirements - Rijks Museum and Cuyp Straat Markets. Enjoyed the self-service coffee and comfortable lounge area after we checked out and had a few hours to wait before going to the airport.
Sleepy (10/5): A very enjoyable stay - We had a very enjoyable stay. It was convenient for the areas we wished to visit. The view we lovely and it was by the canal. The room was very spacious and the beds were comfortable. A wide range of toiletries where made available. Tea and coffee were provided in the room and a small fridge. Although we did not have breakfast, a range of food and drink items were available to buy near reception. Also comfortable seating was provided there. We walked easily to most places and there were buses and trains within easy walking distance. The room we chose was quite expensive but it was in a very central place and the accommodation was a of a good standard. Nothing really. Apart from the one in the batgroom an additional waste bin in the bedroom would have been useful. It is good they have recycling bins in the room.

Ann (9/5): Wonderful stay at Avani in Amsterdam; spacious and bright room with great b’fast! - Friendly staff. Nice lobby with space to hang out. Great b’fast. Large room; we paid for canal view … worth it! Near museums. Not is the quaint area. A lot of walking to get to pretty charming streets … where rooms may be a lot smaller.

Nice fresh decor in public areas and bedrooms. Self service pantry idea is great and really convenient. Despite the comments below I was pleased with our choice and would recommend it. The (twin) bed was hard. Breakfast was not great value. Breakfast staff not very helpful. On one day we came down at the start of the last hour (10-11 on a weekday) a few of the options had run out and were not refilled. Also only one of the three lifts was usable leading to long waits. One was mid refurbishment and had a bad smell and the other was out of order.

Hôtel très bien bien situé près du quartier vivant De Pijp et des musées. Le centre est accessible à pied si on aime marcher. Le personnel est agréable et aidant. Le parking public à prix abordable près de l'hôtel était fermé. Stationnement très cher plus loin. Un des ascenseurs était en panne.

Good restaurants in the area but do make reservations unless you want to eat around 9 pm. A challenge to find. Near museums but you will need to use the trams and metro to explore city center if that is your plan. Lovely coffee and bakery area near the fairly close de Pijp metro station at Marie Heinekenplein. Avani Hotel was on the opposite side of the canal so we didn't discover this area till leaving.

Alison (7/5): - The room was very good. The location is good. The staff on arrival at reception were not very welcoming. The fact there is no bar, and the arrangements for buying drinks and food means that when in Amsterdam again I will not use this hotel again. Also it was essential to be at breakfast early, as it was a very unpleasant experience when it was busy.

Thomas (9/5): Für 3 Nächte einfache Top - Lage Top im Museumsviertel, nur ein paar Gehminuten entfernt ist der Albert Cuys Markt der täglich geöffnet hat und viele kleinere Restaurants und Bars rundherum. Das Zimmer war Top und sehr geräumig und sauber. Das Frühstücksbuffet hat alles geboten was man möchte (frische Früchte, Joghurt, Schinken, Salami, frisches Gepäck, Kaffee, Omelett, etc.). Öffentliche Verkehrsmittel ebenfalls nur ein paar Gehminuten entfernt. Wir kommen gerne wieder. keine Beanstandungen

Hotel is very modern btu has a lovely view over traditional amsterdam. It was warm which was important due to travelling in February (it snowed!). Decor is modern, room is very clean. Breakfast is extensive on the say we decided to pay for it. In a very good location to explore the city. Nothing!

Café da manhã com variedade, mini panquecas deliciosas. Na Páscoa havia ovinhos de chocolate á vontade na recepção, sempre flores, recepcionista super simpática. Fiquei muito satisfeita com o hotel. Na hora do café, talvez precisasse de um pouquinho mais de simpatia dos funcionários, uns mais que outros. Sem estresse. O dia está apenas começando. Vi funcionária estressada de ter que repor o recipiente da geleia. Coisas assim.
Kim (4/5): Expensive for a basic hotel offer! - Location is great, steps away from museums and other sites and landmarks. Do expect the sounds of ambulances and police at night at times though, at all hours - it is Amsterdam after all. I find this hotel quite expensive for a basic offering. Also compared to Avani in Asia, this is nowhere near the same kind of quality, offer and hospitality. The welcome was somewhat "cold", didn't feel very genuine, but this could also be the Dutch culture I'm just not used to anymore (have lived overseas for 28 years), the welcomes are a lot warmer at Avani in Asia. The room was spacious, which I appreciated, but there was a bit of mould in corner of the shower (forgot to take a photo). Room service menu was very limited and soon found out it wasn't even in operation when I was there, one should be informed at check-in what is and isn't in service. I played around with the room service menu via the app as I was curious, seemed like ordering breakfast in-room is half the price than when dining in its only restaurant - a basic setup, expect zero atmosphere, but decent quality and variety. What was very annoying however was every time someone closes a door near you, it's extremely loud and vibrates your own door - woke me up several times and therefore did not have very restful sleeps. This is common in many hotels, but was extra loud here! There's no bar or café, just a self service pantry area, which is great for quick service, but honestly doesn't help with atmosphere, there's zero of it, making it just a place to sleep, not to have a fun evening in / out. Based on having stayed at several hotels in Amsterdam, of which some rated 5 stars for cheaper and with a better offer, I will not return to Avani Amsterdam.

Ashleigh (9/5): Best city break I’ve been to and a highlight was the hotel! Will definitely be back! - I would highly recommend this hotel! The moment you walked into reception you were greeted with a gorgeous aroma and modern art deco theme! Table tennis, sweeties and flavoured water was such a nice touch! Staff were always friendly and happy to help especially King and a dark haired lady who recommend the best restaurants! We had the yummest steak because of your staff recomending! The room and all facilities had the wow factor. The room was huge and over looked the canal with lovely robes and yoga mat! The staff even surprised us with a bottle of bubbles and macaroons for my birthday. The small touches in the hotel go such a long way! I would absolutely come back to this hotel, great location and using the metro was so easy! Perfect stay! I will be back!
