Guest Reviews
- lucy (7/5): Still a good hotel that's seen better more vibrant days, needs a bit of an update - Rooms have a lot of storage space which was appreciated, bathrooms are on the larger side for NY which is also great, and I liked that the in-room toiletries are of a good standard, and that they even provide toothpaste. I think the lobby is looking a bit tired, not very welcoming. It's a shame that the bar area that used to be the other side of the lobby is not there any more. Also the corridor in the basement that leads to the gym smells overpoweringly of garbage which made this area feel seedy and a little unsafe as a female user of the gym.

- hillaris1979 (6/5): Great, except 2 deal breakers - It was overall GREAT until 2 issues:
(1) AC stopped working 2nd to last night so both of our last nights were miserable. We Had to call to get it fixed at 3am. Wtf does an engineer have to come to our room when they control it from somewhere else? Are you trying to save money? It was pure hell roasting in the room that wouldn't go below 72 degrees!!
(2) your front desk did not tell maids we had a late checkout. We paid $30 to sleep until we had to leave at 2pm because of the AC debacle that ruined our last day in the city. Then, the maid comes with an annoying tap with a key card at 12:30pm to ask why we are still in the room. We were sleeping (FINALLY) and then she ruined it. And we paid $30 for that.
We have 2 rooms for a week booked in June for Pride and I will be canceling both due to these issues.
Other than that, everyone was polite, friendly, food at Tao was good, rooms perfectly laid out for the size, great bedding. Annoying to have to call for ice, but whatever. Unfortunately the two other issues are absolute deal breakers and we will cancel that $8k worth of business with you because of it.
- timmP1296YQ (10/5): great location, fun maritime decor, helpful friendly staff - Great location across street from Chelsea market, a block from high line and subways.
The room is comfortable, with excellent bed. The maritime theme with wood paneling in room and large "porthole" window that opens with great view towards Hudson River is fun.
Staff were welcoming and helpful.
breakfast buffet a bonus.
- brittanypQ7943LD (10/5): Clean and access to everything - I went for work and met up with a friend that stayed with me. I chose the location since I had work in West Village, UWS and Crown Heights in BK. I'm from NY, so I know areas well and I always want close access to the trains and in a safe area that's not overcrowded. The staff was very friendly, the decor was nice and well cared for, the rooms weren't too small, had a lot of storage and very clean. As far as noise goes, you're in a city. Overall great experience. I will say there's steps right out of the gate when you enter the hotel. If you're expecting to walk right into a lobby and take an elevator, because you don't do well with steps, it may not be for you.
- Leslie (10/5): Great hotel in NYC - Nice lobby, very clean rooms, comfortable bed, great water pressure. Lobby staff was very helpful and also opened the doors etc.
- Q7871LUbettinas (10/5): a delightful NY moment - Wonderful in every way that you want a NYC hotel to be. Beautiful view, well appointed room , competent , warm and efficient staff. And some unexpected extras like being able to order a bottle of wine for your room as you complete your online check in- a very welcoming touch. An exceptional experience.
- berniechung (8/5): Great property, try to avoid surly front desk worker - Location is perfect right across the street from Chelsea Market and steps to High Line. Lobby is awesome with lots of comfortable seating, ice water, coffee and breakfast in the am. The front door, baggage staff were terrific. The only negative was the surly front desk worker during our stay who needs to be replaced or at least re-trained but I doubt it will help.
- Esther (8/5): - Cama super comoda y muy bien ubicado
- ameerq2022 (10/5): Great Stay at the Maritime - Very nice place, with a very calm decor and atmosphere, very friendly staff. Breakfast was included in the lobby which was surprisingly good. Location very near the Highline and Meatpacking District.
- joannemay1006 (10/5): Great Chelsea Hotel - Loved the location, friendly and helpful staff and the decor. I’d stay there again and recommend it to others.
Chelsea is a great neighborhood close to Hudson River and great restaurants
- je06365 (10/5): Favorite NY Hotel - Former New Yorker, I visit frequently, and this is my favorite hotel by far, although I usually can't afford it. It's such a great location, walkable to West Village, Chelsea, and more, and a block from the A-C-E so super easy to get around everywhere. The hotel lobby is a destination in and of itself. I always take some time just to hang out in the lobby and enjoy the fireplace and the serene vibes. It really creates a feeling of zen.
- F3716UMdenisen (8/5): Beautiful hotel, but noisy. - This was a great location for visiting the Whitney Museum downtown. The hotel itself is really lovely. Quite a few steep stairs to get in so that is something to know about. But beautifully designed and very comfortable. It is staffed with people all of the time and they are very. Accessible. No waiting on a phone or a long lines in the lobby. It is very intimate setting. We did have a huge issue with the noise, though the hotel is on a block with three very popular nightclubs and even though we on a high floor, the noise of the horn's honking to pick up and drop off people was constant and very, very intrusive. I am in and expect a certain amount of noise, but this was beyond the pal. Additionally, the police came and made several arrests around 3 o'clock in the morning and we also had a front row seat to that despite being on a high floor. I can't imagine even the sound is sleeper not being disturbed. It is something to consider about the location.
- Gianpaolo (9/5): - Beautiful hotel in Chelsea!
- CA_Kara (8/5): Nice if you can tolerate the nightclub! - Hotel is cozy. Rooms are nice and big. Shower was incredible!
But, I stayed for 5-nights and every single night was awakened by a rowdy crowd outside the hotel. The location is next door to a nightclub that must be open until 4am. For that reason, I personally wouldn’t stay here again.
- Denis (8/5): Good hotel in excellent location - Best location in NY. Close to the High Line, easy subway access, steps away from Chelsea Market. Rooms are quite small, but it is NY.
- Stephen (10/5): -
- KP_Heliosphaner (10/5): Restful, peaceful - Business trip. Lovely, peaceful, clean, convenient, helpful.
The portal window open—very cool but no bars or screen so be careful, it’s a long way down.
- heatherpJ1116OH (10/5): Excellent experience, will return! - Great location, friendly and helpful staff. Room was small but had everything I needed as well as some really nice amenities. The only caveat to my glowing review is that the gym was a bit small. That said, I would not hesitate to recommend or return.
- DowntownAviator (4/5): Avoid - Air conditioning didn’t work. Room was 71-72 degrees all night. Front desk and engineering wasted over an hour of my time telling me they would fix it when in fact they know it can’t be fixed. In the morning they tell me it isn’t broken and that’s just how all the rooms are. Then they tell me a manager will reach out about compensation and none does. Not a five star experience.
- Kimberly (9/5): Gem of a hotel in a great location - We really enjoyed our stay at the Maritime. The comfortable, stylish, and welcoming vibe carried from the lobby to our penthouse room. All the staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful. Everything was clean and fresh; the bed was comfy; and the bathroom and minibar were well-stocked. The location was great and a nice jumping off point for exploring lower Manhattan. It's a short walk to the Whitney Museum, Chelsea Market, the Little Island, and the High Line. Midtown is also accessible via a 20-30 minutes walk. Street noise at night, including honking cars and, weirdly, a bagpipe parade.
- davidnW9973JG (10/5): Will return - The location was perfect for me as I was attending business meetings in the area My room, though small, was very quiet and comfortable. Comfy bed. Slept like a baby. Continental breakfast had everything I wanted and needed — healthy options. Reception staff and supporting team were friendly and efficient. Given the hotel options and prices in NYC, the Maritime is a good value.
- N5004QKnicolaa (10/5): excellent visit and service! chic mcm decor! - i went bc of the history and design of the building but was pleasantly surprised by how lovely the staff was. while i did not eat any of the food, the breakfast layout looked abundant. the room was a bit smaller than i expected but the view out the window was so nice- with a slice of the hudson and skyline of chelsea. will def go back bc of all of the above plus the cost was better than others i was considering.

- Q6050RYjulied (10/5): Wonderful location, clean rooms and great staff. - My daughter and I have stayed at the hotel 3X over the last two years. Love the location, clean rooms, great breakfast and super friendly staff. We will come in the future as well. It has everything we would want.
- Marla (9/5): A charming hotel in a great, walkable part of the city. - Such a fun space; the woodwork and “ship” feel of the hotel was really wonderful.
The porthole windows overlooking city buildings was a nice surprise as was the quite impressive continental breakfast. It’s a great location, especially if you are a walker as it’s only a few blocks from the High Line, Little and Chelsea Market. It was great - no complaints
- Siofra (8/5): Loved it, will definitely be back. - Really enjoyed my stay at the Maritime - a traditional, old school hotel. Lovely warm, welcoming atmosphere, and personality (unlike the usual chain hotels). Continental buffet included was a very nice surprise, fully stocked mini-bar in the room. Exceptionally clean bedroom and bathroom. Free wifi, room service from TAO available. Not negatives in any way but something to be aware of - the TV doesn't connect to streaming apps, and there is no bar/restaurant in the hotel (but there are obviously 000's on the doorstep!)
- 956stefanieh (10/5): The perfect stay - I cannot say enough good things about The Maritime. The hotel itself is in an incredible location-- super close to the subway, chelsea market, chelsea piers, and many restaurants and coffee shops. We felt incredibly safe walking everywhere. The staff is incredibly kind and eager to help with any request we had. We loved the lobby/library-- it was so cozy and personal (so different than the usual sterile vibe most hotels give). Breakfast was simple but adequate. Hotel is gorgeous and unique. Room (standard queen) was small (as expected) but had a great layout and was super clean with great amenities. We signed out the complimentary bikes for a few hours and rode along the chelsea piers in the (safe) bike lanes on our last day-- it was a perfect ending to our stay.
- audrey BOIS (7/5): So so - Good location. Nice team Very simple room. Bad breakfast
- 111candidat (10/5): Great views from every room and friendly staff - I love the views of the city from every room. The location is great with cafes and restaurants nearby, a great walking neighborhood.! The subway is at the end of the block and connects easily with the major airports. There can be street noise, cars honking, especially on weekends, but they provide earplugs on the night stand!
- JoeDam2018 (10/5): Unique and comfortable experience - A unique looking and interesting hotel. I think the pricing was appropriate. It's labeled as a four-star hotel. I think that's accurate. The atmosphere was really nice. Very comfy and stylish lobby area. Fireplace, couches, a conference table with comfy chairs. Felt like an eclectic living room. Continental breakfast. Ice water, coffee and tea available 24/7. Friendly staff. All of the fixtures and decorations were visually appealing. Room was very clean. Small but comfortable. Queen bed was a little firm but got used to it. Cute toiletries. Quiet hotel. Heard honking on street at night, but it's NYC, what are you going to do. I put on a noise machine and it was fine. Close to Highline and Chelsea Market, lots of restaurants, coffee shops. A few minute walk to the subway. Parking lot right next to it which accepts hotel validation.
- StevenR814 (10/5): Charming Chelsea Market Hotel - Another really nice stay at this charming hotel. Great location, great staff and service, great value, and a great location.
- Nadya (7/5): -
- ralphn925 (10/5): Loved Our Stay - Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, a quiet hotel in New York is a rarity. Great location and close to transportation. Every staff member at the hotel was friendly and helpful something you do not encounter a lot of places. It was fun to listen to the various languages being spoken while in the hotel.
- tonyacY6544QM (10/5): My favorite in meatpacking. - My favorite place to stay in meatpacking. Great location and great overall vibe. The rooms are perfectly laid out and cozy and welcoming. Bathrooms are always clean and simply designed. With plenty of counter space. Miss the bar and restaurant though.
- GoPlaces39031773357 (10/5): Great hotel, location, decor, comfort. - Great hotel, cute lobby with lots of chairs, couches to lounge, read or hang out. The room was very well designed with great use of space. We liked the little shelves next to the bed with lights and charging outlets, cute window. The bathroom was nice, great water pressure, robes, towel rack and toiletries (shampoo/conditioner, body wash, lotion toothpaste etc.) Near subway.
- Alexander (9/5): -
- Barbara (9/5): We like the hotel very much. - we love the location , the ambiance and decoration, staff and building.
Breakfast was very good.
Staff was very helpful and always ready to assist.
They let us check in before the indicated time which was really convenient for us.
Check out at noon is also appreciated. Pillows were not very comfortable, we asked for a couple more firm ones.
The stairs at the front door were not very convenient.
- billkY3520QD (10/5): NY weekend trip with daughter. - Great location across the street from the Chelsea Market. Quiet rooms, very friendly staff. Good continental breakfast included.
- Vadim (10/5): -
- ashleybG3590CP (10/5): 10/10 no notes - great location! cozy atmosphere. very friendly staff - incredibly accommodating. clean rooms. pets stay for free! enjoyed every second!

- SAE-22338 (10/5): Great Choice ! - Absolutely wonderful experience - from staff to quality to breakfast to location . . . The Maritime is an excellent choice. Rooms are on the smaller side, but that’s New York.
- 68nikov (10/5): Excellent Two-Night Solo Stay - I had a lovely two-night solo stay at The Maritime. I came into the city to see some live jazz, and the Maritime’s proximity to Greenwich Village was great for me. My room was clean, I enjoyed the understated nautical decor, my check-in was smooth, and the few staff members with whom I interacted were all pleasant and helpful. I stayed on the fourth floor, and had two nights of quiet uninterrupted sleep.
- NinontG (10/5): Amazing Experience at The Maritime! - We had an amazing time in NYC and The Maritime Hotel was beautiful! The staff is so nice and accommodating and sent us a bottle of Champagne to celebrate my birthday! They were always smiling and ready to help. Will definitely stay again on our next visit!
- etimor (10/5): Great hotel in Chelsea - Great hotel. Location is super convenient next to Chelsea market. Hotel is clean and well kept, super friendly and helpful staff
- R9898ZLcristianl (10/5): Convenient, clean, tiny room but super quiet. Way too expensive in my opinion for what you get. - Location was super convenient for my business trip.
Room was a little too small, but it was clean inside and great for just crashing overnight for my short trip.
Surprisingly there was not a lot of noise coming from outside except for very few emergency vehicles sirens.
Price was way too high and the only negative I can think of.
- stephen (9/5): - Great location, nice staff, straightforward comfortable room, good lobby area to hang out in by the fire
- Gsocash12 (10/5): Perfect weekend stay - Awesome experience! I have visited NYC a number of times, staying at a range of hotels including 5 star ones. This hotel is perfect. Cozy, just the right size. The rooms are a little small but somehow space is utilized well enough where it doesn’t feel cramped. The theme is all about being on a ship - windows are fun and general vibe is as well. Staff is EXCEPTIONAL. Free Breakfast is surprisingly good! Highly recommend.
- TedB1954 (10/5): My new go-to spot in Chelsea - Great hotel. I enjoy how the nautical theme turns the compact size into an experience (plus the room and hallways. aren't uncomfortably small, the window opens and the the lobby is a lovely lounge area.) The front desk staff and note welcoming me back by name has turned me into a superfan.
- MATTHIEU (7/5): -
- Annette (10/5): -
- Adriana (6/5): - Room is above the club and was very loud. When i asked for help moving at first I was told the hotel was booked. then that there was no room service that could help set up another room. loud
- Monica (8/5): Mycket härlig stad - Bra och lugnt område Frukosten kunde varit bättre.
- Melanie (8/5): We were happy with the Maritime, would stay there again. - Good location, quiet, comfortable Expensive
- rosamundvincy (10/5): gushing review - If you too are a member of the petty bourgeoisie who loves nice hotels and is poring obsessively over online reviews desperately trying to figure out if this one is worth it, let me cut to the chase: YES!
You may have been deceived before by a hotel you thought would be nice but wasn't (looking at you, Soho Grand), and feeling anxious that you might again spend many hundreds of dollars on a subpar experience... Fear not! The Maritime Hotel is The Truth. At least, if you are the sort of person who loves an iconic mid-last-century building pretending to be an ocean liner, and a totally gorgeous interior aesthetic and wonderful lobby and the nicest staff in Manhattan, you will love this place. I guess it seems like a lot of people must prefer a more soulless and bland corporate hotel experience, but if you cherish the warmth of a unique and lovely nautical aesthetic with all the comforts of a good hotel, you could not do any better than this.
We stayed in a junior penthouse, which seemed pretty giant to me for a New York hotel room and was quiet as a tomb. This worked out great for our purposes -- family members convening from out of town on a chilly, rainy weekend -- so if you're planning to spend a lot of time in the room socializing with your clothes on, I might recommend that because there's space to hang around. But I bet the smaller rooms are cool too and the large lobby, with its awesome murals and tons of books, is delightful for lounging.
Location is great, a short walk to the Whitney, West Village, Eighth Avenue line, etc. And again, the staff are all pros, and very nice. The current on-site bar is weird and it seems like this place deserves a classic hotel bar, but there are about 6,000 other bars within a stone's throw of its doors, so who cares. I suppose it is theoretically possible that if you stay here, you may be disappointed in some way, but it's impossible for me to anticipate how, and if you are, it may be more about you than about the Maritime, which seems pretty much above all reproach to me.
- romert2026 (10/5): Comfortable and Beautiful hotel - Wonderful customer service, very accommodating and friendly, great recommendations and even better location, great perk with TAO right next door
- Jayjaywindycity (10/5): The best place to stay in New York - The Maritime is my favorite hotel. The folks who work there are kind, fun, smart, helpful and quick. Some of the maid have been working her for 30 years plus. I feel home when I stay there.
- DLV1121 (10/5): Lovely Hotel for any type of stay in NYC! - Best smaller hotel in the center of everything! The location is perfect - close to metro and easy to get most places on foot. The hotel is impeccable with lovely and well appointed rooms that make the stay memorable. The place is private and quiet all day long. The lounge area is great for breakfasts or just reading newspapers. We stayed here for our family reunion and everyone was more than happy with this place. We all highly recommend this hotel and we will stay here again on our next visit to NYC!
- Kamer was goed.
- pierrecW5604AA (10/5): Very nice stay - Very good location, friendly staff, clean and warm bedroom.
Nice and cosy lobby.
Rather quiet despite nearby nightclub.
- DeniseTr (10/5): Cozy luxury in a great location - We chose this hotel mainly for its Chelsea location, especially its proximity to a subway station & the Chelsea market. A great decision, as the Maritime offers impeccable amenities and comfort. The continental breakfast in the lobby was satisfying and convenient. Service is friendly and efficient. Our room was cozy, yet roomy by NYC standards, well furnished with whatever we might need (including an umbrella, which came in handy!)
- 365glens (10/5): Great Chelsea spot - Great location, friendly staff and interesting motif with comfortable beds and bedding. Bathrooms are a bit small (sink) but shower and toilet were excellent.
- ktw26 (8/5): Lovely staff, comfortable rooms, good location, a little dated - I was a little hesitant about my stay here as it's an older hotel but I found my room to be comfortable and while a little musty I would consider staying here again if the prices are as reasonable. I paid just under $300 a night in Dec. and had room 801 which was pristine and spotless each day-kudos to housekeeping! By city hotel room standards I thought the room had plenty of space especially as a single traveler. The staff at the hotel was fantatstic. The hotel's location is fantastic. That said, the restaurant was under construction during my stay and that was a bummer and should have been communicated in advance of the stay. The breakfast they serve is nice but the coffee is terrible. The room is dated with a tv from 2001 and very few outlets. The room also lacked air circulation and while I was told that the porthole windows open, opening them seemed like a lot. Just as a note to those who recommend Chelsea Market as an alternative to a hotel restaurant--I can't think of a worse place other than Times Square in Manhattan. Prices in the CM are 40% higher than they should be and the quality is poor.
- DanF1546 (10/5): Super great place to stay - I loved this hotel. Such great employees there too. It’s comfy and cozy - really nice without being too snooty and fancy. You can dim all the lights yo your liking and it has cool round windows.
- Erica (9/5): Amazing location, gentle staff. - Amazing location, comfortable room, gentle staff. The gym is not good.
- 615christiangabrielr (10/5): If you’re looking for a great view like you’re on deck, visit Maritime Hotel! - The atmosphere was very “aesthetic,” which I thought would undermine the quality of the stay. But they exceeded my expectations with how friendly their staff are, how beautiful it is to wake up and look out their window, and just having a generally pleasant experience.
100/10 would come back!
- B9479WZtracys (10/5): Clean hotel with friendly staff - Very clean hotel with friendly staff.
Slightly away from the hustle and bustle of central New York.
Only comment would be to have tea and coffee making facilities in the room
- Ania (10/5): - Quiet and clean.
- PercGuy (10/5): Chelsea gem - Great location. Comfortable room. Friendly and helpful front desk staff. Good selections at breakfast (good coffee too). Recommend, hope to stay there again.
- Well321 (10/5): Charming Chelsea stay - Charming, compact and well-appointed and comfortable hotel with attentive staff. Great welcoming ambience. Ideal location for High Line, Hudson Yards, the Whitney museum, Chelsea and Meatpacking district and easy access to subway 1 block away.
- Dubach (10/5): -
- Rita Helena (10/5): -
- Rob06525 (10/5): This hotel is a gem! - This hotel is a gem. The rooms are small, but very functionally styled, like a ship’s cabin. Even in its limited space, there is a comfortable bed well positioned to look out the giant porthole window, too comfortable, sitting chairs in a small table, and a well appointed, but again in small bathroom. The staff is very friendly, the breakfast is fantastic in the mornings in the large lobby, and the in room treats and alcohol are actually quite well priced for what they are.
- S5985HBtravisw (10/5): Elegant and welcoming. - Perfect. Classy without pretense. Kind and accommodating staff. Exceptional attention to detail. Never fails to impress.
- Darrel (10/5): -
- 100hadleyb (10/5): Wouldn't stay anywhere else - Just checked out after a three-night stay at Maritime with my mom. We each had our own room and were placed next door to each other, which was great. Maritime was our haven in the middle of New York. In addition to its excellent Chelsea location, its lobby is a bibliophile's dream. Bookshelves crammed full of hardcover and nonfiction books, comfy chairs and sofas, a warm fireplace, a chill vibe, quiet fellow travelers, many from Europe, and incredibly gracious and genuinely kind staff.
Hotel room was neat as a pin and housekeeping was wonderful. We were on the fourth floor and experienced no noise issues. The continental breakfast is incredibly generous and the time it is available accounts for both early birds and late risers. It's rare to see a boutique hotel in New York offer breakfast and free wi-fi. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.
- jimsJ3458ZK (10/5): Recommending The Maritime Hotel - Very friendly and helpful staff. Given the cost of NYC hotels, its' a relatively good value for the money. The Chelsea location is good.

- Manchester_1985 (10/5): Fantastic experience - Fantastic four night stay at this hotel. The rooms are very clean. You can hear some outside noise but even as a light sleeper I could sleep through it. The breakfast includdd cereal, fruit, yogurt, various pastries and cakes with coffee or tea (including English breakfast) to drink. The staff are really friendly and helpful too.

- timothya986 (10/5): You will be very happy you did - Great staff and great location! Very comfortable stay all the way around. Couldn't have been any better ! So glad this was out choice
- 111candidat (10/5): Great views from every room - The Maritime is in a great location with lots of great food choices nearby. There is plenty to see and do in this neighborhood. The A C E subway line is just at the end of the block so it's very easy to get to any of the airports and train stations or anywhere in the city. But what I like most about this hotel is that every room has a great view of the city and all face west, so often you will see the sunset behind the high rises and across the Hudson. The lobby has a vibe of a 1940's ocean liner and you wouldn't be surprised to see Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack lounging in front of the fireplace!

- Carla (9/5): Good value for Manhattan, solid 4 star hotel with charm - Awesome shower, decent room size, warm nautical theme, nice bathroom touches, great location to highline and waterfront, super friendly staff, good continental breakfast Lower price per night. Sandwiched between 2 nightclubs but it was not loud.
- CarlaM2188 (10/5): Best shower ever! - Nice warm decor, excellent shower, decent room size, great location, friendly staff, good continental breakfast. Was expensive but I suppose a good value for manhattan! I’d definitely stay here again
Adoramos absolutamente tudo
