Great service and attention to detail. Special mention to Mahmud who helped everyone during the situation and came back from home to support clients at the hotel. Thanks to Khodarahm who always has a smile on his face and provided help and advices. Shangri-La Dubai didn’t disappoint and felt like home.

- 721miryc (10/5): Outstanding Experience at the Sangri-la Hotel, Dubai - I’am currently staying at the Shangri-la Hotel in Dubai, and the experience is outstanding. The staff are incredibly kind, and the customer service is top-notch. I especially want to highlight Khodarham, who works at the entrance. He is a wonderful guy, always with a smile, and extremely friendly. He informed us perfectly about everything we needed, and I feel very well taken care of. Without a doubt, I will recommend it 100%.
- yasmingQ9292OL (8/5): Luxury experience - minus the pool loungers - Faultless service at this hotel, beautiful rooms and views, and well-worth upgrading to a club room so you have lounge access and benefits. The beds were also extremely comfy and I slept incredibly well. The only reason why I've not given 5 stars is because one family from the residence would hold sun loungers all day and night for the week when we visited (even when they didn't use them, they always secured the best spots). Pool staff didn't monitor this, which doesn't feel like a 5 star experience. Everything else was fantastic - especially service!

When you establish yourself as a 5-star hotel, it is all about the little details. Details that may seem trivial to some, are important to me. Things like the A/C working and on when I get to the room. The view as promised. The requests that were asked for ahead of time, were granted with such care. My wife loved the Bronze package that your staff prepared for our anniversary. The shower has enough water pressure. The ability to change denominations of local currency at the front desk. There were so many things that I could not remember them all. The attention to detail is what I look for the most, and I am not impressed much, but I was impressed with your establishment and I recognize it as a true 5-star hotel. I am not that good with names , but the entire staff was kind and thoughtful at every moment, and I want to give a special shout (and forgive my pronunciation) to the gentleman at the omelette station , who after the first day, already new what my order would be and made it with a smile. I think his name was Onom or Ono. He made me and my wife those omelettes with the skill of a Michelin star chef and with so much kindness. As mentioned in the begining , while I tried , I could not find anything wrong with your hotel, staff or services, which is why I consider it a true 5-star establishment, and having the opportunity, I would stay there again. - kapiljoy33 (6/5): Average stay in 3-Bedroom Apartment Room - We stayed at Shangri La Dubai for five nights from Boxing Day to New Years Eve (Dec25) in a 3-Bedroom Apartment/Suite for my family and I. We were travelling with our young children and grandparents so the additional space of the room was welcomed. The space was huge, very spacious and we each had our own bathroom to use. However, the room is showing its age and is need of a refurbishment. It’s just not up to the normal Shangri-La standards. We also had an issue with one one bedrooms smelling with cigarette smoke. We complained and whilst it was handled quickly by the management team, they were unable to resolve it which was disappointing. The location of the hotel is good, on a busy road but close to get to the usual downtown attractions and a local metro nearby. The breakfast at the hotel is another issue we were made to wait for tables due to capacity/space issues. When travelling with young children, this isn’t ideal. The upgrade to use the lounge facilities was offered at check-in and we were glad we decided to pay for this. It includes access to a high floor area for afternoon canapés and evening snacks. Drinks including alcohol is also served. This helped when travelling with our family. The staff there (Keith and the team) made an effort to make us comfortable. Service overall was ok. They tried their best with making our trip special as it was my father in laws birthday. The staff arranged cake, cards and balloons which was a nice touch. Overall would we stay here again? No, I think the quality of the hotel together with the room issues were a problem. I wouldn’t recommend staying here to either friends or family. However it did meet our space needs burning city like Dubai where they’re lots of five star hotels I think this Shangri-La has a lot to do to improve.

Location is great for Dubai Mall / Burj Khalifa, either by complementary hotel shuttle of nearby Metro station. Every detail was flawlessly executed, from the beautifully appointed, featuring a breathtaking Burj Khalifa view and delightful birthday surprises, to the outstanding service across all outlets, including the staff in the reception, housekeeping, in-room dining, the Pool, and Hoi An. Their poise, efficiency, and personalized care truly elevated our stay and made us feel completely at home. The hotel surpassed all my expectations and nothing was too much trouble (and believe me we did test them a few times with last minute changes). We stayed during Ramadan and held a private dinner by the pool on one evening, the food was incredible, large buffet in little carts and lots of choices. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for a venue for a large conference.

He loves the Burj Khalifa & I chose this hotel because of the rooms with views of the Burj. The concierge team were so helpful in the run up to us arriving and answered all my queries & set up our room with a wonderful set up of balloons, cake, chocolate dipped strawberries, wine, roses & rose petals. It was perfect & a lovely surprise for my partner. The staff cannot do enough for you & the service throughout the hotel is exceptional. We were impressed from the moment we arrived and were greeted by the doorman who quickly took care of our luggage when we arrived & ensured this arrived in our room. The reception staff were professional and welcoming & this was echoed through the staff at breakfast, the pool area & the lobby. Our room was spacious & comfortable & a nice touch was a gift of birthday balloons, another cake & a card from the hotel on my partner’s actual birthday. It was also lovely that throughout our stay, many of the staff would ask him if he was enjoying his birthday. Breakfast was excellent & we were amazed by the variety and quality of food. The rooftop pool with views again of the Burj was lovely. The service again was excellent with the pool staff setting out the towels on the loungers for us. The food and drinks were good and reasonably priced too. All in all it was faultless & we would definitely stay again & would highly recommend this hotel & their wonderful staff.

- move2dubai (4/5): NYE Gala at Horizon 42 - Horizon 42 NYE Gala Dinner - Resumee: Cheap and frugal! Staff: Extraordinarily kind View: Great Champagner: Laurent ~Perrier and Taittinger in Methuselah or Salmanazar size. Dress code was: Black tie (and there was a guy in old jeans and even older, dirty sneakers standing next to me). Yes, standing! Because this was my first Gala dinner at standing high bistro tables! No white table cloth, paper napkins in a napkin holder, not even cutlery at the tables. I have been to better set tables in fast food restaurants. The food: I am sure, this "buffet" was set up by Ebenezer Scrooge!!! The blinis were the size of a 1 Dhs coin and they counted 5 pearls of caviar on it. When you went for salmon, they gave you one(1!) tiny slize every time on the smallest, oldest, worn out cake plate with a cake fork (yes, no knives) every time. The station was set up next to the pool (Chlorine smell included). Other than that: 3 different pasta casseroles, school cafeteria style and quality. There was Beef Wellington - not sure if this would have passed G. Ramsey's judgement. Cooking of the whitefish: long, much too long! Cheese buffet: Dubai supermarket selection. Desserts: decent, very limited selection. Overall execution of the dinner: careless, loveless, style less without any flair or finesse or anything that gave any tiny hint of flair. By no means worth the money, not even with the view. I got there at 8 o clock and left long before midnight at around 10. Overall: Would I recommend it or go to this hotel again? Definitely no, as this was the most disappointing NYE in my 23 years in Dubai.

- nb916 (10/5): Another great visit and another reason to keep coming back - This is probably our 5th visit now and the staff in Shangri La generally and horizon lounge specifically, as always, continue to excel. Having stayed in a top hotel right before, the management should definitely not underestimate the power of their staff in ensuring repeat visits. A special thanks to: Nikhil, Imaya, Keith, Zora and Janeth at the lounge. We had a busy stay this time and wish we’d had an opportunity to see you all more. Next time! I appreciate the change to the new refillable and full-sized toiletries in the room - but do not like the performance of the brand. I would have preferred Shangri La maintain its partnership with loccitane as previously, which we believe has better quality products. We ordered in-room dining for the first time this trip. The food was delicious and served in a timely manner. We used our SLA circle points which were expiring. it would have been helpful to be advised at the time of the ordering that we would need to download the app for the QR code that was needed, so that we were better prepared. The breakfast experience seemed less chaotic this year. The food selection is good, though focusing on improving the quality of items provided could help elevate this more eg artisanal yoghurts, fresh buttery pastries, and cereal that isn’t stale (serving in open bowls is probably contributing to this). More generally, the narrow food buffet area can be restrictive at times at busy periods. Overall, this was probably our 5th stay at SLA Dubai, and we continue to see the friendly faces we have become accustomed to, such as Khodoram’s generous hospitality, Hanif’s friendly and warm service, and Sarath who has to be my favourite chef from all the hotels we have had the privilege to stay at. Aside from this, I wish I could name every staff member from the security staff who help us with lifts and clearly ensure safety is paramount, the breakfast staff and doormen, to housekeeping who keep the hotel spotlessly clean so that I’ve never once noticed anything in my room that I thought had been missed, etc. The staff at SLA Dubai are truly the best we have encountered. While the hotel does continue to show its age, it is the staff that ensure we continue to come back. Otherwise hotels are aplenty in Dubai. For future guests unsure about whether to stay at SLA, yes it is an older hotel as previous reviews have mentioned, but I can assure you that while in recent years we have split our stays between two hotels in Dubai, it’s only SLA we continue to revisit. We look forward to another visit in the near future, and would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to each and every staff member.

We were fortunate to be there for the tree lighting ceremony, and what an incredible evening it was – beautifully organised, festive, and truly special. The entire hotel had such a warm December atmosphere, and it was clear how much care and effort the management team put into making the experience memorable. A special mention must go to Khodraham, the doorman, who greeted us every single day like family. His warmth, kindness, and genuine care made a huge difference to our stay. In fact, the entire staff were exceptional – nothing was ever too much trouble, and the level of service was consistently outstanding. Our 3-year-old daughter was treated like royalty, which meant the world to us as parents. That level of attentiveness and kindness is rare and truly sets this hotel apart. The rooms were modern, spotless, and impeccably maintained – absolutely nothing to fault. We will return every time we are in Dubai without hesitation. Apparantely our room wasn't ready and we were "pushed" but the person at the front desk to take more expensive room which was ready straight away. We were too tired to wait so we agreed. As i ordered room to be decorated for my husband birthday - we were told that the upgraded room will be ready within 30mins as they have to move the decorations from our originally booked room that apparantely wasn't ready. The upgraded room was great, but we felt being pressured to upgrade it. Then after returning home we noticed that hotel charged us twice the same amount - once on our departure day and again 3 days later. Not great, won't be staying there again.

- jennykvb (10/5): Great deal! - What a fantastic hotel for the price! The rooms are very dated, but the hotel makes up for it in service. I have never felt so much like I was part of a family. Valet made us feel like VIPs, check-in was so efficient and professional, and the lovely servers at breakfast were the perfect way to start our day. We got upgraded to a room with the Burj Khalifa room, making my birthday dreams come true! I can't believe how good the view was - we didn't even have to go to the rooftop for the more iconic view. I like that we could hear the TV from the bathroom due to a speaker. Bed is comfortable. Everything was comfortable, just a little dated - but for this price, it's a bargain for overpriced Dubai.

Items were stolen from the room, apparently they have had issues with house keeping stealing things in past which was inadvertently revealed to us. No help was given. Total deflection. I would stay far away. There were more issues at check in and with dishonest communication, but this was enough to truly advise against staying here.

They even upgraded my room which was the most amazing and pleasant surprise!During happy hours I was welcomed by Keith, Nikhil and Karim , and I had an amazing evening tea and was able to watch the sunset from your lounge sipping on lovely cocktails prepared by Nikhil . Breakfast had a lot of options and the shakshuka was perfectly made with just the perfect flavors. I truly appreciate how all the staff go out of their way to make my stay comfortable and I never found the need to ask for anything. Will definitely visit again!

- KenDB1982 (10/5): Treated like a king at Shangri-La Dubai - I stayed here 4 nights during a business trip and I loved it. The location is very convenient if you need to move around in the city for meetings. The metro is just a short walk. My room was luxurious, clean and with all amenities you need. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast offered a large choice of international food. The pool has great view on the Burj Khalifa and it's a nice green area to relax. I would go back for sure.

Our experience was really extraordinary in the consistency of exceptional service provided and the warmth, friendliness & care shown by the staff. Thank you Janeth, Keith, Imaya, Saw, Zineb, Kopila, Karin, Erika & Nikhil. Chef Uditha provided wonderful food each day & the special chocolate mousse cake on the last day we will long remember. The hotel also provides a shuttle bus to the Dubai Mall & this is a great service. Our driver Hanif was terrific. He was warm, friendly and again offered great service. He particularly made sure people would know the pickup point so wouldn’t have a problem coming back. The doormen as well made coming back an event & I am sorry I do not have the name of the wonderful gentleman whose smile was so wide and his enthusiasm contagious. In all, we have stayed at 4 different hotels in Dubai in recent years and none can compare to the experience we had here. This will be our hotel from here on & I will be enthusiastically recommending it to family and friends. Thank you to everyone who made this trip so memorable.

They refused to honor our $100USD credit to the room, despite it being guaranteed through our travel agency booking. Excuse after excuse afterward, despite never having this issue at other Shangri-La property. I’ve already contacted the head office in Hong Kong, I’m sure they will sort it out since clearly this hotel isn’t able to. My travel agency has also advised they won’t be sending clients to this property any longer. Disgraceful!

Before my arrival, the hotel attempted to get me to prepay for breakfast, despite it already being included in my rate. At check-out, they were unaware of my $100 credit and applied it incorrectly. When questioned about it via email, they provided excuse after excuse with no accountability. This is far from five star service. Don’t stay here.

He greeted me warmly every day, always helped me get a taxi, and even made sure to speak with the drivers so I arrived safely at my destination. His professionalism, kindness, and genuine care made such a difference in my stay. Khodarahm truly represents the spirit of Shangri-La hospitality, and I am so grateful for his help. I highly recommend Shangri-La Dubai not only for its luxury and comfort, but for the outstanding service provided by staff like Khodarahm. I will definitely return on my next visit to Dubai! - justynak328 (4/5): Time for change - We stayed at Shangri La Dubai for a total of 6 nights in September 2025. The hotel itself is quite old. It is in dire need of a proper renovation. The rooms and amenities cannot compete with the other 5 star hotels in Dubai. The front office staff and the doormen (every single one of them) are truly exceptional. They are always welcoming, joyful and willing to help in any way that they can. This is as much service as you can expect from the staff at the Shangri La Dubai. The majority of the staff seem uninspired, uninterested or simply overworked. Word of caution: This establishment is not at par with the other Shangri La hotels.

- TTravel71 (10/5): A grand (slightly older!) lady - Really lovely stay in this hotel. Everyone we met was welcoming, warm, friendly and professional. This included everyone we met - the doormen, check in desk, club lounge, bar and pool staff. For Dubai this is an older hotel and the rooms are a little dated but still very comfortable. The Horizon Lounge was great and the evening drinks were much appreciated given the cost of alcohol in the city. We had breakfast in the lounge on two mornings and also tried the main buffet one morning. All were good but we preferred the quieter experience in the lounge. One criticism is smoking is allowed in the bar - I know this is allowed in the UAE but for me it made the bar really unpleasant.
- Mary (10/5): - From the moment we arrived in Shangri-La Dubai it was such a friendly welcoming atmosphere. Our one bedroom suite gave us spectacular sunset views but was quiet and very comfortable. The beds were wonderfully soft and after a day of sightseeing / shopping it was the most relaxing place to come back to. I would definitely recommend booking the Horizon Lounge package as it was absolutely worth it - the entire Horizon Club team went above and beyond to make our stay special and a big extra thank you should out goes to Erika, Janeth and Kloderam!!! Pools were great, the access to the indoor pool was amazing - we went at night and the lights made it more serene. Hotel choice of food was amazing and every meal felt like a treat. We took advantage of the shuttle bus to Dubai Mall which was great in the heat although taxis do arrive within minutes and you are central to all places. For unbeatable views, comfort, great dining and genuinely warm service in th heart of Dubai - Shangri-La delivers!! Thank you am sure we will be visiting again

- Adam (6/5): - I wanted to change my travel plans due to circumstances beyond my control and asked the hotel if they would consider allowing me to check out a day early with a refund for the last night. I understand the booking was non-refundable, but I also know that many hotels use their discretion in these situations and are willing to be flexible. Unfortunately, that was not the case here. I spoke to several staff members, but none were willing to accommodate or even show much understanding. The response felt rigid and unhelpful, which was disappointing. In addition, the beds were extremely stiff and uncomfortable, which made it hard to get a good night’s sleep and negatively impacted my stay overall. While I understand policies are in place for a reason, a little empathy and flexibility would have gone a long way. Ultimately I stayed that one last night.
