Rui Miguel (4/5): 3* at best - One of the worst Mercure I’ve stayed at. Rooms are small and extremely cold. The heating is not enough to keep the room warm. The appliances are cheap and nasty. In need of urgent refurbishing. Breakfast is basic. Not worth the price.

Jeremy (8/5): Mercure Paris Gare De l'est - The room was clean and a good size for Paris with a really good shower. The breakfast was all you expect and love in Paris. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Location is ok if you want to be near the stations otherwise not the best.
Kurt (4/5): - Day & night front desk staff were nice and helpful. Area was convenient, room was small but sufficient. Housekeeping was sloppy, 2nd day removed our 2 bath towels n bath mat but replaced w only 1 towel & no bath mat. Reported to front desk but returned later w no change. Toilet seat only had 1 bolt so it slid, housekeeping should report that and the loose toilet paper holder to be fixed. Housekeeping was also in a rush & left 3 pillow cases piled up in our room. They also did a sloppy job making the bed where they didn’t tuck the bottom sheet at the foot of the bed. Lastly, the lift broke 5 times during our 7 night stay. The last breakdown they said would take days to replace a part.

Rooms are pretty tiny and it's not as nice as other Mercures I've stayed at, but no major complaints. Only thing they could definitely improve on is eco-friendliness. They do have soap dispensers in the shower rather than tiny shampoo bottles, which is a great first step! But I'd like to see those soap dispensers be refillable ones rather than single use. And they still have loads of single-use everything else: disposable cups, small bar soaps individually packaged in boxes, coffee/tea/sugar in plastic sachets. They still have a long way to go...

Reception was a major problem for my group.I had numerous complaints over the long delay for room allocation despite spending an hour prior to the group’s arrival loading info onto computer.Overal I wasted 2.5 hours

Verified traveler (4/5): First case of a DOWNGRADE in history - I got a DOWNGRADE when i arrived at this hotel! I had booked a double room, but the girl at the front desk said she was gonna put me in a single room because she needed the double for couples. So basicly i paid for a double and, because i was traveling alone, got put in a single room. No refund or any compensation given to me. The room was tiny, to the point where you have to walk sideways to go around the bed. Wc was even smaller. Location was ok, but i would never stay here again, or in any Mercure hotel for that matter...
C. (10/5): - Best I can hope for! Roomy room with a small table, bench and cushioned chair. Lighting made me feel comfortable and like I was at home. Shower had a rainfall option and they offered Nuxe bath products. Celine at reception was so nice and personable. Location close to Gare du Nord and Gare du L'est for easy train access. Hood wasn't bad in food options either although it was more local with markets, butchers and fish.

All staff were welcoming and very lovely. The breakfast area was also very nice and cosy. Good assortment for breakfast. I highly recommend this hotel.
Verified traveler (4/5): - Outside the Hotel before entering there is a horrible smell of Urine, and homeless people are sleeping outside. We where given a wrong room with 2 single beds put together to make a double bed, once my husband informed them we where moved the another room they called Executive room. The executive room was spacious however the sofa was damaged/broken and it was obvious it was late but my husband reported it in the morning and he was informed it is still OK to be used. overall I would not recommend the area of the hotel and the rooms where not up to a great standard, however the staff we really good.

Mindy (8/5): Good Base, a little tired - Lobby and room comfortable. Reception staff very welcoming and helpful. Corridors quite tired looking. Shower in our room didn't drain quick enough and even with the quickest of showers the water would leak over the shower tray; the staff did try to sort this out for us with drain unblocker (!!!), but sadly this didn't work. The hotel is just off a main road and was perfect for us with not being far from the train station. The breakfast room looked very newly furbished and all the food looked fresh and tasty. We think we saw the pastries being cooked on site. The lady on our second morning could've been a little less brash. And (lots of places seem to do this for some reason!!) cleaning cutlery very loudly, throwing it down. This was after she quite brusquely talked to us. Not necessarily a deal breaker, but thought to mention it.

Verified traveler (10/5): - A nice little hotel near Gare de l'est. The room was adequately furnished. Amenities were not much but enough for a few nights stay. There are abundant electricity sockets, which I appreciate, since I have quite a few electronic appliances. There are also lots of TV channels to choose from, which I enjoyed very much! One thing i find quite odd is that the power socket for the hairdryer is not located in the bathroom, but in the room. Under most circumstances people would want to use the hairdryer inside the bathroom, because of the noise, want the bedroom stay dry, etc. The room I got was quite close to the lift's shaft, literally just beside it, it could get quite noisy at night. I have also noticed that some rooms in the lower floors look out onto the rubbish bins in the alley beside the hotel, which is not very nice. I would like to thank Mr. Romain for assisting my check in at the reception, he and his team were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was also a pleasing experience, and the lady who manages the breakfast salon was friendly and cheerful, above all, the hot items were tasty! She cooked extra sausages for me because I told her I really enjoyed it! I booked this room out of convenience, however, because of the exceptional amiability of the staff here, I wold definitely come back to stay when I am back in Paris.

Verified traveler (8/5): Comfortable hotel - This is a good hotel overall, half way between the Gare du Nord and the Gare de l'Est and easy to get to both stations on foot. Ideal for arriving from London and going on to Strasbourg the next day. The hotel is clean and comfortable and the staff are also good. The breakfast was a bit below par for what I would expect of a hotel of this standard and at night you do hear the sirens of passing police cars, but I still got a good night's sleep and also caught up a bit the next day on the TGV.
Verified traveler (8/5): New Years Eve 2018/19 - We traveled to Paris for a New Years break. The hotel is easy to find from either Gare du Nord or the Gare de l’Est being about a five minute walk from either. The location itself feels a little unsafe being close to an international station, but the hotel felt safe with entry controlled by the receptionists. All the people we spoke to were very friendly. We arrived early for check in but were still able to access our room. And when we left we could leave our luggage safely until we left for the airport. The room was a good size with a comfy bed. The shower was hot and powerful. Towels are a bit small but could be changed every day if needed. Just remember you need to drop your key in the slot just inside the room door if you want the lights on! We didn’t eat or drink here but there are lots of restaurants and cafes in the area and the receptionist pointed us in the direction of Monop’ supermarket for snacks and drinks. She was also very helpful when asking for the best public transport links around the city All public areas of the hotel were clean too.

Linda (8/5): Comfortable stay close to two train stations - The hotel is within walking distance of the Gare du Nord as well as Gare de l'Est train stations. Besides Sacre Coeur that is relatively close, there are not many other Paris tourist attractions in the area. The best way is to use the metro to get to the other Paris highlights. I would not describe the area as the best to stay in but for the price, the close proximity to train stations and the hotel being very comfortable, you will probably not find much better. The front desk personnel were very friendly and helpful. The room and bathroom are quite small but it is perfect for a night or two. The highlight of the room was the large showerhead!

Verified traveler (10/5): Very good budget hotel - I would happily recommend - Booked 5 rooms for myself and friends on a short trip to Paris. The hotel is close to Gare du Nord and the Eurostar, the area seemed safe and the room, whilst compact, had everything that you would want - double bed, good plasma tv, fridge, safe, a small bathroom with an excellent shower.
B (4/5): Not worth it - The air conditioner didn't work in our room. I decided I'd ask you he front desk about it on the way back from dinner since we were running behind. When we returned, I asked the front desk staff if there was a trick to the AC unit because I couldn't get ours to work. He checked the computer and said, yeah it doesn't work in your room. (Thanks super helpful) So then I asked if there was another room available that we could move to where the air worked. He said yes. I then had to ask if we could move to it, he said "Now?" And I said yes. He just laughed at me and said I'd have to wait till tomorrow morning. Overall, our room was cramped, dirty, and dark. Definitely not worth the money.

Room was fairly spacious, clean and comfortable – I was there for 3 weeks. It was my first time there. Staff and front desk personnel were professional, friendly and efficient.

Tonya (8/5): Close to the Train Station - I was very pleased with this hotel. It was about a 5 minute walk from the Gare de l'Est and about a 10 minute walk to the Gare du Nord. It made traveling around Paris very convenient. The room was a good size, larger than many European hotels I have stayed in. It was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and spoke good English. The reception desk was staffed 24 hours a day so there was always someone there to buzz me in when I returned late at night. The breakfast was moderate but adequate. The hotel is next to a main boulevard, so there is noise from sirens when emergency vehicles pass by. It didn't bother me but it might bother some people. Overall it was a great place to stay and if I am able I will definitely stay there again next time I go to Paris.

Location was not in the best of streets(so-so) AC was not working, thankfully the wheather was cool at night and could open the window. Staff was really nice. Great if you rent a car and need a short parking distance. 24hr underground parking garage located behind the building. Within walking distance to Gare nord east. Hotel was not bad but you can get a nicer accommodation for the same price or just a liitle more. This is recomended for anyone specifically looking for a stay near Gare Nord East or inneed of really closeby parking
Garry & Faye (8/5): Convenience in Paris - We stayed here for 3 nights at the start of our holiday and 3 nights at the end of our holiday. Although the room was compact, it was comfortable and the bathroom was great with nice hot showers. The location was so convenient as it was a short walk across to Gare de L'est to catch the Metro each day and a slightly longer walk to Gare de Nord to catch the Eurostar and also the train to Charles de Gaulle airport. No taxi's required. The reception staff were lovely and helpful, there was no shortage of places to eat or supermarkets nearby, banks, chemists, anything you needed. If you like to walk it was 20 minutes to Sacre Cour, 15 minutes to the Hard Rock Cafe etc.

Verified traveler (8/5): Good location - Small room but had everything we needed, nice shower, hairdryer, tea making facilities, double bed. 1 English Channel on TV. Close to Gare de l'Est and Gare du Nord for metros/ trains. Able to store bags before check in and when checked out so that we didn't have to carry them around with us as flight not until 9pm. Very noisy outside and roadworks going on during our stay waking us up early but no issues with the hotel.
Stella (8/5): Very convenient and affordable, but small rooms - The hotel is only 7-10 mins away from the Gare du Nord station (if you are taking Euro Star) and only 5 mins away from the Gare de l'Est, which is the nearest Metro station, and has 3 lines available. There are a lot of cafe, restaurants and pharmacies around. There is also a small local supermarket on the way to Gare de l'Est, so you can get some souvenirs or food for breakfast to avoid the expensive ones in the hotel. I don't find the location to be very dangerous, as it is near a main road. But you still need to be cautious as it seems to be some people hanging around at night. There is a post office just behind the hotel, very convenient if you want to send some postcards to friends and family. Despite the good location, I do find the rooms are smaller than expected. The hallways and rooms are badly lit, with only blue LED in the hallways, VERY DARK! Overall, the room seems clean, but when I looked at the details (e.g. corners) are quite dirty. But as long as the bed, bath tub and toilet is clean, it's fine for me. Facilities are standard for a "budget" hotel, small bar and reception. Staff are helpful and friendly. Although they speak English, some are not fluent, so they might not understand something complicated in English. Overall, I am happy with what this hotel offered at this price. I will consider staying here again if I visit Paris, just because of the location.

We found her extremely helpful, friendly and kind. The hotel location was good for us. Found the lighting in the halfway's a bit dark and hard to see, besides that no issues.

Explorer (8/5): Great location, large room with air con. - Enjoyed our stay at hotel conveniently located within 5 minute walk from Gare de l'Est, metro stop, restaurants and bus terminus (bus 30 to Trocadero/Eiffel Tower and bus 31 to Arc de Triomphe). Expected nicer décor from Mecure, but room was large with air con. Bathroom was small with no counterspace and no business centre. Flat screen TV was hung too high on wall.
Ruby (6/5): Small Hotel - The location is very convenient. However, the room, bathroom, and especially the elevator is too small even for a skinny person like me. . A little pricey. No amenities provided by the hotel.

Verified traveler (8/5): Well placed hotel - The front desk staff were excellent and friendly. Other positive points, the rooms are a bit bigger then average in Paris, clean and offer hot drinks. The hotel is a short walk from the Gare du Nord and Gare de l'Est and as I had trains to take from both these stations, the hotel is well placed. There is also a fresh food market about 100 yards up on the main road, which offer a wider range of fruits, vegetables, cheeses and wines then you will get in a supermarket. There are two downsides to the hotel. First the corridors are very badly lit by a dim blue light, that makes reading door numbers, or finding the lift in the gloom not easy. Secondly, being Paris, if you have a room facing the street, you get a lot of noise from sirens of the police and ambulance (there is a hospital not far away) and revellers enjoying the night life. Overall, the hotel is very good. I would skip the breakfast which I thought expensive and have it instead in one of the nearby cafes, or bistros.

keith (6/5): An average hotel at best - The hotel is fine if you just want a basic place to stay near the gare du nord? We had room 505 on the ground floor and it was just about big enough to fit 2 single beds in.
Sergio (6/5): Money Value - The location is close to the metro station, not the best zone but moving around it's really easy. Rooms are spacious and in good shape, I definitely come back.

Juan (4/5): Hotel near to Eurostar Train Station - Hotel room very small for 2. Not enough room to place your suitcases and clothes. During our 4 days stay Internet only worked 1 day. On the last day after returning to the room part of our carpet was soak. When we reported it staff did not offer us another room only told us that somebody was going to bring us some towels but because the amount of water was so much the towels got soak straight away. The next day when we left the hotel we mentioned the issue to the receptionist who said that nothing was reported from the night before. No hairdryer in the room as was advertised.
Verified traveler (10/5): Nice little gem in the city with excellent staff! - Perfect jumping off place for Gare du Nord or l'Est. Everything in Paris is just a Metro ride away. Being just a few steps from Blvd. Magenta shields the noise but keeps the convenience.

Anne (8/5): Location good for access to Gare du Nord - Hotel room well appointed (really appreciated electric kettle and tea making facilities in my room) but no space to sit and work on my laptop; location chosen for access to Gare du Nord to get to the airport, it's in easy walking distance even trundling suitcases; but the area is noisy even with the windows shut, and the soundproofing inside the hotel between rooms was not adequate.

Les (10/5): Convenient location and very comfortable - The Hotel Mercure Magenta is an excellent choice for tourists who want to see Paris and all it has to offer. It is very convenient for Gare de l'Est, Gare du Nord (Eurostar) and the Metro. Hence, it is easy to get there and easy to travel to all the sights in the City. The Hotel itself is comfortable and reasonably quiet as just off the main road. Bedroom size though not large is sufficient for the purpose, clean, comfortable and well equipped. It is also well positioned to get to all the bistros, shops and restaurants in the area which are reasonably priced for tourists. The only downside was the price of the breakfast, hence did not partake though I suspect it would have been good. Staff were very friendly and spoke excellent English.
Anirban (8/5): Good for a short stay.. - Quite a nice little hotel. I heave come to the general conclusion that hotels in France generally have small rooms (At least on a normal budget). This one was no exception. Otherwise quite a nice little place. Staff really friendly and helpful. The room was quite clean and functional. Very close to Gare Du Nord and lots of small eateries nearby, which made it a very convenient place. Would definitely recommend it..

Room clean and well presented although a DVD player would be a nice addition. However, surrounding area not the nicest.

Verified traveler (8/5): good hotel, good location - Hi - this is a good, basic hotel, in a central Parisian location, very very close to Gare du Nord and Gare du l'Est. I'd recommend it for short trips, business stays, but it's not a luxury relaxation destination.
P & D Marles (10/5): Perfect location if you are traveling by train - The receptionist was delightful, the breakfast included organic food, the room was perfectly comfortable, location perfect, and the price exceptional.

Jen (8/5): Really pleasant hotel in great location - The staff were welcoming, friendly and efficient. The room wasn't huge, but we didn't expect that. Tea & coffee facilities plus hairdryer were appreciated, and the breakfast was lovely. Although noise from e.g. emergency vehicles was very occasionally quite loud with the window open, it wasn't bad with either the window shut or with earplugs. The hotel itself is set into a side street, so shielded from the main road which is nonetheless convenient for mainline stations.

OPT (6/5): ACCEPTABLE SERVICE & PRICE HOTEL - Overall quiet happy staying in Mercure Paris Gare De I'Est Magenta. Room are reasonable size but toilet is too small and corridor is too narrow to move the lugguge.

Jessica (10/5): Mercure - less than 5 min walk from Gare de l'est - Short walk from Gare de l'est!! The room is a bit snug but you are in Paris, you aren't there for the room! The staff is very friendly! And it is very clean! Great for budget travelers! Many cafes are nearby for a quick croissant before heading out for the day!
Emma (6/5): Central location - The hotel was centrally located and convenient for two major RER/Metro stations, restaurants and a short journey from most major tourist attractions. The room is very like the images on this site. My self and my partner will have the occasional cigarette so were probably not as fussy as some non smokers but I have marked the hotel down as our non smoking room reaked of stale smoke. To be honest it was completely over powering and unpleasant and even our new suitcases have an unpleasant odar after a short stay.
Janet (8/5): Convenient and comfortable - This is the third time I have stayed at this hotel. I've always been very happy with my stay. It is very conveniently situated. Clean. Staff helpful. No problems if you need more provisons (ie tea bags etc) in your room. Breakfast very good.

Wong (8/5): Pleasantly surprise with the hotel - This is our first trip to Paris and we are delighted with the friendly reception service, high level of comfort and proximity to the metro. While it is tucked into a side lane, it is pleasantly quiet and private, but yet visible from the main road. We had a wonderful and memorable stay in Paris. One regret is that it lack an internet kiosk for guest.
Marton (8/5): Nice, clean hotel, bad environment - Gare du Nord and Gare de l'Est is a rather bad quarter (especially Bd. de Magenta with its gangs) in the evening, so go by taxi and don't walk too much on the street after dark. Apart from that, the hotel is super, clean, and has free wifi.
C.V. (8/5): Mecure de LÉst Magenta- good central location - A good 3 star hotel- central location close to two mainline/ metro stations. Plenty of handy eating places/ supermarkets etc. Breakfast excellent- good start to the day. Reception staff helpful and pleasant. Only complaint- we needed to do some laundry (as many travellers do?) and the cost through the hotel system would have come to over 150 Euros for one machine full!! Google laundromat!!

Verified traveler (10/5): "I'm a creature of habit" - This hotel was formally known as the "Flora" and was my Paris 'home' whilst on business trips since the late 60's. Now I take my lovely wife, who is a Francophile and we stay just minutes away from the Eurostar terminal. It is now part of the Accor chain but when booked through Hotels.com it is less expensive and breakfast is included. It has had the usual makeover and provides all one needs for comfort and location, especially location. OK it is not in a upper class area but being up a little alleyway there is no more noise than you would expect being in the wonderful city of Paris. We can't wait to get back there again. Hotels.com please keep this hotel as one of your choices and as we are a retired couple maintain the reduced rate.
Ian (6/5): No free wifi despite official website saying complimentary - Sadly despite their own official website saying "complimentary wifi", this is NOT the case at time of stay (Aug10). The staff on duty said they were going to implement this in future. But I chose the hotel on this basis as wifi was needed to check into flights and is an essential these days. Very disappointed with that indeed. Breakfast spread was the average continental with eggs available for boiling. Location wise is good for connections for the price. Area is rather delapidated. And we arrived late, it was hard to find at night and we walked past it even. Rooms were small and the corridor narrow but comfortable. It is fair value for money for the location.
Amanda (6/5): Not Impressed - Hotel itself was nice, however location not a great location especially if you are a female traveling on your own.
Genie (6/5): Too small. too noisy - Although the Mercure Paris Gare de l'Est Magenta is very convenient for the Gare du Nord it is not very central for other well known city sites, the hotel is very small and our room was the smallest we have ever stayed in you had to climb across the beds to get to the other side of the room although it was very clean apart from the carpet which badly needed replacing. Also it was incredibly noisy as it was virtually on a main road and all we could hear all night were police sirens. We paid for a breakfast - don't! go out and eat you will get better value. We were surprised how very, very expensive Paris had become we paid 9.80fr for 2 cups of coffee and an average meal with wine was 70fr. Also be careful going on the open top buses 50fr for 2 days although most people only do the tour for 1 day. We found Paris this visit incredibly expensive and rather dirty bearing in mind we are Londoners and are used to city grime.
