Reception was friendly and fast, but I was not allowed to eat a croissant in the lobby because it was not purchased at the hotel. Hotel manager literally told me to take my croissant to the outside of the hotel and eat it there even though I purchased drinks in the hotel. I travel a lot and this seems insane.

- Louise (10/5): Excellent hotel for families - We really enjoyed our stay here. Our room was almost like 2 rooms with a corridor between. It was large and spacious. The hotel staff were very helpful. The pool was small and very busy with families when we tried to use it. The location is brilliant and it was only a 15min walk into the old town. We enjoyed our stay here.

- Michaela-Kate (8/5): Good - The check-in process was quick and the receptionist friendly and personable. The room was play apart from the fact that the toilet is in a separate room from the bathroom with no hand washing facilities. Not having a sink when using the toilet is a bit gross in my opinion. We stayed for 2 nights and I found that bit weird. The room itself was clean and comfortable. We had booked a family room so had a bath and a shower. The breakfast was good. We also had dinner there once and the food was very nice. Their Thai curry tasted really authentic and delicious. There’s a little play area for young children opposite the check in desk which is a nice touch for younger children. The pool was cold but once you get over the initial shock you enjoy the swim regardless. My son liked the pool. In terms of service, I felt you couldn’t fault the staff at all. Everyone was friendly and polite and spoke English as well as German. The area around the hotel is a little odd in places, not helped by the rain making everything look a little sad. It’s a close walk to the S-Bahn and Deutsches Museum. We travelled by train to reach the hotel but the parking garage was located under the hotel and there is a petrol station a few doors down which I’m sure is handy for people who use their car.

- ALEXANDRA (4/5): - We stayed for 4 days. The room was fine but an old water bottle and sock from the previous room occupant was in our room on arrival. During our stay an item of property was stolen, and the team took a long time to respond to the issue. 4 weeks later and it is still ongoing. We felt the staff lacked the skills to truely make our stay one with a better review. Having property stolen is a big issue for us and we feel it was not handled well. We won’t be staying at a Novotel any longer in the future.

- Brady (6/5): - The employee at check in did not know where our room was and sent us with all of our luggage to a completely different wing of the hotel up an elevator 3 floors. When we went to tell him there was no room number that matched what he gave us he callously said oh my mistake you need to go to the other building. No apology and was arrogant about it. There is a very nice restaurant with a breakfast option for $28/per person. We did not opt for this. However, in the main lobby is an espresso/coffee machine with no signage. We assumed it was complimentary coffee for guests but were then told it was not. This is fine, but there should be a sign so people are aware.

The service was excellent and the breakfast was above and beyond. My family loved the huge and clean pool. I can’t get over how huge the room was too! The executive queen room Fit my family of four perfectly. I can’t wait to return!

- Verified traveler (8/5): stay could have been better - The location is very convenient. I like the hotel on the first floor. The front desk staff when we checked was friendly, but on the next night, he was rude, answered my question of where I can get water around 0100 and his finger to direct me where and told me to read the instruction without even getting his eyes off the computer screen. Rude! It's a good thing the man that was replenishing the vending machine was nice and helped, since the instruction was in German. The elevator is slow and will not stop on our floor (4th) on the way down, for some reason it skips it. We have to take the stairs down, I reported it but the next time I used it, it still was not fixed and I have to take the stairs again. I know it's probably good but after running the Berlin Marathon, that was not the forced exercise I was looking for. The room was humid, we tried to open the windows but only 1 can be opened but partially. The toilet is in another separate room apart form the sink and shower/bathtub. So there's nowhere to wash your hands after using the toilet/commode, not even a hand sanitizer, you have to go to the shower room to wash your hands, very odd and not practical set-up

- Peter (2/5): - Unwelcome, unclean & gouged would be my overwhelming feeling of this stay. The problem started at check in, as I turned to go to our room, “ohh just so you know the pool is closed until Monday”. We stay until Tuesday and I selected a hotel filtered to pool, my only filter. The pool did not open on Monday! We got to our room, tired, lay on the bed. What is that noise? There was a noise like a jet engine from the bathroom and a clicking sound we thought was a drip. Called reception to move room. “Leave it with me, busy for checkin”. So do we unpack or not? We didn’t, lay on the bed and it took 40 minutes for a call. “Can’t move you”. Fortunately, by this stage the noise dripping noise had stopped but we were worried it would return, it did! The bathroom noise continued for the duration of our stay, but if you like white noise it was fine. While I had him on the phone querying a room change I questioned the sign: “enjoy your complimentary water”. We had no complimentary water. So he agreed to organise some. 1 bottle between 2 people. It was the only bottle we saw for a 5 night stay. After 4 nights, the sofa was changed into a sofa bed. All our stuff moved, the space in the room cut in half. When I asked why this happed I was told they meant to do this for room 218, not 18, our room. It was an asthmatics nightmare as I woke every morning to a layer of dust on my phone. The Holiday Inn next door looks by far the greater option for a four star hotel, it is right next door!

- Marie (6/5): - I liked the location , it was perfectly placed for where I needed to be that weekend. It was easy to walk to town. The concierge was super nice and professional. The hotel restaurant is mid, do not recommend. The only thing I did not like was that the hotel cleaning staff kept walking into my room! We were able to check in early and they walked in THREE TIMES asking if I needed towels. Then the next day the same thing happened because we weren’t out of our room by 10am when they wanted to tidy up (I had the sign up to not disturb and to be clear, it was not CHECK out day. The next morning it happened again when staff let themselves into our room to grab our tray from previous nights meal, while we were getting ready for the day. I liked everything else just fine, but I would not stay here again just because they felt entitled to walk in however they like. I know they are just trying to do a job, but I do not feel comfortable or safe staying here again.
