- floryt466 (8/5): The Lake View makes it or breaks it! - Business trip, arrived late at night, and woke up with the best view: ah, the lake! I've been given a very nicely compartmented room with a view of the lake (ask for room 308 when booking😊) , with all amenities that one would need: mini-bar, coffee making facilities, complimentary water, slippers, bathrobe etc. The hotel offers a complimentary taxi ride from the airport. They get in touch with you ahead of time and all is smoothly taken care of, for you. Breakfast is limited for western/European taste, but the food offering is decent, with fruits that are really fresh and tasty. Are you the yogurt type? Go get your own, as you won't find one there. Yes eggs! On the flip side, the hotel facade features the hustle of Hanoi traffic and constant sounds-from-everywhere. I'd have not enjoyed my stay had it not been for the lake view. It does make it or break it.

- Re (10/5): - Good value for money. Rooms are clean bit a bit small. Design is nor chic, however rooms are in good condition. Everything is working. Only bathroom is old style and a bit worn. Breakfast is good for a 3*. Lots of eateries near by. Supermarket near by.

- Verified traveler (8/5): 価格が手ごろで綺麗なホテル - ホテルの外見は古びた感じがするが、部屋はリニューアルされており、清潔感があると思う。ベッドも広く、シーツも綺麗。wifiもストレスなくよく繋がる。ビジネスで泊まる分には、これで申し分ないのではないかと思う。至近にはローカルのスーパーがあるし、和食屋の立ち並ぶKim ma通りも一応徒歩圏内である。ベトナムローカル色があるホテルであることは事実なので、初心者にはオススメしにくいが、何度か訪問した経験があるならば、ストレスを感じることは少ないと思う。

- Verified traveler (6/5): - Nice and decent hotel seems mainly famous for Japanese. Bit old bathroom, stained ceil and wall shows their cleaning level and how old the hotel. Breakfast was mid-level, Not bad but not impressive either.
- CGL_17 (6/5): Hotel with lake view - Hotel is one of the early establishments in the city of Hanoi when there were very few 'big' hotels around. It has withstood its time but is now 'dwarfed' by many new and more modern hotels around the city. Signs of this ageing property was most visible in the room. It probably has been quite some time since the owners refurbished their property. The room did not smell fresh and although I was told it was a non-smoking room, the smell of cigarettes was in the air. A nice inclusion was the balcony which opens up to a view of the lake. A coffee table and chairs were provided so you could sit out on the balcony with your coffee/tea and enjoy the lake view. Breakfast served in the hotel was average. They offer a limited spread of continental and local selections. For the price of rooms here, you could find nicer hotels in the city.

- nyanlinnhtun (10/5): Reasonable price in city center - It cost 80$ for double room which is spacious and clean with great view. We can walk around the lake near hotel at the morning. The breakfast is delicious and we can enjoy Pho(Vietnamese noodle). We can have the dinner (Japanese restaurant)at this hotel. It is only5 min walk to Lotte center (mart, department store and observation deck). It is near to Ho Chi Minh Monsoleum.

- KEN (10/5): 値段の割には高級感あり満足できるホテル - ネット経由で予約したのですが、上層階で明るい部屋でした。池側でなかったので、朝夜は騒音がきになりましたが、宿泊代からすれば室内もそれなり清潔で高級感があり満足いくものでした。NHKプレミアムだけですが、日本語放送あり、ロビーで日経新聞も読めてビジネスには便利です。 旅行でいくなら、池側の部屋の方が望ましかと思います。
- sejabin (8/5): Valuable hotel for tourists - This is my 2nd time in Hanoi and the 1st time with Lake Side Hotel. Other person has booked for me because I am going for business trip, I have not booked by myself. The location is quite far the Old quarter but everything is okay, you could book Grab or Uber or Taxi to there with around 20 mins & 60,000 vnd. Nightlife here is well too with many beer house with food. From here you can walk 30mins to Ba Đình square and visit some tourist sightseeings. However the breakfast is not good as well, just enough and so so, if you have something to eat, You might not taste here. Overview, room is quite spacious, facilities are good, services are good too. Location is near Ngọc Khanh lake and little bit farm from OLD city center.

- Kristiina (4/5): Avoid this hotel. Has bed bugs, took no action. - So indeed not a good experience of hotels in Vietnam. After a couple of nights realised the bites in arms, legs, neck were caused by bed bugs. Reported the matter at the reception. Saw staff take any cursory measures (superficial cleaning) so continued to suffer from bed bugs. The cleanliness of the room looked ok on a cursory glance - however e.g. the bathroom floor tiles showed no evidence of proper scrubbing for a long time (were black in between the tiles when in fact the original colour had been white). English skills of even reception staff were rudimentary. Not worth the money.

- proscola (4/5): Avoid: mold smell - When you enter the hall you don't realize how horrible the room will be because they're totally different worlds! I stayed for 3 nights in the 5th floor, it was a package tour so I didn't choose it myself. The walls of the corridor are dirty, it's dark and smelly, also it's allowed to smoke anywhere which worses the situation. When you enter the room the first feeling is the smell of mold, carpet is dirty, everything is very old. Remocon had a little small bug! I wiped it before using (there is cable tv), but started feeling gross to stay in that place. Lots of Japanese when I went there. Breakfast was good, but almost nothing of western options, pho was very good. The lake view was nice from the room! Staff were very kind, no complains, they helped me to arrange Halong Bay tour (English a little bit poor but managable), but don't try to send an email because they will not answer you... Location was so so, 20min to the Old Quarter (around 100.000 dong OW by taxi and I just took the white and green ones because they're more trustful); there is a supermarket near the hotel which was great! But, sorry, the horrendous room is not worth at all.

- KruChris67 (6/5): Too expensive - Got there by accident. Someone who wasn't a motorcycle taxi posed and then didn't know any hotels down that street. He saw this one and the bell captain rushed out and grabbed my bags... The rest is history. The Business Center was a good touch and staff really helpful there. (Had to make an online booking, which failed and then pay at reception, getting the same rate, 1,287,000 d). Had a similar hotel without brealkfast in Hai Phong for 500,000 d. Breakfast was mediocre for my Western & Vegetarian taste. But that's a typically Vietnamese problem. Like expensive cheese => only a few processed cheese triangles were there... And no orange juice. ... Found a place near the university and MY DINH which is charging 220,000 with movies etc., that's why I'm so critical of the value aspect.

- marzy000 (4/5): Not again, if I can avoid it! - I stayed in this hotel for work because of its proximity to the convention centre (walking distance). The room was big, but not overly clean... It grossed me out a bit. Weird stains on the sheets, the "lake side" view is through scratchy glass and is of a gross drab looking lake. The breakfast was very ordinary for the most part, but the pho was yummy! The wifi didn't work very well at all. The bed was a bit lumpy. Couldn't wait to leave.

- 505carmenw (6/5): Ok, but not great. - Stayed here one week for business. Ok with the rooms but breakfast was a hit and miss. Some days great and some days just ok. Japanese restaurant was ok but little overpriced. They did give you a discount coupon when you checked in. Laundry service was excellent and fast. Close to a supermarket. Lot of smokers in lobby.

- Linhlinh2014 (8/5): good to stay - - Location: In diplomatic area - Near there: Supermarket Hi-way, Lotte supermarket and department store, Daewoo Hotel, Giang Vo Exhibition, 2-4 km from universities such as Vietnam National Unniversity, 6km from Kangnam Building, 6km to Old Quarter. - Room: Clean, but remember when using kettle to make hot water, be careful because I am so clumsy that I drop hot water on surface of a table in the room and its surface became swelled
- Robert (10/5): Friendly and very helpful staff - I have lived around the area (near the western suburb of Cau Giay) for a few years , so I know this area. It's determinedly authentic but changes are happening. The amenity of the area has a mix of old & authentic (across the road are great pavement restaurants for locals) and the new (the gigantic Lotte complex which will open this month , RMIT University, and a growing number of clothing boutiques if you thread your way up the street opposite the hotel ). And lake Ngoc Canh had plenty of coffee bars for outside . contemplation. But this is not yet the same amenity as one will find in the Old Quarter. That said, the staff were kind and attentive, the hotel itself was quiet. It possesses qualities that the sentimental Marxist would relish !
- Robert (6/5): Quiet location but the hotel has seen better days - The staff do their best and the view of the lake (Giang Vo) is very relaxing. As other reviews say, the hotel caters mainly to businessmen and is clearly set up for that, taxis very handy etc. Rooms are large and reasonably comfortable, but the hotel is clearly in need of renovation. If you are a non smoker, be sure to specify this, the other rooms smell strongly of smoke. The map is misleading, it is not beside Ngoc Khanh but is certainly within walking distance of it. An attractive area for eating, coffee by lake. Location is quite a way from the standard tourist areas of Hanoi and the attractions.
- agha2014 (4/5): WONT GO THERE AGAIN - location old quarter is the hub off the city. it is like 5 minutes cab ride away from there. would not prefer to stay there. if u want to do to ha long bay tour. u have to make it to opera house by yourself as all the tour groups only pick u up from old quarter. expensive paid 65 aussie dollars for a normal bedroom. not included breakfast. rooms big rooms with a nice view but the room smells weird. need a big clean up like a carpet smell.
- Ann (6/5): Convenient hotel for my needs - A typical Asian business man's hotel. Definitely not for the average tourist visiting Hanoi as it's some distance to the city centre. This was the second time I've stayed here by choice to be close to my friends house. Room was comfortable enough. Breakfast was mediocre, lacking yoghurt and there were few vegetarian hot box choices. Nice lake view from room with small balcony. Pleasant and friendly doorman and reception staff.

- Kevin301 (6/5): Classy hotel in its heyday - Spent 4 nights there on a business trip. Found the room decent and clean, but air conditioner was noisy and not very cold. Could tell that the place was quite old. Shocked to find a big hole in the wall behind the bedside table, exposing all the loose wiring. Shows the shoddy build quality. Surprised to find luxury sanitaryware (V&B no less), a sign that this hotel must have been a pretty classy place when it was new. Times have certainly changed. Would stay again if the price was attractive.
- stillbreathin (6/5): A comfortable hotel convenient for where we wanted to be. - This is an large, older hotel, the room reflected this with stained carpet and old fashioned wall paper! Otherwise it was comfortable and clean and was close by to our friends house. It is not close to the Hoan Kiem area but taxis are plentiful and are all metered; small taxis are cheaper than bigger ones! Other than eggs, breakfast didn't have much to offer in the hot food range for us as western vegetarians but there was plenty of fruit, yoghurt and toast. Check-in and out was speedy and the hotel has free WiFi and a large convenient foyer. An ideal businessmans hotel and within walking distance of the Lang Ha - Giang Vo Convention Centre. Pity the hotel doesn't have access to the lake, as it is quite a walk around the roads to get to it in order to walk around it!
- blueskies15-10 (8/5): Hanoi 11/2010 - Hotel is in central location, roos are ok, not fncz butclean, WiFi is free, helpful staff, breakfast is included in 66 US$/night,. rated as 4 * hotel, has own shuttle service, has continetal (a little basic) and chinese mornig buffet with ready made eggs and sausages, has also conference rooms available, was my first time in Hanoi, stay was better than I thought, December is a nice time, only 22 - 25 degres C
- Tye_Andrew (2/5): Terrible - I stayed in this hotel together with my mom, aunts and uncle of whom are late fifties and above. We have flown in from Saigon and used this hotel to stay for a night before heading to Halong Bay to stay on the junk cruises. The first night we arrived, even after lowering our expectations, we really wanted to move out to a better hotel. But it was too late. Even then we were already contemplating to look for other hotels to stay when we return for a night after the Halong Bay cruise. Lucky that on our return stay, the rooms given to us seem somewhat newer. The previous rooms were dark and eerie-like. The only plus point is that our rooms had a verandah looking out to the lake. Should you stay here, be prepared for no room service and no restaurant (the one they claim to be a restaurant looks like a make-shift (a function room turned restaurant!). Our breakfast was poor. There were insects flying and landing on the breads and other condiments. The chefs were sitting around the nearby tables chatting away... Oh my...

Room: Size OK, air conditioning OK, cleaniness above average, TV programmes OK, overall function OK Breakfast: Lack of variety, had almost similar choices throughout the five days, found small cockcroaches in 2 of 5 days Front desk: command average English, friendly, accurate most of the time Others: Need to pay for internet usage @USD.75/15 minutes. Other camparable hotels are giving free. Overall Rating: 3.5 out of 5.
