Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (6/5): Well located. A bit expensive for what it offers. - Interesting place, in the heart of Palermo Soho. The rooms do not have windows. The place is a former convent. It is neat and tidy. The breakfast, which is basic, is to be shared at one at the same table with the other guess.
The pictures suggest a lavish place, which is promising. The reality was a bit disappointing. It is not really a place that invites you to stay “home”. It is a locked-in kind of hotel.
- Ellie (10/5): - Delicious breakfast, fresh fruit, freshly squeezed juice, croissants and coffee. Staff very helpful especially on the desk. Good safe location.
- Eugene (8/5): - Great location in Palermo, only a few blocks away from good restaurants, shops and parks.
- William (8/5): - Convenient location, clean, you feel like a local. Good deal for the cost
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Well located and nice ambiance! All was good, no complaints
- becks (10/5): Lovely friendly hotel - The hotel and its staff were lovely - and close to the delights of Palermo. Breakfast was great.
Easy to walk to a few sights from here.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The majority of the staff were very cold, and borderline rude, the two young ladies during the day were nice but the elderly lady and the evening staff, I believe Francesca, was not to welcoming.
- Diego (8/5): Nice little hotel - Nice little hotel
Vale a pena!
- FS (8/5): Nice hotel good location - Very good. Confortable (except for the bathroom that needs renovation) and charming. They kept my laggage for long hours and let me use the restroom although I had already checked out. Very nice people
- Verified traveler (6/5): Decent value easy access in an expensive part of B - The hotel is not quite as nice as pictures show BUT it is quiet and the staff are very helpful. Access to downtown on the metro/subte is very easy and very cheap. It is only 6 blocks from the hotel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Thank goodness! - I stayed here completely by accident, because my airline flight was cancelled. While sitting on the floor at the airport, trying to re-book a flight and find a reasonably priced place to stay on short notice, Malabia House popped up. It turned out to be a really cool hotel! The location is beautiful and quiet, although a little far from public transit. The staff was very helpful and friendly, especially with my check out time, and breakfast was lovely. If I return to BA, I would be happy to stay here again, on purpose this time!
- kara (8/5): Handy to Palermo Soho, quiet and relaxing hotel - Handy location to Palermo Soho. Down the road from the Buenos Aires bus stop (recommend you purchase this ticket to take in the city sights and get around).
The staff are wonderful. I found Cecelia and Andrea so helpful, the cleaners friendly and the kitchen staff attentive.
The breakfast itself is continental options only (so don't expect eggs, etc) but is plentiful.
The rooms and bathrooms are very clean. I particularly enjoyed how quiet this hotel is as I was extremely jet lagged.
Things to note if you have particular preferences:
- the bathrooms are located separately to your room. You still have your own though.
- from what I saw the rooms (and mine) are internal facing - so no outside windows. There is still plenty of light in each though.
- you will have to buzz the front door to get in and out. This seems standard though - and is a security measure. The staff are always at the front desk 24/7.
- if you're looking for a vibrant buzzing atmosphere this may not be the hotel for you.
I enjoyed my time here. Thanks again to the wonderful staff.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perle i Buenos Aires - Perle beliggende i fantastiske Palermo. Stemningsfulle omgivelser.
- Alicia (8/5): Hotel bien ubicado - Buen servicio. Amables y atentos.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Ok - Old building. Ridiculously small bathrooms. No sunlight in room. Simple fruit and pastries every morning. Very far from centro. I found cockroaches in my room and killed one. Staff not responsive.
- Jo (8/5): Fantastic, atmospheric and great location - I thoroughly enjoyed staying here for about a week, friendly hotel staff, great breakfast (crepes!) a walk to Subte but nothing too long, fab area for bars and restaurants, Palermo look and feel, generally easy and would highly recommend.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Fabulous - I love this hotel! Great location, beautiful rooms and decor, gorgeous building and the best breakfast I've had while staying in Buenos Aires.
Bruno was very friendly and helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Sweet hotel - The hotel is very charming. The breakfast was just lovely. It's small so concierge services were very limited. You really need to know what you want to do on your own. Celia was very helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great Boutique Hotel - Great location near avenue, but quiet nonetheless. Great staff, helped us with questions. Sink is not inside bathroom (at least our room), in case that wakes someone in the room up. Lovely place.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice quiet hotel in great location - Malbia House Hotel is in a great location, in one of the most charming parts of Buenos Aires. It's clean, comfortable and quiet. We had a nice stay and would stay there again.
- Josh (10/5): Great hotel. Perfect location. Highly recomended - Absolutely fantastic! Boutique style hotel. Excellent staff. Location couldn't be any better for Palermo. Highly recommended
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice location to eat and to go shopping!
Staffs are so kind!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Hotel charmoso - Hotel boutique super agradável e charmoso.
- Marieliz (8/5): - Excelente
- maria (8/5): nice location - we missed our flight to el calafate so we have to stay overnight in BAs. it was near mine hotel where we stayed and deposited our luggage so we booked this hotel. Alejandro at the front desk helped us with where to exchange dollars.
- Verified traveler (6/5): good location in Palermo - we only stayed one very short night, arriving around 4am due to a cancelled flight. staff was very helpful considering the time and our last minute booking. we had a room with an external bathroom. the room itself was fine, but the external bathroom, while private, was a bit awkward to use and extremely small. it was fine for a night but might get tiresome over a longer period. breakfast was fine, nice to sit with other guests.
- Ignacio (10/5): Old Charm with Modern Comfort - Very kind staff, quiet hotel beautifully decorated and well located.
- Steven (8/5): Palermo, Buenos Aires - The Palermo neighborhood is lively, funky, and always interesting.
- Geoffrey (8/5): - Had a great stay. Just one night but it was very cozy and exactly what we wanted for a romantic night together.
- Two Bears (8/5): Great value, great neighborhood - This convent converted to BandB was clean for the most part, quiet for the most part (more on that later) and the staff were great, including the owner Maria.
The neighborhood was very walkable, quiet and great restaurants with that fantastic steak nearby. Trendy but pricey clothing also nearby, a lot of it made right there.
About a 2 km walk to the nearest subway, but a great and cheap system once you're on it. Cabs are also inexpensive. A ride downtown is $5-7 vs $0.50 for the subway. Your choice.
We insisted on a room with the bathroom integral to it (not all are so check). Because of this we got a great room on the first floor, but across from the garden/sunroom where you can take your delicious breakfast. Some people started earlier than us. Some of them were less cognizant of the fact that there were rooms very close to them and used their outside voices. You see where this is going...
Great breakfast 8-12, friendly staff, good price and neighborhood. Somewhat long walk to the subway.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good location, great staff - The room was large and the bed was very comfortable. The employees are extremely friendly and helpful. It's in a great section of Palermo with lots of restaurants nearby.
I'd say the only negative was that the bathroom and shower were very small. Otherwise I loved it and plan to stay there again
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely place! - Wonderful, helpful, friendly place. Clean, comfortable, great location. Would stay there again in a heartbeat. Ask for the front room, most don't have windows to the outside, although they are perfectly comfortable - have windows to the hall which is open to a bright courtyard.
- Gary (10/5): Malabia House Offers Comfort, Certain Elegance - Great "English-style" hotel with spacious rooms, high ceilings, ceiling fans and shuttered doors. This comfortable little hotel is reasonably priced and situated in the stylish Palermo district among shops, bars, restaurants and coffee shops. Lots of little touches in the common areas and dining room add to the atmosphere. Definitely, I'd recommend this establishment to friends and associates.
- kathryn (10/5): Excellent spot - Perfect size, location and ambience on side strret in Palermo Viejo, border of Soho barrio. Staff helpful and informative on local culture and happenings.
- David (8/5): Wonderful breakfast, courteous staff - Great hotel for a great price in Palermo. Staff helped out tremendously when our taxi back yo airport wasn't responding and by giving free converters to use. Nice tip on currency exchange although rates still widely in flux.
- nicholas (2/5): Thieves - They keep your money when you cannot stay there (visa issues) after saying, "ok no problem. safe travels." Greedy, greedy people. So sad to have such greedy people in this world :(
- Anant (10/5): Beautiful hotel in a great location - Couldn't have picked a better place for our 5-day stay in Buenos Aires. The hotel is beautiful, the staff is very helpful and provided plenty of restaurant and sightseeing recommendations. The location is right in Palermo Viejo so there is no shortage of restaurants, bars, shops and parks in every direction.
- Pablo (10/5): A lovely, intimate hotel - This is a small hotel, very well located in the Palermo neighborhood of Buenos Aires, and surrounded by small shops, antique places and good restaurants. The hotel is an old house, converted to be a boutique hotel. The rooms are cozy and well furnished, the complimentary breakfast is superb. A perfect place for a romantic escapade, where you will be treated well and will enjoy Buenos Aires at its leisurely pace.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Amazing - The hotel must have 5stars. The hotel have a good breakfast and make the stay very good
- MmTw (2/5): Boutique but lacks basics not 3.5 star - Very boutique feel, basically a very nice town house just off the bustling area of Palermo. Great location in between the shopping district and Palermo bars. However overpriced for value. Rooms are small, bathrooms tiny. Many thing in the room need of repair. No window in our room, was promised balcony! Howrver it let light in from corridor and other rooms as well as sound as no soundproofing! Bed was not comfy and very creaky. Not shower/tub combo as the bathroom was the size of a bathtub. Flush was broken and failed to be repaired when asked. Staff were distant but polite. Breakfast looked fancy but was just bread and jam. Can get much better for the price even in location or just use excellent transport and taxis!
- Emma (10/5): Beautiful hotel in great location - Beautiful stay in a converted convent. We had a room with no external windows and a bathroom down the hall but it didn't matter at all - the room was very light and beautifully furnished and you simply felt as though you were staying at a friend's house.
Breakfasts were lovely and the staff were fantastic, friendly and helpful.
The location was fantastic with a huge choice of shops, bars and restaurants just minutes away.
We'd love to go back!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Wonderful hotel in great neighrborhood - The hotel was great! The staff were very friendly and the room was clean and comfortable. Very close to lots of shops and restaurants - also go to Don Julio (a few blocks away) for dinner -- you will not be disappointed!
- Shavon (10/5): Simply lovely - Staying at Malabia House really saved my trip to Buenos Aires. I had been there a week and I was about to write BA off as overrated. I decided to move to the Palermo section and found this hotel and fell in love with it. Huge rooms, the bedding is so comfy I overslept for the ferry to Colonia, the croissant was the freshest ever and the table setting in the dining room was gorgeous. It felt like home. I'll definitely go back to Palermo as there's no better place to stay.
- Helen (8/5): - Very hospitable team, rooms very cute and nicely decorated yet functional, nice breakfast. Location very convenient to the bars, shops, and restaurants in Palermo Soho. Street and immediate surrounding area felt safe for a solo female traveller. Bit of a schlep to the subway, but cabs are everywhere.
- Kevin (8/5): Perfect in every way - Fantastic area! Lovely and v helpful staff. Great breakfast! Very comfy bed,
- Marilyn (10/5): Peaceful Haven - This hotel has everything. You enter the door on the busy Palermo road and suddenly you are in a different world. The hotel is elegant, interesting and peaceful. It provides everything you want with breakfast available at any time of day! The rooms are spacious and well lit whilst retaining a romantic atmosphere. Above all else this hotel has fantastic staff. Whatever their role they are warm, friendly, patient and extemely helpful. We loved the place, would recommend it and definitely return.
- Verified traveler (8/5): very cute, sweet little hotel in Buenos Aires - Best parts: The service. The staff is so sweet, kind, always eager to help. Also, the hotel is extremely clean and well kempt. The location is great - very safe neighborhood with great restaurants and shops.
The only down side is that the rooms are a little small and that the twin beds are more European-sized (read: narrow), but honestly, it's a boutique hotel, not the Four Seasons. The value cannot be beat.
- Donna (10/5): The Most Caring Hotel Ever - This was my second visit to Malabia House in the last year. I returned to Buenos Aires as much for the hotel and its congenial staff as for the city. There is a genuine caring for each guest and an artistic touch to every aspect of the hotel. The breakfast buffet is memorable. Highly recommend if you are looking for a great location in Buenos Aires and hotel with warmth and charm.
- jeremy (10/5): Small & Lovely - the hotel and staff were completely charming... allowed us to check in hours early.. very clean and comfy... bathroom is a bit small.. but thats really the only negative... highly recommend!
- Moya (10/5): Wonderful small hotel in Buenos Aires - Rooms very clean and comfortable. Nicely decorated. Bathrooms a little on the small side. Wonderful staff and very helpful. Situated in a very nice upscale part of Buenos Aires called Palermo, close to excellent restaurants and good stores for shopping.
- Thomas (10/5): 1555 Malabia House--charming small Palermo hotel - This is a charming very small hotel on a chic shopping street in the Palermo neighborhood of Buenos Aires. The rooms are clean, comfortable and quiet; the staff is very friendly and helpful; the breakfast is good; and we thought we got good value for the money. Palermo has a lot of the best shops and restaurants in Buenos Aires and it's adjacent to the other neighborhoods of interest to tourists in this big city.
