• D. Davies (10/5): A great stay at Hotel St James - Exceptional helpful staff and close to everything. Rooms are a good size and there is a bathtub and shower. Bed was comfortable and had a great night sleep. Water could have been hotter in the shower

Es war schmuck-und lieblos eingerichtet. Es war zwar vom Bügeleisen bis zum Fön alles vorhanden aber nur in der billigsten Version. Das Zimmer war zwar sauber aber so klein, dass es nur einen ganz kleinen Kasten und eine Kommode hatte.

• LUCIA (8/5): Estupendo, barato y cómodo. - Es un hotel viejo, pero está muy bien reformado y acondicionado para que se sienta ese aura de antiguo pero con una comodidad actual. La ubicación no puede ser mejor, a muy pocos minutos de varias bocas de metro, al lado de Times Square, cerca de muchos teatros de interés y con gran cantidad de restaurantes para desayunar y comer bien cerca. El personal es amable, te guardan la maleta si lo necesitas, el agua caliente funciona perfectamente, la limpieza es muy buena, la cama es suficientemente cómoda, se está muy calentito en la habitación, hay perchas y un secador con más potencia de la que esperaba. Tuvimos problemas un par de días respecto al agua que nos la cortaron, pero supongo que son cosas habituales en edificios que tienen tantos años. Lo arreglaron rápido. La habitación es pequeña y se escucha mucho la caldera y cuando entra o sale gente de las habitaciones y las voces en el pasillo.

The room location to everything was perfect. Reception was friendly and I loved the fact that when ever we came in there was a person there, it just felt safe. Would of loved a small fridge to keep some drinks cold.

• 719Traceyc_8 (8/5): Great location - It’s what you expect for the price - the location is amazing, The hotel - staff helpful and welcoming, not much going on in the hotel but plenty just outside the door. The lifts were a little bit scary ! The room and bathroom were clean. Very basic hotel but you are in New York so you’re not going to be in your room very much - bed was comfortable and shower was mostly hot. We had a sofa in our room that wasn’t needed but had no draws or any storage- the wardrobe was blocked by the bed so that wasn’t useable and the safe was in there so again not able to be used. I would suggest get rid of the sofa and add some storage. Other than that room was ok not too noisy and warm. But great location

Tiny room that looked out on a “courtyard” (essentially another wall 20 feet away.) But I DID NOT care - I was in NY to be in NY! They will hold your luggage early or late. Super nice staff. Slooowwww elevators in this classic old building. I heard zero noise overnight. Will return!
• PCPP (8/5): This is a 2 star hotel but 4 for location. - This is a 2 star hotel right in the location you want to be. The wifi is unstable so if you rely on using it to book shows and tours it’s difficult. The bathroom is the smallest one I’ve ever seen with a tub shower combo. No great place for curling iron or makeup mirror. But you can not beat the location to broadway Times Square or Rockefeller center. The elevators are also from the first elevators and there is stairs to get into hotel. The beds were hard at first but it didn’t matter after all the walking - I say I’d pay more and stay at better hotel next time but the location is awesome and the hotel is very quiet so I might book again. Book this if location is hit high priority.

• PhillyAHardy (4/5): Shopper beware and informed - On our first night, during heavy rain and freezing temperatures (31°F), the windows in our assigned room would not fully close, allowing rainwater to trickle into the room. At the same time, the only heat source was a radiator with no temperature control, causing the room temperature to rise to approximately 78°F. With no ability to regulate the temperature and rain entering through the window, we were forced to turn the heat off entirely and endure the conditions for the night since it was already very late. The second night presented another major disruption. Around 1:00 AM, a rooftop compressor from the neighboring building began cycling on and off, producing noise comparable to a semi-truck directly outside our 12th-floor window. We contacted the front desk and were eventually offered a room change at 1:00 AM. The replacement room unfortunately had similar issues: again, there was no HVAC control beyond a radiator that could only be turned on or off, and the window air conditioner had been bagged and left in the window, allowing cold drafts and outside noise into the room. Additionally, we were informed that the water would be shut off from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM the following day, which required us to alter our plans. The most difficult situation occurred on our departure morning. Checkout was at 11:00 AM, and when we woke up we discovered that the water was once again shut off. This meant we were unable to shower, brush our teeth, or properly prepare before leaving for an eight-hour travel day. When we raised this concern with the front desk, we were told that a sign had been posted and that we should have read it. I asked why management had not communicated such an important service disruption through more reliable means—such as a text message, email, a notice placed inside each guest room, or even a message on the in-room phone system. I also pointed out that if English were not my first language, a paper sign posted somewhere in the building would not necessarily communicate that the water for the entire property would be shut off. The response I received was simply that I “should have asked.” I then asked whether guests are expected to ask each day whether basic services such as running water will be available in their rooms.
• benjamin (9/5): Simple, clean, comfortable stay in a perfect Times Square location — great value for NYC. - Stayed here for the location and it really can’t be beat — just steps from Times Square and the Broadway theaters. I had a queen room that was actually larger than most Manhattan hotel rooms, which was a nice surprise. The bed was comfortable and everything was clean. It’s a pretty standard hotel and not fancy, but for the price it’s a great value and worked perfectly for a NYC trip They do charge $25 for early check-in if a room is available, which is something to be aware of. The room doesn’t have central heating or a thermostat. Heat comes from a radiator, and the window A/C unit isn’t fully sealed, so the room was a little chilly during my winter stay There’s no microwave or mini refrigerator in the room—just a heads up.

• Erika (8/5): Great location for a weekend away when you aren't planning to spend a lot of time in your room. - The location is excellent. Very close to Times Square but not right on the main street so noise is minimal. Front desk staff was professional and helpful. Despite not being a 'big name' hotel it felt safe and comfortable. It's an older building that could use some freshening up. My room was clean and the bed was comfy but everything was very 'economy'. Scratchy towels, cheap amenities, slightly broken bedside lamp etc.

• Leanne (7/5): Convenient, clean and value for money in New York - Hotel St James is close to Times Square and was convenient for our stay over new years eve. It's an older hotel though the room was clean with a hot shower and served our needs. The bed required a new mattress. The springs were making noises and was not the most comfortable to sleep on. A little bar fridge and coffee making facilities would also be nice for guests in the future.

• LexiV (8/5): Great Budget Option - We used this hotel for a mother/daughter trip and it worked well for our purposes. The location is perfect. Our view was odd: our windows looked out on another building's windows, which were very close to ours. It seemed to be a co-working space. We kept our curtains closed the entire time because the people in those windows could clearly see right into our room. If you can deal with that, I highly recommend this hotel.

• Carol (6/5): I think there really is no value for money in New York - Great location and friendly staff bed hard Noisy air conditioning, blinds that did not work, no fridge , single lock on door, looked out my small window at a brick wall, add ons such as tax per night not advertised
• Mark (8/5): - One of the best locations in the city and the staff was especially friendly! No breakfast options however it is within walking distance of many great places to grab some
• Heather (9/5): It was amazing! - The bed was super comfortable and loved the location. It was close to subways and walking distance to most things we wanted to do on our trip. We wish the room would have a mini fridge to keep drinks in for when we were in the room, but we were close enough that we could walk to walgreens and grab drinks, they just were hot.
• Jason (8/5): A terrific place to stay and experience New York City, as it is close to many attractions! - The Hotel St. James is a great choice if one is looking for a place to stay during a holiday in New York City. The hotel is comfortable and the location is idyllic, close to many attractions. A fridge would had been a helpful addition.
• Georgia (3/5): Good location. Dated facilities. Squeaky bed. Musty smell. Thin walls. - Location and price. The bed was very squeaky. Could not move without the springs making a loud noise. Staff were not very welcoming. Very dated facilities and had a musty smell throughout. Walls were also very thin and could hear people in the room next door.

• Catarina (10/5): Super recommend! - Location, location, location! The staff was also super friendly and allowed us to leave our luggage there after checkout. The room was simple, but enough for a comfortable stay and always clean.

• Ksenia (9/5): - очень приятный интерьер, как будто в старом фильме невероятное расположение, удобная кровать, можно оставить вещи на хранение после выселения на несколько часов был довольно сильный шум от батареи, если сон чуткий - это может мешать довольно тяжелая дверь на входе в отель и лестница небольшая, самостоятельно немного тяжело входить-выходить

Los ascensores son viejos. A veces demoran y hay que tener paciencia. El aire acondicionado muy ruidoso. La limpieza de la habitación regular.
