- CC (7/5): Good value for money - The hotel beach is great and when we were there it wasn't too crowded.
The breakfast was good. It is good value for money but needs an update for sure. The pillows were horrible and every time we showered, water went all over the bathroom as the shower head was old.
- Jo (10/5): -
- Greg (6/5): Unpretentious locals resort for mexicans - The food was ok the rooms are ok the staff are amazing and the beach is the best in cancun The rooms and food
- Mark (5/5): It was ok for the price - Food was good at nighttime. The rooms need an upgrade, the toilet sometimes didn’t flush, the mattresses were ripped and old.
- Hugo (7/5): -
- Phyllis (10/5): We enjoyed our visit thoroughly! Thanks! - Lindo restaurant staff was excellent!
Lots of food variety.
Breakfast buffet was delicious. Curros were so good!
Beach was beautiful!
All staff were so helpful and pleasant. 😊 Not a new facility but comfortable.
- Catarina (10/5): - Tudo incrivel, desde o staff a localizacao e instalações.
- Ivana (4/5): - I like the hotel grounds and the beach The rooms were very very outdated and weren't client properly. When we closed our door it had a large opening where people waking in the hallway can see inside . This door opening also caused and issue because we can see the light beaming in at night and hear all the noise from people staying there. We also had very very noisy neighbors we called two complained several times but nothing was done regarding the situation .
- Rebecca (1/5): The location was good the hotel run down and dirty. - The location It was dirty, run down, and the photos did not represent the actual rooms. The bedding was awful, it smelled like sewage, and we have bites that we are afraid are from bed bugs. We only stayed for one night.
- Alla (10/5): - This hotel like family. Stuff is very friendly, caring and helpful. Beach is nice. Beautiful green territory around with tennis court and even small zoo for childreen. Peacocks and parrots are amazing. Food in restaurants...I like everything. Hope that I will return again ..
Etc
- HELEN (4/5): A weird hotel stuck in the twilight zone - The peacocks wandering around and the iguanas First of all the name of the hotel was dos playas, not maya Caribe. Weird . The access to the restaurant bars was absolutely bizarre. You had to go to the office and buy a ticket . But you couldn’t buy a ticket just to get a drink at the bar. You could buy a ticket for dinner that included a few (bad)drinks. I don’t even know what the bars were there for.
It was like the management Was stuck on some kind of business model that may have worked in the 1960s. But it was pathetically out of date for today’s travelers.
- Blanca (2/5): It was close to the beach that’s all - It was good location Staff was rude and I got there at 8 pm they charged me 600 pesos for including pass I told the guy I was going to dinner outside the hotel and next day they charged me again 600 pesos I had breakfast only there food was disappointing
- Daniel (10/5): - This was my family's first trip to Mexico and we didn't know what to expect. Upon arrival we were greeted warmly and though we were too early for check in they got one of our rooms ready for us immediately and gave us our wrist bands to enjoy the bar while we waited for the other. While the property is old and a tad dated, it was clean and well maintained. The beach is fantastic with lots of loungers and nice sand. The food was great! Each day breakfast, lunch and dinner had different options and there was always something one of the pickier eaters in our group found they really liked. The staff was the highlight of the experience, everyone from roomkeepers, bartenders and even the security guards were friendly and very patient even with my very limited Spanish (most of the staff spoke better english than I do spanish) Guadalupe in particular made our time at the buffet so good. He immediately took to doting on my family each time we arrived for a meal, making sure we had everything we needed, including making sure my tequila never ran dry. At the end of the trip, him and I parted with a handshake and a hug and that alone was enough to make me want to come back to Maya Caribe. Tip the staff, get your expectations in check that this isn't a 5 star resort but an incredibly cozy and authentic feeling gem and you'll have a great time.
- David (9/5): -
- lucia (10/5): -
- jose wilbert (2/5): -
- Bibiana (8/5): - The amenities, food and beach are excellent
- Caner (5/5): - Safe area in hotel zone, staff were helpful. We were able to go into the pool before check in/luggage storage. Good for the price. Can't buy drinks, either all inclusive or nothing.
Property very run down
- PEDRO (5/5): REGULAR - EL DESAYUNO MUY BUENO Y VARIADO SU PERSONAL ATENTO DEL RESTAURAN EL RECEPCIONISTA UN POCO DESPOTA NO DA BIEN LA INFORMACION
LAS HABITACIONES NO SON LAS QUE ESTAN PUBLICADAS EN SU INFORMACION DE BOOKING
ME SENTI UN POCO ENGAÑADO Y ADEMAS EL RECEPCIONISTA NO DA INFORMACION DE LA GESTION DE LA FACTURA Y DICE QUE NO HAY RELACION CON BOOKING.
- Quezada (9/5): -
- Lucia (10/5): Exceptional - i really like the entertainments like the star shows amazing the Juan Gabriel imitation the best , the food was really good!!
Honestly for the price it was all really good!! out dated rooms and cheap alcohol
- Antonio (8/5): - This is an older but nice property with a nice beach. The room is a little outdated, but serves its purpose. The staff was friendly. The food is very authentic and offers something for everyone. You will need to drink fast or drink more to get the most out of the alcohol but the bartenders are nice. I would definitely stay again for the property, price and beach.
- Brandon (10/5): - It’s a good resort lots of all inclusive options
- Radini (10/5): Exceptional -
- Radini (10/5): Exceptional -
- Linda (4/5): - didn't meet our expectations - not as described
- Diego (4/5): - I stayed in B10. That room is highly neglected and should not be used for housing. The bathrooom sink faucet is delapitated and unhinged and the water leaks. The towels must be over 10 years old. The worst part are the peacocks that are housed right out the front door. They gackle at all hours of the night. I asked the front desk to be moved after one night. I was given room 3003. It was literally like staying at a different hotel. Night and Day.
- Nour Dine (8/5): - Nice place if you are looking for beach
- Nour Dine (8/5): - Excellent place if you are looking for beach ..Rooms right front of the beach .
- M7150VHmichelles (10/5): A home from home! - My husband and I have been vacationing at the Maya Caribe/Dos Playas for over 10 years now and we can't praise the staff/the hotels highly enough!
We have fallen in love with all things Mexican, in part, thanks to our repeated stays at the Maya Caribe/Dos Playas!
All the staff help to make our vacations the best they could possibly be however, Yeing (the Front Desk Manager) is always the stand out person, as nothing is ever too much trouble for her! Her help has been invaluable to us over the years!
We are sad however, as we found out that Andreas, who we had known and who had helped us every vacation, ever since our very first vacation at the Maya Caribe/Dos Playas, had sadly passed away. The place won't quite be the same without him.
Vacation at the Maya Caribe/Dos Playas for the value for money rooms/packages, return for the location, views, food, drink, staff & the ambience!
- Kristine Maureen (6/5): - The area by the water was beautiful, definitely a smaller resort which was nice! Rooms were ok definitely needing renovations especially the washrooms. Room service was inconsistent regarding filling supplies the soap toilet paper etc. also inconsistent on times when room service comes. Food and drinks were great options for local food and American food which was liked
- Robert (6/5): - Our stay was nice. The room was fine but the bathroom could use a facelift, it’s been awhile. The view was wonderful from our room. I do recommend an ocean view room if you can because the breeze is amazing. The beach was nice and there was shade in the afternoon from the buildings and trees. The food was good and of course the drinks were wonderful. The property was clean and the staff were very nice. It was a little noisy at times from the ferry and catamaran trips from the adjoining property but not enough to ruin your day. I would definitely book again as the value was worth it.
- Anis (10/5): - I liked the price and the quality of the dining options. People are weclome and professionnal. Very nice beach,
- Oliver (8/5): - Nice place on the beach with good food options. Would visit again.
- Mark (8/5): - Value for money budget all inclusive with a better beach than the 5 star hotels. Beautiful grounds with Peacocks and Iguanes roaming free
- Mariya (8/5): - Mexican restaurant was amazing, breakfast buffet was wonderful
Parking is available
Rooms are dated, because of the food and price would stay again
- laurawI4533DX (4/5): Solo female set up by reception staff to be robbed or worse on my first my first night!!!! - I booked maya caribe Faranda this is actually run down and pretty much derelict! It has been bough out by hotel dos playas Faranda Cancun! They are next door connecting to each other! I am a female solo traveller I arrived at around 8pm I booked a room with a balcony and sea view as pictured on the website. I wanted to be upper floor obviously as I am a young woman on my own! The 2 dodgy looking men on reception put me in what I can only describe as a prison cell!! It was absolutely horrible dark dingy room right next to the main road on ground floor they call it "bungalow 7" "b7" the bathroom window was made of chicken wire, with a few flimsy broken plastic shutters half of them was missing!!! I had someone nocking at my door at 1am obviously I ignored it!! Then again woken up at around 3am to noise at the bathroom window I was half asleep and drunk from the bar man Omar" special welcome cocktail" (I don't normally drink alcohol) I woken up at 5:30am I was using the toilet, someone was outside my bathroom window watching me they pulled the electrics out for the lighting outside so I couldn't see who was there!! Then heard them rustling about!! They turned my water off!! I had to brush my teeth with bottled water!!! then my tap magically turned its self back on I suspect I was been stalked all night!!! I think they was trying to get me outside to find help from staff LOL!!! The staff intentionally put me in that room because I was a girl on my own just arrived noing I have money to spend I dread to think what could have happened if I'd have opened the door!!!!! The next day I checked out of that derelict part of the hotel up the hill and given another room with a sea view and balcony (what I had booked and paid for) the balcony wasn't pained and been held together with planks of wood it needed work I was just happy to be out of that horrible first room!! Everything was fine until I had a shower and once again the bathroom window had been pulled open it was just a sheet of plastic with silicone around it half ripped out at this point I was very angry and felt extremely unsafe!!! The room next door to me was vacant and had bars outside on the bathroom window and an actual real window inside I went to reception requested that room!! They told me NO we have other guests arriving later on that day!! So I had to remind them that I am also a paying guest!!! That had just arrived and had a horrendous scary first night I know fine we'll staff are behind it and set me up because there is security right next to the "bungalow"!!! They eventually gave me the safe room next door after making me feel like I was a problem for just wanting to feel safe on holiday I travelled 10 hours on a plane from the UK and had paid a lot of money for!!! Other than this the hotel was ok the food was actually really nice 10/10. Room was spacious nice big balcony looking onto the sea!! Bars on bathroom window I was finally safe 3 rooms later lol ... My room was cleaned everyday by house keeping!! I met lots of really nice guests there!! The beach was ok just not enough sun lounges for the hotel!! I went to dolphin discovery had 1 Pina colada and felt tipsy I don't usually drink alcohol but love the taste of Pina coladas!! I had 7 at the hotel and didn't feel tipsy in the slightest they water the alcohol down big time!! I then got another 2 and asked for them to be strong he used a different bottle and I was drunk after them!! As I am a light weigh lol!! The water in the pools are merky I didn't see anyone using them other then children!! The staff in the restaurant are really friendly and polite running around getting you drinks expectinh tips. I ran out of money on the last 3 days and noticed a change I didn't get offered a drink or even acknowledge as I didn't want to keep cash on me!! The ferry port to isle of murjerys and other boat tours is right next door to the hotel that's a bonus!! There is also a shop called oxxo across the road always keep your converter on your phone as they tried charging me £30 more on top of the shopping I had paid for and had to go back and get my money off them!! I won't be returning to Mexico I didn't have a great experience and I am well travelled!! They are always trying to extort you!! Maybe if I'd have picked a different area I might have had a better experience who nos!!
- Yury (6/5): - Question to the hotel administration: I would really like to know how private property can be on a public beach (10 meters), so that the person from the massage parlor in front of the hotel did not allow sun beds to be placed and kicked vacationers out of this place?
- Apolonio (2/5): - Nothing was nice about this place it was dirty and over price the food selection was horrible
- Keiichi (10/5): Two week stay - Really enjoyed our 14 night stay.
Hotel is tired, but service by staff fantastic, and the food was great.
Good location for sightseeing and onsite beach was amazing.
I would recommend this Hotel and planning on returning soon.
Thank you
- Mary (10/5): - Our stay was amazing!! Beautiful property. Very friendly staff. Good evening entertainment. Food was OK. We will definitely return!!
- Velasco (1/5): Bad -
- Silvia (6/5): Resort at a great location but with rooms in need of repairs - Food was good, the location and the beach were great. Also the staff is very friendly and accommodating. The room is in serious need of repairs. The bedding was clean but very old and should be replaced. The wifi kept cutting out too.
- Olinda (8/5): - Great Location! The sea waves were not as strong as in the main Hotel Area. The view was amazing from my hotel room. Overall would stay here again.
- bucksmallsy (10/5): A picture is worth a thousand words... - Yet another perfect vacation, in no small part thanks to us staying at the Hotel Maya Caribe!
As always, all the staff were friendly and hardworking however, the following people deserve a special mention, due to them being an integral part of our vacation, year after year:
Yeing - Hotel Manager.
The best Hotel Manager ever and an all round beautiful human being!
Andreas - Ex Porter, now in charge of all things to do with the hospitality pool towels.
Our vacation just wouldn't be the same, if we didn't see the guy who has helped us right from our very first vacation at the Hotel Maya Caribe!
Luis Cen - Restaurant Iguanas Supervisor.
When Luis Cen is working, we always know that we'll be looked after extra specially well!
Additional shout outs go out to Josue (Porter) and Miranda (Reception personnel). They both always go the extra mile if we ask them for anything!
Read all our other Maya Caribe/Dos Playas reviews to see why we keep coming back!
Roll on February 2025!
- Marina (7/5): Good - Price and location Dirty and old
- Jessamy (10/5): Stunning, relaxing, beautifully serene, so worth doing the all inclusive package! - Location is beautiful, so many options for food! Staff were so friendly and always helpful! we loved watching the peacocks strut around too! There could be more beach chairs
