- Yuridia (10/5): - It was actually really nice, I loved that it was so close to the subway station and had restaurants all around! didn’t have to worry about food and transportation. One thing I do wanna see improvement is their showers, it’s so tiny! Not made for bigger people.
- Cruiser02900213315 (2/5): Horrible place, the smell of urine is overwhelming. - Place is horrible. The smell of urine in the room was so bad I had to leave and find another hotel. My friend's that booked the room left as well. Never again will I step foot in this Hotel. Staff was very rude when they complained about the smell and didn't want to give them a refund. They ruined our trip to New York in a matter of minutes. Stay somewhere else, Stewart Hotel is a nasty place in my opinion and you won't be happy with your stay.

My complaint is still unresolved months after submitting it. Thus almost ruined our us holiday. Fortunately we stayed at the fairmont after and recovered.

- Jodieallabouttravel (6/5): Decent location - The staff were all very nice and we were upgraded on arrival to a suite. The room was a little odd, with a huge living area and quite a small bedroom area, we had 2 bathroom/showers and a large kitchenette (we didn't use), The room was tired, with stains on the blinds, the carpet was frayed in places. The bathroom cleanliness was questionable, i wasn't sure if it was dirt or miscolouring. The temperature was nicely controlled in the room. The floor we were on had a vert distinct smell of weed the whole time we were there, despite not being able to smoke in the hotel! The location is good just a few moments from Macys, and around 15 mins to Times square. Plenty of places to eat in the vicinity. Overall, it was fine, the decor didn't bother me to bad as it was a shirt break and we were mostly out of the room, but more attention to cleanliness would be a good move for the hotel

After getting home they didn’t send the money and are now denying they owe us!! It is disgusting behaviour. Please no one ever stay here!!
- H8056KWnicolab (2/5): Nightmare of seventh avenue - Nightmare on seventh avenue Please avoid this hotel at all costs, on our first night the bedroom ceiling had water pouring through and we had to use pans to collect the water, was told by maintenance nothing could be done. Bedroom not cleaned when we arrived had nuts remnants on the floor by the side of the bed, blinds falling off, receptionist tells untruthful and the manager too busy to speak to guests and when you do finally speak to him no apologies just rude
- G832SIalisons (2/5): Avoid at all costs! - I took my daughter to New York for her 18th birthday. On arrival, I was asked to provide credit card details for a $300 security deposit and was assured it would be returned on check-out. During our 4 night stay, we had several issues with the quality of the hotel. Firstly, we had to request our room was cleaned and our towels changed. Then we arrived back from a day's sight seeing to find that our door was ajar and our key cards no longer worked. We were offered no apology for the fact that our belongings were left vulnerable all day and the explanation for the key cards failing to work was that the clocks had gone back that morning. Despite trying several times to get key cards that would unlock our door, they eventually had to move us to an alternative room. Both of the rooms were shoddy and unclean, particularly the bathrooms. The coffee provided in the rooms was undrinkable and we went across the road to the nearest Starbucks each morning. On check-out I enquired about the security deposit and was told that it had already been refunded to my card. A couple of days after I returned home, I saw a charge to my card by the hotel of $168. I immediately emailed to find out what this charge was and, almost three months later, I am still waiting for a response. I also spent over £10 in mobile phone charges trying to call the hotel but have never received a response to my voicemails. I then contacted my bank and disputed the charge. They have investigated on my behalf and have discovered it was a standard fee for the coffee in the room, the laundry service and use of the gym. As previously mentioned, the coffee was undrinkable and we had to ask for our towels to be changed. We did not once use the gym. The hotel informed my bank that these charges are clearly on their website but I had booked via TUI so did not use the hotel's website. At no point during the check-in procedure was I informed that this charge would be applied to my card. I feel like this hotel has mugged me as there is absolutely nothing I can do to get my money back. In conclusion, this is an unkempt, dirty hotel with incredibly poor customer services, who charge you for services they have not provided in a very underhand manner. It's worth noting that you can no longer book this hotel via TUI.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Migrant hotel. No availability - This a migrant hotel and does not state this while booking. Had to find another hotel after being notified by the front desk there was no availability even though we were able to book the hotel room.
- SlyDj (2/5): Deposit never returned back - They practice charging a deposit of 100$ per day for every day of your stay, and they never return this amount to you. I stayed in this hotel in October 2022, and even though I contacted their customer service numerous times, to this date, they never returned $300 to me. I still don't understand why they even charged a deposit of $300 when there was nothing in my room to spend on, no mini-bar, not even a shower gel..only some ratty towels....not even a bottle of water as a courtesy. Very unprofessional and disappointing.

- 567tracyq (6/5): Family Christmas New York sightseeing trip - Was put in this hotel when the one we booked closed to house asylum seekers 3 weeks before departure. We originally booked Times Square region having visited twice before so knew the location we wanted. This hotel is directly opposite Maddison square garden and close by Macy’s and Empire State Building. The hotel and foyer is definitely 3*but the room was a 2*at the best. Limited hanging space and drawers for a family of 4. Only 6 coat hangers on a rail hidden with the safe in a small walk in lobby area as you entered room. Only 3 drawers and a bedside cabinet for rest of clothes so ended up living out of a suitcase. (Maybe this is why they provide an iron and ironing board in same small lobby area). The bathroom is small compact but clean, however in hotels generally a fabric shower curtain is unhealthy and out-dated, a bi-folding glass panel would have been cleaner and more practical and not stick to you during your shower. The air con unit had big gaps to the outside and we had to call guest services who came and put a plastic cover over it to block the draft. The window had a dirty blind up to it from the inside and the windows were dirty inside and out, not that we had a view. The bedding and towels were clean which was a big positive and the beds very comfortable after a full day of sight seeing. The only seat in the room was one small plastic chair up to a plastic folding table with a coffee machine on it which didn’t look very clean so was never used. Overall amazing trip but disappointing hotel, however as I said , wasn’t our hotel of choice. Didn’t use any amenities like restaurant or gym as was too busy living and loving the sights of NYC.

We found a potato under our bed on the first night there and no matter how many times we asked house cleaning they never did anything . My husband t shirt fell behind the unit below the tv when we got it back we found at least two other t shirts plus numerous other items …
- sarah (8/5): - Elegant & upscale lobby with 24-hour security. I felt very safe. The street is very loud with sirens. We bought a white noise at a local Target to drown out the street noise. Great location. We saved money during our vacation snacking in our room via using our mini kitchen, fridge, and microwave. There's a Starbuck's literally across the street and an awesome pastry coffee shop directly below the hotel. Greay location I'd definitely stay there again.

I have emailed you twice, I have messaged you on your website and tried contacting you through social media as well. I would have phoned but living in the uk I’m not prepared to have my phone bill go through the roof as well as already being out of pocket. You charged me 300usd for a security deposit fee which I was unaware of to begin with and to find that 4 weeks later you still haven’t refunded me for it after checking out. My bank is also trying to contact you to get my money back otherwise I’ll be taking further legal action.
- Angela (10/5): Great Location and Service - Great location across the street from MSG. A lot of great places to eat and visit. 10 block walk to Times Square. Brought in the New Year in NYC and couldn’t have stayed at a nicer hotel. Friendly service, plenty of elevators. Great lobby with work stations and plenty of seating to just hang out and relax. Great price as well. Will stay here again the next time we visit. Nice bar as well !

Stains all over the place and air was coming in from the windows so it was ver cold. Bathrooms were outdated. This hotel should not even have a one star neither Expedia recommending it.
- hayleyb641 (2/5): Do not book!!!!! - We booked a double kitchen suite (myself, husband and 2 adult "children") 10 months before arrival. We arrived to be given the smallest room with no kitchen which was also very dirty.. After speaking to reception we were told we had been given the wrong room and would be moved the next day. The next morning before we left the room we were told by the maid that the hotel is going down and that the new room we would be given would probably be really bad. She was right, yes the room was considerably bigger but so dirty, especially the bathroom. Human hair was on the bathroom floor, in the shower/bath, on the toilet flush, in the bathroom sink and also in one of the beds. Plus a large amount of dust/dirt. After complaining to reception we were told the room would be cleaned thoroughly the next day. Granted it was slightly but still wasn't to an acceptable standard. A lift we used had a used tampon on the floor and overall the hotel was very unpleasant. The "hotel" seems to focus more on the asylum seekers that occupy the lower part. Overall, PLEASE DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL. The pictures shown on the website are very misleading. You will be very disappointed and it could even spoil your time in New York which would be a shame as the city is amazing.

- X4413LNcaroliner (8/5): Holiday with friend - We love this hotel, yes it’s a bit tired but the staff are amazing and helpful, I didn’t as some have mentioned find it ‘disgusting’ and I struggle to see why anyone would. Our experience was good. It is close to Macy’s lots of restaurants and the on site restaurant is good too. When we go back again we will definitely stay here.

It’s dirty the communal lights in hallway are there so you cannot see how dirty it is!!! After changing one room as window was broken and was freezing I know we were not going to spend much time in room as wanted to explore we couldn’t wait to get out of dirty room and get in late but the most awful thing is they took money from my credit card a day later after flying home why?? They do not reply to calls or emails just take the money from us tourists because they can an absolute scam!!! Do Not stay at this shoddy hotel
- 166helenv (2/5): Dirty, horrible and unhelpful staff - Do not stay in this hotel. It is dirty and disgusting and the manager and staff are rude and unhelpful. I arrived late with my two teenage sons for a trip of a lifetime to New York to a room that was so gross and horrible that we checked out the next day and moved to another hotel. The website is misleading and the rooms are not what the website shows.
- CherryLB (2/5): Absolutely disgusting!!! - I have literally never in my life seen anything so grim and disgusting. The 3800+ people who reviewed this as excellent literally must have come from the streets!!! I had to move hotels immediately and fork out for another week in a nearby hotel just so I didn’t get eaten alive or need a tetanus shot!
- Grace (2/5): - We booked this hotel for 4 nights through Expedia. We arrived at the hotel at around 1AM. While we were in line to check in, 2 parties ahead of us were checking out complaining about the condition of their rooms. We silently hoped we would not have this issue. After checking in and getting in our room, we were so disappointed. The room was very dirty and the heat was not working. It was about 30 degrees that evening. We asked to switch rooms but the night manager said there were no available rooms. We tried to find hotels to transfer nearby but couldn’t find any until the next night. We checked out around 9am and told them the issue. The person checking us out said we will get refunded when Expedia calls them. I asked for a receipt as proof of our checkout, and he wouldn’t give us any. He assured me that we will get our money back. Expedia has called them several times at this point, and they have not answered any of their calls. I do not recommend this hotel at all. Our vacation has turned into a nightmare.

The rooms were cold (air conditioner in the window which created a breeze), noisy (windows are old), dirty (we had to purchase cleaning supplies to clean our bathroom-especially the shower) and overall just worn.
- Mannaggia (2/5): Canceled months in advance, still charged me - I booked this hotel for November months in advance. I canceled my reservation in August, and received a cancelation number and email confirmation. They still charged my credit card in November for one night. I called the reservation desk, which is just an answering service, and they gave me a number for accounting, and no one ever answers. It goes to voice mail, which is full so you can't leave a message. Emails to them bounce back. I had to dispute the charge with the credit card company.
- E5106RTsophiew (2/5): Help needed!!! - Just found out from ringing the main number that this hotel is now CLOSED. We had a booking for 3 nights in April 2023 as part of compensation for the hotel losing a valuable item of mine, despite numerous emails to them. It was nice of them to provide 3 nights however we now cannot go due to the hotel closure. Please could someone respond to this as it is a matter of urgency as we had booked flights to New York and made plans. I have left a voicemail on Xerxes mobile and sent plenty of emails but have had no response. I have left my contact details on the voicemail and emails for the general manger to respond with. - jose (8/5): - Front desk people were amazing. Very professional and helpful. The room was ok for the price. The bathroom could have been cleaner but overall, it was fine. We booked 2 weeks before our trim and we still got a good price and everything was close to us, so we had fun
- Shelly (4/5): - We stayed in room 1007. There was mold and mildew in the bathroom! Dust was alllllover the shades. The amount of grime built up in the corners of the bathroom (especially next to tub) was so gross. The vent in the shower was covered in dust. The carpet was dirty and stained. I will never stay here again or recommend this hotel to anyone. So disappointing.
- MARCELA (4/5): - When we checked in at 11pm at night, our room was not ready for us. It had not been cleaned. We had to wait in the lobby until the room was cleaned quickly (and poorly) at the last minute. I reserved for 4 travelers, but there were only pillows and towels for 3. The sofa bed to accommodate the 2 of the travelers was not made. We had to request pillows and towels. Everything was in rough shape in the room - wallpaper peeling, carpet dirty. Would not stay there again.
- geenao2022 (10/5): The best front desk staff and hotel experience - Came with my family and received the best customer service from both Alexia and Jennifer at the front desk (thank you ladies for making our stay so memorable and magical). We stayed at the suite family room and we’re so impressed by the size of our room, as well as the cleanliness, the Kitchenette, and the view. We parked our car in the parking lot for our entire stay and walked around the majority of the time, as it was located close to the majority of the major attractions.

- Fara Jane (8/5): - Location is the best that this hotel can offer. Most of the receptionists are nice and helpful. The housekeeping people, when you call their office either nobody picks up the phone or busy line. The entire stay (6 days) our room was only cleaned 2 x and we have to request it via the receptionist. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay and will stay again.

- Alejandro (8/5): - It feels like this hotel is close to everything. Subway, food, MSG, the train, shops, everything. That is the part that I found the best. Beyond that, the staff was very nice and accommodating, and the room was comfortable and well stocked.
- Elisabet (2/5): TERRIBLE; DO NOT GO - While the hotel has a good location and a fancy lobby, the rooms are quite literally falling apart. In our 2 day stay, we had to ask for new cards twice, had to have someone come to fix the windows because the AC was letting cold air in. The ac was also old and falling apart. They say they have kitchen but there is no utilery whatsoever, which makes the kitchen quite useless. (forks, cups and such) and no pans to use. Oh, also, there is literally no table to eat, in case you actually used the kitchen to cook or heat something. The furniture itself is also precarious, the shower was disastrous and part of the tub was broken, and we had half of the amenities. The sofa bed was impossible to sleep in, extremely unconfortable and with some really sharp edges in the middle. Worst of all, we were sent some medication overnight (that we forgot and absolutely needed) and they did not bother to deliver it until one day after. My husband had to actively wait for half an hour to retrieve it, otherwise they would not do it. The delivery was there one full day before they bothered to find it. They did not apologize or acknowledge their mistake. We spent close to 1000 for two rooms 2 nights, it was terrible in every possible way.
- Donald (8/5): Nice location - We stayed here about 15 years ago and came back. Arriving by train, we like that the hotel is just across the street. We had a corner suite with a great view down 7th avenue all the way th Central Park. Traveling with our adult daughter, I was happy to have the second bathroom too.
- Daniel Minella (8/5): - The rooms aren't terrible. They need to be revamped for sure. They are outdated and warn. The staff was always very friendly. There's quite alot that is within walking distance of the hotel.

- Torrance (4/5): - Very old hotel, room didn’t have a phone in it so had to call concierge from personal phone (who never picked up), so ended up having to go down to lobby for all requests. Shift managers and some staff clearly don’t need to be in the hospitality profession given their disengagement and disposition where they appear to always be bothered by questions.

They brought us a mattress cover to cover up with! Rooms smelled. Bathroom walls were disgusting. Tile had things crusted on them. Shower smelled and was dirty.

Made mistakes with room at check in but wouldnt correct it until check out. Quite frustrating. Restaurant closes too early . It's NYC folks. We went to see Andrea Bocelli. Serves liquior but no kitchen service. Very disappointed. The rooms are nice. Hallways need more lighting. Not a safe feeling. More than 1 set of towels in the room would be appreciated, especially when you have 2 guests. No cups for water or coffee?
- Jen (8/5): - Entire hotel was hot- temp must have been set to 90’s. Check in was FAST. elevator required a door key to go up- THIS WAS VERY NICE- felt safe. Room looked not so much like pictures. Def needed updating on either the pictures or the rooms. Preferably the rooms. Our room only had hot water the first day or two. Basic necessities were available in the room. View was very nice from our windows. Had to have the ac on over night and it was anywhere between 30-40 degrees outside- heat in the building was crazy. Literally across the street from MSG so that was a absolute plus**** We were just in to sleep and shower, but the rooms could use a lot of tlc. Would stay again. Staff was awesome. Everyone acknowledged you and at least smiled.

It’s a filthy, dirty and disgusting property and changing rooms twice only confirmed that the entire place is a horror show! Every surface, every wall, every lampshade every inch of this wretched and unsanitary place was a cesspool of filth!! They should be ashamed of themselves! 3.5 stars right! It’s NOT even a 1 star property. The absolute most disgusting hotel I’ve ever stayed at in my entire life!!!! No money in the world would get me to walk through those doors ever again!

- Iris (4/5): - The hotel rooms were in terrible condition: blood and fecal stains on the walls and headboard, gum and other stains on the carpet and furniture, and missing amenities like shampoo, hangers, and sufficient pillows. Housekeeping did their best and provided clean linens each day, but the rooms themselves were beyond cleaning.
- Cheryl (6/5): Disappointed - The first room I was given was very old with a musty smell. The carpet was torn ( a trip hard) and a very small room to accommodate two beds. The second room I was moved to was larger and more accommodating for two beds. The room certainly needs to be deep cleaned. The vents in the bathroom were growing dust. There was a kitchen area however no silverware. Housekeeping did come daily to make the beds however I had to call and ask for coffee as needed and bathroom tissue. Overall the price was not comparable with the accommodations compared to alternative hotels in the area (expensive for old rooms). I had booked the Stewart because of proximity to Penn Station. I have stayed at the Stewart hotel before and thoroughly enjoyed my stay, this time not so much. When I return to NY next time I will consider an alternative.
- Keith (6/5): - This hotel is in severe need of repair and updating to the rooms. The room we were given had carpets were dirty and torn. The bathroom wall paper pealing. No hangers in the closets, no cups, the chair was filthy. I went to the front desk and the the attendant was kind, concerned and gave us a new room which was much better. She was very helpful.

- Erin (2/5): - This hotel is filthy. Not dirty, not a little messy — it is FILTHY. The headboards were disgusting, bedskirts completely stained, bathroom grimy (with a leaky sink), and the carpet ripped up in parts of our room. Even the lamp and night table were incredibly dirty. There were also zero amenities — no shampoo, soap, conditioner, iron, or hairdryer. I stayed here a few years ago and it was not like this. Would never stay again and highly recommend others avoid as well. Not worth the *slightly* cheaper pricing than neighboring hotels. I’ve never left a hotel review before but this place deserves it. I came home and immediately showered and washed every item of clothing in my bag — even ones I didn’t wear. I’m afraid of what I might have brought home from a hotel that doesn’t clean it’s rooms.

- Amanda (6/5): - Check-in process was easy but took about 15 minutes because there was only 1 person working the front desk. The room had a carpet stain, pull out sofa bed had crumbs and stains, shower was tiny, tv worked intermittently (had to get it serviced twice), the ac was not available to us first night so it was very hot in the room. Staff attended to all our requests for fixing tv, additional necessities of towels and soap, and fixed tv and air unit. I expected better quality than the pictures online revealed.
- Jill (2/5): Great location but needs on overhaul!! - Our first room was shabby and in disrepair -- furniture broken, stained, and missing a drawer. Stained, dirty carpet. There was no heat! Took over an hour for a maintenance worker to arrive with a space heater. We asked for a new room. The new room had no pillows on the bed -- over 90 min to resolve this. Had to go to front desk to ask -- twice! Long que of other dissatisfied customers with one person at the front desk! They did fix the safe in a decent amount of time! Long wait (over 2 hours) for coffee pods and no new cups on the next night. Leaking sink flooded drawer with hair dryer and extra toilet paper. Bottom line -- an old hotel that needs to invest in its infrastructure and proper staffing.
- Jared (4/5): Don't stay here - The room looked nothing like the pictures online and was dirty. The carpet was not attached to the floor and was riddled with holes. There were stains on everything. For the price, this experience was extremely disappointing and not worth it. I will never stay here again and nor should you.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Terrible Experience - Room was dirty, didn’t have extra sheets, pillows, coffee machine, hair dryer etc. It didn’t even have a phone to call the front desk and the elevator was experiencing problems to reach the floor I was staying at. I had to use the service elevator in order to get into my room. For the value it wasn’t worth it.

The rooms look dirty-the windows are so dirty that you can’t see your view and the blinds are caked in dust and dirt. The first night my room was like a sauna and the bathroom smelled terrible. I asked to change room and the hotel comply to a better room.

- Jennifer Leslie (8/5): - This was a great hotel that we will be returning too! We were able to walk to alot of the stores and sightseeing oooo that we wanted too. The facility was clean but did need a small amount of upkeeping- nothing that would deter us from returning ( small carpet stain, marks on table, small rip in hallway wallpaper). Room was spacious and staff was very friendly and helpful! There is also a wonderful bakery located right next store ( Paris Baguette) that we had breakfast at daily! Accessible from the street for wheelchair via side entrance elevator which was wonderful.

Every day we had to go to reception to reset our room keys which was frustrating and with long ques was not ideal when wanting to get into our room.

- Norman (8/5): - This hotel is luxury. Super luxurious, accessible and economical for the season. The staff and cleaning team are very friendly and professional. The hotel is very well located, its facilities and rooms are comfortable and safe. They have a fridge to store your things. The only thing we are not pleased with is that the air conditioner in the room is an old window air conditioner that barely cooled and was dirty. The fridge didn't get very cold either and we had problems with the toilet due to lack of maintenance. Other than that, the stay was good. 9 out of 10
- Amy (2/5): Fire Alarms and a Hot Room - The fire alarm went off a little after 6 am with lots of announcements and noise. It scared my kids a lot. It went off again around around 6:30 am, with the same noise, announcements to stay put by the fire Marshall and alarms. Kids were upset. In addition the room is very worn out. For example, someone had broken the sink off its stand and was it was uneven (looks like someone unsuccessfully tried to glue it on). One more example of the unfortunate experience: the room was one million degrees and we couldn’t turn down the heat (already set to as low as possible). To me, $450+ for one night wasn’t worth it.
- Mary (10/5): Simply the best. - Another fabulous stay at the Stewart. As always great value for money, excellent location & friendly efficient staff. A special mention to Curtis who rescued us when our less than friendly taxi driver left us 1 block from the hotel with too many bags for us to manage. The man is a total legend.
- Marjorie (4/5): - The photos online and the actual room were in two very different conditions. While the location was convenient, the room was dirty and in major need of a remodel. We had to get towels each night, there was often no one at the front desk, and despite complaining about the stark difference in the online photo and our actual room, there was nothing done and no apology. We were very disappointed.
