Guest Reviews
- jason (2/5): Don't bother - Even though it's close to the airport traffic meant a 50 minute taxi ride tv could only get 1 chanel water in shower went from Luke warm to cold in 5 minutes . The lift was very hit and miss and no lights in the stairs.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Sharq Hotel is in the middle of Sharjah's commercial district: plenty of stores, cheap restaurants. The Fort and the old walled town are only a short walk. It's a simple, basic hotel. The room wasn't particularly comfortable, but this is exactly what I expected from a 2-star hotel in that neighborhood. There's a wide gap underneath the door so you will hear when other guests arrive and leave, and you may also have to listen to their music if they leave their doors open. The staff was courteous and always ready to help.
- Nicholas (8/5): Wonderful - I enjoyed staying there. For the amount of money I paid for the room it worth it. The receptionist are very friendly and professional.
- YEN (8/5): We had a nice time there - Everything was okie, except it took over 1 hour from hotel to Dubai by bus. But the price was reasonable and the distance seems nothing. I'm pleased with it ^^
- surjit (2/5): Location was good, close to rolla park, stores - Very dirty and smelly, could not breath, very small room.no iron, no coffee, disgusting. We hardly stayed there one night, I called expedia and got our money back for rest of 10 nights
- Irene e Aron (8/5): easy hotel cheap area - nice hotel. 17 km to Dubai, one way 20 aed$ take about 1 hour by bus. the reception can give you a room after 2 pm!
near the hotel there is cheap shops, restaurant, take away, some one open 24 hours .
- Verified traveler (8/5): Free 5.30 wake-up call - I had a pleasant stay at the Al Sharq Hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The hotel itself is quite central and close enough to other attractions. The room was nicely presented, although the bathroom was a little bit dated.
I didn't notice noise from the traffic too much, despite the hotel being located on a busy part of Rollo Square. I did notice the morning prayers, however. Situated next door to a mosque, the prayers are loud, particularly at 5.30 in the morning.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Stay away from this hotel - Worst hotel ever to stay in . This hotel has no facilities at all. Air condition not working , no cleaning , no room service. They didn't even had a bottle of water when asked. Stay away from this hotel !! There are nice hotels nearby to stay in.
- Verified traveler (6/5): 1 hour bus from Dubai but the hotel was great. - The hotel was nice. The staff was friendly and helped me a lot.
But if you want to go to Dubai, it might not be a good option because you have to take a bus to Dubai which takes about about one hour.
Also from Dubai airport it costs 85DH(about 23 US dollars) one way. The taxi or bus is the only way to get to the hotel from Dubai because they don't have train/subway.
In addition to that, sometimes, wifi didn't work.
- Tomas (6/5): Ok pobyt - Pokoje uz evidentne lecoz zazily. Vestibul pekny. Snidane predrazena a kavovar jim negungoval. Prijemni lide ovsem a snazi se vam se vsim pomoci a vyjit vstric. Za internet se uz neplati. Daleko do mesta.
- Javed (8/5): Helpful, courteous staff as always. - We have stayed here a few times now. The location is great. Near to a wide choice of shops and restaurants with easy access to taxis or buses. The staff are always helpful and polite. There is now wifi access in the rooms and the quantity of satellite channels is the most I have ever seen in a hotel. The rooms are not that big and bathrooms are becoming a bit dated. Great place for a smooth, stress-free stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Sharjah is a cheaper option to Dubai - Everything in Sharjah was much cheaper than in Dubai. The bus connections to Dubai are frequent and only cost 7 UAD for the 1 hour ride. The customer service in the hotel was excellent. On the first floor, the Wi-Fi was available in the room so there was no need to pay for it. The only drawback was that there is a mosque next door so the call to prayer is very loud in the room. Overall, the hotel is highly recommended.
- kenny (6/5): Al Sharg hotel review - If you are looking for a no frills clean place to lay your head this is the one,
- solo fairfield (2/5): sharjah - will never stay to this hotel. they have to add 20 dirham extra to the taxi fare from dubai to sharjah. coming in and out. location is really bad. unless you are india and pakistani then you can mingle with them. and there are no american fast food except KFC AND PIZZA HUT. still the area is not worthed.
- John (8/5): Hotel Al Sharq in Sharja - Sharja is the older, historical city about 20 minutes drive from Dubai. There's a 20 Dm extra charge for the taxi ride but well worth it.
This hotel has the most caring, friendly management we have ever encountered at a hotel around the world.
We booked at bargain rates yet were afforded first class treatment. Nothing was too much trouble. From street directions to the most interesting sites to where to shop and all essential contacts this is a wonderful place to stay. Our "suite" had all the essentials from aircon to plenty of hot water. I would return every time. The manager speaks 6 languages and has everyone's respect.
Rolla Square, outside the hotel lobby, is being redeveloped so cannot be used. Once this park is complete this hotel will be in a top spot too.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very good value for money - Very good value for money - small room but clean and fully serviced - little noisy air con - nice staff - free good wi-fi in the lobby
- Verified traveler (8/5): Preis-Leistungsverhältnis angemessen - gutes 2-Sterne Haus, Personal sehr freundlich, Lage eher laut, Busbahnhof 10min zu Fuß/ 5min Taxi, Bus nach Dubai in rush hour ca. 1h
- Ruhulamin (10/5): - I am very please to stay in these hotel. I like I have enjoyed a lot
- emine (8/5): if you want to visit sharjah too, it's good hotel! - hotel staff are very kind, friendly! room is a quite small, but it's not problem for this price. if you think hotel is the place just for sleep, i recconmend this hotel. there are many shops, restaulant, and shopping centre around the hotel. but if you want to go to Dubai everyday, you will spend quite much money for taxi.(but i f you take a bus, you can save much money!)
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very helpful staff. - Very helpful staff. Arranged desert safari and prompt airport drop offs. Good restaurants in the area and plenty of shops.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice place - Very nice place, nice staff , good location and suetable price .
I will book it again if i travel to dubai next time .
and definitly i recommend it for you frinds ^_^ .
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Very friendly stuff and helpful. It is great for the price .
But if you plan to be in Dubai , Hotel Al Sharq is pretty far away .. so you will be spending a lot of money going back and forth in a taxi . you might as well pay a little more and stay innnnnnnn Dubai not Sharja .
- Verified traveler (8/5): small but nice - it is small but nice stay in alSharq Hotel.
- getachew (2/5): - i am not recommend this hotel because which you see in the picture and advertisements is too def rent
- Verified traveler (2/5): Dreadful - Dreadful! the hotel is located far from Dubai, the rooms are terrible, the bed is old and unclean
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great deal - Hotel was very clean, friendly staff, great deal for such a price. Exceeded my expectations. I booked a room but found myself in a suite. I even had hotel slippers and a private safe. Stayed for one night on my way to another destination, but would recommend for a longer stay. In downtown with taxis readily available. If you like the hussle and bussle, this is the place for you. Hotel not noisy though.
- Larry (6/5): Al Sharq Hotel in Sharjah, UAE. - Small hotel, conveniently situated near bus stop, restaurants and shops. Service is with a smile, reception is very helpful. Arranged both desert and city tours which were quite insightful and exhilarating. Traffic to Dubai during rush hour and the surcharge for crossing to and from Dubai should be weighed against the gains made in affordable accomodation.
However, the sound from the mosque just next to the hotel affects privacy.
Vibrations due to HVAC services though not peculiar to the hotel alone should be improved. In the washroom, temperature of hot water before mixing is high(scalding) and should be capped/ regulated for safety and comfort of guests.
Finishes to the hotel should be improved.
All in all a decent, clean and plesant budget priced hotel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice confortable stay in Sharjah - NOT IN DUBAI - First of all.. let me point out by saying this hotel is not in Dubai! It is located in Sharjah.. the neighboring ermirate.... having said that.... The hotel was great, great service and a overall great value for money.... We were only here for 2 nights and found Sharjah to be a very cool place... much cheaper than Dubai and you find the same things you would in Dubai at a fraction of the cost.... To go to Dubai we took the bus only 7Dhs one way... very Convenient and it was a nice ride...If you don't mind taking public transport to go to Dubai this hotel is right for you!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Covers the basics, but that's it. - stayed one night in a standard room with 2 single beds. (two people staying).
Room was small and tight, bathroom was small and water got all over the floor after having a shower. This hotel was cheap and covers the basics. That's it.
Breakfast was ridiculously overpriced.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - the room is over all good but there is , no food warmer (microwave or something els )
- Ala (8/5): The best Hotel , Quality / Prix ,in Sharjah is The Holiday Hotel. Expidia should make arrengements . - The best Hotel , Quality / Prix ,in Sharjah is The Hotel Holiday International. Expidia should make arrengements with them.
- Stephen (8/5): Great Hotel - what you save on accommodation will cost you in taxis and time! - The hotel itself was very good. The staff were very helpful indeed and the room we stayed in was exceptionally pleasant. My only complaint would be at 11pm on the last night I realised the air conditioning in the lounge area (the largest area of the suite) had stopped working so the air conditioning vent in the bedroom alone, failed at keeping the whole of the suite cool and it heated up dramatically by the morning. If it had been 2 hours earlier I would have enquired about it however, we had to be awake at 0400 so getting to sleep and packing everything in advance was my first priority. My only other little criticism would be that the wifi wasn't complimentary, but then again, this was half expected for the price of the hotel. Also, the receptionist allowed me to use the wifi in the reception area to check-in with our airline free of charge.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Overpriced for what is offered - Friendly staff. Older hotel next door to a mosque and on a busy, noisy road. Everything in the rooms looks a bit tired. Parking is in a public area at the back of the hotel on a sandy plot. Parking is not secure and you are competing with the general public for spaces. Gym is small and the equipment is broken.
- Lee (8/5): Stayed there in November 2009 - Good hotel. with great staff - extremely helpful. But location is a bit problematical. It is not that far from the Dubai airport - but the traffic surrounding the hotel area is very very congested. We had to allow a LOT of time to get to the airport to catch our flight. But the staff made the stay very pleasant. The hotel restaurant was also excellent, for breakfast.
