Guest Reviews
- Desmond_lewis (10/5): Great stay! - First of, it was a gamble for me to get the hotel, I was looking for something with in reach, of food and shopping, but not too close and smack in the middle of it.
It was worth the gamble, the place was quiet enough, surrounded by trees and birds chripping. And it's more or less within reach or Changkat (Nite life), Jalan Alor (Food eating), Bukit Bintang (Shopping).. and the few others.. google it. most of the place of interest are within walking distance, or you can always Grab (Online Cab) your ways around.
The staff, the nice Malay lady was pleasent upon our arrival, and the Bangladeshis general worker are pleasent as well when I talked to them, helpful enough to their capabilities and knowledge.
Being a smoker myself.. the rooms with corridors are awesome.. just get an astray, or like the wife and I did, made a makeshift astray from empty can of drink.
The room is clean, the water pressure was great, the water heater is great.. the room we got was clean enough for us. We brought our own room slippers really.. everything was great. The only downside is, we didn't spend a lot of time in the room we got, as we were exploring the city (my feet still sore, in a good way)..
Would be a pleasure to be a guest there next time. Room 501 is great!
- 441mazenh (2/5): Not recommended - This is a very bad hotel. Not family friendly and unsafe. The room doors are very fragile easy to break. This lack of security is concerning, especially for guests traveling with young children. Additionally, the overall cleanliness and maintenance of the hotel leaves much to be desired. The lack of proper amenities and customer service further contribute to the negative experience for guests. I don’t recommend at all. Don’t get fooled with the pictures.
- Matthew Pak Lam (8/5): - Nice small hotel , good area to be in, very walkable to eateries.
- Metrius (10/5): - The room is clean and spacious. The staff are friendly. Check-in was smooth. My room 502 is facing the road, sometimes can hear the traffic but tolerable as the hotel is located in a quite corner of the street
- Kimberley (10/5): - Clean and spacious room. Aesthetic
- Maswan (8/5): - While the hotel is a bit inconvenient to travel by foot, it is located near KLCC and all the malls that visitors should make a trip to. The hotel was clean and spacious, it feels very much like a dorm / apartment because the corridors are “outdoors”. But overall, perfect for a short trip :)
- chann (4/5): Quite place, but be cautious of potential theft - Room service webt through our bags and belongings, luckily nothing was taken because we didnt leave any valuables while out and about.
- Nigel (10/5): Older, charming, renovated hotel near amenities - An excellent small hotel built in the older style with large rooms on a quiet street. Two blocks away from many restaurants and shops.
- Ahson (2/5): - I only stayed on day. On the first morning after check in, a camera flash and shutter sound occurred in the room around 5 am. When I reported it to the staff they came into my room and just stood there. When I asked them to call the police, they refused… so I left. Beware of room 202, I can’t speak for the other rooms.
- vinny (10/5): - Nice well maintained property. Very close to Bukit Bintang dining area. Public transport is not convenient
- DARREN (10/5): Great value - Clean, quiet at night, good area, close to restaurants and bars
- Verified traveler (8/5):
- Jesse (10/5): - Best value for money room I’ve had in a long time. Highly recommended. Comfortable beds, friendly reception, good location.
- Myles (10/5): - It’s a nice hotel for the price. It’s near downtown and site seeing areas Lots of bars and restaurants with a quick easy walk
- Amber (4/5): - This is not what was expected, definitely not 4-star standard. Rooms smelt damp and mouldy, our clothing soon started to smell the same. Location close to Bukit Bintang and Aloe Food Market which was convenient but closer to the hotel was a lot of pubs and clubs and generally didn't feel safe to walk through, at night. General area was very dirty and had mice everywhere, but still surprised to find a mouse in the hotel room. Staff were very accommodating and understanding regardless, they moved us to another room and helped take our things out. I have to say that the room cleanliness needs improvement as there was a lot of dust in corners and dead flies. I'm sorry but I did not enjoy my stay and would not have paid the price I paid for a room like that.
- liv (10/5): - We loved our stay in Indie hotel. Was a short walk to some restaurants for breakfast which was gorgeous. Room was clean. Couldn’t fault it
- souchyfamily (10/5): Above Expectations - Great location. Easy walk to Chinatown, Jalan Alor, Pavilion shopping centre and Bukit Bintang. King Koil bed really comfortable, great pillows, great shower and flushing toilet. Convenience store underneath.
Could do with a few more tv channels and it would be nice to have a security person.
- Himanshu (4/5): - Very disappointing stay, hotel is understaffed. Checkin process was poor, for room cleaning need to chase staff all the time, very unsafe environment anybody can walk in hotel, no proper security. Only positive point is the location close to city centre.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great for something budget - Amongst the many great things, the rainfall shower is the best thing that ever happened to me in this hotel. Is the water in KL free? I am not sure if they forgot to tune the shower head to minimize the sprinkle, but I love that I was like poured a bucket of water every time I bathe. Feels like I'm bathing on waterfalls. 😆 I love it. I like that its hallway is outdoor. You hear crickets at night and in the morning, the vision of greens is refreshing to the eyes. The room numbers are marked on the entrance floor. Unique. The staff were kind and accommodating too. They don't have amenities like pool, gym, or resto but they provide basic toiletries and stuffs in the room. The room is neat and small but enough for me or two. Not cramped at all.
- Latifah Bte (10/5): - Rooms are spacious & modern. Location within walking distance from by bukit bintang shopping district.
- Nicola (8/5): - The room was well designed with a huge bed that felt very luxurious. I stayed only one night and arrived late so just wanted to sleep. The personnel is a bit hit or miss, I had very contrasting experiences. I did not appreciate being telephoned at 11:30am to be told that check out was midday. They need to look at ventilation, upon entering the room there was a distinct smell of damp/humidity. This is a shame because it takes away from the room being beautiful otherwise.
- hensuv (8/5): Great location, would recommend - It's a nice hotel. Great location, clean rooms. It was pretty peaceful. Only problem was with air conditioner since it spitted ice and water out (it's maybe just not used to our prefered cold temparatures). Overall a good experience and worth of money.
- Victor (8/5): Enjoyable stay - Nice hotel and I honestly couldn’t beat the value per cost.
- Red (8/5): - The hotel is nicely designed, clean and is within walking distance to Changkat. However the area is quite noisy and the rooms are not sound proofed. The bed is also not so comfy. Woke up not feeling well rested. The parking space is terribly small and is inconvenient (you have to pay a fee for what basically is a sidewalk parking lol). The staff at the reception are also not very friendly
- Anthony (10/5): - Right at the top of the hill of Bukit Bintang, where all the night life bars and restaurants are located.
Room was very spacious, clean, and quiet. In the mornings, I awoke to the sounds of bird song, which gave the feeling of waking up in a rainforest.
- Kah (2/5): Good price with the location quite comfortable - Very good hotel with the reasonable price
Location is good walking distance to all the surrounding attractions in the area.needed to mention about the free parking provided as it advertised is not free they are changing 20 ringgit per night.
- Loke (8/5): - So good my holiday experience
- Mista803 (8/5): Okay for a night - Stay for one night the room was average not so big not so small. The price was a lil bit high due to weekend. Clean room and good aircond. The view not good facing back hill. Got 24hours mart beside the hotel which was very convenient. They provide Parking for hotel guest and the rate is RM20 perday.
- scorpiogirl2 (10/5): Fantastic budget hotel - I’d read about this hotel in a travel blog and took note of it. I can’t find anything wrong with this place. The service is good, the room is big and clean, the bed is comfortable, the airconditioning works great, the bathroom is modern and has a great rain shower and the location can’t be beat. We’ll definitely stay here again if we ever come back to KL!
- rotjong (10/5): Very impressed - Traveling for the first time to Malaysia this was our first hotel, and so far we are very impressed, clean, modern, goos shower, excellent bed and bedding.
Just to bad they have instant coffee and no chairs on the balcony.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
- Sandra (10/5): - Such a comfortable soft bed and pillows were amazing! Had a great sleep, more hotels should do this!
- k0hk3 (6/5): A little disappointed - Reading good reviews, I decide to book this hotel. You never know if you do not try.
It is located at very secluded area of Jalan Ceylon. Quiet and peaceful. About 4 minutes walk from Verdant Hill Hotel where we also stayed for this period. 2 popular restaurants are within distance from Indie – Bijan (fine Malay cuisine) and Bottega (Italian cuisine).
We stayed at Family room for three with no meal option at MYR408.73 per night. Room is clean and has all the basic accessories with one single and double bed configuration. However, there was a musty smell in the room. We were given a level 2 room with no view whatsoever. Strangely, the unit no of the room is located on the floor.
- michelle (6/5): - L'emplacement est génial. Le personnel est très agréable. L'entretien des chambres est à revoir
- kannan (10/5): - very accessible and but the tv channels got issue
- CHA IN (10/5): - I like the room, cozy and nice
- aghelan (10/5): Superb Short Break - The room is great the PILLOW & BED is the best ever as it has the 5* rating and the best and comfy place to stay and sleep. The best pace near happening area. For the management OMG you guys are great as knows what is the best for guest. Please keep up the great work. Room is clean, no bad smell, no dust, wash room is clean and the shower is good and very powerful. very spacious room and the amenities are great & also was very touched with the personnel greeting by the GM & the welcome snacks.
- Mayuko (10/5): - Location is nice. Staff is kind and polite. The room is big enough.
One of the hotel Clark helped me to call a Grab when I had trouble to get it after check-out. It was so helpful.
- Tom Arne (10/5): Good location - Very good hotel with spacious rooms. Good location close to Changkat, but still at sufficient distance to ensure a good night sleep from the noisy streets.
- kannan (10/5): - Gd location n clean rooms
- Shu-Wei (10/5): - Great place, nice location
- Joelynnchin (8/5): Quiet and peaceful place near Bukit Bintang - As I can't travel overseas due to COVID, I've been trying out boutique hotels in the city for staycations. This is one of them.
I booked the cheapest room but got upgraded to a bigger room, I guess because it was a weekday. The room was spacious, with a practical work desk.
No complaints about the room except for a minor problem with lighting - a desk lamp that didn't light up and an ambient lighting that was flickering. It wasn't a major inconvenience, so I only highlighted this when I checked out. At that time the hotel had just reopened after the lockdown, so it's understandable that things like this slipped inspection.
My room was at the back, facing a slope. If you go up to the higher floors, you can see the KL Tower up close - a pretty sight at night. Do note that the rooms facing the road can be hot as they're facing the sun, but shouldn't be too much of a problem as there is a common corridor/veranda for buffer.
The best thing about this hotel is it's quiet and peaceful, yet within walking distance to the hustle and bustle of Bukit Bintang (shopping area 15 minutes away) and Changkat Bukit Bintang (bars 5 minutes away). The buildings around it are condominiums.
If you don't mind the walk, it's a good place to base yourself. If you're up for it, you can even walk to KL Tower (I advise you to get a Grab/taxi as the climb up the hill is tiring) and even Chinatown and Masjid Jamek.
In terms of facilities, there's no pool and restaurant (it shut down due to the many lockdowns), so it's not a destination hotel. It's just a nice place to stay to explore the city. If things go according to plan, there may be a gym in the near future.
If you are planning to stay the weekend, book early as this place can fill up fast. There's limited parking space if you're driving. Check with the hotel on parking arrangements.
- Miguel (4/5): - Shower drain was clogged. Shower floor filled up with water really quickly
Hard to enjoy a shower with this kind of issue. Found bunch of Human hair on desk
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent hotel, mere walking distance to a big variety of restaurants in Arab street
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice and new - Far from public transportation. Other than that, nothing to complain.
- HALIZANDRA PUTRA (10/5): Well located, private and clean. - I wouldn’t say this is a hotel. They don’t have the amenities you get at one. There are just rooms and a restaurant in the building. As such, for the price we paid, i thought it was abit expensive.
However, the location is perfect. Away from crowd, yet just 10mins drive to any popular malls etc. You will find convenient stores, pubs and eateries a stone throw away.
The room I got is big enough, clean and well stocked. Only thing missing were snacks and drinks from the mini bar. Abit weird i thought.
1 last thing for the management to note. We had a great experience with the staff there except for one young indian lady. Made no eye contact when she talk and does not smile at all, felt as though we were not welcomed. Perhaps training them abit more on customer service would help. It is a pity otherwise, because everything else was great.
Thank you for the accommodation!
- daaby (10/5): HAD TO CANCEL DUE TO COVID-19 - We had reservations for 1 night, but with the current situation our plans changed rapidly! We had to cancel and we were past the acceptable time frame to cancel. BUT they still accepted our cancellation without any fees!
We have been in this situation at various places, since borders close overnight on foreigners, and not many have the compassion like this hotel had for us.
If we ever return to Malaysia, we will come back here, just to show our appreciation!
Thank you!
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Extra clean hotel, Very helpful staff
I usually prefer 5 star hotels, but in time of health-concerns. This very clean hotel is my top choice in Kuala Lumpur
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- merchpaul (10/5): Great find - Great little hotel in a quiet neighborhood spacious rooms comfortable beds many restaurants nearby attentive staff convenient store located on premises easy walk to numerous attractions thoroughly enjoyed my stay of 4 days highly recommend great value for the price
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It is close to most of the tourist spots in Kuala Lumpur
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The room was nice and comfy
- HY (10/5): - The bed is comfortable and the pillows are great. Front desk is very helpful very pleasant stay indeed.
- 400kayl (10/5): “SYLISH, COMFORTABLE AND AFFORDABLE LUXURY”
- LOCATION
About 2 min walk from the busy pubstreet in Bukit Bintang, the building itself is unique, whitewashed with an attractive façade of verandahs and wall-sized glass amidst the neighboring towers.
LOBBY
The style is simple, minimalistic, modern and functional.
SERVICE
We stayed about 3 days after the hotel commenced operations, so it was stunning and sublime to use the new rooms. The room we had was a virgin room, as everything was unopened, unused. Security good and parking available. Restaurant not yet in use during stay. The chinese desk clerk was very helpful, professional and kind. He even helped us carry luggage to our uber on check-out.
ROOMS
We were upgraded to family room as the standard rooms were fully occupied. The open wardrobe plan design with lots of storage space is a plus for travellers. All the sockets were internationally adaptable and fitted with USB ports, meaning no need to bring and borrow. Well Done!
The wallpaper was a large black and white photograph of the community life from the past, splashed with bright yellow paint at certain spots. The grey+white+yellow carpet matched the painting adding warmth and comfort to our toes. The bed was X-Large, super comfy and a torment to leave. The night lamp was beautifully designed.
Bathroom clean complete with Borneo products and amenities (eco-friendly using recycled paper) while laundry bag and slippers provided. There is a tea and coffee with 8 sugars but only 2 creamers, would need to add more.
As it was the last day of the year 2019, we raced to the roof to see the midnight fireworks from the KL tower. We were amongst a small crowd of couples and friends wishing peace, health and prosperity for the world.
SUMMARY
Would highly recommend! CITY OASIS!
- Ivtj7 (8/5): Simple and cozy - A new boutique hotel and I liked the location. Quiet hilltop with greenery, a surprising atmosphere in a bustling city. Still a new place, a restaurant soon to be opened. Walking distance to nearby eateries and to the famous Changkat area with terrific bars and restaurants. As it is a small hotel, parking space is limited and Valet parking with a fee is available. It does not have a swimming pool but that's not an issue when you're out discovering the city and back to a cozy room. They paid a lot of attention to the ambience of the room (wallpaper with photos of the olden city days). The beds are really comfortable, this was a surprise too. Kudos to the small group of staffs who made my stay comfortable. Will definitely be back.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - New, clean, comfortable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - New modern hotel close to local bars and restaurants
- Verified traveler (10/5): - staff were brilliant, always there to answer questions and give advice,
The hotel will be 100% once all the amenities are in place, it had only been opened about 1 month when I was there
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent hotel, very nice location, great staff and unique design
- Hendy (10/5): - I love everything about this hotel... cozy room with modern furniture. The greatest of all are the pillows and king size bed. 4 long pillows are like heavenly for me and I slept with comfy until morning...
- LIM (10/5): - Overall a good design and comfy hotel at the heart of KL! Great location!
- Nur (10/5): - Room was cozy and nicely decorated.
